• Lisa (5/5): Not worth the money!!! - None The towels were in a package and were stained. No drinking cups hard to get on the internet because all the passwords are wrong!!!! And why a resort fee nothing is a resort no one there to help you. you have to call someone that can’t say your name right.
• Jessica (7/5): Would stay again. - Great location. Small hotel so when you book online the Email you a door code. Would stay again for the price and location. Nothing fancy but good enough for a beach stay. Older hotel.
• Tiffany (3/5): Rent elsewhere! - The location. The other guests were nice too. No office. Took forever to get in touch with staff for issues with the tub drain stopping up, the extra humid rooms, the fact that the pool was no able to be used. The property is nothing like it is portrayed. Pool was a frog pond. The staff had to jump through hoops and took half day to get back to me with permission to use a pool at their other facility, which was 2 miles away. We ran out of TP bc they don’t visit the rooms daily. Yikes! We loved the area, and location was excellent. I will visit Buxton again for the amazing restaurants. But probably won’t book with Sea Gull Motel again. Maybe a newer property owned by Kees. They did Try to make things right. But it took a lot of pushing. And they pretty much laughed in my face that I booked a property that was so old. It was totally misrepresented on the booking.com site. Huge disappointment. Our Nextdoor neighbors’ air conditioner went out. So they installed a rusty, clearly old window unit leaving their room open and not secure.
• Diana (7/5): - Good location. Clean rooms. Very short walk to beach Ice machine broken. Mattress on bed very lumpy. Internet -TV did not work.
• Linda (2/5): A dreadful experience!!! - Really nothing good to say. Mattress was like sleeping on a lumpy water bed. TV did not work, refrigerator did not work. No curtains so bright outside light kept the room lit up all night. Floors were filthy. Crowds of loud cars and people were in the parking lot for several hours at night.

Would like to have curtains at the windows over the blinds, the daylight was brutal when the sun rose. More towels would have been nice.

• Priscilla (7/5): Ok for a cheap night stay that you may need last minute. But don’t expect luxury or comfort. - Convenience and instance access with a code. The beds were not comfortable, the beds were too short. I am 5’2” and my feet were falling off the bed end. Luckily my husband and I were able to each sleep across the two beds. They are not the traditional double bed size, much smaller. Also we could hear the neighbors above us every time they walked or dropped something on the floor all hours of he night and heard the conversation of our neighbors next door. The walls and floors must be super thin.

• Josh (7/5): Cleanest Motel Stay-Hatteras Island!! - This was one of the cleanest motels I've ever visited...for a last minute early morning ferry ride to Ocracoke Island. CONGRATS to the staff and cleaning crew for a clean unexpected room presentation that has not gone unnoticed and surely speaks to how other motels can improve!! Thanks again! A remote management team and was unexpected but they were prompt with the last minute reservation booking.

I did a late night booking and the online support was easy to navigate and very responsive. I love the key coded entry. Ice machine was broken, that was a huge bummer.
• Renee (5/5): It was a ok place to sleep and shower nothing fancy uncomfortable beds and little far from pier and food places for pric - It was a decent motel not too bad The ice machine was broken down the entire time I was there the bathroom door was hard to open and close bc it was swollen at the bottom no clean towels or wash clothes the entire time luckily I bought some from home no food delivery places to the motel and it was a little far from pier

We will definitely be back. I didn't care that some of the short term residents piled up garbage and was spilling over, instead of using the dumpster.

• Craig (6/5): Nice, no-frills motel in a good location - Clean, comfortable room. Served the purpose of one night to lay our heads and clean up after a day at the beach. Did not check out the pool or anything, wasn't there long enough. but it looked nice and plenty of people using it. Shower was big and plenty of hot water. Bed comfortable and clean. Location was perfect, parking was great. Was able to park right in front of our room so unloading/loading was easy. Quiet property. Being pet friendly was a huge plus, easy to walk the dog, plenty of grassy areas. Kitchen area was tight, but surprisingly well stocked. Large roomy fridge, could have cooked meals here if we wanted to. Pretty sure our room (100) used to be the front office. All tile floors, not really set up to be a bedroom/hotel room. It was obvious they just cleared out the office stuff, threw a bed and table in there and called it a room. But was not awful. Only one AC unit (the window one) worked. Split unit on the wall was non functional, but it was not extremely warm when we were there so we were fine with just the window unit. Might have been and issue in the dead of summer. Very sparse room, and no blanket/comforter on the bed which we found odd, just sheets. Watch out for the fire ant mounds in the grassy areas. Do not go into staying here thinking you are at a 5 star resort and you will not be disappointed.

I would stay again but would recommend putting steps to head over to the beach. - Location was great When booking pictures showed steps to the beach from property but when actually getting there, there were no steps to the beach.. I booked here due to seeing steps to the beach in the pictures due to having elderly family. Also when arriving and went to use the pool, the pool was dirty. And not a big fan of 4pm check-in.. Would’ve liked an option of early check-in if room was already clean.

