Guest Reviews
- Tony (8/5): Nice room for the price. Friendly Staff - When we were arrived, we were greeted by the owner who was cleaning our parking spot of the snow. Super friendly and wonderful check-in. The room was very quaint and clean (other than a bone under the bed). All was wonderful, other than there were very minimal receptacles, but we travel with enough cords to deal with our CPAP and Laptop. The Wi-Fi for the laptop kept dropping out, but other than that, we will most certainly stay again.
- Gary (4/5): - small outdated rooms which were quite musky smelling.Right on highway very noisy.
- Sandra (8/5): - Friendly staff, rooms were clean and homey. Love the plank floors. Close to town.
- Lucy (8/5): - Manager greet us upon arrival.
Check in was smooth, room was clean. The highway traffic did not bother us. Check out was faster.
Yes, I would stay there again.
- Erik (10/5): - Thomas was excellent we will definitely go back thanks
- Terri (8/5): - Clean room, comfortable bed, great price. Great to lay your head down for a night or two.
- Eric (8/5): - Room was clean and the hwy wasn’t an issue
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We arrived later than anticipated but they were more than accommodating! The room was clean and the location was great. Would recommend if staying in the area!
- Souvik (4/5): Not recommended - The room was not that clean specially the bath and with shower not working. I had booked room with 2 double beds but still they charged me extra for my 6 year old kid. The location is not suitable and way over priced for a motel. May be good for people who may have paid $50-$60 but certainly not for me paying over $110 that too with advance booking.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - did not like the location hard to get to dangerous location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - easy to check inn...place was very clean and nice. had a nice stay..will def stay next year for sure...highly recommended..
- Peter (6/5): - The property is just beside the highway and not easily accessible. Need to make a 8KM loop to come out and get in.
- Ina (8/5): - I felt so comfortable. It is such a clean place and so close to all of Muskoka
- Rita (6/5): Last minute stay - Last minute stay. Room was comfortable, good location off highway. Overpriced for a motel but good experience overall.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Owner was very nice and accommodating, even at 1am when we had to phone him as there were some other visitors drinking and throwing a football around in the parking lot very close to the cars! Our room was exceptionally clean which we were pleased with (hand soap, shampoo and conditioner provided as well). My only problem was that I couldn't sleep well due to the mattress being a bit too hard for me. Otherwise, for the short time we were at the motel we were satisfied as it served our needs for a quick stay before hitting the road again.
- anonymous (6/5): - 11pm and we got a noise complaint for talking, the room smelt like actual sewage, bathroom walls were disgusting (drips and splatters all over the walls) and i got charged an extra al most 40$ for two dogs
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owners seems nice and the room was quite clean. There are several rooms facing the highway which can be distracting at times. If possible, ask for a room at the side or back of the hotel. There is a nice grassy field at the back of the property. The amenities are pretty bare-bones - no ice machine, no coffee machine in the room, no breakfast. Internet is spotty. Due to the location, it is not walkeable and a car is required. The price is decent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is clean, everything is working , the staff is good too and a reasonable price.
- Katie (8/5): Nice place - Room was clean and good size, the bed could have been a bit more comfortable but I like a soft bed. There was noise from the highway but the air conditioner drowned it out so it wasn't that bad. Staff was able to accommodate special requests which was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was a little worn, but very clean And in good working order.
- Brian (6/5): - They need accessable outlets for charging cell phones. Towel hooks in the bathrooms. And a rubber mat in the shower. We weren't given a password for the wifi. Overall the room was clean and a comfortable bed and pillows. Great price for the time of year.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was extremely noisy due to being on the highway also one of our neighbours were outside smoking and talking loudly until 3am.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The beds were uncomfortable and creaky, lots of highway noise,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service and the room was clean and very organized
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Our "non-smoking" room smelled like cigarette smoke but otherwise the room was clean and all the necessities were there. Not really kid-friendly but not bad for inexpensive 1 night lodging.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm welcome upon our late arrival. Friendly and efficient service. Very neat and clean room.
