Guest Reviews
- Eszter Zsofia (9/5): Hidden gem - Staff is extremely friendly and standby watching on the guest's requests. Quiet beach, apart from traffic, it is like a hidden gem. Own beach, lodges in the hillside. Lobby is super atmospheric. It is not a high-end fancy resort-like hotel, which gives it an extra plus if you are seeking something relaxing. Breakfast is modest but tasty, dinner is good portion, freshly made, tastes good.View is spectacular. It all felt like we are living with local people. Garden is beautiful, lot of nice flowers. Lodge is big and we had a baldachin. We celebrated our Honeymoon and they did a really nice welcoming suprise, the only hotel out of the 5 we stayed during our Honeymoon. You need to prepare with a lot of insect repellent as there are a lot of mosquitoes and also if you want to reach the road up on the hill, you need to take a 5-6 mins uphill walk. Also to the lobby/breakfast/dinner area and the beach from our lodge was 4 mins one way walk.
- Strassnick (7/5): - Great vibe 120 steps fromm sand to villa

- Michael (8/5): Great hotel, but prebook pick up with hotel if travelling with suitcases. - Very beautiful setting. The staff were very friendly. The rooms are so cool. Carrying large suitcases down from the main road was soul destroying and Im not a small guy. Definitely contact hotel for a pick up if arriving with suitcases. Otherwise a very lovely hotel.

- Lidia (7/5): Charming bungalows with amazing views - I loved this small private resort with its own beach. Its very unique and charming. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and organised trips/ transfers. The bungalows are traditional wooden style and their balconies have a great view of the lagoon. Its not very easy to get to/from especially after dark. The path from the top of the resort is not well lit and can be slippery if wet.
There are also a lot of stairs! So if you have mobility issues, you might want to consider another place to stay.
- Jean Francois (9/5): - Lieu top
Personnel top
- Joe (9/5): -
- Michal (10/5): - spot, equipment, vibe and above all the most fabulous staff
- Karen (10/5): Lovely quiet spot - The way the property was designed, with all units over looking the view, lovely big room and balcony (on ours) There are ALOT of steps and some are ‘tricky’… but don’t be put off by them
- Florian (10/5): - Amazing reef at the hotel and food and friednly staff, amazing sunsets
- Scott (10/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Stefanie (8/5): -
- Tanty (10/5): - Love the room, is pretty clean, bathroom is pretty big.
- Christian (8/5): - Go by boat!
As other have said the walk from the road to the hotel is pretty brutal.. its not actually that far but you do have to be fit and sure-footed due to how steep and loose the surface is... the hotel staff are amazing, views amazing, snorkeling is pretty good off the clean beach.
They offer a boat taxi and can organise a car taxi (scooter taxis are most common) to pick you up.. this makes the walk a lot easier as the reception is literally on the beach...
Id happily stay here again and would recommend to anyone with reasonable fitness levels.
All rooms and cabins are up the pretty steep hill. So be aware before booking.
- Michelle (10/5): - This was a beautiful stay in a family run beach side hotel. Our hosts were so friendly, food was great and the view was fabulous. Make sure you follow the instructions to contact the hotel before you turn up! Theres a fabulous way of getting there by boat or else you have to do what we did (as we didnt read the very clearly worded instructions) and you have to trek down the hill!
- Olivier (10/5): - green hotel simple but nice view, nice service, gentle very kind, and they have their own boat to go snorkeling and organise what you want, access by boat the arrival is apart., like the colors of the sunset, the place to be, and don't forget the mosquitos, they are here! but hotel in the nature and tipicaly indonesian, built by french woman
- Michael (10/5): - A beautiful setting with a nice pool. If you are sensitive to road noise, you may have issues as it begins at 6am with scooters flying down the road right behind the bungalows. Great jungle view!!!
