Maura (8/5): - Cute place. Bed was comfy, everything was clean. Shared kitchen space was great to keep stuff cold overnight. For the value, would definitely stay here again! Bed was pushed against a wall, so if you have two people, one person has to scoot on/out. The room door didn't seal, so we could hear "hallway noise" throughout the night.

The shared space was fun- meeting others and hearing what they were up to Not much not to like! It was very hard to find though. Signage not great. Happy they allow dogs. It would be kind of nice if there was more assistance at check in etc.

However, when I called the owner Adam for assistance he was VERY helpful. We would stay there again. It was very neat and clean.

Joan (10/5): - The end was exactly what we needed. We stayed in the indigo room and were able to bring our dog with us. It’s so close to everything and getting a breakfast. Breakfast pastry and coffee at Northern grounds was the icing on the cake. The indigo room is on the third floor so there are a lot of stairs involved. People should realize that. the Inn has been remodeled with naughty Pine everywhere and modern fixtures. It was super clean and beds are quite comfortable.

William (10/5): We highly recommend A Stay Inn Ely. This was our fourth stay here and will now always be our “go to” spot. - A Stay Inn Ely is perfectly located in “downtown” Ely. The property is so charming with a great open kitchen / living room space with a beautiful gas burning fireplace. There isn’t anything not to like about A Stay Inn Ely.
Tyler (4/5): - Would not recommend. You could tell it wasn't dusted recently but otherwise it was ok, small rooms. The service was terrible, however. I left a pillow in the room and immediately called and spoke with the owner about this. She informed me that she would promptly call the supervisor on duty and that she would have this individual contact me to arrange when I could grab my pillow, before I left the Ely area. This never happened and I tried calling back before I left Ely and spoke to another supervisor whom assured me that this pillow would be mailed to me. This was mailed to me, however, this agency billed my credit card without my approval, voiced that I would be refunded, and then was ignored and not replied to again. You can find better places to stay regardless but the customer service was extremely poor, and remains poor, as I made every effort to obtain my belongings before leaving town and was never told I would be charged $30 for shipping.... not cool
Dxt (10/5): A nice surprise, and absolute sweet spot. - Charming. Peaceful. Convenient. And LOVE the free muffin and coffee next door!!! Really nothing I didn't like. Maybe a dish cloth or sponge wasn't available at the kitchen sink, so I cleaned teapot as best I could. 😉

Sheila (10/5): Cozy place - Great place. Clean and cozy. The room was chilly even with the heat up, discovered the next day the window on the door was open. Very quiet stay. No one was around, wasn’t sure if we could put things in the fridge. No local tv, Netflix was provided which was a nice touch but we wanted weather. We would definitely stay again! Appreciate they don’t charge extra for a dog.

The common area downstairs was perfect for snacks/meals and an all around welcoming space to relax by the fireplace and meet some new friends! Don’t forget to stop at the coffee shop with fresh locally roasted coffee and fresh baked goods! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Had to make a late call one night to have a relative of the owners come to get us in. It was a cold, snowy night, so very uncomfortable for all of us.

Todd (8/5): Simple Place - The place is basic a a good value -- There is no "front desk" or on-site rep. Look for your email for access information. Also might be a little hard to find as it is a house on main street Ely. Just rely on Google Maps and you'll be fine. Parking in on the side of the house or off the ally in back.
Steve (8/5): - We were surprised when we arrived that there was no one present to greet us, just a piece of paper with door codes and basic rules/instructions. We were not aware that the property was basically an Airbnb or Vrbo. The property itself was clean and well kept. Our room was nice except for the bathroom. It had a pedestal sink, so there was nowhere to put toiletries, and there were no towel hooks or rods, so towels had to be draped over furniture in the room. The shower was great - no complaints there. The bed and the pillows were extremely comfortable - some of the best we've ever used. We were told that there was a "grab and go" breakfast, which was true but misleading. Breakfast was provided at the coffee shop a block and a half down the street, not in the building, and it consisted of a free cup of coffee and muffin or $7 off your purchase of other food. The food was good, so we can't really complain, but it was not what we were expecting. The TV used Roku, and we weren't able to find anything to watch, but that might have been our fault for not being tech savvy. The TV instruction page said to press the AT&T button on the remote, but there was no AT&T button. This was a minor inconvenience because we don't go on vacation to watch TV. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would likely stay again.

Very limited parking and it was so dark in front we had a hard time finding the entrence. It was NOT worth the money spent to stay there. When returning to Ely We will stay in a different town before going back to this place. When paying $170,00,a person should get a warm clean room at the very best. We have stayed in better places that cost less than 1/2 this amount. We deserve some monetary consideration to make it right,

Jenna (10/5): Cozy spot in downtown Ely - We have stayed here a couple times now & have had a lovely experience! We were heading into the BWCA the following day and love that they give you credit to the coffee shop down the road for breakfast. It is also really nice having the shared space for a kitchen, fridge, etc. if you are traveling with a family or cooler food! People that stay here have always been very respective in the shared spaced. I also love that it's keyless entry and you simply get a code to get in! So nifty! We have always loved wondering the Ely shops as well which you have great access to from this property. The 5-person room is HUGE also and has a porch. NA - we really enjoyed our short stop!

