Guest Reviews
- GERALDINE (10/5): - We loved our stay at Crystal Brook…it is like The Land That Time Forgot! If you’re looking for comfort, delicious food and friendly owners and staff, you’ll love it!
- Lois (8/5): - The property was charming but the rooms could use some work. TV was very fuzzy, shower head shot water everywhere, and the tub in the shower was very slow to drain. The breakfast which was included was cooked to order and very nice.
- cam (10/5): - Beautiful property overseen by a lovely person, Wendy was hospitable in every sense of the word; would absolutely love to come back to this amazing retreat in the woods. Also worth mentioning is the amazing waterfall within walking distance of the property.
- Maureen (10/5): - Wendy at the front desk was extremely personable and helpful. There is a path through the woods across the street that leads to a waterfall. Loved it. The food and entertainment at the Mountain Brauhaus Restaurant was excellent. Breakfast is made to order and delicious. Thank you.
- Tom (10/5): A little taste of Germany! - This was a very beautiful property with a waterfall on the property and more waterfalls nearby. The room was really clean, with new carpet and wallpaper. Has a German theme, which is kind of cool. The German food at the Brauhaus Was good. The entertainment was fun and the owner Wendy was very hospitable. We are definitely going back next year to see the colorful leaves again. My wife loved it!
- kathleen (10/5): - Everything was spectacular. Breakfast was delicious in the beautifully decorated dining room. Wonderful, warm home feeling in the resort. Wendy and her husband Eddie were extremely welcoming and friendly. Meals at the Moutain Brau House were fabulous… authentic German food. Staff were friendly and extremely accommodating there too. Such a wonderful weekend there.
- Tell (10/5): - Everything was awesome. The entertainment at the German Restaurant was great.
- Andrew (8/5): - Good attention
- Jorge (10/5): - It was amazing, friendly environment and the staff make you feel like family. Quiet and peaceful place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very hospitable. Wish there was at least a refrigerator and coffee pot in the room. WiFi schetchy. Other than that Happy with the accomodations.
- Teresa (8/5): - Wonderful mountain stay and amazing German food! Everyone was so friendly and the home made breakfast was a true delight!
- Li (10/5): - Family owned and operated for decades. Family friendly. A quaint resort. Pool was a good size. Small playground for kids, basketball and tennis court, horse shoe, volley ball net, hot tub. Plenty of tables and chairs, bench swings, “bar” area has puzzles and board games.
Breakfast was delicious. Separate restaurant on site with reasonable prices and fantastic food.
The room was clean and comfortable. There are 2 waterfalls that you can walk to, one on the property and another down the street.
Highly recommend calling the hotel directly before booking especially if you need a ground floor room, no elevators available.
Will stay again!!
- beverly (10/5): - We arrived at Crystal Brook Mountain resort after having stayed at a 5 star resort in Cape Cod. I can honestly say the staff at the 5 star resort could learn a thing or two from the staff at Crystal Brook.
Wendy was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The staff at the restaurant and in the dining area were friendly and accommodating. Loved the selection for breakfast and being able to have what we wanted. Very few resorts still offer this option. Worked well with 4 kids.
This was our first time visiting the resort and yet it felt like we had been coming for years by the way we were treated.
It's location to hiking and Kaaterskill Falls is fantastic. Also just a short 15-20 min drive to the town of Catskill. Highly recommend Crystal Brook. Thanks again Wendy!
- Matthew (10/5): - We loved staying at Crystal Brook. Wendy was so pleasant and the property was charming and exactly what we were looking for. No complaints. We were able to check in late and felt right at home.
- Michael (10/5): - A nice, quiet place in the mountains with a touch of the German Alps.
- Laurie (10/5): - Staff were great. Owners are awesome they definitely make you feel welcomed. Great place for families to stay. Definitely going back again.
- Michael (10/5): - Remote, to say the very least! The local charm is remote, trail rich in day hikes or bikes.
- Norb (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We spent a long weekend, looking at the leaves in the Catskills. Our stay at the Crystal Brook Resort & Mountain Brauhaus was wonderful. While the accomodations were retro, it was a clean and comfortable room. The staff, family actually, were amazing, friendly and cheerful. The meals, breakfasts and dinner were hardy, and delicious. (The leaves were also right at peak, so that is a plus.)
- KAREN (10/5): - A very friendly and relaxed place. Food was great as well as the music! Owners were very helpful with things to do in the area. Had a great time! Will return!
- Gregory (10/5): - Great place to stay for a nice relaxing weekend in the mountains. Short distance from many attractions. Mountain Brauhaus right down the road for German food, drinks and live entertainment. Friendly staff that make you feel like you’re at home. Fun filled weekend.
- Steven (10/5): - The staff were friendly and provided excellent service during my stay.
- Scott (10/5): - Room was a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Would have been nicer if there was a microwave and a fridge. Included sit-down breakfast was awesome! Dinner at Brauhaus was good too! Wendy (proprietor) was very nice and accommodating. We definitely enjoyed our stay there.
- DIEGO (10/5): - I stayed there for two nights and I really enjoyed that place. Definitely recommend this family resort
- Tara (10/5): - Wendy and Ed were professional, sweet and accommodating.
My family and I felt transported to a time before the internet, social media and other modern technology interrupted family gatherings.
The trees and the wildflowers on/surrounding the property were the perfect antidote to the overdeveloped, congested Northern New Jersey town we live in.
Ed's coffee cake and breakfasts were delicious. I can only dream of making the paper thin pastry dough in his coffee cake.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - This is a homey place. I felt like I had traveled back in time. My room was simple and clean, with a door out onto the wrap-around terrace. Breakfast daily, and the Brauhaus across the way has wonderful food and friendly service. My only glitch was there was no one at the desk when I arrived. Luckily a staff member came by and have me my room key.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Wendy was incredibly helpful and the resort was great for our stay in the Catskills.