• McAllister (4/5): - Previous visitors and harsh weather have destroyed the AC and carpet is a nightmare. Just do tile!!! Evening fake tile or linoleum would work. Keep a spare remote on hand or window unit for when the AC fails. Staff will text and pretend to be responsive and then nothing will get fixed. Ask to switch rooms? Fat chance. Pool is clean, right on a beautiful beach. Restaurants near by. Beds are extremely uncomfortable. Bathrooms weee clean, sheets were clean, surfaces clean. Carpet was disgustingly wet and smells of urine and burns to be barefoot on. Why carpet on a beach? No idea. Want to watch TV? The previous guests stole the remote while on meth so it’s only Big Bang theory and wrestling on at full volume. Can only turn on the tv and turn off by unplugging it. There is a wall AC that barely works. It’s supplemented by a broke AC that blows hot air? Sleep in a pool of sweat! Enjoy.

• Ron (2/5): - Terrible beds and outdated rooms, outlets and cable TV did not work. A paint job of a room is not renovation!!! They provide linens- in a bag at the door- you make up the room yourself. They do not clean but leave you a broom. Room was not ready- we had to come back an hour later. And they leave a tip envelope for house- keeping that does not exist. Stay away from this one !!!!

• Brandy (8/5): Very good - Location and beach access were great. The room was big and everything worked well, TV, appliances, AC. I had to call to get our access code, but the staff that answered was very polite and efficient. The place is dated. Walls are thin and easy to hear everything in the next room and outside. (Not sure what can be done to fix this.) The mattress was very soft with no support at all. Also, the room felt damp and humid unless the AC was turned down below 68°.

No coffee cups in room... which ended up not being a big deal bc the coffee maker was broken. Good location next to beach, but absolutely not worth the price
• Sudipta (8/5): Overall a nice , comfortable motel for a night or 2. Close to the running Cape Hatteras shore - A descent and clean motel very next to the beach of the National seashore. We booked 2 units Check in process took some time to call up the call center and getting the lock codes but was smooth. Rooms were clean overall and comfortable. On premise parking Next to the beach within 2 mins walking Only thing missing was 1 of the rooms was not refilled with soap/shampoos and the Coffee Machine was not working. Slightly over priced even being 1.5 hours from Nagshead. Rest is good for a night of stay. Overall good. 1 of the rooms was not refilled with soap/shampoos and the Coffee Machine was not working. Not a big issue to shout out though.

• Mary (6/5): Do Better - The positive: it was ocean front and a short walk into the beach. The pool was clean and well maintained. The negatives: the bed had huge indentions and sank when sitting on it. You were sleeping in a hole. The pillows were good. The main a/c was broken and they had installed a window unit and you couldn’t shut the blinds because you’d block the air so everyone that walked by could see you. It is a pet friendly place and I knew that and I’m allergic to dogs. Usually I don’t have a problem because they clean the rooms. Our room had tons of dog hair everywhere. You couldn’t sit anything down without it getting on it. I think the only thing the cleaning person did was change the sheets and put out clean towels before our stay. There’s no way they swept. There was a broom in the rooms and we swept and got up enough dog hair to make a wig. This is not acceptable. They need to make sure they clean the rooms better. It made me very sick.

Therefor I didn't get an access code to my room and had to search for another place to stay. - I was in contact with Kees as well as booking.com. Unfortunately nobody feels responsible for a refund and therefor I am waiting for it ever since.

• Jennifer (7/5): Nice Beach! - Liked being close to the beach! Close to Cape Hatteras too! Rooms were clean. Air conditioner worked very well. Not enough towels were supplied. Had to ask for towels a couple of times. Need a lift or elevator to get stuff to 2nd level. Water from sink and shower did not drain well.

• Tia (7/5): Good - Location, Location, Location! Room is a big room. Large king size bed. Couch, table and 2 chairs, TV, desk, microwave, fridge no freezer. Large sink area. When we arrived, we didn't see a office to check in. I called and they got me all the room details over the phone. We thought this was very strange! The toilet and shower were not in the best of shape. When we arrived it smelled like smoke and weed.

• Robert (8/5): Great place to spend a night on our Outer Banks adventure. - It was a great place to spend the night during our road trip along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We didn't need much, just a place to sleep for the night, and it was great. We enjoyed the evening at the beach. The Keurig coffee maker worked, but the top part had to be manually held down to brew our coffee. That was the only thing I would suggest changing out. Everything else was wonderful.
• Ebony (5/5): gets the job done. - this motels serverd as additional rooms from the beach down the street that was rented. clean enough does the job as somewhere to sleep at the end of the night. the bed werent bad, but definitely need to be upgraded.
• Sokoni (1/5): Disaster room - The only thing good was the location and the locals I walked in, and it was dirty like it was not cleaned. Hair was everywhere toothpaste, coffee machine was very dirty, bugs everywhere. And the tub was not clean at all.

Then moldy smell second day. Tile floors super slick, almost fell. No staff on site. No maid service for 2nd day. No coffee for full perculator. No tv directions. $75 please. We have multipule social media outlets Take it as a threat or a promise.
• Jessica (10/5): Everything you need. - Clean, comfortable and spacious! King suite was perfect! Nice kitchenette which is perfect for basic cooking. Bathroom is HUGE with a great shower! Nice dining table. Internet is a little slow but nothing major.