Scott (10/5): Exceptional stay - Wow, so impressed! This cute house turned Inn is in town walkable to everything. There are 5 bedrooms with use of the common area living room with fireplace, dining area, kitchen and dining table on the outside deck. We were in The Crimson Room which had an outside entry door too. Coffee and teas, games and books and cards are available. Free coffee and a breakfast item was provided at the coffee shop one block down the street. Refrig/freezer was nice to keep our drinks and cooler items cold, ice was nice to have for cold drinks. Our room was cozy with built-in bed, little sofa and large bathroom. Everything is new-like, no carpet anywhere so smelled nice, and in excellent condition. Self check-in was easy. We met other nice guests while we were there. I would highly recommend if you are ever in the area. Thank you to the owners for such a great stay. We will definitely be back.

Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Central location. Appears to have been recently remodeled. Poorly signed. Drove past inn 3 or 4 times before calling for directions. Also should be clear that there are a lot of stairs.
Becky (10/5): - We had everything we needed and loved having access to a kitchen and living area. The in town location was perfect and we enjoying walking down the street to the Northern Grounds coffee shop for our free coffee and pastry. Nice touch!
Randy (9/5): Superb - Great location for walking into town for diner and shopping. TV did not work, digital clock did not work.
Kelly (10/5): - So clean, conviene and a unique mix of a bed and breakfast mixed with hostel-like lodging. Will be back.
Gretchen (9/5): Cute room, good beds, full kitchen available. - Very cute room, comfortable beds, nice to have full kitchen. Loved the bunks in a separate area for the kids. And free coffee and muffins at cafe down the block. It was nice to walk to local businesses. The AC unit was loud and didn't work that well.

Tiffany (4/5): - Wouldn’t stay here again. Drove past the hotel 3 times before “finding” it. Hotel sign not very visible. There was a few sticky, black marks on floor of hotel room. There were no batteries in the remote for the television. I called the after hours number and told them and they said they would try and find someone to bring batteries. The “Ivory” room were booked is advertised with a television and cable tv. You need a remote control to work the tv. I would never stay here again. It has been about two hours since I reported tv remote not working. I have not heard anything back from anyone.
John (9/5): Good; I would stay again - Overall good, check-in smooth. Light on porch outside door made room lit all night. Recommend turnoff time during night or drape/shade for door. To call coffee/muffin "breakfast" seems bit of a stretch.

Ginger (8/5): Great location, needs new sign - Location. Comfy bed. Posted sign is almost invisible due to deterioration and fading. Either Bookings or owner neglected to email me and/or leave a letter of instruction for my room. I had to call the owner. Got an email.
Chris (8/5): Easy and Convenient - My one night stay was good. The room was as advertised.
Derek (6/5): - As somebody who is allergic to dogs, I guess I would have liked a bit of a heads up that they allowed animals on this property. There were several clumps of dog hair left behind on the ground throughout the room and the bathroom. I did take photos, but I did not alert staff. We did not spend much time in the room, we pretty much were just there to sleep. Pretty pricey for just one night, but it is a tourist town so it was expected.

John (10/5): Good location. Friendly staff at Northern Grounds. - Clean, quiet, cute. Like having your own cabin! Couldn’t get Roku tv to work.
Michael (6/5): - We stayed here 3 nights with our two dogs in the Crimson Room. We enjoyed the great location and walkability around Ely. Other than a dusty headboard the room was very clean. I also liked the convenient access with key codes. The Crimson Room is really small and with our bags, shoes, and two dogs who slept on the floor, it was a real challenge. The private entrance was a nice feature with the dogs. It would have been nice to have a shelf or side table or something to set things on. The only place to lay anything down like a phone, keys, or a cup of coffee was on the headboard of the bed (which was very dusty). They do need to fix the interior door to the Crimson Room. It's loose and anytime someone else opens or closes a door in the rest of the building the Crimson Room door rattles. Another thing to keep in mind is the place is covered in wood (floor, walls, and ceiling). It looks nice, but there is little to no fabric anywhere and that makes every little noise audible. When I was laying in bed I could hear people going up and down the stairs at various hours. The first couple nights we stayed, there were guests in the other rooms that decided to party and be loud in the common area till late in the night which was annoying. Overall, I would say it's a great place to stay in the right situation. Like if you have a large family gathering or a large group, it's a nice idea with the shared common areas.

Samuel (10/5): - Really enjoyed the convenient self service check in. Room was clean and comfortable, and the price was reasonable for the season and area. The included breakfast from the nearby coffee shop was a nice touch! Will definitely stay again next time we're in the Ely area!
