• Matthew (10/5): Great stay while fishing - Not far from the lake or food . Beds are comfortable showers hot. Great little hotel. Will stay there again No microwave.
• Wes (3/5): I will not stay at this motel again. - It was located close the boat ramps. The staff were decent at correcting the shortcomings I had with my stay The place is pretty run down. Upon arrival the tv in my room didn’t work, the AC/heating unit was very loud, they only table lamp in the room flickered on and off when in use and there were ants in the bathroom. There was no toilet paper or drinking glasses in the room. The hotel is misrepresented on their website. The website offers breakfast and coffee daily. I was told that only happens during the summer months. It also claimed electrical an electrical hookup to charge boat batteries. This didn’t exist. The staff had to run an extension cord from the building to accommodate the need.

• James (2/5): - Steelhead Inn is a hangout for riff raff. Super sketchy people everywhere. We had to leave in the middle of the night due to loud guests next to us. I felt really unsafe. Room was dirty. No toilet paper. Drug and alcohol abuse everywhere to be seen. Perminant residents here, living like the place is a drug house. An absolute horrible experience. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
• Zach (8/5): - Was definitely a decent place to stay. You do get what you pay for though. Walls are pretty thin, so you might hear the people next to you. The bed wasnt uncomfortable but definitely worn out. The bathroom is very small but clean. We did have to go ask for toliet paper, as there was none left in the room. Overall, not a terrible place to spend a night, not sure if I would stay longer though.

• Lewis (4/5): - The only thing I liked about the property was the proximity to Presque Isle, although I did not go in the pool, it looked nice enough, the grounds could use a spruce up. The whole motel was is in a great location for where we needed to be and the last motel/hotel that wasn’t over $300, but even at $189 I way overpaid! The walls are so thin you can hear the conversations of the people next door and snoring thru the walls, we had holes in the ceiling, holes in the bathroom door, the carpet is from the 1950’s and smells damp and musty, the beds are ok, but the box springs are filthy and not covered and the sheets for the bed barely fit on the matress. There are window ac units and I had to stand on the counter top to turn it on and off. The whole place smells like cigarettes and weed from the people smoking right outside the doors, and apparently there is a complimentary coffee, bagels and muffins in the office in the morning, but the office doesn’t open up until 11 which is also check out time. It could be so much more if the owners/staff put in a little effort, in a pinch it was a place to shower and sleep, did I feel safe…..no, would I stay again, no.
• Angel (1/5): Couldn't wait to leave. - The only thing we liked about this place was the closeness to the Presque Isle. It was also close to several restaurants. The beds sucked, not enough pillows, didn't have a good smell. People staying in the rooms surrounding us were very loud throughout the night. Couldn't use the pool it was closed. Instead of an ice machine, they had a cooler with ice in the office area.
• jenniferdH4060BY (4/5): Not likely to stay again. Dangerous in spots. - 2 Front office has half brick covered over with a mesh rug type thing. I fell over it. Scraped and bloodied my knee, scraped my hands, and pulled a muscle in my thigh in the back. I can hardly sleep. Very dangerous entry way. In front of my room are half opened sand bags which is another safety concern. Will not stay here again after check out on Sunday and will have my husband return the keys as I'm not taking the chance of falling again at the entry. Definitely not worth the money we paid for 2 nights.

Called the front desk and waited 30 minutes for maintenance to tell us that ‘yeah he knew that there was a problem, but don’t know what’ My husband said right away ‘there’s no P-trap in the shower’. We requested sheets and pillowcases because there were flies all over the bed . We went in in office in the morning, asked to see the manager, and the girl said that she was out of town. I said we would like to request a partial refund. This is unacceptable, gross, I could barely sleep and didn’t take a shower, and the girl said “well if you need to take a shower, I can put you in another room to do that’. I said ‘we’re checking out today as planned’. Never heard from the manager and when our travel agent called, they said Steelhead denied any refund at all saying that I was offered another place to stay and declined it. The girl flat out lied and yet still haven’t heard from the owner. We have been staying there for years and deserve better than this as a customer.

