Guest Reviews
- James (10/5): Great place, highly recommended - Check in is at 2pm as in many cases in Thailand. It was a challenge to coordinate flight and booking time. We arrived around noon and the receptionist let us store our luggage inside and said to come back around 13:00 to give her time to clean the room. Location is great with a self serve laundry a walk away, food and finding a Tuk tuk just a short walk along with historical sites. I would stay there again and recommend others to stay as well.
- Erin (10/5): Fantastic Stay! - Fantastic stay! Coming back in a few days for New Years. Staff was amazing. Thong was so friendly, gave us lots of recommendations. Filtered water, tea and coffee available down at the lobby. And let’s talk about the building itself. So unique, lovely decor, comfortable seating. Enjoyed it all!
- hong (6/5): - Front desk lady has no motivation
No greetings nor welcome gesture at all.
Room floor has a lots of tiny insects and bed sheet has filthy stein. I notified to cleaner and fix it all for next guests. Refrigerator made noise on and off all night. Need to replace or fix it
- Liz (6/5): - Most importantly, it's called a bed and breakfast, but they don't do breakfast. I think they might have once upon a time, but not anymore. A change of name/description is needed!! It's misleading.
On the whole, it's a beautiful place and the staff are amazing, but it misses the mark. It's about a ten minute walk to the old city which doesn't sound like much, but the road is super busy and no pavements. There are no kettles in the room. There is a pot of instant coffee and hot water you can use downstairs and tiny cups - you have to give CPR to the hot water machine. The shower is terrible. It's handheld, which I'm used to, but also the pressure is constantly changing. If you want a relaxing shower after a long day, this is not for you. The TV is not an appropriate size for the size of the room. It's postage stamp small. I'm not someone who spends much time watching the TV, but again after a busy day, it helps me to unwind and relax.
Positives are the size of the room, cleanliness and friendly staff.
Personally I wouldn't stay again and would find somewhere within the old city. I chose this place as it looks beautiful, but as they say, beauty is only skin deep. I feel like some small changes could really improve customer experience. First of all, change the name or do breakfast. It's a really bad first impression. To arrive and find out after you've already booked and paid for the room feels deceptive.
- Jacob (2/5): This hotel is CLOSED (15aug2021) - Upon arrival the entrance door was closed and inside it was dark. A student living in the area confirmed they are closed.
The hotel only accepts non-refundable bookings.
- david (10/5): Excellent Vacation Stop - King sized super comfortable beds were awesome! Had mosquitos and they immediately brought in a mosquito killing machine and left for our entire 4 day stay! Ji at front desk was extremely helpful and a joy to be around, other afternoon-night person also very helpful. Only change that I would suggest is adding more options to breakfast buffet, it was good but more choices would have better. Will stay there again in the future.
- Ka Kit (10/5): Hidden gem! - Though it’s a certain distance from attractions, the area is quiet and clean. And to be honest, even a crowded centre hotel with 5-min walk at noon is very hot, so why don’t spend less on hotel and call grab to bring you anywhere you want?
- Emily (10/5): Bang for your buck! - Had a great time and would definitely recommend this hotel! It was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The staff was attentive and kind! No complaints here.
- Bruno (6/5): - Room without a window, it looked like being in a prison. Cleanliness not perfect but ok. Staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast very disappointing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice hotel ,location ,clean and peachful.Staffs are very nice and kindly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very helpful, friendly staff! Interesting, pretty decor. Comfortable and clean. Nice value for the price. Suggestion: tell tuk-tuk drivers that it’s very close to Wat Pa Pao. :)
- Agne (6/5): Disappointed - Very friendly staff. Hotel room very clean and not much to complain (get what you pay for).
However breakfast very disappointing- poor choice of cheap sausages and tasteless ham, boiled eggs. The best was toast and cereals.
Location is not very convenient to anything - you will need tuk tuk or other transport for pretty much everything.
Chiang Mai streets are very dirty and full of cockroaches, rats - so unless you are prepared for this experience other vise I wouldn’t recommend it all.
There are much nicer places in Asia !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good
- Monkeyjoyz (10/5): Nice place and staffs - Enjoy the decorations and should take photos there
- Tracee (10/5): Excellent - Always love this place. Super clean, good bathrooms, right across from the Si Phum Gate on the Northeast side of town.
- Raziel (10/5): - This hotel met all of our expectations. Clean, comfortable, and friendly staff. Not too far away from the city center and the price was unbeatable. Breakfast could have been better but overall we were very happy with our stay.
- Christopher (10/5): Beautifully designed. I loved it - Beautiful hotel very tastefully designed. Friendly reception.
- Jimmy (10/5): Very pleasant stay - The hotel is close to everything. Songtaews for Doi Suthep temple are organized on the north side of the old city moat (towards the eastern end) which is very close to this hotel. The staff (Tong) has good English and was very eager to help. Generous breakfast buffet. The room has separate toilet and shower. Free coffee and cookies all day. Room is clean and comfortable (king bed, air conditioned).
