• michalg164 (4/5): Disappointing stay despite friendly Mare staff – poor food variety, weak cleaning, and inflexible customer service - I stayed at The Beachfront for 13 days. The location is very nice and the view is beautiful. The staff at the Mare restaurant were very friendly and kind. We felt welcome every day. But the food was not good. Every day it was the same. The choice was very small. The scrambled eggs tasted like powder, and nothing changed during our whole stay. The housekeeping service was also weak. The floor was always dirty with sand, and they didn’t clean it well. We felt sand under our feet all the time. Some equipment in the room was broken and not fixed. Also, the staff in the Club House restaurant were not nice. They were rude and didn’t want to help. Another problem was the customer service. There was no flexibility. When we asked for small changes or help, the answer was usually “no” without trying to find a solution. I liked the beach and the Mare staff, but the hotel needs to improve cleaning, food quality, customer service, and the attitude of some employees.

Das einzige, was sehr gestört hat, waren enorme Geräusche aus den Nachbarwohnungen. Teppiche oder Filz unter dem Esstisch und den Stühlen könnte erheblich helfen. Dann wären wir hier auch gern länger!

• KL (8/5): - Fabulous location with ocean view. Clean, well furnished. Would have been nice if 2 of 3 bedrooms had king beds vs just one. The Beachfront resort restaurant was closed the Sunday & Monday of our stay. And the market place wasn’t open late so if you had a late arrival you had few options. Unfortunately the entryway locking mechanism at the front door was bizarrely difficult to open & you had to be careful you didn’t scrape your knuckles when turning the tiny knob. At least 6 coffee pods should have been provided for a 3 bdrm townhouse (6 person occupancy). No paper towels or tissue was provided, only toilet paper. English instruments should have been provided to assist with washing machine & dishwasher operation. Adding these simple supplies & the English instructions would have resulted in a 5 star rating & made the unit & our stay perfect.

Rather strange approach for 10 miles before reaching resort, very much in the "outback" (you think you are lost) with rather a dodgy road. Arrived to a very large complex with hundreds of villas and apartment. Checked in at Hotel and escorted to our Beachfront apartment. Clean, modern equipment. Amazing location just above the swimming pool and view over the sea - stunning. You need a car even a three minutes drive to a full Breakfast every morning, all included. Arrangements at Golf Courses first class, clean buggies, lovely clubhouses with good lunch food at reasonable prices. We have played a lot of good courses these (Praia del rey, West Cliffs and Royal Obidos) were first class. Very challenging for handicaps 10 - 16, mostly on the coast, stunning views and in good condition, greens very good. Overall an excellent experience for 4 golfers in a 2 bed apartment and cheaper than the Algarve and not as busy. You need a car to nearby restuarants (most are generally very Portugese mainly in Peneche). Had a day in Lisbon - beutiful city (recommended).Overall highly recommened.
• Kelly (10/5): Wonderful stay - The Beachfront Praia D'el Rey was amazing! We stayed in a 3-bedroom townhouse which had ample room for us and our 3 children. The venue was very clean and comfortable. The house was stocked with everything we needed to make dinners or have a relaxing night in. The location is close enough to do day trips to Lisbon, Peniche, Nazare & Porto. The views from the balconies and the beach itself were incredible! My adult son found the gym to be sufficient and the restaurants were delicious. We definitely would stay here again and highly recommend!

• Liz (10/5): - Loved having our own townhouse that was very spacious with two bedrooms and three bathrooms along with two separate balcony areas overlooking the pool and ocean. The pool was right below our unit and the ocean beach right there. This was a great deal for the price as we stayed there mid-April. Everyone at the front desk was very nice. We only had lunch and drinks at the Clubhouse once, but it was very good and fairly reasonable. We did not a chance to use the Mari restaurant. Our only complaint would be once or twice having to wait for the shuttle to bring us to the nearby Marriott property where are friends were staying. Overall, a great property. We would highly recommend.