- jason (10/5): - Fabulous hotel This was our second stay. A litte out of town which makes it calm and quiet. In a natural setting with stylish rustic rooms that are very comfortable. The restaurant provides REALLY good local food at very affordable prices. The staff are really good at organising transport and excursions and they organised some great trips for us. The staff are low key but are really efficient and helpful. The hotel is within a short walk of the sun rise and sunset lookouts which are spectacular. Only consideration is that the hotel is built on the side of a steep hill so there are lots of steps. This gives great ocean views so view the hill as a challenge and some exercise.
- Andrew (10/5): - Super chilled, great value and the dinner was better than the luxury resort next door at a fraction of the price!!
- Rachel (10/5): - The property was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and nice. The food was delicious, as well.
- Ainhoa (10/5): - The property is right on the beach with an amazing view from the bungalows. The food is good and staff are helpful. We had a good time of swimming, snorkelling and take on the views. Guests should have good mobility to go up and down the stairs to/from the bungalows, but the views are worth it.
- Erik (2/5): Great view, bad hotel. - The view is honestly incredible, but everything Else was awful. Hidden charges, unhelpful staff.
- Keala (10/5): - Property staff and location was perfect. Right on the beach and the staff took care of any questions or problems immediately.
- Arcangel (8/5): Good staff & good restaurant for eat! - Great view of Eden bay!! 👍👍 and the staff will offer any help is need it, book a day trip with the them and it was very professional boat Crue! 👍
- David (8/5): - Staff were courteous and very helpful. Guest should be warned that most rooms need to be reached through many stairs - equivalent to 12-15 flights of stairs. In hot weather, that is very unpleasant. The road to town is even higher up - perhaps the equivalent of 30 flights of stairs. There is access via motorboat to an adjacent resort, from which taxis can be taken - but that is more expensive.
- sabrina (6/5): Isolated and no WiFi - The manager was kind and willing to help, but the hotel is really in an inconvenient location, far from the center which is a bit complicate to reach ( boat+ taxi or climb up to the road 10 m and then taxi / 150000 idr one way). The beach isn't nice, even if on this island are all like that, even the beach of the Ayana. They could keep it cleaner though. In the morning there is low tide so even to take a small boat you have to walk for a while in the muddy puddles left by the low tide. There are no amenities nearby such as alternative restaurants or travel agencies to organize tours, so you have to organize them with the hotel with no room for price negotiation. The restaurant isn't great. Food is average. The worst thing is that you only have Wi-Fi at the reception, not in the rooms, for only 3 hs a day from 6 to 9 pm.
The architecture of the huts and of the hotel is original and traditional, but the various huts are built up the hill, which means lots of steps to reach the top ones. Initially we were given the 2 top rooms (superior) which have no balcony or patio and the very top one has no proper see view, only from one angle. We booked 2 rooms with balcony, so we asked to change the rooms. They offered 2 connecting family rooms for a surcharge of 200000 idr per room per night ( these are considered deluxe rooms not superior). Despite we complained that we were supposed to get 2 rooms with balconies and see view, we took the family rooms as more suitable for our needs.
Vraiment !
- Matteo (10/5): Dreaming Komodo - The best place to live Komodo...
Excellent service, excellent Indonesian food... Awesome!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location, with a wonderful, panoramic view of the bay. Truly awesome. Great snorkeling straight off the beach. very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. The young man greeting people should be working at a large New York hotel making big money... he's just so good !! Had a small problem with the plumbing - fixed it in no time. Only one negative - if it was my hotel, I'd petition the local council to seal the road leading to the place by land. The property can be reached by boat - OK, but if you happen to be returning by night and it has been raining - it can be a big problem getting there especially as there is no lights along the road. Hey - the Indo elections are just around the corner !!
