Guest Reviews
- Allott (7/5): -
- Susan (3/5): Good central location but whole place was grubby - Location was good Cleanliness was poor
- Christina (10/5): I felt welcome and enjoyed my stay. - It is centrally located in beautiful Ventnor High Street on the Isle of Wight. A lovely clean bright and airy room with a choice of bath or shower over head. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I liked everything I cannot find any fault.
- Edward (10/5): - Friendly helpful Manager and staff !
- Nicole (6/5): - Good location. Nice staff. Small room, rather 'tired'
- Denise (10/5): A lot better than I expected. - It was near the public transport ,right in the centre of the shopping area and a short walk to the sea front. A real little hidden gem, quirky and quaint.I would highly recommend. Would have preferred a shower to a bath. But it was a last minute booking and just a personal preference.
- Nicky (6/5): - Friendly helpful staff Bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, footprint on floor & hairs . No toiletries at all.
- Peter (9/5): good and useful stay -
- nichola (3/5): Will not be returning. - Location was good. Bedding and towels lovely. The bathroom was so old it looked so dirty and was in most places. Shower cable was brown and rusty so didn’t go in shower. Also bathroom door did not shut fully. Kettle was so old and dirty looking, it was not used. Room was generally dusty. I was room three and the noise from apartment underneath from the television was so loud I had no sleep. I left at 630 in morning just to get away from noise. No where to put key downstairs so had to leave on floor by the door.

- Emma (9/5): Great place, super location, friendly people - No 24 is right in the centre of Ventnor which is a lovely town with a beautiful seafront. The bar downstairs is very friendly with lots of local people. The rooms are upstairs with a separate entrance or via the bar. The owner Brian is really nice and hospitable. Super Spanish restaurant ‘The Basque Kitchen’ is virtually opposite and the Spyglass on the seafront is just fabulous.
- Carol (8/5): Host was very friendly - Nice n central to the town, plenty of eating places nearby Could have been a bit cleaner
- Alison (10/5): Central spot, warm vibe - Warm welcome, fab atmosphere, great central location
- Maddie65 (8/5): Great location and price - Friendly proprietor. Nothing.
- Gabriel (10/5): Great spot! Warm welcome and a cold peroni! - Fantastic central location in Ventnor! Warm welcome from host, Brian and a cold peroni! Room was clean and comfortable, hot shower and great towels. Tea and coffee making facilities, TV, fan in the room, bar downstairs. No free parking.
- Art (9/5): Excellent friendly price conscious stay with excellent hosts. - Great friendly staff, superb location, really good base for the weekend wedding we were attending. For the price paid it was perfect to be honest, we used it as a base for a weekend celebration in the town. We had a loft room and the only obvious thing there was the height of the ceilings but like I say for a base it was perfect.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (7/5): Good -
- Samantha (5/5): Passable - Comfortable clean bed Shower was very small and looked tatty. Window didn't open and bathroom door didn't shut.

- Paul (9/5): Superb - The landlord was very friendly and the location was in the centre of town.
- Alex (7/5): Good -

- Louise (8/5): Very good -
- Carl (8/5): Very good -
- Preedy (7/5): 24 ventnor - Clean comfortable good location Stayed in the roof so kept on bumping head
- Paul (9/5): Superb little hotel, Brian is a very pleasant host, thoroughly recommended. -
- Elizabeth (4/5): Managers attitude towards guests isn’t professional, we felt we were a nuisance to him. - It was central as in the high st Shower was tiny, bathroom needs updating. No internet.
- Stan (8/5): Had a great time and would definitely be more than happy to stay again… - No:24 is perfectly placed to explore the delightful town of Ventnor, and by extension the South side of the Island. It is an excellent basic ‘inn with rooms’ rather than a full on hotel: it does not have spas, lounges or sports facilities etc. What it does have are good rooms, ideal position and an excellent bar on the ground floor. This makes it ideal if you are the kind of traveler who is out and about and comes back to rest/sleep, if you like lounging around a hotel (except for the said excellent bar!) this might not suit so well. The place is friendly and makes a great base to get to know this amazing spot. Please bare in mind No:24 is a town house with stairs and no lift, so if you have lots of luggage…
- Lisa (7/5): Nice walks along the coast - Comfortable and convenient to nearby restaurants and cafes. Nothing
- Jianhua (1/5): Bad - the boss is really rude. not nice at all. treat guest with no respect
- Will (5/5): Passable - Owner very friendly Not particularly clean
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Great location, excellent friendly pub downstairs in the evening
- Eileen (10/5): Excellent. - The property was very accommodating, comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. We were made to feel very welcome by the proprietor Brian who helped us with our bikes and gave us lots of useful information. It was a very inviting and friendly atmosphere. After a long days cycling he took us both a glass of wine up to then terrace where it was very nice to sit and relax in the sunshine. (His nice Savingnon Blanc was also much cheaper than the surrounding bars) . His home grown strawberries were plentiful and very tasty too. A perfect stay. All was very good.