- Tiffany (10/5): - The staff was very attentive and helpful, and property very clean!
- Verified traveler (6/5): musty for the price - this is an older resort in a beautiful place. the people who work there are friendly and the pool is nice. the rooms smelled musty and the mattresses felt old.
- Ted (10/5): - Lovely setting with nostalgic charm. Waterfall was gorgeous. Staff was very friendly and the entertainment in the beer garden was lively .
- Ashly (10/5): - My stay was very nice, the staff just delightful. We will be back
- Norah (10/5): - Very family friendly and wonderful staff!
- David (8/5): - Nice place , could use a larger shower
- Michael (10/5): - Nice place.
- Kathleen (4/5): - The property for price for a room is extremely high for a room built in the fifties. The charged extra for people in our room and complained we should not of gone through Expedia it would be cheaper if we called the hotel. She quoted a couple ahead of me $30 per person and charge me $40 per person
- Paula (8/5): - It was quaint and charming.
- john (10/5): - It was very cozy . The owners were friendly and accommodating.
- Prabhakar (10/5): - Beautiful setup in scenic mountain area with excellent full service breakfast, awesome rooms and service with smile. I and my family had a great time.
- Agata (8/5): - Location was beautiful! Mountain stream with waterfalls and mountains and open spaces were exactly what we were looking for. The rooms were dated (think wall paneling and old brown AC) but definitely very clean. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot. The place could use some updating and some better linens etc but again, everything was clean and well maintained. We were traveling with a toddler and wished they had a top lock or a slide bolt but if we didn’t have a toddler we would have felt safe without it. We weren’t there for luxury but for relaxation. The restaurant/ breakfast that was included in our room rate was plentiful and freshly made. They had a beautiful, large, outdoor pool and a couple of playgrounds for kids. Lots of flowers, fire pit, charming decor were a plus.Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely lots of return guests and I can understand why.
- HAROLD (8/5): - Very nice location, and Wendy who runs the resort does an excellent job of keeping the place clean and staffed with local people who do a great job. Room was OK food was very good. Some very good walking trails and waterfalls to see.
- james (10/5): - clean, great owners
- Santiago Orjuela (10/5): - Wendy was the most amazing host you can have. She was friendly, attentive, and very kind. I would say I would come back to Crystal Brook for sure. The house was absolutely adorable and cozy. Very close to beautiful waterfalls and hiking sites. A life-changing experience, one of the best places in Upstate NY.
- Thomas (10/5): - I had a very nice stay at this location.
- Justin (10/5): - Charming spot with a lot of heart. Staff is super friendly.
- Robert (8/5): - Full service breakfast was great.
Friendly staff and the Brauhouse across the road owned by this property. Also a nice pool and it is in a beautiful location
- Johannes (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay. The resort grounds are beautiful, the building has great character, and is a unique time-capsule. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had a blast getting to know them and sharing stories. The breakfast they provide is delicious! The resort's facilities are excellent and ideal for both families and individual travelers. I wish I booked more than one evening - I would have loved to explore the wonderful hiking trails and scenic spots more. It has been a long time since I had such a pleasant stay! I can wholeheartedly recommend Crystal Brook and will happily stay there again when I go in that direction.
- Michael (10/5): Great stay! - The stay was amazing, Brauhaus had great food and drink, room was very clean and staff was very friendly. Lots of fun things to do around here such as pool, jacuzzi, hiking, ping pong, and much more!
- Bogdan (10/5): - Nice place to stay. The room was very clean but dated. The pool and hot tub were clean and the food at the restaurant across the street was excellent. I highly recommend this place.
- Lei (8/5): - Located in a bucolic area with strong German heritage. Nice ground spreading to both sides of the road with a big pool. Nearby there is hiking trail to the waterfall. Staff very friendly and helpful. Sporadic wifi service, in my room it flows in and out. But when you are deep in the woods in the Catskills this is really not a must.
- Mark (8/5): - Traditional Catskill property with a wonderful hostess and staff who really wanted to ensure that you have a great stay. They serve a really nice cooked breakfast. The property is dated and our bathroom was very small.
- Natalie (10/5): - Convenient location, very clean and quiet.
- Mikhail (10/5): Absolutely charming and wonderful place - Quiet. Charming. Absolutely awesome place to hide from city noise. Exceptional breakfast. German restaurant which is next door has excellent choice of beer and food is so delicious. Don’t forget to get a swimsuit ;) After staying two nights went and book another weekend. Staff is so friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great getaway in the Catskills - My wife, young son, and I had a great time at the Crystal Brook in late October. We came up on a quick trip to enjoy the fall foliage in the Catskills. We arrived on a Friday evening and wanted to get a late dinner at the Brauhaus. We were concerned about our mid-evening arrival and called to make sure the kitchen would still be open. Wendy directed us to go straight to the restaurant, where she met us with the room key. Great service. We had a great German meal, with Octoberfest beer to top it off.
The breakfast the next morning at the hotel was just as tasty, and again we received great, friendly service. After we checked out, we took a short hike on the property along the brook to the falls--a beautiful way to start our day in the Catskills.
If you're looking for individualized service from the owner-operator, the Crystal Brook will suit you well.
- Colleen (8/5): rad time-capsule - Your stay comes with breakfast. Clean accommodations, yes somewhat dated, but that is the charm of it all. Super close to hikes and falls and just good vibes all around. Brau-haus is a blast. Glenn Falls house down the way is doing cool stuff too most weekends too. Service is really great, everyone is welcoming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice retreat from the city