- Katherine (8/5): A little get away ..... - The staff was very friendly and the rooms clean. We were sad to see upon our arrival that the restaurant was no longer open. We did day trips in the area which was not far from the motel. Was quite aside from busy Hwy 11.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Proximity to our two events!! , availability last minute and price Very reasonable for gravenhurst.
Was just for a sleep....and had a very good night’s sleep .. comfy beds and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay very friendly people very helpful very clean and beautiful Motel we had a Golden Retriever and he was very accommodated only wish we could have stayed longer the room was so welcoming and beautiful Thankyou so much for making our stay a very memorable one I would definately reccommend friends and we will be back!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was a very bad cigarette smell and washroom was not so clean.
- Kara (10/5): Nice place - The proprietor of the gold pine is a very pleasant guy and made our stay a good one.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean, had decent furniture, and the beds were comfortable. Not many amenities, as it’s more of a motel style inn, however the two rooms my family had, served their purpose well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed here to attend a concert at The Kee to Bala. The staff st the front desk was very friendly, it had wifi, air conditioning and was clean. A coffee maker would be a welcome addition!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They wouldn’t honour our Expedia rate and charged us way more thAn what we reserved it for. This was horrible
- Verified traveler (2/5): - A dog barked all night long and road traffic noise is loud. Beds were not comfortable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is for sale. The attached restaurant is closed. The room was clean. Air conditioner worked fine. No amenities.... For the price it was still good value.
- Holger (8/5): Convenient and Clean - I only took a point off because certain amenities such as hair dryer and tissues were missing and the attached restaurant was permanently closed. The very friendly, amiable and accommodating owner explained that this was due to the inability to find staff even though he was offering competitive wages. The restaurant has been sold and maybe new owners can make a go of it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Received prompt and polite service.
Improved cleaning and a few flowers in the flower pots outside would make this property more appealing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Loved how easy it was to reach Gravenhurst, and the manager was very nice. However it was very noisy due to proximity to Highway 11, and wish the bathrooms had hooks to hang clothes to keep them off the floor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean, spacious and about 3min drive from Gravenhurst
- Stanley (8/5): - I had not been at an inn before so the experience was great
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Restaurant was closed & no notifications regarding the closing of it prior to arrival. Would of stayed in Gravenhurst at a hotel. Had to go there for food . No coffee bar in room either. Had to also drive into Gravenhurst for that & meals!! Air conditioner was very filthy in the filter. Removed it myself & cleaned it out!! Will not stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly check in ,room good ,over all good stay for a motel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Revised - Manager confronted me after I posted a review. I am posting after checkout. VERY NOISY! Highway traffic is very loud and room has no sound isolation. You can literally see light around the door. It's situated right beside the highway. I initially posted at 9:20PM that I was surprised there was no alarm clock, USB charging ports, available power near beds, and no coffee maker. Manager knocked on my door 9:30PM and confronted me about my review. He brought a coffee maker with him.
I was very uncomfortable with the confrontation while I was dressed for bed.
CAUTION - Don't post a review while you are at the motel unless you are ok to be confronted about it.
- P (10/5): - Great price and great clean place. Location is great but a bit annoying to get to.
- BillB (8/5): - Quick drive to Gravenhurst and it’s beautiful town
- Matt (2/5): STRONG OUDOR - A smoker had lived in the room and it stank of cigarette smoke.
Owners placed a 'plug in' wall fragrance into the room and another fragrance (very strong) under the TV to try and hide the stink but, it only made it worse. We were getting headaches.
We complained, but he said too bad.
The fragrances were so strong, I ejected them from the room.
We left the door open, but it wasn't enough.
Terrible ventilation. Terrible smell.
Noisy owner calling out for her cat 'Molly' at around 3am.
Molly.... Molly.... Where's that cat?
Blar Blar Blar Blar.. loud talking... Molly..... Molly....
MOLLY!!!! She shouts!
Paper thin walls.
Do not stay here!!
Not worth the price we paid.
Not worth a tenth of that.
Not worth a sleepless night.
One more thing -All our clothes stank and we have to launder the lot.
- Bmer (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Was small and cozy and bed was comfy. A little noisy off the hwy but not so bad once inside the room. I would definitely stay again.
