Guest Reviews
- Adeline (7/5): Dépaysant - Très atypique et joliment fait. Bon petit déjeuner typique. Personnel accueillant.

- Tolle ruhige Lage, Einzigartig, nettes Personal, leckeres Frühstück, es fehlt an NICHTS !!
- Ridas (10/5): - viskas buvo fainai, gyvenimas be sviesos turi savo sarma, bet galetu padaryti nors viena rozete kambaryje kad nebegioti i recepsana krauti telefono
- Bea (9/5): - The atmosphere, the quiet, and the quaintness. Free parking, and an excellent breakfast (at extra cost). It was expected, but the access road would be very difficult to drive in the dark. If you're eating out, go early and get back before dark.
- Konstantinos (7/5): -
- Toms (10/5): Amazing - The peace and quite was amazing. The hostess was welcoming and told us about the history of this place and gave us in the morning great breakfast. Had some problems with water in the shower, but it was swiftly restored.

- Sanja (1/5): Bad -
- Francoise (6/5): Unique experience but not ‘ethnic chic’. - The property is ideal if you want an unplugged experience or be in a secluded location, yet 5 minutes from Makrygialos. The owners and the manageress Michaela could not be more friendly and helpful. Each unit has its own terrace and outside seating, which is ideal for meals. The fact that there are no plugs in the rooms encourages positive exchanges with guests and staff in the main reception room. There are however issues. This property is sold as a unique experience and this is reflected in a room rate that is higher than other conventional properties. However the kitchen and bathroom were very basic - flimsy pan handle and a very blunt knife for instance. There is no shower curtain as the bathroom is a wet room but a bath mat was not provided and there was only a broom to try and evacuate the excess water, rather than a more efficient ‘squeegee’. So you have to dry your feet once back in the kitchen area…
There is a vertiginous, narrow hairpin bend with no barrier on the way to the property so beware if you’re scared of heights. Chances are that you are used to Cretan roads and most guests didn’t seem bothered.
- Miron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional - Very unique ancient village renovated into apartments. Quiet and private in a beautiful and isolated location. We bought the breakfast and it was great value with very generous portions.
- Joseph (9/5): Superb - Cool stay In the old converted houses .if you want to detach this is the place .greated by Michela who showed us around .there is only electric for fridge and bathroom light but no electricity points .you can charge your phones in reception .gas stove for boiling water and oil lamps aswell as l.e.d lighting .had a real comfy sleep and chilling on our terrace at night was cool .15 minute walk into makry galos .tip if you do this take a torch as some parts not very well lit .comfy nights sleep Nothing .Read the reviews this will give you all the info
- Aleksandar (10/5): An unforgettable stay at a place out of this world - The place is located in a very picturesque area and the atmosphere is one of a kind. You almost feel like you are staying in a place out of this world - full of beauty, quietness and tranquility. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and told us the story of the place, which made it even more special for us. The only thing is that the place is not properly located in Waze, so if you are using navigation to get there by car make sure that you are using Google Maps.
- Levent (9/5): Superb -
- Nikolaos (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (10/5): Absolutely worth seeing - This place is so cool just be warned, There’s no plugs in the rooms so the electricity is solar. It’s awesome to disconnect for a day or two or a week. And be wary of Google Maps because she will attack you and send you to the middle of nowhere.
The staff were so nice and accommodating. We loved our stay!!! Nothing it was amazing
- Stefania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed our stay, the beds very comfortable and our host Michaela very helpful, providing us with some magical places to visit. The first morning we enjoyed an amazing breakfast and I would highly recommend. Take time to read through the folder on the restoration of the property and you will have an appreciation of the work done to make it a unique place to stay in Crete.
- Geoffrey (8/5): A very special place hosted by a very kind and helpful staff - We enjoyed the cnncept of Aspros Potomos. It is a place where you can clear your head of life's bustle. the kitchen facilities could be improved
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Ideal for disconnecting and connecting with yourself and the beautiful surrounding nature. - The locations is absolutely amazing. You have to be aware it’s a bit secluded but with google maps you’ll get there easily. The locally prepared breakfast was just delicious! Real recommendation!
Both ladies at the reception were very helpful and welcoming. The accommodation is exactly as described. No electricity plugs and almost no cellphone connection. Wifi only at the reception. These things are mentioned on booking but it needs some getting used to.
Ideal for disconnecting and connecting with yourself and the beautiful surrounding nature.
- David (9/5): BEST ORGANIC EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE - A VERY SPECIAL SPOT TO BE! - This is the perfect place to stay if you want to chill out. There are actual solar charged lights in the bedroom and washroom so that was a surprise. You did have to charge phone sin common room but that was fine as it is part of living here - an unplugged vibe. Incredibly nice staff - especially Michaela (sp?) who was very kind. We had the breakfast for 9e per person and it was worth it. Good coffee, homemade cheese pie, homemade pancakes, fresh lemonade, fruit, yoghurt.
