Guest Reviews
- Thomas (10/5): - Lovely place
- Jeremy (10/5): - Pleasant, great, friendly hosts. The property offered great value, WONDERFUL breakfast made from local produce. Elegant rooms. Fabulous bed. Highly recommended and a walk away from Portlaoise Town Center. And my wife got a great tip for making "real" Irish homemade Soda Bread. Delicious!! Great cooks, great stay!
- Brendan (10/5): - Incredible breakfast, one of the best breakfasts I ever had! Lovely family.
- Marie (10/5): - Perfect B & B if you’re taking the train into town! Right next to the train station, clean room, very comfortable bed, and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!
- Brian (10/5): - My stay here was Irish hospitality at its very best. Lovely traditional house with fabulous breakfast menu. Will definitely be back.
- Gail (10/5): Hidden Gem - Ivyleigh House is a delightfully welcome home right in the middle of Carrig-on-Suir. Walkable to Ormand Castle , pubs, shops, and restaurants. I would certainly like to stay there again. Jerold is super accomodating and very helpful in suggesting places to see and do.
- Charlotte (10/5): - Ivyleigh House has that old world charm that I love. Beautifully appointed rooms and a delicious breakfast made to order. Very quiet yet within walking distance to shops and dining. I truly enjoyed my stay there.
- Karen de (10/5): - The house and rooms are lovely and well appointed. The owners were so nice and accommodating, but above all the food was fabulous. An incredible breakfast treat!
- MARINA (10/5): - The house is beautiful. My room was comfortable and clean and everything you’d need for a happy stay. Breakfast was superb, beautifully prepared and the service was impeccable! Many thanks. 😊

- Richard (10/5): - Hosts are gems and the breakfast is delicious! Highly recommend
- Constance (10/5): - Access to the B&B was convenient with a private parking lot behind the house. Check-in was easy and quick. The room was decorated to reflect the period of the house. The bed was comfortable, chairs were provided, and there was, good lighting, coffee and a hot pot. The bathroom was clean with a large shower and lots of towels and wash cloths. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water but the shower head is in need of replacement. The surrounding grounds were nicely landscaped and maintained. The owners were friendly and helpful. We were served a delicious hot breakfast that we were able to choose from a list of five or so options. We could walk the downtown streets to restaurants, pubs, shopping, coffee, ice cream, bakery, grocery and pharmacy within 3-5 minutes. I would recommend this B&B and I would absolutely stay here again.

The room was large and comfortable, particularly the bed.

- Wanda (10/5): - I stayed in the Lemon Room, a cute little room for one person with en-suite. The breakfast was outstanding in a lovely formal dining room. The brown bread and homemade jams were so good. Warm rhubarb and strawberry compote was an unexpected treat. Seasonal I’m sure as I was told the rhubarb is grown on the property. I would look forward to a return visit.
- Robert (10/5): - Absolutely the best place I have stayed in a month in Ireland. It doesn’t look much from the outside but once you enter it is absolutely fantastic. The people running lot are outstanding. Breakfast is freshly made and over the top. It is spotless inside and rooms are very well equipped and spacious. Would give them seven stars if I could.
- Liam (10/5): - Almost right downtown in a fairly bustling town
- Karen (10/5): Ivyleigh House and the town of Portaouise - We couldn't have been more pleased! Ivyleigh House is a lovely Irish home with kind and thoughtful hosts. We enjoyed our time there and had a breakfast that was amazing. They even had fresh-squeezed orange juice and home-made bread. Everything was locally sourced and excellent. The room was perfect for my daughter and I on a trip around Ireland. We spent some time in the town and enjoyed popping in and out of shops and a delicious Italian dinner.
- Martin (10/5): Read this - What can you say when you have silver service for breakfast. Home made bread leaf tea and such a warm atmosphere in the dining room. It was a pleasure to stay there.
- Robert (8/5): Ideal location - Enjoyed my stay. 2 minute walk to town which was ideal, friendly staff and comfortable room.
- Margaret (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were very welcoming, our room was really comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing. We certainly hope to go back again.

- Paul (10/5): - If you're looking for a hotel style stay, don't come here.
But if you're looking for a comfortable, clean, welcoming centrally located B&B with fabulous ,home cooked, locally sourced breakfasts then this is the place for you.
Breakfast and hosts get 5stars.
- Tom (10/5): Best breakfast ever! - Excellent B&B Host could not be more helpful as I arrived late. Spacious room, immaculately clean. Best home cooked breakfast ever! Would unhesitatingly recommend Ivyleigh
- Niall (8/5): Niall Duff - lovely place great breakfast nice people
- PaulM (8/5): - Lovely old house, friendly attentive owner and really good breakfasts
- ChristineKB (10/5): - Breakfast absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and very welcoming. Would definitely go back.
- David (10/5): Excellent short stay - Friendly welcome, tasty home-made breakfast, large room ... our stay was really good
- JohnMcDaniel (10/5): - I liked our host & hostess the best. The breakfasts were wonderful.
- Julie (10/5): Best Ever! - We wanted to see Ireland without staying in several places. IvyLeigh House was perfect. We rented a car but didn't want to drive in Dublin and pay the parking fees. The train station is a five minute walk from the hotel and took us just an hour to get to Dublin. Because of Ivyleigh's central location, we could go just about anywhere. The Rock of Cashel is a 45 minute drive. Cork is a day trip. As far as the hotel is concerned - we were spoiled! Breakfast was included and we could select what we wanted. The full Irish breakfast was the best I have ever had! The beds were comfy, our hosts delightful, and the place is walkable to Kelly's - a really good place for a steak. The only down side is that our room was upstairs and we had to haul our bags up a flight of stairs.
- Karen (10/5): - Easy walk to the town center. Rooms spacious and warm. Breakfast was delicious and presented elegantly.
- Jen (10/5): - Beautiful and quaint, this place provided large rooms with gracious hosts
- Sean (10/5): Great place, stay was too short! - Really pleasant place, Jerry was a very good host.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to fully appreciate the hotel or take breakfast due to a busy schedule, however these seemed extremely good quality.
Would happily return for a personal visit.
- Kathleen (10/5): September 2018 - Excellent. Lovely period townhouse with real character. Fantastic breakfast. I'll be back.
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful hosts, comfy room and the best breakfast - We had such a wonderful stay at Ivyleigh House, starting with a warm welcome from our hosts. The room was very nice and a really comfortable bed.
The breakfast was by far one of the best we have had and all very fresh.
If you like modern city centre style place this isn't for you but if home comforts and a warm welcome are more. Your thing then I would definitely recommend Ivyleigh. We will certainly return if we were in the area again.
- Susanne (10/5): Wonderful - Travelled through Ireland for two weeks and here was the best B and B I stayed in for the whole trip. I would have loved to stay longer but was pre booked elsewhere. Next trip is a must. Beautiful house. breakfast was divine, everything home made including the bread. I loved this house
- Noreen (10/5): One of the best B&B,s to stay in in Portloise. - Everything about this B&B was exceptional from welcome , room ,parking, quietness ,.despite a 2 min walk to main street.Breakfast was top notch and i would recommend this B&B to anyone