The team at reception were also amazing. They went above and beyond, staying late so we could check in, providing suggestions for places to visit, and including local knowledge to help navigate the area. • Manuel (8/5): - La vista al mar desde la terraza y todas las ventanas de la townhome es increíble. En verano debe poderse disfrutar muchísimo. Sin embargo, en invierno debes permanecer en el interior para aprovechar la calefacción. Desgraciadamente, la unidad que nos asignaron no contaba con agua caliente, y en una temperatura exterior de 8-10 centígrados resulta indispensable. Mala experiencia en una propiedad que se dice y cobra como de cinco estrellas.
• RaymondJ808 (6/5): Don't promise what you can't deliver - We stayed as a party of 28 golfers from Friday 7th October to Tuesday11th most in 3bed apt and one group in a 2bed. The apt were very spacious having a good size kitchen and living room as you enter with a balcony with wonderful views overlooking the beach and ocean All rooms had there own bathrooms with the downstairs room being the largest with a bath and shower combined and also a balcony. Only downside of the 3bed apartments we had confirmed all twin beds in each room this was not the case and after some discussions they agreed to put another single bed in 3 of our apts at first with an extra charge then this was later rescinded. There was room cleaning on the second day to replenish towel and toiletries and the beds were comfortable. We were right next to the supermarket where we could get our supplies of food and drink. Also next to this was the Mare Restaurant where we expected to have breakfast before playing golf unfortunately this had been closed meaning we had to organize the shuttle buses to take us to the clubhouse restaurant about a 1.4miles away for breakfast then again to get to golf. Not sure who is responsible for the shuttle buses either the Marriott hotel themselves or the resort management that are responsible for the apartments as this was a complete shambles which caused untold stress to anyone staying at the beachfront and village trying to get down firstly to breakfast as only 1 driver turned up after the prearranged 07.30am pickup time mostly late and over 48 golfers waiting forced us to walk and carry our clubs otherwise as they only carry 8 persons we would not make our tee times. At the busiest time of the year they compound the already inadequate amount of Shuttle buses by closing the Mare restaurant forcing everyone to the clubhouse. It happened both day and evening with no help from the resort staff except to say we should complain to the director as he is responsible for the shuttle bus company. Whoever is responsible for shuttle buses be the Hotel Management or the resort Management have ruined what should have been a memorable stay into a chaotic frenzy of unneeded stress with their inconsiderate actions. If we had known the restaurant was closed and the shuttle bus service was deplorable, we would have stayed in the hotel itself and got our travel agent to organize private shuttles or took our custom elsewhere where it would be appreciated
• GRACE (8/5): - Beautiful beach front balcony and view. Modern and pretty interior. Didn’t like presence of ants in bedroom. Great shower and bathroom with heated towel rack but some water damage to bedroom and hallway wall noted. Could use hair conditioner in bathroom. Uncomfortable overly firm bed. Woke up with back pain. Didn’t appreciate late check in at 4 pm and early check out time of 10 am.

• MontycatPerth (8/5): Lovely 2 bed apartment - Stayed in the apartment for 4 nights during our golfing trip. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - very spacious with balcony overlooking pool which was restricted to apartments overlooking the pool. Unfortunately were not able to use the pool due to the weather. Cleanliness good with good supply of kitchens utensils should you decide to eat within the apartment. We did this one night. Used the hotel for one breakfast and 2 dinners within the clubhouse. Fair selection for all courses. Service good and staff courteous.

• crushers (8/5): Family vacation - We spent a week in a 2 bedroom 2bath unit. It was very spacious and clean. It was not very crowded and we liked the fact it was quiet. We are not golfers but enjoyed our early morning walks. You definitely need a car if you want to explore Portugal, go to a restaurant or shop for groceries. We never got the heat to work properly and a little water was slowly dripping from one of them. The shower in the master bedroom turned cold if any other water was turned on. The staff was very courteous and maintenance did show up to give us washing machine instructions. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Priaia D'el Rey might not be for everyone but it worked out well for us.

I highly recommend staying here if you'll be in the area. Just make sure you have a car because it made our lives so much easier to have a car to get around the place!