• bailey (2/5): disgusting - Formal Request for Full Refund Due to Uninhabitable Conditions – July 12 Stay To Steelhead Inn Management, I am writing to formally request a full refund for my stay at your property on July 12, 2024, which I booked through Hotels.com. The conditions of the room and the experience I endured with my family were unacceptable, especially under the circumstances we were facing. That evening, I had just left the emergency room after my husband was treated for heat exhaustion. I was alone with him and our two young children, trying to find a safe place to rest after a chaotic and frightening day. What I found at Steelhead Inn was the opposite of safe, clean, or acceptable. The issues included: • A broken television, for which you sent a maintenance worker to our room after 10 PM, further disrupting our already stressed and exhausted family. • A shower so full of bugs it could not drain, making it impossible for anyone to bathe. The infestation was deeply unsanitary and disturbing. • We were forced to pack up and move rooms late at night — an unreasonable and distressing situation with two small children. This was not a minor inconvenience. It was a nightmare stay after a medical emergency, and it failed to provide even the most basic standard of hospitality and hygiene. No family should have to endure what we did. I am requesting a full refund of returned to my original form of payment, within 7 business days. If I do not receive confirmation of this refu

• edward (4/5): Very rundown. - I’ve seen cheap hotels before, but usually they are making some effort to improve. This hotel seems like it gave up on that long ago. Instead of just having one thing wrong with the room, there were several. Bugs everywhere, a bent door that doesn’t seal, a wet floor from overflowing toilet, a bed that is caved in in the middle. A TV that doesn’t work. An air conditioner with all of the knobs broke off. A toilet that doesn’t completely flush and just all around outdated.

• Sarah (2/5): - From the moment I pulled in I knew it was going to be a disaster. The property looks rough and the pool is green and cloudy. When we entered our room it was hot and SUPER small. We turned on the yellow stained, dusty window unit AC and got an unpleasant musty smell. At first glance it was clean but as we looked around we discovered a dirty bathroom, a used washcloth still in the shower, bugs in the sink, stained furniture, etc. We had to ask for toilet paper and towels because there were none. When we got the towels there were stains all over them. The walls are paper thin, which was unfortunate at 3am when the neighbors were fighting about getting high after we seen them standing in their doorway smoking what looked like a crack pipe. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe, we blocked the door nightly with a chair because there is no deadbolts on the door by the way. Had I had the means to do so, I would have turned around and left the minute I seen the room. But, if you’re looking for a quick fix or possibly a prostitute, this place is perfect for you!

• theal685 (2/5): Bugs Mold and Stains - There was an extremely strong artificial air freshener smell, and bugs were flying around the room. Who knows what kind of bad smells were being covered up. Then looking closer at where the bugs were coming from, the back counter, that had a microwave and mini fridge, was wet, deteriorating, growing big patches of mold, and hopping with bugs all over. The sheets were thin had stains that looked unwashed and holes. Even the walls had visible dirt and un matched touch up paint in random spots, and behind the bathroom door was another rotting section of wall. Very grossed out and disappointed. We still have not gotten a refund after notifying the staff that we were not going to be staying there. It left us with no where to stay because everywhere else had no vacancies at that point, which shows how disgusting this place is that it’s the only hotel with vacancies in town. It’s not worth the risk.
• Rebecca (2/5): - I stayed because they have a heated pool advertised. We checked in in 6/19 and stayed for 2 nights. Upon checking in I asked to cancel due to the pool not being open. They said I couldn’t. We went to our room. The tv didn’t work. There was no lightbulb in the lamp. The beds were so soft and the springs were poking through. The pillows were so soft. We had to climb over the bed to get to the fridge. The tv was reprogrammed and would randomly shut off and change stations. The shower didn’t drain and the toilet didn’t flush. I would not stay here!!
• Catherine (6/5): Budget hotel, clean, great location - Budget hotel, family run, pleasant and helpful staff, in a location close to the interstate, near eateries and Presque Isle State Park. The rooms are modest but adequate, and undergoing renovation. Despite the description, there was no in room coffee, and breakfast, and even coffee, did not start until 8, which was way too late for me. That was disappointing.
• Rhonda (3/5): It was the worst place I ever stayed in and I am a frequent traveler. - The front desk staff was pleasant and allowed us into the room before the 3:00 check in, but as soon as we went in it all went down hill. The place was dirty and there were gnats in our room. The pool was closed and I booked it so I could swim. The room was so small the door the bathroom didn't open all of the way and you couldn't walk to the table the microwave was on unless you climbed over the bed. It was not a pleasant or comfortable stay. To make matters worse, my request (two times) for towels and toilet tissue was denied.

