Guest Reviews
- Justin (10/5): Fantastisch!!! Niks

- brigitha (7/5): Een bijzondere ervaring. - Her personeel is super vriendelijk.

- Jaume (6/5): Giraffe paradise - The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the two lovely giraffes on site were delightful. Also the children’s playground was neat and fun. The room was above a dry riverbed which sadly meant that the room was full of mosquitoes.
- Brigitte (8/5): Beautiful glamping tent in nature with game drive and many animals nearby - Friendly staff, especially in the restaurant and the game drive guide

- Norman (9/5): - Great relaxing place, owners super friendly, fresh breakfast and nice chilling veranda
- Esterhuizen (9/5): -
- GLENN (10/5): Incredible experience staying in a luxury tent & seeing the giraffes up close - Everything & everyone ! The place & people are absolutely amazing. The staff are so friendly & helpful & love their job which it’s totally understandable, I would love to work here🤗
Our tent was fully equipped & we had our 3 course meal delivered to our accommodation due to the restaurant hosting an event. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a complimentary safari the next morning & breakfast was included. We fed the beautiful giraffes Sheila & Lucky who were roaming freely on the land plus we fed the ostriches too. Would highly recommend staying here, didn’t want to leave !! Absolutely nothing
- Vivienne (9/5): - The staff is super nice and accommodating! My tent was just amazing. Definitely an experience to come back to.
- Tölle-Engelking (6/5): -
- Carolann (10/5): Fabulous “glamping” in the Klein Karoo! An truly unique experience - We stayed one night in the luxurious tents. We had two tents - my parents had one and myself, husband and two kids had another. The tents are very spacious and had large comfortable king size beds, they provided two additional camp beds for our kids in our tent and there was still plenty of room. The animals and playpark for kids were a particular highlight - Shelia & Lucky the giraffes stealing the show of course. We were able to relax at the restaurant while our children were in watching distance having a ball in the playground. This was a really amazing glamping experience in the Klein Karoo! The staff were very welcoming. A game drive is included in the stay and that was a lovely experience too.

- Elizabeth (10/5): Ostriches and giraffes, and a bath in a tent! - We stayed in a luxury tent complete with air conditioning and a bath tub! The lodge has 2 rescue giraffes who you can feed, and who live immediately adjacent to the restaurant. They have ostriches, some who they breed. You can feed them, and Thomas gave us a fantastic introduction about them! He also took us for a short drive in the morning where we saw their herd of buffalo.
This was a great stop, between Franschhoek and Plettenberg. We would definitely recommend it! Could do with better lighting on the restaurant terrace
- Lewis (10/5): Amazing experience - Great place, friendly staff, amazing experience
- Lucinda (10/5): -
- Bruce (8/5): Would stay again. - Staff were friendly and accommodating - willing to help with anything. Reception / Breakfast only opened at 8 am
- Chris (8/5): -
- KATHRYN (10/5): - We loved our stay in the tent with the most amazing outlook towards the mountains. The tent had everything we needed, and was so comfortable. All the staff were helpful and friendly and really looked after us. We especially enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in the company of the two giraffes! What a lovely experience!
- Vasilisa (6/5): -
- Ilya (10/5): -
- Marlene (7/5): Tolles Naturerlebnis - Die Unterkunft lag in der Natur Viele große Spinnen im Zelt
- Alexander (7/5): Preis Leistung ausbaufähig, sehr netter Ranger!!!
- Nicole (8/5): Awesome giraffe interaction - Cute and different stay over
- James (5/5): -
- Sean (10/5): Brilliant family location surrounded by wildlife - Service from all staff was excellent. The surroundings eating breakfast while the giraffes and zebra play next to you with Rocky the dog watching them run up and down was fantastic
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Elly (1/5): - The tent was spacious and nicely decorated. This place felt like a scam. It is primarily a goat farm (with hundreds of goats), not an ostrich farm (they have maybe a dozen sad looking ostriches in small dusty pens). We were the only guests and many of the activities were unavailable (no bush dinner, no khoi san trail). They offered us to have a romantic dinner under the stars at our tent but left all three courses in our tent and all the staff then left the site for the evening. The dessert included ice cream which was stored in our mini bar fridge to melt, the mains were left on a hot plate that wasn't switched on to go cold. The lights didn't work outside and the oil lamp didn't work and leaked paraffin profusely so we couldn't see to sit outside and ended up eating cold food on our laps in the tent. There was also no hot water. In the middle of the night, we were woken by noises in the bush and thought - if something had happened - we actually have no way of contacting anyone or getting help which we didn't appreciate! In the morning, when we arrived at 07:21 for our 07:15 game drive, a rude woman at the front desk lied to us and said that the game drive wouldn't be possible because it had already left, and that they only wait 5 minutes and we were too late for it. There were no other guests, and there was only one game drive vehicle which was still parked outside so this was clearly a lie. After complaining about the above issues, the owner came and apologised profusely and organised the game drive for us which the goat farm manager (why not a guide?) came to take us on. I appreciate the apology and the owner took the cost of our meal off the bill but this does not stop me from being thoroughly unimpressed and feel the need to leave a review to let others know. This was not cheap and it is not worth the cost. Be warned.