The two bedroom units have both bedrooms in the back, with the living room and kitchen having direct ocean views, only a few meters away. If you rent a three bedroom unit, the master bedroom also has a direct ocean view and patio.

We were told that our breakfast were served at Mare Restaurant close by the apartment! Mare was open the day after arrival, but the rest of our vacation the restaurant were closed!! Disapointing!😔 But overalt we had a great stay! 👍 we had a great stay!
• 125AlanS (4/5): Crumbling before our eyes - This resort is literally crumbling as you look at it. Paint is flaking of the walls everywhere, the lifts don’t work, the apartments look good online but are actually quite basic with furniture in need of replacement. The advertised market sells very little and the only restaurant within walking distance is significantly overpriced. The only redeeming feature is the great ocean views. Definitely not 5 star - struggling for 3.

So close to Peniche, an amazing beach and surf town and to Óbidos for some historic Portugal. Great getaway for a golf holiday or just to relax. • sib1 (6/5): Reasonable apartments, but not 5 star as advertised and poor maintenance - We have just returned from a visit to the Beachfront and overall I was not overwhelmed. I have reviewed a number of other reviews before writing this and the criticisms made are warranted.We were a family of 5 staying in a 3 storey townhouse, I believe that we had B02. The only problem we had on arrival was that the door was broken and wouldn't lock. It took the best part of 3 hours to sort out getting maintenance down to fix this and was generally a hassle. This should have been checked before arrival in my view and the maintenance person even admitted to me that they were very understaffed. I think a few points worth making 1. The size of the apartment was great, the rooms were spacious, more than enough bathrooms. We certainly didn't feel cramped. 2. The views from the balconies of the beach were amazing. To wake up with a view of the ocean and the entire resort was amazing. The lowest level balcony with the master bedroom was very tired, not looked after, poor furniture quality. The patio furniture was generally poor. 3. As other reviewers have written, the quality of the cleaning was at best average. We had a basic "clean" every couple of days which included towel and linen change, but that was it. In the note left, there was a lot of detail about a full clean every 5 days, but this never happened. 4. The only thing near the beachfront is a tiny shop, which has very little and the Mare restaurant which was ok, but not excellent for the price. For a meal for 4 adults and some chips and ice cream for kids we didn't get change out of 300 euros. 5. At the top of the road near the Beachfront, it was deemed acceptable for surfers to come and use this as a place to park cars and use the beach.One evening I even saw people camping at the top of the beach. I thought it was private resort, but obviously not. 6. YOU NEED TO HAVE A CAR. The drive to the main hotel is 5-10 minutes and then at least another 10 minutes to any form of civilisation. Within the min hotel there are restaurants, kids club etc, but I'd never leave kids and then go back to the Beachfront, was too far.One evening we went to use the outdoor area which we were told was open, but it was unlit and didn't feel safe, Once out there are some very nice restaurants we found in Serra Del Rai (Tribecca) Ferrell (Tables) and Baleal. Al worth looking up. Further afield is Penuche, which is a small costal town, but not much to write home about. 7. The pool area was fine and was not overly busy, but it seemed to be generally used by people from the beach who saw it is a free amenity as it wasn't monitored or locked by key/card. In summary, I think for the price that we paid for 12 nights we were there (which was far too long) was very expensive. For a Marriott I was expecting a lot more. Whilst we had a good time, it wasn't amazing and I wouldn't return.