- Ilene (10/5): Charming lovely stay - charming boutique bed and breakfast in a quieter more local area. Walking distance or quick red cab or uber into the old city. Staff especially Ben was warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure I had a great stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Just the bed was a bit firm which I think is common in Thailand.
- Leigh (10/5): Cute hotel down a quiet lane near the old city - We loved this place. Friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable room, walking distance to the old city .
- Tracee (10/5): Wonderful - The Si Phum is a lovely place to stay. So tastefully appointed and a wonderful staff. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are good. Location is just outside the old city and close enough to walk into the old city area. It is a little hard to find so it might be a good idea to print out a map for your taxi driver. Breakfast is not great but sufficient...a little fruit, hot dogs, ramen, white bread and jam, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee.
- Erlyn (8/5): - It was good - save for the construction that was on-going beside it which is not the fault of the hotel. I loved the vibe. Location was nice too. Whenever I travel for leisure, I prefer to stay in quaint hotels with personality. And Si Phum Heritage did not fail me on that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel with friendly staffs. - Very friendly staffs. Clean hotel with good price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable hotel in good location - Comfortable and clean, staff were helpful and courteous. Great location, walking distance to the Old City. A couple of minor issues in the room (e.g. shower and sink draining slowly) but overall would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Highly recommended! - Value for money, excellent service and good location in the old city
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing staff and adorable B&B - The staff were incredibly helpful at Si Phum. They were super accommodating and made any phone calls we needed them to make, arranged tours, and overall were super warm and caring. The interior is adorable and cozy. The hotel was also within walking distance to the Sunday night market and to fun bars/restaurants, money exchange, motorbike rentals, etc. I would 100% stay here again!
- Adam (10/5): Clean, tasteful and elegant hotel - After staying in many b&bs, guest houses etc all over the world, I can honestly say that this is the best one I've been to anywhere on the planet. Very, clean, superbly decorated in a vintage style, spacious and expensively finished, with an extremely comfortable bed, I could not find a single negative aspect during my stay. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. Next time I am in Chiangmai, this will be where I will stay.
- Alice (10/5): Homey feel, great place to stay. - Hotel staff is awesome! Really enjoyed our stay. Lots of sights to see.
- chiara (8/5): cosy hotel ! Nice and clean - good experience. The hotel, rooms and facilities are clean and quite new. The Breakfast area is ok. No great quality but was fine. T
- Jaclyn (10/5): A little gem, perfect for a visit to Chiang Mai! - The guesthouse is ideally situated and in a nice quiet spot. We were really happy to see that the photos showed it to be exactly the same - a gorgeous little hideaway with lots of character! The staff are all very friendly and helpful and it's very clean. It was nice to have free bottled water stocked into the fridge every day and there was tea and coffee available all day downstairs. The only small negative was the breakfast offering - perhaps it would be better to offer guests to pay extra for something more substantial rather than the slightly odd selection of free food?
- Carolyn (10/5): clean, quiet and restful - Stayed one night and wished i could stay longer. Especially liked the quiet location. The room was clean and comfortable.
- Khushi (6/5): Cute, friendly hotel with easy city access - This hotel provided what I was looking for, namely a location near to the city without being in the center with a friendly feel. When I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist in a friendly and accommodating way. Throughout my week stay, I found all the staff to be friendly and easy to talk to which helped me to really feel at home in the facilities.
The location was perfect for me: easy walking distance to many stores and restaurants yet a quiet place to stay. Public transportation is readily accessible.
The facilities were very cute, comfortable, and practical, providing a very cozy atmosphere. There were a few screws loose in different appliances (lamp, faucet, etc.) which made them wobbly but didn't affect the function.
The biggest drawback for me was the limited breakfast. It was clearly designed with Asian tourists in mind with noodle packets, ham and sausage, and rolls with filling. There was also toast, fresh fruit, and hardboiled eggs as well as cereal, juice, and tea. This was all fine for the first morning or two, but I would have enjoyed some other forms of eggs, yogurt, and some kind of pancake to give some more variety.
Overall it was a lovely stay that I would consider again, and if breakfast doesn't make a difference to you, I would highly recommend it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little hotel with style and character - Beautiful hotel and a great value for money! The staff was super-helpful. Clean rooms. Whenever in Chiang Mai, stay at the Si Phum Heritage!
- Emily (8/5): Great value - Pros:
- Location is right outside Old City
- Clean, AC worked well, Wifi was fast
Cons:
- Breakfast is lacking
- Only one person at the front of the desk meant that we needed to wait for service every once in awhile
- Daniel (10/5): personalised hotel - It has few rooms so the staff can follow your needs and suggest great plans for you.