Great location to hike the gorge and also a short easy and safe 20 minute walk down the ravine to restaurants nearby. Bed was okay, sheets were fine,, towels were fine. Wifi in main common room/office was fine - but no wifi in rooms as advertised so no surprise there. You are to unplug...and you do! Kind of cramped. We had the best sleep in a long while as it is so quiet with just the crickets at night. Also don't forget to go to the small village of Pefki for dinner just 15 minutes away. We will stay here again given the chance - just loved it! There is a slight scent of kerosene as they have the lamps for the room if you wish to use them. We did not use them so it was not that bad.
- Eghtebas (9/5): Charming, Calm, and Cats - I liked feeling like I was living without electricity and having a gas lamp and gas stove. It was a nice LARPing situation where it is almost halfway like camping. I also really loved the cats that come to "bother" you as you sit on your part of the terrace. I made a nice friend that day. Make sure your car is okay driving on unpaved mountain roads because you need it to get there.
- Aleksander2107 (10/5): Built different. - Absolutely unique experience and one of its kind. Residence is in desolated place, in true traditional houses with minimalistic electricity. However, don't be fooled - everything you need is provided by wonderful, helpful host. Even if you need to break your vows and recharge your phone - there is a possibility.
PS. The mattress is very comfortable.
- Meleni (10/5): Simple, Comfortable, Minimalistic, quite, relaxing - Amazing view, perfekt place to relax in the mountains and also really close to the beach. The people, that take care of the place are super nice and you feel so comfortable:)
- Ελινα (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juste (10/5): Fantastic experience - It was an excellent stay. No electricity, just fans and light in the wc/shower room, the internet was only in the reception area. We could charge our phones in the reception. It's a very different experience, but amazing. We would definitely repeat it. Everything was perfect.
- Marina (9/5): Superb -
- Dariusz (10/5): Exceptional - A lot of lovely cats
- Vasilis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Akis (8/5): Very good - The traditional concept of the place, the patio and the view. The size of the room.
- Susan (10/5): A wonderful escape from the world - Quirky different and peaceful Nothing
- John (8/5): Very good - very different experience, scenery amazing
- Hillary (7/5): Good -
- Emilie (10/5): Exceptional - Extraordinary peaceful place, close to the beach, the old village of Pefki, and all the commodities.
Our house was comfortable, with the necessary equipment and lovely ancient decoration.
The typical homemade breakfast is truly delicious!
Thank you again
- Pablo (10/5): Magical place! - There is something magic about this place - it was great to be able to stay on those refurbished hitorical houses - great place to disconnect and relax. Sunset on the outside area and nightime inside the room were amazing.
The room itself was very clean and comfortable plus had everything you need. Location is great close to the gorge and the beach and it is pretty easy to find by car.
Staff was really nice and helpful!
You feel totally isolated but the village is pretty close and you can actually order food for delivery from some of the nearby restaurants.
- Lynne (10/5): So unusual, rare,. - Extraordinary experience , historic. Nothing.
- Bob (9/5): A very interesting and different type of accommodation - but fun - The breakfast was very good. The rooms are as described - this is not a 5 star hotel, it is a special low-tech experience, which is exactly why we went there. It is an easy 15 minute walk to the beach if you use the path. The road to enter by car takes much longer. And the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a very special place to stay. The wi-fi signal is not strong, however you don't go to Aspros Potamos to play on your phone all day
- Monika (10/5): Lovely - The accommodations was something different and that way a new experience
- Penelope (10/5): The perfect place to escape into nature. - A unique stay in a beautiful setting. The accommodation is rustic and simple. The perfect place to escape into nature.
- Robbin (1/5): Don't visit this accommodation in summer - - Temperature at night in the room remained 28 degrees Celcius (unbearable)
- The accomodation host did not put any effort in resolving the issue for us -- ultimately we left the accommodation sooner and did not receive compensation
- Light in bathroom very unsafe (unprotected wiring)
- Caio (6/5): Pleasant - Quite remote and quiet location with nice views. Great view of the stars during the night. The room wasn't comfortable.
- Christoph (4/5): Lost in the mountains - A quiet place Difficult access by road,, no internet at the appartment, only at reception.
- Jaka (10/5): Lovely place to stay and relax. -
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peggy (10/5): Serenity in the middle of the olive trees away from the crowds. - Travel back in time! So peaceful and simple. Go for the amazing breakfast under the trees. Nothing.
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - Just amazing everything