• WallyBode (8/5): Nice apartments close to the beach and some stunning golf courses - We went here with a group of 20 and we were accommodated in some of the apartments in the more back-end of the complex. A shuttle bus is needed to get from the hotel and reception to the aparments so this service is provided by the park free of charge. They also brought us to some of the golf courses. Nice service and friendly drivers. In the middle of the complex where we were located there was a swimming pool with loungers and some of the guys happily used those after a round. The apartments are very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. Cleaning was made every 2nd day. The internet signal was strong and had no interruptions. There are no shops closeby so the group that arrived a day earlier did a lot of shopping to accommodate food for 20 for breakfast, 2 barbeques, etc.. So if you decide to stay there either rent a car or do a lot of shopping in one go as there are not a lot of restaurants in the direct nabourhood besides the Marriott hotel and we saw a fish restaurant opposite our apartments which as far as we could see was not (yet) open. In general it was very quiet in the complex although it was end May/early June hence not the main season. If you like beautiful beaches, coastlines (and golf) this si a place you may consider.
• HK (4/5): - We wanted a relaxing sun and beach layover between Lisbon and Porto and planned to stay 2 days. The location, property and beach are beautiful BUT it is a ghost land. No one is there except golfers using the course. The restaurants were disappointing and overpriced. Service although very friendly, was spotty. Fish was prepared poorly at Mare and burgers were served raw at the clubhouse. What a shame! This place could be very special with the right management.

Transport around the resort is free and easy to organise but if you go out of the resort , taxis are expensive and nothing within walking distance , so you are here for golf or to stay at the Marriott and enjoy a sun holiday Weather was terrific in May for Portugal and all the resort golf courses are wonderful links courses although Westcliff ran out of buggies a major let down The Mare Resteraunt is the only Resteraunt outwith the hotel and golf courses and situated overlooking the beach within the resort but food was truly awful and would give them 1/10 for location only If you like golf this is a wonderful place to visit and 5* Marriott has everything but 10 minute trip on average to a golf course plus waiting time for a bus certainly all three courses very challenging and big distance from green to tee

• Peter (4/5): Wish I Could Have Found The Place - We did not stay here because we could not find the hotel. The area is beautiful and wish we could have enjoyed it but we spent over an hour driving around into the dark trying to find the place. We called the hotel and were told to look for signs for another hotel and follow accordingly. GPS kept sending us to a dead end, we couldn’t locate signs for the other hotel, and the person on the phone was not helpful. We ended up staying in another hotel in town. Hopefully Hotels.com will help the situation and issue me a refund.
• Catherine (8/5): 5 Star Resort in Isolated Location - We stayed here for one night as a last minute change of plan to break up the journey from Lisbon to Porto. What a find! We will definitely be back and next time for longer. The Villa was superb, beachfront location, wonderful views even though the weather for our stay was awful! It wasn’t busy due to the time of year and the resort itself is quite isolated. We were disappointed that the resort supermarket was closed for the winter season as we needed some provisions so ended up getting take out from the Clubhouse for dinner, which was fine. Couldn’t eat out due to our daughter being poorly so were grateful that they did take out! They provide a small welcome pack with a few teas/coffees etc with a note stating further supplies can be obtained from the supermarket but obviously not in winter! Luckily we took our own milk as this wasn’t provided. These are only minor negatives as we will definitely return just better equipped! Obviously the resort caters for golfers which isn’t our thing but it wouldn’t put us off returning.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Stunning views - Amazing and stunning views of this wild coastline from the huge balcony. Off season so quiet and peaceful. Apartment felt quite cold as the weather wasn't great but we felt very relaxed here. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Have stayed in the resort before as we enjoy the golf course but it was really good to self cater. There was also the option of using the hotel facilities (pool, spa etc) for a small fee.
• Dorothea (8/5): - Modern, clean and silent big rooms with comfortable beds. Great view. Unfortunately the smell in the bedroom downstears is mouldy. We could not use it.