- Sebastian (8/5): Wenhad a lovely time and also attendet the little game drive in the morning. Mosquito nets would be cool, but it‘s still -
- Yvette (10/5): -
- Birdie (10/5): So homely and a experience we throughly enjoyed as it was personalized - The staff and owner were fabulous went out of their way for us . The service was fantastic and all so friendly and helpful from Elton for the game drive ,Katie on reception and duties , Zee on fabulous service and the great food
plus all the others Nothing

- Cheree (10/5): Open expanse, up close with giraffes, wonderful staff….an unforgettable expereince with every stay - The location was spectacular. It was very cool to be staying on an actual working farm. I want to have meat goats and Boer are the kind I planned to have so it was super cool to see them here. And of course OMG 2 giraffes. What a treat. Love the Sprinkbok too, their colors are beautiful. The food has been excellent. The staff so so so amazing and friendly. Looking forward to feeding the giraffes at breakfast and to go on our included game drive. The ostrich skin covered furiinitue in the dining room is epic. And the animal rugs and busts. This place has been more than I could ever have imagined. so many stars. Highly recommend. So far there is nothing I do not like about the property.
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Abrahams (7/5): Scenic game drive, lovely breakfast, overall enjoyable stay. - Had a lot of different offerings. Beautiful location, very scenic. First night unfortunately didn’t have hot water. Braai was not at the tents but rather at a communal area. Expected a bit more from a glamping experience.
- Derek (8/5): A unique experience - Breakfast was excellent! Disappointed that only one set of towels provided for two people and similarly only one chair on the deck with the table! Disappointed also that there was no view of the bush from the deck! See above plus game drive not really long enough to find anything!
- Gemmel (9/5): Great time - Staff super friendly and accommodating. Delivered our food to our cottage as kids needed to go down. Elton our guide for the game drive was great and really knowledgeable. Feeding the giraffes was a lovely experience. Breakfast great. African wood cottage really spacious and nicely done Nothing
- Abdulla (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was excellent
- Sarah (8/5): Good overnight stop - Brief overnight stay as passing through. Good comms and dinner included in price- basic food choices but perfectly edible!
- Johan (10/5): Great time and great staff - Great place. Will be back
- Nicolas (10/5): - Great stay at Chandelier. Dankie!
- Derek (9/5): Really novel place to stay - Break fast was wonderful. Our tent had a deck with no view unlike others moreover it had a table but only one chair so we could not sit outside together. I would suggest that there be two towels provided where two people stay and that they be replaced daily similarly tea and coffee supply. According to the directory two bottles of filtered water were provided, we only received one! Number of bath towels, lack of replacement by housekeeping. Lack of view and seating on deck!
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful escape from the busy city! -
- Marnel (9/5): Superb - All of it Nothing
- Roy (8/5): Great Stay... But one night ample - Mini Safari! Great fun Glamping! Lovely evening BBQ Not Much!
- Daniel (10/5): Well equipped safari tents and beautiful views. - We stayed in the safari tents which were very well equipped and comfortable. We were happy there was air conditioning. Outside shower was a nice touch. Loved the giraffes and were pleasantly surprised with the free game drive included. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Nothing.
- Mimmo (5/5): Passable -
- Peet (6/5): Pleasant - The spa bath was not clean and could not be used.
- Tjeerd (10/5): Exceptional - We were treated like VIP's by Elton and the dining staff. Loved the game drive and Elton's knowledge of the animals and the veld. Feeding the giraffes at breakfast was a unique experience . There wasn't anything we disliked. Loved the atmosphere 👌
- Wendy (8/5): Sweet place for families to visit - Fun luxury tent within the game reserve but not to far to walk to the main lodge.
Great running/hiking trails
Two giraffes at the main lodge to feed at your own leisure
Great options for tours The hotel hold sundowner evenings for guests which ended up being a young crowd very boozy playing loud music and shouting in the tent right next to us until midnight - not ideal to be next to this as a family with young children so our sleep was significantly disrupted.
Main lodge was a little dated
- Ronel (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (9/5): A great family getaway- braai in boma. Bring a ketti with you to have some family fun on the plains. - Good breakfast- standard fare. The air conditioner in one of our tents was not functional. It took several hours to sort out the problem.
- Avi (8/5): Very good -
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - Family run Game Farm, with lovely owners and amazing staff. Nice tent, with Aircon and outdoor shower, hidden in the bush. Breakfast and dinner very nice. Thanks to all and I will come back.
- Caitlyn (10/5): Unforgettable night with our highlight being feeding the giraffes this morning - Absolutely loved the giraffes being so close to the restaurant’s deck Shower heads could be updated
- Caroline (10/5): Amazing hidden gem in the klein karoo - Such a lovely stay that exceeded our expectations. Comfiest bed of our holiday so far too!
Highly recommend the sundowner game drive and dinner, Elton is so knowledgeable abour everything! and he is a natural storyteller. The ostrich tour was fantastic too, Zenith was friendly and informative and you could tell loved the ostriches. Overall just a brilliant stay and all staff we met were helpful and friendly. Amazing views from the property too. Highly recommend staying here.
- Tichaona (10/5): Would definitely come back again!!! - Serene ecofriendly place, perfect for a getaway with a blend of nature and wildlife. Excellent food/chef. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very comfortable bed. Had the privilege of meeting the owners who are excellent hosts. I enjoyed my stay. I didn't like the fact that I had to leave to return home otherwise I would stay for longer.
- Deborah (8/5): FANTASTIC STAFF AND LOCATION - Location is great! Being able to feed the giraffes is so special. The staff are absolutely awesome and went out of their way to help. There was an issue with water for a couple of hours so we couldn't shower. However, I think that it was due to a problem with a pump, which they attended to at night after we called them. So by morning, everything was restored.
- Stephanie (6/5): Pleasant - Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very childfriendly. Nice park. Amazing ranger. They try very hard. Great sunset tour. Rooms are a bit old and the sanitary installation should be overhauled. Quality of the food at the restaurant was poor.
- Barbara (8/5): Very good - Guidelines in the tent on procedures, times etc eg what time is breakfast, WiFi codes etc
- Annalize (3/5): Overpriced, rundown and a huge disappointment - The breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and are the highlight of the property. It is a beautiful and quiet area The Lodge is advertised as a 4-star property but unfortunately it is anything but that. The cabin we stayed in was neglected and old. Cracks in the wall, old curtains, and an overly run down feeling. The outside table was very dirty and the sofa in the living room area so old that you could not sit properly on it. The restaurant dinner was hearty but completely overcooked. Overall over-priced for what you get. I paid a premium price for some luxury, but the reality was very poor. This place will need a major revamp to meet the promises on the website
- Kerri (10/5): Beautiful spot with fab staff lovely accommodation and get to hand fed giraffes and ostriches - Highly recommend this property we stayed at the Family Bungalow - African Log Home where Elton had a fire waiting for us hand fed the giraffes and the ostriches and got to see buffalo up close don't miss out