This made us very uncomfortable because it's very unsafe. My mother paid for the room for this reason and asked for a refund but was denied. When we arrived to the motel room, it was dirty and unclean. There were people hanging outside the rooms and drinking and smoking. The property felt unsafe. We left the property and went somewhere else for the night. I really would like for my mom to get her money back.

There was dirt in the corner of the bathroom and the one duvet cover on the bed had a stain. Person next to me was smoking and could smell it in my room and hear them coughing all night. The staff was very pleasant but the place needs cleaned better and room that have supplies like toilet paper and shower linen.

• Verified traveler (2/5): 4 total trips with 50/50 good and bad reviews - The first time that we stayed here, it was good. The room was stocked and clean and check in was a breeze. The second time, we had people screaming and cussing each other out in the parking lot in the middle of the night. The TV in the room that we were in didnt work and they said that they would fix it but never did. We had to ask for towels multiple times and the dirty sheets from the prior guests were still on the floor in the room. The following week we came up again and a friend of ours got the same room as we had for the second trip and complained of people screaming at each other and fighting in the middle of the night. The TV was also still not fixed. Our room was better that trip so we gave it one more go this past weekend. The room was dirty. The sheets had hair all over them, the pillows had hair and spots (orange/brown blood like color) on them, there were medical tape chunks on the inside of the bathroom door frame with what looks like blood under them. There was no remote for the AC/fan/heating unit so we had to get a step stool from our vehicle to turn the heat on. We stayed here because we needed a place to sleep and shower and that was pretty much it. We leave the room before light to fish and dont return until well after dark so we don't need anything fancy but this time was enough. We will be finding somewhere else from now on. I don't like to be the person to leave negative reviews but some things are just too much to ignore.

• Dean (2/5): - Our first room was nice inside, but the walls are thin and the guy next to ours had their TV on really loud so late, so we asked if we could move. Then the took us to another room next to a lady who had a dog, then they thought that was not a good idea, so the took us to another room which seems nice as well, but then more problems started. There was a group of guys outside two rooms down carrying on to all hours of the night. I was concerned about saying anything to them because they were loud and they were talking about some bad things. At 2:30 am I was awakened with laughing and loud talking outside. then they quited down. then at 4:30 am more loud noises and loud talking. Then at 6 am a tow truck arriving in front of our room making loud noises. Just as the sun came up, the group of guys left and the party was over. The motel should not have allowed this to happen. I didn't want to say anything to them because of fear of retaliation and possible vandalisim of my car. We did not feel safe and it was not worth it at all. I DO NOT recommend staying here.

The promised rooms were supposed to be next to eachother (and joined if possible), and were not. The check in was terrible, the worker wasn’t even familiar with what to do to properly check in. Not to mention it took 3 phone calls to get anyone in The office to check in.

I had to scramble to find another hotel room in the city. I thought it was unacceptable how they handle the property reservations, and the front desk staff told me this has happened before.

• Lisa (6/5): - room was clean. we thought the bed was uncomfortable but beds are a personal preference, others may love it. website states office is open from 9:30am-11pm. we got there a little before 2:30, no one around. number on window to call for help, no one answered. finally after 10 minutes i saw a worker, he said he would get someone. she told we can't check in until 3pm! i have NEVER been told by any motel or hotel i couldn't check in if i was a bit early. i was told to come back after 3! wi-fi wouldn't work in my room. i told front desk but she said it was an incorrect password....well, it works 3 doors up. told another worker about it and he said he would check it out, it didn't work the entire time we were there unless i went 3 doors closer to the office.