• veterantravellers (4/5): Extremely average - We stayed for two nights and found the 2 bed apartment with a nice sea view to be very basically equipped. The resort restaurants are expensive but you know if you are prepared to drive for 15 minutes, that much more reasonably priced options are available. The apartments are a Portuguese 3 to 4 star standard and are not what one would normally expect with a complex with a 5star Marriott hotel.
• SteveLalaE (8/5): Good Resort - This is a nice resort, but beware that coming off the freeway to the resort it makes you feel like your headed in the wrong direction. Plus we came when it was dark. It was nice that the young lady at the resort waited for us to check in, I appreciate that. We stayed in The Village by The Ocean. So by the pictures you assume that you are right by the beach. Well you are not, it’s about a 15 min walk. But it is better then staying in the garden area which is a 10 min DRIVE . Our 3 bedroom apartment was very nice and roomy. It had a huge veranda. Our kitchen was big and the living area was nice. We had 2 full bathrooms and a powder room . Housekeeping was ok, when they came in they changed our towels and mage our beds. But that was it. In the week that we were there they never swept or mopped the floor, we had to do it twice. We were here in July and it seemed like they may have been under staffed as the little market was only open at certain hours and the Mare Restaurant never seemed to be open. We ate often at the Club House which was very good and the service was excellent. The Beach here was nice and clean, there are lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent. We walked along the beach to the Marriott which was nice. Internet service was horrible, non existent! We were given 6 different “Hotspot” devices that we could carry with us and use wherever we were. They never worked, not outside, not in our apartment not by the beach. Very frustrating that I had to go to the office daily to return them where they then encouraged me to take another one that would be better, but it wasn’t. It’s very sad that in this time and age we cannot have adequate WiFi in a 5 star location. It’s not that difficult. I know I sound negative, this was a nice resort, it’s the little things that make a difference.
• john (6/5): Nice beach and good golf but not for families - The townhouses on the resort are only worth staying in if you are prepared to have to drive at least 15 minutes everywhere anytime you want lunch/visit anywhere or use a decent shop. It is not a suitable place for families with young children. Absolutely no atmosphere at all and we were shocked at the difference between the hotel, which had helpful staff and good facilities and the resort where the staff were rude, unhelpful and lazy (especially at breakfast where no one was present half the time, no clearing of tables, poor selection of food) the beach is lovely and the house itself was very modern. It’s unfair to suggest it’s a family resort when to access the playground it’s 10 minute shuttle bus to reach! If you don’t mind hiring a car and are into golf then it’s worth a visit but I wouldn’t recommend to families
• Essex_M (10/5): A perfect Base - Very very pleased with the quality of the accommodation and the location. We wanted something a bit out of the way, but next to a great beach and a pool and this property delivered. The unit we were assigned was C07 which was a 2 bedroom townhouse. The corner location gave us one of the best views of the beach and in close proximity to the pool and beach. The unit was extremely large with two en suite bedrooms. Two large balconies, parking and maid service aswell. Some of the furniture was worn, but nothing major to cause an issue. The only negative is that the pool was freezing, which means that we could only spend short amounts of time in the pool which was frustrating, but not a deal breaker. In regards to location, we wanted a base to explore this part of portugal and for that it was perfect. We were able to visit Tomar, Lisbon, Batalha, Obidos etc. All in all a great break and accomodation.
• viajante0000 (4/5): Good Location, poor maintenance - We spent the last 4 nights at a 3 bedroom villa at the Beachfront. The location is great and the view from the house spectacular. But the maintenance of the house is very low considering it is an accommodation in a 5 star resort. The outdoor furniture was broken, the balconies rusty, cracked walls, dirty curtains, dirty kitchen sponges and kitchen towels on arrival that we had to request that they change... Very disappointing. Also, they do the "general cleaning" every 2 days, that means changing towels and nothing else really! All other cleaning you have to do yourself, including the floors and the kitchen, as this is only done every 5 days. You are informed of this prior to arrival, so consider carefully if you want to spend your holidays cleaning a house, that didn't seem that clean in the first place! On the positive side i am allergic to household mites and requested that the mattresses be vacuumed, i suppose that they were as i have as yet not had an allergic reaction! Really not good value for money, we would not recommend this accommodation option.