- Kevin (8/5): Great place to stay - We were only here 1 night but it was a lovely place and we did a small game drive in the morning and fed the giraffe
- Tina (9/5): Superb - Safari for house guests included. Giraffe feeding wonderful.
Loved the outside shower at the tents.
- Boryana (9/5): Superb -
- Villa (9/5): A top place to stay! - The place is amazing what we loved most was the evening special dinner in the mountains with a super guide! He explained to us all the stars in this such magical setting. The ostrich tour was fun as well! I really recommend this place.
- Jens (3/5): A night with mosquitoes.... - Outdoor shower at tent-house. Giraffe in the garden. Unfortunately the positive aspects were over-shadowed by the fact that we had our tent-house full of rather agressive mosquitoes coming out at night and being active until sunrise. Didn't get much sleep so kind of ruined the day after also, We didn't get to experience the morning game drive or the ostriches because we were too tired. I counted minimum 30 bites on my 11-years-old next day. Not very nice to have a crying child under attack the entire night with no place to go (reception building is like 1 km from the tent-houses and I also assumed unmanned at night). A simple mosquito net over the beds would have helped a lot. Why this is missing just goes beyond my understanding. We had paid for 2 nights but left the afternoon after first night as we found alternative accommodation. The otherwise kind reception staff apologised at check out and also offered a different place to sleep for the second night but we really didn't feel like staying and will not come back again.
- Roberto (9/5): Superb - View, silence They don't have breakfast
We left 1 day before by mistake and the reception didn't advise us about it.
- Daniel (9/5): We had a wonderful time at Chandelier. Location, facilities, atmosphere and the helpful team were just amazing. We reall -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Supernice people, amazing setting and just perfekt. Thanks for this experience!
- Fabienne (9/5): Highly recommended! - We booked the tent which was relatively luxurious with AC, bathtub & proper furniture. We especially liked the outdoor-shower and the surroundings. Fantastic morning game drive & breakfast included & we could feed giraffes directly from the the platform, which was amazing.