- Toru (10/5): - Loved this hotel and would recommend it. The staff were wonderful and the food was cheap and the menu had lots of choices. I read a lot of negative comments from other guests, but i can't fault my experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice staff, great view from the room and a snorkeling spot at the bottom of the hotel
- Katarzyna (4/5): Secluded and expensive place, the view- amazing - The hotel-provided access to the town is extremely expensive, for a two day hotel-town transportation provided by the hotel you could have an extra night there. To get to a road you either have to get a water taxi or to climb up lots of steps and a steep path - keep that in mind if you travel with children or have any kind of disability.
I would rather call it „bungalows for rent with a reception and restaurant downstairs” than a hotel. The property is maintained well.
The staff - extremely helpful. The view - amazing. If it wasn’t for the incredibly high price for the town and airport shuttle, i would probably give ot the highest note.
- Jocelyne (8/5): Spectucular view over the bay! - The amazing view! The cottage very confortable, the young employees so professional. Pascal and Ronald were very helpful and always in a good mood.
The only thing difficults : the access. Not for disabled at all. 100 hundreds steps to acceed our room! And far from the City Labuan Bajo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great GREAT stay - Great location and a treehouse-feel.
It was the best hotel in a pristine environment that Inhad so far. Stay in the delux rooms, not the superior....
- Beth (2/5): Overpriced and remote location - If you want to just stay at the hotel and not go on any day trips, then this is the hotel for you. However, would still NOT recommend this hotel. Most tour companies won't pick you up here and taxis won't take you as there is no paved road to get to the hotel...not sure if they're in the process of paving it or not, looked like that might be the case. I rented a motorbike/scooter and it was treacherous due to the rocky conditions of the dirt roads (see pictures). It is also a ten minute hike up to the dirt road from the hotel. Takes about 20-30 minutes from hotel on scooter. Hotel offers a "free shuttle boat" but only to drop you at the resort next door so you can take a 100,000 IDR taxi to the city and only until 17:00. Please note, hotel staff told me the taxi was 100,000 IDR however, I was charged by the hotel's driver, Alex, 150,000 IDR. For my return shuttle to the airport, I specifically requested, in writing, not to be taken by Alex, but they sent him to take me anyway. The guy has two cellphones that he is constantly answering and calling people, while driving. I did not feel safe, not to mention, he had overcharged me before. The hotel grounds are nice but. Not worth $64 USD/night AT ALL! Hotel staff are nice, however communication is limited and this causes misunderstandings. It was very difficult to deal with the manager as a result. I tried to communicate my misgivings and even sent emails instead, in hopes we could communicate in writing w/google translate
- Carl-Johan (10/5): Perfect Flores hotel - Cosy hotel with superfriendly staff. Beautiful surroundings.
- Megs (10/5): Outstanding!!! - We had such a wonderful experience here! The staff is amazing and go out of there way to help. I forgot my reading glasses and they brought them to me by boat to the next place we were staying! That is such amazing customer service! The food was great! It’s remote spot and great for snorkeling ! Take a boat to get there! It’s a hard spot to walk down from the road! I would totally stay there again
Men overvej grundigt, hvem hotellet bestilles igennem!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not such a good choice - Located far away from the city center and the only two ways of getting there is by taxi or boat which are expensive and not well organized. There is no paved road to get to the hotel. Since the hotel is located in a hill you have to climb up and down a lot to get to the restaurant and back to your room. Or the top of the hill area where there is the very rural road to take the taxi. No internet connection and the power comes and goes even for entire nights. The humidity and heat are unbearable.
- anki (10/5): Nice place to relax - We stayed at harmony bungalow which is, i think, the biggest room it has with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, and stunning view..
The room is very cozy and relaxing.. we got amazing sunset from our balcony..
The staff is also very friendly and helpful.. information was well delivered..
