- Marcy Ambler (8/5): Overall a great experience in a very unique hotel. - The room was very unique - with a huge shower which felt somewhat medieval with a metal mesh curtain. The room was nicely furnished and decorated - as well as the lobby and front desk area. We loved the brick walls and historic feel! There were a few small rocks inside the shower area which made me question housekeeping as a whole, but really everything else was in order. The afternoon / evening front desk staff wasn't super friendly. She seemed to be more interested in her phone than helping (the daytime gentleman was very friendly).

- chris (9/5): Truly wonderful experience, though would probably choose a more conventional bathroom next time. - The 1857 hotel comprises a main building and a nearby annexe. The rooms in the main building are all slightly different; ours had a vast open plan bath and shower area. The walls are unfinished brick and the 10ft ceilings have exposed beams which add rustic charm. The amenities were good and the bed, a true king size, was very comfortable. The window lacked a true blackout curtain so the room was never fully dark. While the open.plan bath and shower looked impressive, with a waterfall showerhead in a high ceiling it was a little disappointing in effect, generating a lot of air movement so it never felt really hot enough. I expect it is awesome in summer on a hot day.

- Guido (8/5): Bei Gelegenheit würden wir wieder kommen - Die Lage und der Stil des Hotels sind sehr gut. Es scheint jedes Zimmer unterschiedlich zu sein. Unser Zimmer war sehr grosszügig. Eine gründlich Reinigung auch unter und hinter den Betten wäre, jedenfalls in unserem Zimmer, dringendst notwendig. Diese Bereiche sahen schon länger keine Pflege mehr. Bei der Dusche läuft nicht alles Wasser ab.

- Jill (10/5): Charming Boutique Hotel - Charming hotel -- exceptionally clean (our room smelled like fresh soap), stylishly furnished, comfortable bed, blackout shade on window. Casual, but stylish, atmosphere and friendly employees. Quick check in/out, ample free parking, multiple good restaurants, shops and bars within a short walk. Our only negatives were that their internet isn't the strongest, and there was no door or curtain on the shower area (no tub in our room).

Small, great location being located downtown and within walking distance to the riverfront, multiple great restaurants and a historical museum. Free parking, Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, comfortable and unique. Pricier than we usually pay on road trips, but the 1857 was totally worth it. Recommend! It was all good.

Overall, the room is the most important element of our nights away from home. To rest well is our goal, always and we did that in this hotel. the room was clean and spacious. The decor was modern and you could tell that much thought had been given to the layout and furnishings. Our room was actually across the street from the hotel but just a short walk. the check in process was a bit clunky but again, our rest is most important and I would recommend this place for a comfortable night away from home. I wish they had a restaurant on site. The coffee provided was mediocre, at best. I’m not really a “coffee snob” but it would have been nice to have a nice cup of coffee before starting our day. A restaurant would be even better. :). We took a walk around the downtown area and felt very safe. We were close to the river and so walked along it for a while. Parking is the biggest downside to this hotel and probably the only reason I did not rate the experience as a 5. We had to search for a spot on the street. While we did find a spot, it would be so nice to have a parking lot.

- Judith (10/5): The 1857 - Collin called to confirm the day before my arrival and on arrival he was very welcoming and went out of his way to point out walking directions to downtown and the waterfront and said if I needed anything he would be there to help. This old building was in beautiful condition with local artists work showcased each month. The room was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed. The town is original with restaurants, shops, and a great place to walk around right outside the front door. I would definitely stay again,

We stayed in room 104 and it did have a musty smell when entering the room, don’t know if it’s because of the age of the building but it was noticeable. Would stay there again if ever in the Paducah area.

Lots of restaurant options, coffee shop and a great bakery within a couple of hundred feet of the hotel. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, if a bit quirky. The bath/shower area is 1/3 of the room, and this is the first time I have seen a chain mail shower curtain… Great place for solo or a couple, or even a couple with a dog. Maybe not so much for parents with 3 kids in tow. We loved it here.

We were so pleased we did. We stayed in one of the off-site condos. Lots of room, beautifully restored and decorated. In the middle of town so close to restaurants and walk to the riverfront. As a couple who travels frequently this was exceptional for the price. We would definitely stay again.

