Guest Reviews
- Gill (10/5): Quirky comfortable room, very friendly and helpful staff. - Room decor - staff v friendly Too many stairs
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - We always stay here each year for a particular event in town so the fact we keep going back tells you a lot! The staff, breakfast, rooms are all marvellous.
- Jonathan (1/5): Terrible - High price no air conditioning shocking
- Renata (6/5): pleasant stay in a good location. - Location is very good and the staff were very helpful. I hadn't noted that continental breakfast was what I had booked (through booking.com). The room was nice but it was very small for things like my case/clothes etc. Also the shower wasn't easy to work (with the 2 shower heads). As I was in a double room single occupancy, it is always expensive for me.
- Julie (10/5): - Beautiful rooms, very clean, helpful staff when I had questions, good breakfast, easy check in/out
- Andrei-Vlad (7/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Easy access to town, free parking, lively breakfast… fab staff too! - Lovely decor, clean and plush bedding, pillows a little soft but that’s irrelevant if you like a nice soft pillow! Water provided and fresh milk, magazines, Tiffin, coffee machine & lovely toiletries. Nothing… it was all lovely!
- andrew phillip (9/5): -
- Rebecca (7/5): Nice hotel, great part of town. - Great location and good breakfast. We had a cold shower!
- Helen (9/5): Beautiful hotel - Loved the decor in the room and all the accessories to make it look so chic. Great customer service and delicious continental breakfast. There was a humming from the air conditioning unit even when switched off.
- Heather (8/5): - Great location and very good value for money Nothing
- Helena (10/5): -
- Graham (7/5): - The sink in the bathroom was too small to make it easy to have a shave.
- Isabella (8/5): -
- Paul (5/5): I feel this is an expencive premier inn, self check in, small rooms, clean and tidy, tap head came off in my hand, ideal - Very convenient for the town Very little parking, 40-50 rooms and about 12 spaces, no restaurant for the evening meal, this was my main reason for booking no bar.
- christopher (1/5): Very Poor - The bed was very comfortable but the room was very dirty, covered in thick dust everywhere. Obviously had not been properly cleaned for along time. The wall mounted air conditioning unit was full of thick fluff blowing into the room. Disgraceful and very disappointing for a hotel at this price. standard of cleanliness
- Tracey (8/5): Great location - The location of the property is great walking distance to shops bars and restaurants . The bed was very comfortable and a great shower in bathroom , also iron and ironing board which is also handy and a proper powerful hairdryer
- Josephine (7/5): Overall good - excellent start to the day with breakfast in attractive dining area .. Helpful staff. - Good breakfast - Continental plus -more than adequate Room a bit small for the price - vey little cupboard space for clothes .

- Michael (8/5): Enjoyable one night stay, but would need a larger room for an extended stay. - The rooms were well -equipped, but small with no drawer space. Breakfast was excellent with a good range of choices. Due to the nature of the building, the signage was confusing.
- Maria (8/5): -
- Jaqui (8/5): Good hotel in a good location. - Good location, nice decor, great bed and bedding I was hoping The George would ask me for a review and then I wouldn’t mention the shower. The shower base was so slippery I had to stand on the bath mat, I mentioned this to a lovely receptionist in private and she said two other guests had said the same 🤷♀️ This is a serious fault if someone had slipped and fell they could have cracked their head open.
It would have been nice to have had a chair in the room and not just a stool.
Also no fridge!!

- Rita (6/5): Well located hotel for a short stay. - The location was good and on site parking. Not the fault of the hotel but some very loud and inconsiderate guests making a lot of noise until 2.30am.
Also the diner is below ground so quite dark and there isn’t a bar.
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Alexa (9/5): - Lovely stay, just beware that if you choose the breakfast on booking.com you don’t get the full breakfast
- Robert (9/5): Great hotel in good central location - Beautifully decorated, welcoming staff and good location Nothing
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Bobbi (6/5): - The shower was divine!! And the bed was very comfortable. The Dining Room was nice...24-hour access to teas and coffees and fruits. I had to work, and the wifi was strong down there, and had plenty of room for me to spread out. The room (#9) was very small. Barely a foot on either side of the bed to the wall and very little space for more than one carryon suitcase. The desk was very small, and not at all viable to use as an actual desk. Not enough room to put a laptop on and work from so if you're working, you'll have to use the Dining Room area in the lower floor.
- Lori (10/5): - The property was so pretty, staff was exceptional, and location was superb.
- Philip (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - The staff were very helpful; especially as we had to change our accomodation at the last minute. They were extremely helpful with disabled parking and the 'coffee machine'.
Great breakfast with locally sourced produce. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Claire (9/5): - Fantastic location with so many lovely little touches that made our stay.perfect. The breakfast was really good and we would definitely stay again.
- Katherine (1/5): Not clean - disgusting - Nice modern decor One night stay started out promising but one major issue. As we were leaving, noticed what looked like poo on the decorative bed throw. DISGUSTING. Would not stay here again due to that. Also, the continental breakfast included in the bed and breakfast rate is a joke. I would expect some type of meat or cheese or eggs but no a few pastries, yogurt and fruit only. Stay elsewhere
- Derek (7/5): Overall acceptable. - Location. Size of room. Breakfast Very little space for clothes (1 week stay). No space in shower room for toiletries. Pathetic faint bedside reading lamps / room lighting too bright. Dangerous narrow tread stairs in dim lit stairwells. TV kept turning itself on for no reason. Difficult to register for WiFi; would not auto connect every day.
- Simone (8/5): Nice location, appealing decor - Good location, nice decor, friendly reception staff member Felt the room was looking tired and was very dusty.
- Kirsty (8/5): - Beautiful generous room. Very comfortable. Staff friendly. Great central location. Only complaint was shower was lukewarm others great stay.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Pippie (10/5): Fantastic Every Time! - Absolutely on point as ever. I stay here alone with my elderly mum. The staff always ensure we have a room suitable for my mum and the disabled parking bay is available. Cannot fault anything. Highly recommend this hotel. Nothing
- ann (8/5): - Location Overpriced room
- David (7/5): Well located, don't pay for breakfast in advance. - The hotel was stylish and the room looked like the pictures on the website. The room was much larger than we were expecting. It is very well located. The breakfast was a scam. It costs more to book breakfast in advance than it does to walk off the street and have breakfast. The car parking was a few spots directly outside the entrance, in reality most guest have to use a public carpark.
- Tara (6/5): Overall decent, but would expect more from amount paid. - Good location, lady on reception very nice! Ground floor room very noisy. Lots of dust and dirty marks on walls
- Andy (10/5): Lovely room and special thanks for holding onto my bag, of which I forgot while in a rush to catch taxi-thank you! -
- Jonathan (9/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): -
- ashley (4/5): -
- Lucy (5/5): V average - Good location. Room nice decor Bathroom window did not shut so room v cold
- Valerie (9/5): Bon rapport qualité prix - Taille de la chambre et le décor
- Susan (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): -
- Erin (9/5): -
- Graeme (7/5): -
- Nikki (6/5): -
- Bradley (9/5): - Smooth check-in, stylish and comfortable decor and a great location. AC was ineffective but this was not a significant issue.

