Guest Reviews
- GlyderFawr (4/5): Very noisy hotel - We asked for a quiet room and still we were woken up at 5am with the breakfast staff. Really spoilt our stay.
Never used the pool. Gym had just had a new floor so smelt of glue and couldn't be used. Room and bathroom OK.
Breakfast was OK.
But a shockingly bad sleep spoiled our stay.
- JORGE ALEXANDER ALARCON (8/5): - The room was comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the service and staff were also excellent. I would return.

- Juan (8/5): - Good stay
- Martha (4/5): Underwhelming - So, they stayed 2 days, and we fogot a shirt in the closet, and houskeeping claims nothing was there or in lost and found. The washer dryer was expensive and didnt dry the clothes.
- Heron (10/5): - Again, Easy Inn Suites did not disappoint. This is my second time in only one month and I’m very happy. Definitely one of the nicest places if you’re not into the hustle and bustle of the quinta avenida. I’m looking forward to another visit very soon.
- Floridalma (10/5): - Excelente
- Heron (10/5): - I think we found out favorite place in Playa de Carmen. If you’re like us and not too interested in the hustle and bustle of the Quinta, then this is the place for you. There’s everything you’ll need nearby … highly recommend it.
- Greg (10/5): - The area around the hotel is Alittle run down and dumpy but the hotel was good.
- Gerardo (10/5): - Excelente
- Iván (10/5): - Hay farmacias, restaurantes y centros comerciales cercas
- Asghar (6/5): - Not many restaurant arounds within walking distance and fast food places,
- andrew (8/5): - Nice rooms
- Minh (10/5): - Nice hotel. Close to Xcaret. Not to kin to the other business next door.
- James (8/5): - Close by
- Tahnia (2/5): - I booked a 1 king bed and they gave me 2 doubles and refused to change it
- julio (6/5): - The beds are very small and uncomfortable
- Robert (10/5): Fantastic! - The staff was so helpful and friendly… we felt right at home. The accommodations were immaculate and well cared for…the nearby Patisserie and restaurants were excellent.
- Frank (6/5): - The property was
- wcb79 (8/5): Convenient location - Stayed for 3 nights a week ago. For the good, staff was friendly, short walk to town (about a 20 min walk), room & common areas were clean, the room is a good size and there's complimentary breakfast from 7am to 11am. They were also very helpful in booking a taxi for me to get to Puerto Morelos. I didn't have a chance to use the pool as I was always walking to the beach.
On the downside, they're doing upgrades to the hotel so it can get a bit loud at times depending on the time of day. There wasn't any early check-in or late checkout available.
- Yvonne (8/5): Good for staying - Very clean room with kitchen. Not too small. Big fridge. All you need for cooking. Bed mattress hard, old pillows but clean.
Breakfast the same every day, could taste better.
Al lot of parking. Walking distance to shopping.
- Jessica (10/5): Quick solo over night - This was my second stay at City Suites. I chose it again, because the first time was so great. It is centrally located, easy to get to and has plenty of amenities. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
- jiahong (10/5): - Very nice hotel, everything was great except location. But it was no problem. We can drive to central just 5 minutes to visit beach and back to quiet hotel for rest.
- Aditya (4/5): - Room they gave us smelled badly and they wouldn’t change it until their maintenance guy looked at it. The maintenance guy couldn’t do anything but still the hotel didn’t agree to change the room easily. After some further discussions and visit to room by hotel staff, they gave us another room. At breakfast they had bread but wouldn’t put butter out and even upon requesting they give only 1 pcs. Hope the service can be improved at this hotel.
- Tania (8/5): - Hotel was good, only my room had a little bit of mold smell
- NORMA (2/5): - THE ROOM WAS DIRTY, AND THE PERSONAL WASN'T KIND
- Carolina (4/5): - Dirty dishes, uncomfortable kitchen, lack of tools for cooking.
The card doesn’t work to activate the elevator, broken washing machines, no offer of Suites has been accomplished
- Loreto (10/5): - Away from the touristy noise. Dining options are available within the compound.
- Hernan (4/5): - The staff seem not to care. There where two of us and they were aunable to leave two bath towels, one hand towel and a floor towel. There was one or two missing every day. The small vending area doesn't have WATER!, Sometimes they change linen, other times they didn't. The location is OK buy I would not go back to it. Whindham is around the corner, same location.
- Jose (10/5): - M
- wilfredo (6/5): - Breakfast was the same daily.
- Martinillo (10/5): - I would love to book again if given a chance. May be a little off with the washroom as it is too little room for the toilet and the door but overall its fantastic
- Bernardo (10/5): Great place! - hotel was really good for what we were looking for. The room as spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great, with eggs, chilaquiles, juice, coffee, breads, etc.
Some hotels allow you to go into your room earlier, if it ready. I dont think that was the case here.
Property has a nice pool. A kids pool is within the adult pool, so it is easier to have your kids play while you are also enjoying the water. The pool area has also some seating area and a bbq grill.
