And not just because of the wonderful historic building set in an incredible location, the high standard of furnishings and cleanliness, but also because of the high quality of service and attentiveness that every member of staff provides. From the check in experience, the bar, the Bistro and breakfast, everyone couldn’t have been more polite or helpful. And speaking of food, wow! We ate in the bistro, and the food was stunning, and very reasonably priced (IMO). Breakfast the next morning was also such a high quality treat. I have nothing but positive things to say about our stay at the hotel.

- Stacy (10/5): - This is the finest place I've stayed in the Lakes thus far. The hotel grounds are magnificent. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Every meal was exceptional, both breakfasts and dinners. For me, what truly sets Storrs Hall apart is the excellence of the entire staff. Everyone was so friendly and glad to assist. I've rarely, if ever, experienced such a warm welcome and genuine interaction. The hotel's location feels rather remote, and no public transportation (bus/boat/train) can be easily accessed by foot. That said, Bowness is a five-minute drive away. Car parks are plentiful there. Highly recommended for an idyllic getaway. I would be delighted to stay at Storrs Hall again.

The hotel Itself is beautiful and it was nice to have access to lovely lounge areas, bar and stunning gardens. Particularly nice in the evening just as the sun was setting. The rooms were large and well appointed and the shower was amazing. Loved the TV in the bath, not that we used it but still novel for those wanting to truely unwind. The included breakfast was delicious with a range of options to meet all tastes.

Everything about this venue is superb, especially the wonderful staff who never fail to make us feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is so comfortable with lots of rooms to sit and relax. The log fires add to the comfort. Breakfast is so enjoyable with lots of choice. You can dine in the Bistro or the Restaurant and the food is all lovely. There is also a bar menu if you just want a snack.

The food was stunning although rich and fancy, be nice to have lighter options. Could have been warmer but the fires were on and all radiators all the time and it was in the minus numbers in a very old house so it’s forgiven.

Well appointed, spacious room (even though it was only the ‘standard’ level) Excellent breakfast in a great setting overlooking Lake Windermere followed by a stroll around the grounds with beautiful views of the Lake District National Park. - Sophie (6/5): - Positives: The grounds of the hotel are beautiful right on the lake. The food was really tasty (I ate in the bistro) and breakfast was especially special with lots of offerings and extras offered - all plate served not buffet style. The staff were all friendly and made me feel welcome. My room and bathroom were really clean - dressing gown and towel provided and a cloud 9 hairdryer is a bonus. Espresso machine and freebies included is a nice touch. Huge bed and smart TV. Cons: I paid £88 on Expedia only to find out when checking out that this was just a “deposit?” And was charged an additional £25 (was not expecting this). My bedroom door didn’t lock - I mentioned to someone on reception that it wasn’t auto locking when I left the room but they did not check for me and said I mustn’t be shutting it properly (the lock was not working and I slept with it unlocked all night) Had it have been inner city I would have felt unsafe but in the lakes I was ok with it.

Had heavy suitcase to negotiate to the top floor (room32) and as my recent back operation was still healing I requested a ground floor room. The staff fully understood and moved me to room7 on the first floor. The view from room 7 was disgusting as green slime covered the wall about 5 feet from the window. When this dries it will give off spores and thus prevented me from opening the window. The staff were great

It didn’t cool as much as we would like for a wife that gets hot flashes & being used to keeping your body cool at night for best sleeps (we Americans love our AC.) had to open small upper corner windows at night, but they are behind closed blinds for privacy and difficult to get the cold air into the room. Beds were a little worn out but overall slept good. Staff was amazingly nice, gave advice on sights to see, and very accommodating at breakfast and front desk. Large tub was awesome. Room was very quiet.

The room was nicely decorated with a very modern bathroom plus (in our room) a bath arranged so that you could look out across the grounds to the lake whilst bathing. Nice. A good restaurant, a cosy bar, a quiet study and a comfortable drawing room and well tended gardens complete the picture.

- Stephen (10/5): Anniversary. - It was amazing the views and location. It was are 12th year anniversary and to celebrate it there was just beautiful. We have been going for a few years now. My wife loved it and enjoyed it so much she " she has never been so relaxed as she was that weekend. And the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We will be back again. Thank you for a great weekend.

- Artur (10/5): - I stayed in this fantastic manor house for Autumn's weekend away with my partner. Storr Hall has incredible views of Windermere lake and offers many walks around. You will experience an excellent breakfast, very comfy rooms and enjoy a cosy drawing room with a wood fireplace and a beautiful and comfortable bar with a good selection of drinks. The perfect starting place for walks around Lakes. The only weak point is wifi coverage through the building is not great... enjoy your time offline!
- Ronnie (10/5): 5 Night break - We have stayed in this hotel before and were not disappointed with our stay. Unfortunately, no lift for me, but they gave us a room near the stairs which was lovely. Staff were very accommodating and the service from the bar staff (James) was far and beyond. Also, one waitress who went beyond for us was Jasmine, her attitude to the job was superb and her manner was great. She was very willing to talk and help whenever possible. Between the 2 of them they helped make our stay. One member of staff that we found quite gruff was the foreign short haired waitress in the dining room. She came across quite abrupt and was not very pleasant at times when asked questions. I got bad vibes from her. Other than the fact that it rained all week, it did not spoil our stay and we will be back.

- Philip (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in a fantastic position on the lakeside. Attentive staff throughout especially in the restaurant where we had a memorable dinner overlooking the gardens down to lake Windermere. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a quality en-suite. I would highly recommend this hotel you won’t be disappointed.

- ALAN (10/5): Room 27....!!!! - Initially we had a lakeside view room...fantastic room.then we were put in room 27...!!! which is exactly over the kitchen delivery area...at 6am you get lorries unloading veg & kitchen supplies....not nice at all.KEEP AWAY FROM Rm 27...!!! Otherwise service and food was excellent
- Daniel (6/5): Nice stay but expensive with no spa - Beautiful, picturesque location and staff are very friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Jasmin and Ben. A great asset to this hotel. However, the main hotel rooms are dated although the bedroom is large and our bathroom was lovely and modern with separate shower and bath. This hotel is also very clean. The food was nice (very good breakfast). We booked for one evening meal and found the portions to be small. We still felt hungry afterwards. In my opinion it was expensive for what it was and they appear to be presenting the food as nouvelle cuisine style, but it lacks the intense flavours of that type of tasting food. We were disappointed that there was no spa facilities for the price we paid, especially in comparison to other lake district hotels that do have spa facilities. However, we did enjoy our short stay there, but would maybe return in future if the hotel is modernised and included spa facilities.
- jemima (8/5): - We had a wonderful stay. There are beautiful grounds, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent. The staff were also great. The only negative was I didn’t like the decor in our newly decorated suite. Obviously expensively done but the fabrics and wallpaper were unattractive. A real shame.
- ANDREW (10/5): - A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Friendly welcome and the room overlooking the lane was fantastic and comfortable, wonderful bathroom. Ate in the restaurant on the first night, nice romantic table for 2 in the conservatory which was tucked away and beautiful views over the lake. Breakfasts were excellent and service throughout our stay was friendly and helpful

- Robert (10/5): A Proper Hotel - In all aspects (staff, food, ambiance, cleanliness, comfort) very, very good. Not often you can say ‘ no complaints whatsoever’. A standard that every hotel should be looking to match or possibly exceed.