- Tracy (8/5): - Beautiful rooms & helpful staff One of the rooms was next to the external air conditioning unit which was noisy
- Dawn (10/5): -
- Gemma (10/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Recommend - Parking, short walk into town. Nice room. N\A
- Smithers (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Cheltenham - A very warm welcome and tastefully decorated room. I love the concept of the 'Pantry' at reception where you can purchase home made pastries or grab a drink for your room. Very friendly, professional and helpful staff. Not much not to like. Maybe, a telephone for the rooms in top floor to call down to reception.
- Bernardita (10/5): -
- Timea (10/5): - Kényelmes ágy, óriási fürdő, tökéletesen felszerelt szoba.
- David (9/5): -
- Vanessa (9/5): -
- ashley (4/5): - Design and location Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Aircon broken. Tony room for the money.
- Gordon (9/5): - Friendly staff, well appointed rooms with good location. Excellent continental breakfast Gents toilets downstairs required some maintenance
- Peter (6/5): Due the the room issues we did not sleep well . When paying over £300 you expect a good nights sleep and the rooms to be - I liked the boutique style of the hotel and location We booked two rooms - one room had twin beds which were very squashed and hard to get around the room. The room had a disabled ensuite where the shower constantly leaked . We didnt ask for a disabled bathroom.
The second double room had a high pitched tone which sounded throughout the night which came from the air con box. Despite the air con not being on, the sound continued all night which meant very little sleep was had . There was nobody to speak to about this during the night or the next day when we checked out. Because of these issues the rooms and the stay was not satisfactory .
- Robin (8/5): -
- Heather (8/5): -
- John (8/5): A really good value option. - Very friendly staff, very comfortable room and a convenient location No option for an evening meal.
- ian (8/5): convenient venue for the Everyman Theatre - Good coffee Would have liked more choice at breakfast of bread/rolls, and the fresh orange juice machine was not working
- Demetra (1/5): Worst customer service - N/a I must say that my stay at the George was very disappointing. It was all down to the manager Bex and her communication. In Sunday morning when I arrived for breakfast before 11am, I was told that the chef went home. After asking Bex what we can order aside of the continental breakfast, she advised nothing with no apology and claimed that I ‘left breakfast a bit too late’ to catch the hot food. Seeing as I paid £190 for the stay and breakfast service, I was made to feel like an idiot by her.
- Gill (10/5): Lovely hotel, great staff, excellent location - The reception and restaurant staff were very helpful and approachable. The hotel is styled beautifully and we loved the extra little touches in the bedrooms, like a welcome bite of cake, the coffee machine, wine glasses and bottle opener! We were on a flying visit and didn't have time to enjoy the breakfast at the hotel, just a quick cup of coffee.
- Julian (6/5): Ok - Location No bar or restaurant and all very green
- linda (10/5): Stylish supplying everything one might need. Very good varied continental breakfast. - A beautifully appointed hotel. Decor was very good and every tiny detail was present to ensure a comfortable stay. Couldn’t fault it. A very comfortable bed
- David (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): - Very comfortable and quirky . Free parking .
- Sue (9/5): - Nice decor. Great location.
- Dolman (10/5): - Loved the room decor was stylish...Staff were friendly... We had a great time will be returning! X
- Eames (9/5): Would stay here again - Decor of the hotel
Breakfast Very minor detail- no light above the mirror and coffee area in the room
- Matthew (6/5): - Clean. Good reception staff. Very loud.
- Daryl (9/5): -
- Wiktoria (7/5): - Very comfortable beds, clean and lovely room , very nice staff. Good location Very small room but for one night was good.
- Jessica (9/5): -
- David (8/5): Short weekend break in order to explore Cheltenham. Absolutely perfect for this - The staff were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. First class.
Breakfast was exceptional.
Veggie sausage excellent. Nothing. It was all very pleasant.
- Vicky (10/5): A wonderful place to stay and convenient location for the town. - We had a wonderful welcome, great room with so much space and comfort. They also had a wonderful free food and snacks and a place to buy extra drinks and snacks. Hot breakfast to be ncluded with price.
- Shelly (8/5): - We stayed ahead of the races , and it was a quick walk into town, staff where really helpful , breakfast was really nice , lovely pantry for the continental and hot food was great We had a twin room , beds where on the small side