- Irfana (7/5): Value for money & clean - The room was inexpensive & clean Room was a bit compact
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (8/5): Central Ventnor, ever so convenient, comfortable, warm welcome from host Brian - Clean and tidy, centrally located but quiet, had all we needed The room was a bit on the small side - though quite adequate
- Richard (4/5): Wouldn't want to stay for longer - Handy for the town The room was tiny and shabby. Not double glazed so a lot of traffic noise.
- Dawn (9/5): I would definitely stay again. Very comfortable. - Comfortable clean room Nothing
- Antony (7/5): Overall a good stay. - Great location. Very comfortable bed. Room was an attic room and for me a bit tight space wise, kept banging my head on the ceiling. Bathroom needs a little TLC.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Slightly quirky but very welcoming with a mini-pub/bar downstairs and personal attention. All good for the price
- Harry (6/5): Pleasant - Great host in a good location
- Caroline (7/5): Lovely host .. enjoyable stay - Host is lovely!!!
Convenient location
Comfortable bed Room a bit small
Shower ridiculously small
Could do with a deep clean
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely host and good location. - The owner was very kind and accommodating. The bar downstairs is really convenient. The bed was comfortable enough. We went in June and it was boiling - the little fan only did so much! The bathroom was dated and not particularly clean. Being in the roof space, the shower was pretty much impossible to stand up under!
- Darren (7/5): Great host, made up for poor parking - Great host, great bar Parking small room
- Richard (9/5): Friendly host, good location. Quiet and comfortable room. - Lovely place on the High Street and close to the beach. Friendly host with a great bar downstairs.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (8/5): Suited my needs - The accommodation suited my need and I was so pleased with where we were based so close to everything we needed. Our host was very friendly and gave us all the information we needed. I won't do that at this time
- June (9/5): Great place to stay - Great location, nice host, very comfortable bed Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ad (10/5): Great location - Nice bloke, Brian who runs it.
Great location Lighting in the bathroom room was not bright enough to shave
- Martin (5/5): Good location - Location was good. Host was friendly De Lux bedroom seemed a little exaggerated….it was comfortable and clean but not really de lux compared with other properties we have stayed In…the ceilings were very low as a converted loft type room and plenty of opportunity to bang head in bathroom and near the bed
- Phillip (7/5): Good -
- Kate (5/5): Disappointing and unwelcoming - Location was excellent for our plans, right in the middle of Ventnor. Rooms were okay and beds were comfy. The owner was quite grumpy and unwelcoming-absolutely no acknowledgement that we'd arrived and we were the only people there! There was some confusion about payment and we had to get our bank statement and booking.com site up to prove we'd paid, which while not the end of the world, wasn't helped by the owner's insistence we hadn't paid, or that we had a discounted rate...He then slated booking.com a lot, and considering that his business probably relies on them to some degree, it was a very negative start to our stay. When the rest of our group arrived, their toilet wasn't very clean so they asked for it to be sorted which again was done grudgingly. The cups in all rooms weren't very clean either. We'd had high hopes and heard good things but his line 'you need to be out by 10am, not 11am which is what booking.com says' just made all of us feel like we were an inconvenience.
- Maggie (2/5): Very poor -
- Emma (9/5): Superb - Brian the owner made us feel very welcome what a great host and a great property, the bar was also fun, would definitely stay again The bed was a little uncomfortable but that could be my own personal preference, all in all great period property and brilliant location!
- Michaelkeel (9/5): Superb - Brian was a welcoming host and does Peroni a lot cheaper than the local pubs 😊
- Simon (9/5): Walm welcome, good value. - Great location. Perfect for an overnight stay on a round the island cycle route. All good.