- D (2/5): Cannot be WORSE -
I made four consecutive nights reservation of superior room, at much higher than normal p during Christmas season.
At the first evening, the shield of exhaust fan fell on the floor when i was using restroom. I reported to receptionist, he promised to fix next day.
The second evening, the shield was put to the right place. But it fell on the floor again when i was in the restroom. I reported again and started worrying about safy issue, and asked to change a room, the receptionist REFUSED WITHOUT HESITATION (i saw someone checked out). It's not acceptable, i negotiated again, the receptionist Finally contacted the owner, agreed to change room for me, two nights in different rooms.
I made an one day tour appointment via this bnb to visit national park. The receptionist gave me a 2000bahts package at the first place(2 times higher than normal price), i said i could only accept 900bahts, the receptionist agreed. BUT I FOUND OUT THE FACT THAT HE BOOKED ME A WRONG TOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOUR(700bahts valued), to elephant riding tour. HE REFUSED TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT REDUND. But after i continued to ask for refund, the receptionist finally contacted the owner, i got 200bahts back as exact number i required.
The fourth day morning, i went to reception to get my fourth night room key as told to do so. The male receptionist started yelling at me, saying why i want to change room all the time, if i want change room again he will charge me more (WHAT?). THEN THE OWNER WAS THERE
- Steven (10/5): Clean hotel - Stayed in the Heritage room. Great value, Friendly staff, nice room, only downside are the very hard beds.
- Ida Rae (6/5): Clean and charming hotel with very thin walls. - This place would be a great place. It's inexpensive, clean, has nice rooms close to the old city, but the walls are paper thin! I was wondering why the place was so inexpensive because it was cute and clean and quite spacious. If you're lucky enough not have a loud group next to your room, the hotel is perfect. We unfortunately lucked out our two days there. Other than that, the service is friendly and location is just outside the old city on the east side, and walkable to a lot of action.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Boutique hotel very clean - Just outside of the city walls, awesome staffers, small breakfast daily, four story building but no lift. There are 32 stars to the top and at +32 with humidity feeling like +40 those are a lot of stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best B&B experience - I enjoyed my stay at Si Phum Heritage so much, great atmosphere and very friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend it to anyone on a budget. Cleanliness is extremely important to me and I've had bad experiences with this in some very good 4* hotels. Not here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful design, comfy, clean and economical. - Super friendly staff, even the security guard. Beautiful architecture and interior design. And was very reasonable price. Breakfast was good but certainly I've had better.
- Gregory (8/5): Great Spot - Nice staff good location cool spot.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good Overall Value Bed and Breakfast - No frills B&B, but a good price. Breakfast was very basic buffet. Room had a good air conditioner and king sized bed. I slept very well as it was a welcome location from the hot and humid outdoor weather. Lobby was fairly Spartan with no air conditioning, which was did not conducive for spending time in the common area.
- Gregory (10/5): Chiang Mai's best spot! - One of the best places we have stayed in Asia! Unique, clean, spacious and great customer service! So good we're going back in a couple nights!
- Joshua (10/5): Best stay in Asia so far! - We loved our stay here! The hotel is updated and very clean. The two front desk ladies were so kind and helpful. We booked our motorbike, elephant sanctuary trip, and bus to Pai with the ladies at the front desk and they took care of everything. The breakfast at the hotel was a great start to our day. Overall, best hotel during our trip in Asia so far. Great value!
- Andrej (8/5): good value for money... - nice place, simple, clean, central...
- Po Wen (10/5): 值得一住的特色民宿 - 地點雖然不熱鬧但是到哪都方便,服務好價格優,唯一缺點床太硬
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel, great location - The hotel was easy to find, not too far from the main attractions. Beautiful design, the main parts of the hotel are spotless and the service is good. The room was spacious, and the bed comfortable.
The only negative aspect : the cleanliness of the bathroom could have been better (lipstick stains on the "unused" glasses).
- Jasmine (10/5): Wonderful stay - The b&b is located near Si Phum corner, the edge of the old city, slightly further away from the main walking street that near Thae Pae gate. There is a small market nearby when you are on the way walking to Thae Pae gate. It hides in an alley but when you walk out to the main road, it's very easy to get a song thaew. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The b&b is beautifully decorated and it make you feel like home. The only pitfall is that the b&b has no lift so if you are staying on 4tg floor you have to lift your baggage up and down. However, overall this is a good stay! Strongly recommend Chiang Mai traveler to stay here!
- David (10/5): Very nice hotel - Very friendly and helpful.
- Taylor (10/5): Amazing stay in Chiang Mai - My boyfriend and I spent three nights total here and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is in amazing condition and the price is so affordable for the quality of the hotel. The room was large and beautifully designed, perfectly clean and very pleasant. The breakfast each morning is good too. The best part was the service. The receptionist was so kind and welcoming and made our stay in Chiang Mai really memorable. Definitely 5/5 recommend.