• LukV460 (8/5): Perfect view, lot's of space, huge terraces, very quite - The Beachfront is right on the beach with perfect sea view. We stayed in the 2-bedroom (and 2 bathrooms) C apartments and they are huge with 2 big terraces both facing the sea. Perfect sunset view. The beach is just in front. The beach has umbrella's and sunbeds for rent and there are guards, the sea can be dangerous in Portugal. I would have given a 5, normally, but I have some remarks. We did miss a beach bar, where you can eat a small snack for lunch. We walked all the way to the Marriot Pool Bar for lunch, which is possible of course, but it is a 20 min walk over the beach. Another remark is some furniture in the apartment needs replacement as it had its years. Overall we had a great stay, the perfect location and view does it all. The reception was professional and helpful. For diner you have the restaurants of the hotel (they have a shuttle service) and 15min with the car you find some nice places in Ferrel (try Moo's Grill and Bar). The Mare restaurant next to the apartment serves breakfast and you find a small grocery shop and game room ( for the kids), also close to the apartment.
• essySpeyside (8/5): Good! But could be better! 3.5 - Having stayed at the Marriott before and after our week at the 3 bedroom town house, have to say I wish we had continued at the Marriott. First impressions were very good but a little smaller than the photographs. The layout was a bit strange with the only king bed facing the street, the room with the fantastic bathroom and tv downstairs without the view, and the best view out to sea was smaller with a small bathroom. As the week progressed so the service deteriorated. The shuttle bus started to take 40 minutes to arrived instead of 5, and we learned there were staffing problems. The beach was super clean first day but my husband and I started to clear plastic off the beach as the week progressed and had to ask the lifeguards to give us a bag! They sat and did nothing all week.It was also noisy with the houses next door! Really not 5 star. If the resort had been full it would have been a nightmare... Tennis is 6.5 e a person for tennis!! So for 4 people,,,,over 25 e an hour?? For not particularly good courts! U also have to pay over 35 e a person to use the marriott facilities ( pools) which we were not told about although we had drinks ( g&t 11 e and toasted sandwiches 10 e). I just feel over priced and we didnt mind paying that when we were staying at the marriott and getting the 5 star treatment.
• Robert (10/5): Superb townhouse on the beach - Outstanding townhouse and beach was lovely and quiet with superb waves to surf and bodyboarding for the kids was excellent. Ideal for family beach holiday.
• Nathalie (10/5): Very nice! - We were 5 , staying in a 3 bedroom apartment .Great accomodations, offers plenty of space. It has everything you need.Fantastik view. Lacking market in the area. Mini market on site did not have much.
• MarcoLaumen (10/5): Fantastic stay! - Very large semi detached houses with 2 large terraces, 2 separate bed rooms, 2 bath rooms (en suite) and separate toilet. Large kitchen including all gear that you need. Comfortable beds, great shower. Airco in the rooms. Wifi works smooth and fast (except in some of the bed rooms downstairs). View from your balcony or terrace on the beach and ocean is impressive! Within couple of minutes you are at the beach. Small super market is 1 minute walking distance. However, for all other things you will need a (rental) car! Reception, spa, golf courses, restaurants (except for Mare, which was closed) are NOT within walking distance! Restaurants on the resort are pretty expensive, use your car to drive 15 minutes to get to some local restaurants at small villages. All in all, especially when you like to play golf on 2 great courses, this is a fantastic place to stay!

• dutchtraveller67 (10/5): 1 week summer holidays with my family - We rented a two bedroom house wity my family ( 2 kids) and spent a week there. Very comfortbale house with everything you need. Swimming pool just in front and a ncie walk to the beach. All over Europe was too hot and we just enjoyed the pleasant weather here. In the evening cooling down is just perfect. Nice golf course near the see, we really enjoyed the view. We hope to come bakc again.
• YouHiS (10/5): Fantastic place with family - Perfect location for ocean, beach and golf lovers. Upgraded to 3 bedrooms appartment and effectively the lower bedroom can be uncomfortable with humidity smell. View superb and great space. Direct access to beach is a plus.

• Hermelinda (8/5): - The apartment was excellent, big and clean, very nice, with an spectacular view. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. It is far from the village but very quite to relax and enjoy the beach.
• javiera (6/5): Nice - The front door's lock did not work in the morning, so security people had to open the front door for us. A very lonely place during einter, must be very fun during summer. Very nice apartment. Huge bedrooms and bathrooms. Excellent kitchen. It also has a washer/dryer that comes handy if you are travelling with children.