- Lawrence (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Location, host was brilliant, fabulous place ventnor Nothing
- Lorraine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rachel (1/5): Unsafe rooms without locks, tired, dirty decor. - The location was great This is a bar with rooms. We booked 4 rooms, one room had a hole in the window and the door lock did not work. We were offered another room with a lock that also did not work. There is no seperation from the bar to the rooms and anyone can wander upstairs at any time. so having an unlocked door all night is not safe. All the rooms were tired and needed redecoration and were not very clean. The two upstairs rooms do not have full head height. The owner insisted on a payment when we arrived even though I was sure I had paid booking.com. It turned out there was a double payment and the owner has refused to refund from their end. There will be a two week delay before I get any refund from booking. com and it has taken the best part of a day to sort out. Both the hotel and booking.com have been very disappointing
- Crouigneau (5/5): easy to find good location could be better for the price. - we liked the location and the style of the building No breakfast around, the WC didn't flush very well at all, super small shower space, very small room
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin (4/5): Disappointing - Great for location as it's right near the bus stop most of the walking party used every day. Warm welcome from the staff including the proprietor and a complimentary drink. Good bedding and furniture with a bit of character. I'd have liked a desk or table big enough to write at as well as hold the TV and kettle etc but realise most people might not need this. A leak in the ceiling was dealt with promptly and effectively. The Safe box was easy to operate. Room was poorly lit, coffee cups and spoons permanently stained, dust on these and the kettle, a loo that flushed properly only after three attempts. No one came to empty bins or check supplies of toiletries and coffee/tea, though I was invited to ask for the latter as needed. I was also apparently expected to make my own bed - a wise thing during the pandemic, but has it become the new normal? Overall, poor value for £85 a night.
- Michelle (3/5): Poor -
- Ujjaval (10/5): Exceptional -
- Perks (5/5): Passable - The owner 6 flights of tight stairs.
Cramped.
No parking.
- Carol (1/5): Worse room we have stayed in - The host was welcoming when we arrived 1.The room was very small.
2. the yale lock on the outer door wasn't secure.
3.the bedroom main light was very small.
4.The bathroom light was situated away from the bathroom door.
5.The kettle on the outside and insidewas filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for some time.
6.the room had a single hanging space and no drawers to put any clothes.
7.the pillows were stained
8.the shower was dirty especially the base
9.the container for toothbrushes was filthy.
10. The way the bathroom shelf was fixed prevented me from leaning into the sink to wash my face.
11. The sink was badly fixed and the around the taps was filthy.
12. The bin in the bedroom was dirty.
13. The cups was dirty even the teaspoon and when I got clean cups the following day they were worse.
We didn't confront the owner as we didn't feel comfortable in confronting the owner.
I have stayed in some basic rooms but never have I felt that I have Been cheated out of the money I paid.
The room itself wasn't worth the £475.00 that we paid for 5 days me and my partner feel that we should be entitled to a refund of some of the money that was paid. how they became eligible to be on booking.com I really don't know. I would have thought that they would have to be checked by you. I wait your reply on this as to what happens next . I have photos some of which are displayed below but it won't allow me to show them all they are all of the room and bathroom
- Neill (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (7/5): Nice stay for one night! Quite and clean, would come back! - The location and the bath! Very small
- Mark (7/5): lovely building to stay in - lovely property small room small en-suite very noisy outside
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Apart from the fact that the property is located on the main street and it can be a bit noisy late evening, my stay was great!
- Anne (9/5): Great location, very clean, lovely patio area for sitting outside. - Great location, lovely patio area for sitting outside.
- Andrew (8/5): Excellent - very welcoming host ! - Great location Nothing
- Charlotte (1/5): Will not visit again. - The location is great - we hiked around IOW and completely exhausted when we arrived. A good place to rest and have everything we needed. Close to all of the shops and beach. Room seems to be clean and tidy. The hotel owner is extremely rude. He made us to stand in the shop in front of people and started to ‘give us lesson’ (we literally just arrived and met him for the first time). The hotel owner mentioned that other people ruined his room which has nothing to be done with me, just because I am Asian, he made us promise to keep everything clean and tidy brutally. People in the bar was laughing and I felt absolutely HUMILIATED! He looks intoxicated. The room was close to the main road and quite small, which means at night it is extremely noisy. I do not feel this worth an £85. If it’s not because I was absolutely exhausted and had no choice, I would not stay here.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent customer care, lovely place. Highly recommended. very clean and great service.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