- Kathy (4/5): - Host was friendly. Room was clean. BUT - beds were hard, no microwave, no clock or radio, no coffee maker. Big space between the main door and the door frame. Windows don't open. Too noisy because of traffic.
This room should have been much cheaper. It had nothing to offer.
- Kenneth (6/5): - It is on a divided hwy. We were going south and it was on the west side. Had to go to the next exit and come back. Then do the same in the morning. It would help to let people know ahead of time. It was close to hwy and noisy all night.
- Jamie (8/5): - Late night arrival for a brief over night stay. Everything we needed and the restaurant was great in the morning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean basic motel with a very good restaurant on site. No coffee maker or microwave. Located right on (very busy) Highway 11. No one seems to staff the motel welcome desk so when you arrive you have to make a long distance phone call to let the proprietor know that you're there to check in.
- Julie (10/5): Convenient, clean and friendly - Good clean room, great location. Overall great for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Reasonable price. Close to Gravenhurst. Basically you are getting value for the price
- Sandra (6/5): - There was no phone no on the info from Expedia. We could not find the place. A very helpful waitress kindly looked the phone no. up for us. The ownet gave us the right directions and we found it with no trouble after he gave us a landmark to look for.
- Maria (8/5): - The rooms were very clean and the owner was accommodating. Only thing was the a/c in my room wasn’t giving cold air. But overall, we are happy. We occupied 6 rooms between my friends. We will definitely come back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - On very busy Highway 10 which is divided so motel is not easily accessed unless you're northbound. No one working front desk, have to have phone to call them in to check in; luckily they live near and is a short wait for them to come. Basic, clean rooms with fridges. Quite a few seasonal/long term 'tenants' due to it's cheaper price and location. Pet friendly!!
The restaurant is not open on Tuesdays; only had breakfast which was good and the staff there were extremely friendly!!
- Sean (2/5): - Flat screen tv = tiny
Internet - could not stream netflix. Could not hook up
Tv - lowest package avaialable.
Terrible value
Restaurant not open when we hot there due to "no one wants to work"
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Quite noisy as it is right by the highway. Not the cleanest but certainly not the worst I've been in.
- Frank (8/5): - Very friendly & accomodating as we were booking a room for our son to stay
- Frank (8/5): - Very accomodating & friendly as we were trying to get a room last minute for our son to stay. They worked with us to get him into a room, & safe after having left another hotel where both he & his belongings were unsafe
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was very clean. Check in was fast. Would recommend a clock and additional outlets for cells and other electronic devises though. Good value for the price.
- Maninderjit (8/5): - I had nice experience in this motel. Only things i didn’t like is the air conditioning because it is far from bed area and there was no microwave. Luckily, weather was good on that day and i didn’t feel that much need of air conditioning
- Renata (10/5): - Late check in was no problem, despite late hour. Pet friendly, very clean room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a very nice stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was clean. They didn't come in and clean the room after our first dsy. I was told at check out when i asked if it was normal they said I needed to call them to tell thrm i wanted the room made up.
- J (10/5): - One of the best motels we have stayed at. Our room was very clean. For the very first time, the small fridge in our room actually kept food cold and worked amazingly well. The owner was friendly and efficient in checking us in and had everything ready for us. He even turned on the AC to make sure we would walk into a comfortablely cool room in a hot summer day! Really appreciated the thought. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and everything was newly renovated. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area!
- joel (8/5): - Very adequate comfortable small room. Fine amenities as advertised. No problems and quite quiet though on the highway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was perfect for a one night stay, but a bit odd that you had to call to check in!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - to noise 0n hyw food was good no ice no kleenex didnt clean room there for two days
- Sue (10/5): - A very nice budget motel. Newly renovated, very clean. good sized rooms. Just off highway. no coffee maker, but we have a nice sized bar fridge. Nice little restaurant.
- shakti (8/5): nice place - It was a good stay. place was nice and clean. this was my second stay at the motel.
- DrP (10/5): - Excellent everything except price
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room nice people and got some rest
- Roger. (4/5): - Not as advertised.