-Leckeres essen immer frisch zubereitet
Kontra:
- BabyG (8/5): Why did I move hotels? - OK. I got there. I saw the cats at dinner. I wanted to move so after 3 nights we moved. DUMB MOVE. This place has a vibe like no other. Once you get over the basic BS and the fact that all of Indonesia is expanding and building and so is this place, it turned out to be great. I wouldn't maybe eat too many meals here considering what's available in town, but for general chill out and for swimming right out in front, this is great. Each room is different, room 5 seemed the best to me. We had 3 total rooms. Let the staff organize a snorkeling trip for you- it will be a fraction of the cost of what it costs in those silly tours in town and you will go to pristine spots. They even make a take-away lunch for you.
I loved this place. The sunsets are so peaceful. It's just not for the Ritz Carlton crowd. It's for a seasoned traveler who gets it.
The one challenge is that there is NO WIFI. They just don't have any. We had to sneak around the beach to PLATARAN or whoever it's called to get Wifi. So if you don't have an Indonesian data card with you you may feel trapped because it's hard to make plans without a connection. Keep that in mind.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Our stay at the hotel was okay... Amazing views and nice food. We booked a Deluxe double Room but I'm not sure we were given a deluxe double room. The staff were friendly but had limited English. Some of the staff were too friendly.. taking photos of my friend and I (without our consent) when we were on the boat to Labuan Bajo, making us feel very uncomfortable... It was a nice place but not worth the money we paid.
- Arnd (10/5): - Hübsches Hotel, nur mit Boot erreichbar. Echtes Urlaubserlebnis.
- claudio (8/5): - Very pleasant stay (6 days) in a very quiet and relaxing environment. good opportunities to do excursions directly from the hotel to Komodo and Rinca, as well as to other surrounding enchanting islands. We enjoyed the local cusine and the warmness of the staff
- Eric (8/5): - Prachtig view!!
Romantisch. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding klopt niet. En je zit geïsoleerd van alles.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic and remote location - This is a very basic property in a remote location. My boyfriend had mild food poisoning from the breakfast, the rooms are VERY basic (although with AC) and not the cleanest. We were asked to leave the room key when we went out for the evening so they could fix our toilet that wasn't flushing, upon our return a pair of RayBan sunglasses had vanished! None of the hotel staff said they had seen them.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Trip to labuan bajo - Excellent place.
Restaurant staff were a bit lost sometime.
- Maria (10/5): Super!!
- asl (8/5): Beautiful location . Bathroom window needs a cover - Pros
- beautiful location ( yes there are many stairs)
- tree house type rooms
- nice grounds
- good common area / resturant
- helpful staff
Cons
- no covering on bathroom window . If you forget to cover it , as happened to my travel partner someone will stand outside your window and watch you shower / get ready . Violating and creepy .
- ask multiple staff members for the prices of things ( not listed ) as they change depending whom you as
- we did not pay for a boat transfer at anytime . They tried but we pointed out others did not pay. They do try to consolidate boat trip
Notes
- we book tour in lauban bajo through Flores adventure they were good & price reasonable . Go to town & walk from shop to shop
- the ferry drops you by the night / fish market so 20 min walk or 20k taxi ride to center
- the food is ok , the vegetable patties are actually really good
- the snorkel gear leaks - badly
- this place is on a cliff side there are many stairs , no accessibility measures . So beware when booking . I quite like that kind of setting so not an issue .
- email them before you arrive , organizing arrival was very easy
- we got water everyday & brought our own
- only one electricity plug in a room
- ego lodge so try to conserve
- no hot water ( which is to be expected in Flores )
- mark (10/5): Best place to stay in Labuan Bajo! - Wonderful place to stay in Labuan Bajo! Great staff, a boat that will take you to town whenever you need it. Food was very delicious with an exceptional breakfast. Super cute cabins with an incredible beach. Thank you for such a wonderful stay in Labuan Bajo!
- Darren (2/5): Do not stay here - The place is terrible! If you have kids or are over middle-aged, this place is completely inappropriate. Even for back-packers on a budget, try anywhere else!! The location, facilities, room quality and service were all poor. To enjoy yourself - look elsewhere!!