• Francisco (8/5): Mine - The ease of booking. The location is perfect for the peninsula. Fair price for last minute booking The fact their was no breakfast included. Snacks foe convenience would be cool for the kiddos

• Deirdre (4/5): - Pool was dirty and bedsprings were broken.making bed slant downhill..staff was rude upon checkout when told about boxsprings. She acted like we must have broken them. We didnt tell them the night before due to it being late when we realized it and we just propped it up best we could.

• John (10/5): - The motel is a nice, quiet place close to the Peninsula, which was why we chose it! The staff was outstanding. It was decent in cleanliness. Room features all worked including air! And it was very affordable!! Great deal for the price!!

• Brad (6/5): Pricey for small room - The location and the nostalgia feeling of the old time Presque Isle motels. Probably the smallest room I have ever rented. Very small and tight area in bathroom. Window A/C unit very loud. Single door key and door not very secure.
• Edward (4/5): - Got good sleep first night but the night of Sat. 7/28/2024, neighboring guests were sitting outside nearby and talking loudly until 2:45 AM!

• Janice (6/5): - No coffee maker in the room even though there were coffee cups and coffee provided. Saw bugs in bathroom. Air conditioner very loud and old. Comfy bed. Neighbor's child came in our room when one of us stepped outside to car.
• Joel (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I checked in and was given a key to a room that was already occupied. I knew that it was already occupied because there was luggage in the room when I opened the door. Luckily the person occupying the room wasn’t in there, or that would’ve been very awkward. I went back to the front desk to bring it to their attention and they gave me a key to another room and that room had stained sheets, and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. I went to the front desk and asked to just cancel the reservation because I was unhappy with the service. They informed me that I would have to cancel with Expedia. Once I called Expedia to cancel, Expedia said that they would have to call the property to confirm the situation. Once the representative from Expedia got back on the line, they told me that this establishment is denying the refund. I called the property and the property manager was very nasty. Please don’t waste your money here. Learn from my experience. I hope this helps the next person with their booking.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Dead mouse in already filthy pool - We took our daughter to the beach for a few days and stayed here. The room is what it is...it's an older place, we get that. No problem. But the pool was absolutely filthy...not even close to being clean enough for a person to be in. Especially with the dead, bloated mouse that floated around in it all weekend.
• Mcwilliams (1/5): Terrible place. Wouldn't let my dog sleep there. - nothing Toilet was off the mount and on its side. The sink bowl was broken and glued together. The room stank. Peeling paint on counters. Pool chained shut and dirty. Had to find another hotel. Don't know how Bookit could even support such a bad facility.

• Sarah (4/5): Baby Cockroach Bed - The front desk attendant was nice, the room was fine. We just needed a place to stay for the night. The biggest issue is that when we went to bed, we found a dead baby cockroach on the top sheet. I went to the front office, but it was late so they were closed. I snapped a picture of it and we threw it away and went to bed because it was late. I attempted to go talk to someone in the office at 11am, but no one was there. The office hours said they started at 11am. They had a number to call for assistance, when I called no one answered. Check out time was 11, so I ended up just putting my key through the drop slot and was never able to actually speak to anyone about the bug in our bed.
• Jessie (6/5): Great location - I liked the location and the price was decent. The towels and linen were clean. Breakfast was promised at a certain time and the office wasn't even open then. The neighbor family next door was loud. The AC was loud so not a great sleep.

• Brandi (2/5): - First things first I have worked in hospitality so i am a very picky person when it comes to hotels/motels. When we arrived we were early and we were told we cold look at the room but it wasnt finished yet. We noticed a whole bed set was missing from the room. They gave us another room but the floors were covered in dirt, the coffee maker was used and never cleaned after previous guests. The air conditioner when turned on left a FOUL ODOR to the point of making me nauseous! We checked out at 5am to find a better room for our last night in Erie. I reccommend lake breeze its very clean, no foul odors, and excellent rates!

• Lucy (6/5): - The staff was very friendly! Owner needs to take more pride in property. The maintenance and maid were great made up for the owner. Bed and shower were good property is old and needs work.
• Beth (8/5): Very good - The staff was amazing helped whenever I needed help and was very kind and love theat there was laundry and very inexpensive to do laundry and huge ice machine and the air-conditioner worked great No shade for the area with the picnic tables and grilling area and need more outside chairs and there was a ant problem