We were looking for a room with a tub and they upgraded us. Incredible, especially for the price. Super quiet and a perfect location. We walked everywhere. - cdctosan (8/5): Lovely historic venue - Overall, a great place to stay. We were in condo #400, around the corner from the hotel because we wanted a little more room. And did we get it. This is a two story condo with a big living room and kitchen then two large bedrooms on the top floor. You need to be able to climb stairs to stay here. Ben at the front desk was very helpful and carried our bags to the second floor. The apartment was very clean, but a little hit or miss on the equipment side in the kitchen. Closet doors not quite on the tracks, some odd decorating choices - a four sided glass shower installed kind of in the middle of the master bedroom. Original hard wood floors, very vintage - in spots you could see through to the lower floor. So as a hotel accommodation it left a few minor things to be desired but as far as atmosphere and location, it couldn't' be beat. You are right in the heart of historic Paducah. It's on a lovely small quiet side street with brick street and sidewalk paving, very charming with little umbrella tables for the small restaurants nearby. Five minute walk to the quilt museum, the Tennessee River, the theaters, the local history museum, and Top Chef Sarah Bradley's Freight House Restaurant. All in all, a great stay and we would go back.
- Burrman3 (10/5): Seventh heaven at 1857 - An amazing hotel in Paducah. Beautiful intimate brick gem. We spent two wonderful nights here. There is plenty of parking and entrances in the front and rear of the hotel. The rear entrance will take through a bar which has plenty of seating and space to relax. The people who man the front desk and friendly and knowledgeable. While the rooms aren't super large, at least ours wasn't, king size bed, small sitting area and bath. However the walking in tunnel shower with body spray and rain head was awesome. The hotel is located steps away from an entertainment and restaurant district with something for everyone. We were close to the river walk (Ohio River) and greenway walking trail. I will say this, If you are planning on taking a walk (summer) make sure you take plenty of water, the humidity is brutal. I highly recommend the 1857 and promise your decision will be rewarded.

For an overnight stay, it’s worth the trip off the interstate. - Several eateries (Gold Rush Cafe is a can’t miss) and taverns within blocks and the flood wall (local landmark) is an easy walking distance. Located in “Lower Town” Accommodations are on-par with regular hotel fare (e.g. in-room coffee, fridge, etc). Large, open shower with rain head was a nice addition. High ceilings (first floor) make for an open feel to a cozy-sized room. Decor is period-themed (see pics) and a welcome change from typical hotel chains.

- Sandra (10/5): One of my favorite hotels! - This was my second stay here, and this is one of my favorite hotels! I love the exposed brick walls, high beamed ceilings, tall windows that overlook the brick courtyard, upscale, elegant furnishings and decor, and how they've integrated the original features of the building into a hotel offering modern amenities (like those huge showers!). The hotel is right in the middle of the downtown/riverfront area of Paducah, with lots of shops, restaurants, and interesting things to do within easy walking distance. There's plenty of parking around back. A little cumbersome getting luggage to the upstairs rooms, but so worth the effort!

Was told the bar would be open until 10pm. Attempted to go to the bar at 8:30pm, and was told it was closed due to low turnout. With inconsistent hours, I'm sure the turnout is low. Lost my $75-$100 I would have spent.

- Karin (10/5): - The location of the 1857 was great and an easy walk to many restaurants, shops and the river. Our room was on the first floor and had plenty of room with high ceilings and a comfy bed. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
- Bruce (10/5): - This is a very well done repurposing of a cool space. It's very convenient for exploring the riverside area of downtown Paducah.
- Katy (8/5): Clean but noisy. - Cute hotel. Clean. The one big downside was that the hotel often hosts events in their bar area, which you can see pictures of on the website, and this meant two things: 1.) you are not able to use the bar as a guest during the events which last most of the night 6pm-midnight; and 2.) the hotel is very small and you can hear the very loud event all night long. My family went to bed around 8:30 but the party on the night we stayed went until very late in the night and kept us all awake. If you are traveling as a family, you may want to make sure you are not staying on an event night.

- Clint (7/5): We were looking for a nicer, non-cookie cutter stay, and the 1857 definitely gave us that. - Location was great and the renovated building and rooms were charming. No direct access to parking lot when events space in use. Open rain and handheld shower area was interesting but water definitely wasn’t contained there—sprayed all the way out to tiles in sink area and even carpet. The lack of a secure wifi network is pretty baffling in 2025. The evening front desk person wasn’t the best representative of the hotel: disinterested, not very friendly or helpful. The lady staffing the front desk in the AM was FABULOUS—she gave a wonderful end to our stay.