- Yadira (8/5): - We had a nice 4 night stay. The staff was nice and kind. The room was nice, nothing fancy but we like it and it was comfortable. We were missing a remote , but the staff help us right away. The maintenance guy was very slow getting to our room, we clogged the bathroom there are no signs not to put toilet paper down the toilet.
Also there are no covid testing near by the closes one is 4 to 5 blocks away, you will need it to get back to the USA and it will be $25 each person. Also there is food establishments near the hotel, but the supermarket is 4to 5 blooks either way left or right of the hotel. The beach is a 18 min walk to 5th ave. We felt safe around the hotel. The pool was nice not too cold but it got cloudy and with bugs and leaves by the 4th day. One thing i didn't really like is that you the walls ate thin and you can hear your neighbors if they are rowdy or noisy, so bring ear plugs also the last day the water pressure was fluctuating.
Other than that we had a great time.
- Imani (6/5): - I requested a late Check-In and was sent a private message from the hotel stating that that would be fine. They neglected to inform me AT THAT TIME that their credit card machines had been down for 4 days even before my arrival, so once I arrived, I was told that I had to pay for my vacation stay in cash! :-O The problem was I don't carry cash like that, and if I wanted to, I would've been prepared with a heads-up. The manager stated that I could find another hotel, then ~ RUDE! I let him know that I would pay once I left back out (it was close to midnight) and he wanted to hold my passport or Driver's License as collateral ~ NOT! I gave him a work I.D. instead. I went online and paid through Expedia for my entire stay, as I wasn't comfortable going to obtain cash like that to pay for a 5-night stay. The machines never were working during my stay, so it seems like they were out for at least 9 days. BAD BUSINESS not giving customers a heads-up!!!!
The room is almost exactly as pictured minus the rug; It was very clean, but upon asking for clean towels, we rarely got them when needed, and the cups in the cupboard were dirty with stains on them. The shower was hit or miss with hot water and drained very slowly. The breakfast was great ~ hot, plentiful, and good!
The location was about an 8 min taxi ride from 5th Avenue, but hard to find for many taxi cab drivers. Nothing was nearby and taxis had to be ordered from the hotel staff.
Overall rating ~ 6/10
- Giulio (10/5): - Location near highway, close to everything.
- Robert (2/5): No! - No towels
No channel remote
Very noisy highway noise
- Giulio (10/5): - Location, easy access, near highway, quiet, and more.
- Victor (6/5): - What I like was the location and very quiet room.
Cons, needs new furniture and mattress.
- Sam (2/5): - ruined my night. left me on the streets of mexico alone without a place to stay.
- Brian (10/5): - Great place to stay. I loved that the room had a kitchen, desk. And lots of counter space and storage space. The only complaint i have is there's nowhere to hang the giant shower towels they give you. Not a big deal at all though.
- Edgar (10/5): Nice stay - Very nice suites . Always friendly staff and with grate service. I traveled with my grandmother and she was happy with how easy it was for her to get around. My family and I will stay here next time we visit playacar.
- Christin (4/5): - There were dozens of small problems that resulted in me really not enjoying my stay anymore. I think you can summarize it all with a lack of care for the guest.
Not enough towels, dirty towels, forgetting requests, not staffing the reception, not speaking English well, dirty floors in the room, bad communication when elevator was not working, blocked toilets, locked safe, dirty gym...
Each single thing wouldn't be an issue, but all together it made me very disappointed.
It could have been a great 16-day stay, but just hoped for it to be over by the end.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I had to keep asking for towels and coffee.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Abel (10/5): Fast In&out Hotel for road trips. - Friendly staff and awesome breakfast the ladies in the kitchen get down!
- Yesica (8/5): - Cry local to everything
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bathroom shower smells very bad, specific the drains pipe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We love this hotel, very clean, with kitchen, location was great with the best customer service
- Matt (8/5): Nice place. - Nice facilities. Reception staff a bit unfriendly and unhelpful, oddly enough.
- Gricelda (10/5): Highly recommended - So clean, so beautiful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel for the price we paid. Very welcoming staff, great COVID-19 standards and cleanliness throughout hotel. Breakfast is also included which is nice.
- Chelsea (6/5): Okay experience - I loved the layout of the room and it was clean and nice. The internet did not work however and that was super frustrating.
I also found their selection of “breakfast items” to be sub par
- Lakeysha (8/5): Good job - It was a great location to visit the tourist sites and not be in the midst of it all. The hotel also offered bikes to rent for an affordable price.
- Malena0909 (6/5): Could do better for evacuees - I ended up here because beachfront hotels were being evacuated due to Delta. While staff were nice, I'm disappointed the hotel didn't provide lunch or bring in pizzas. Come on. They made a killing with guests leaving both beachfront hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. The ice machine didn't work. I had to go to the City Express Suites next door twice to get ice. There are no mini fridges in the rooms. They did provide breakfast and the coffee is decent. But I'm pescatarian and the scrambled eggs had ham and the refried beans were made with lard. There was nowhere to eat after the hurricane hit. This is where the hotel should have arranged to feed us evacuees besides breakfast. There were no chambermaids today and that's totally understandable. Reception called offering an apology for not having had housekeepers and asking if I needed anything like towels, etc. That was nice. I had a problem with the pork-laden eggs and beans and with the lack of empathy toward guests who were scrambling to find food. The hotel is simple but beds are comfortable. They had a sanitizing gel as part of your provided toiletries. They have a desk, a flat-screen TV, hangers and two bottles of water for sale in the room. Windows are strong as I rarely heard the wind from Hurricane Delta. When you come in the first time, they take your temperature and give you hand gel. The check in process was slow when I got here on Tuesday, Oct. 6. There was a line of folks checking in. In general, this is a no frills clean hotel that needs to enhance their customer service when it comes to lodging many folks evacuating.
- Mark (8/5): Big bang for the buck/peso - This hotel worked well with my Medical Vacation to have dental work done with nearby Sani Dental Group who are fantastic. Your room card gets you into the nearby entrance to PlayaCar a large gaited community that is super safe and best way to walk to the beach/ ferry to Cozumel (about a mile walk). Your are also walking distance to a large shopping center. I especially liked that the rooms have a blender and citrus juice squeezer to make your own Margaritas. bring cork screw, sharp kitchen knife, face cloth, dish soap, margarita salt, Contreau (not easily found). there is apartment size refrigerator, microwave two burner range toaster and dishwasher which are really appreciated. Breakfast is more than ok and their coffee machine makes amazingly delicious cafe con leche and you can add an espresso shot! So a good time can be had by all!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The photos make the property look like its brand new, but it's showing its age in certain areas. The room was nice and clean, but the bed was a bit hard. The shower has low pressure and no hot water in the sink.
- BayernTrips (4/5): Loud and not so clean - Checking in late in the evening, I was given a room right next to the Elevator on the first floor. The walls here are paper thin and I could hear the poor fellow next to me coughing all night long. Every time the elevator was used, it would “Ding” loudly at each floor. When I pulled back the bed covers to get into bed, the blanket had the unmistakeable smell of body oder - then it was game over. Staff was very nice and breakfast was OK, but I could wait to leave
- asl825 (8/5): Friendly Staff - Very accommodating to non-Spanish speakers. Friendly, caring service. Nice pool. Very nice breakfast included. Only drawback was a mildew smell in the shower, but cleaning staff were excellent. Very nice restaurant next door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and good value for money ,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, large suites, convenient to main highway.
Great pool and buffet breakfast.
I was surprised that nobody spoke English, and had resistance to understanding my limited Spanish. Staff was kind, but not helpful at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very courteous staff and helpful. It’s well located and a clean place to spend the night
- Louis (10/5): - Great overall
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Room's design and color combination looks very professional and modern. I would definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - everything was grate, employee's very, very helpful down to earth :)
clean facility's, breakfast for the price of hotel was ok, cant expect more :)
best part was the price compare to other hotels nearby
- gabe_alva (4/5): HIGH NOISE LEVELS! - Plus side:
1. The place is inexpensive and relatively clean.
Downsides:
1. The floors are paper thin and amplify every minute sound made by guests on the floor above. Was awakened at 5:30 a.m. by guests in the room upstairs moving chairs and chatting. I’m not a light sleeper so it’s a legitimate problem. If you’re planning on getting a good night’s rest I suggest lodging somewhere else.
2. The room came with no towels. The cleaning lady said they didn’t have enough to supply all rooms 😳! I called reception and eventually got two towels, but no floor mat.
3. The cleaning agent they use has a very strong chemical scent. It permeates the entire hotel. The windows do not open so there is no way to ventilate the room with fresh air.
- Kty (10/5): - Everything excellent, i recomended. .................
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at City Express Suites PDC very much! The hotel staff was wonderful, all very friendly and helpful. The hotel very clean and the room with the kitchenette very functional. Breakfast was great too: different kinds of scrambled eggs every day, refried beans, stuff to make 'chilaquiles' a very traditional Mexican dish eaten for breakfast, fresh fruit, fresh made orange juice, milk, cereal, yogurt, granola, coffee, cold meats (ham), cheese & pastries, The pool area is also nice if you want to cool off for a bit. We had a rental vehicle and getting to places from the hotel was very easy as it sits right off the main highway (Carretera Federal) that connects PDC to many of the local attractions. We recommend the hotel and would absolutely consider staying here again.
- Jose (4/5): Fabulous rooms, shame of service and maintenance - It is a great hotel, fabulous suites but the air conditioner didn’t work in the room, every time we wanted to change temperature we have to call front desk to do it for us even when the room has its own control but it didn’t work. They told us that that’s the way it works in all the rooms, but at the next morning another employee told us that it’s not true but the owners don’t want to spend money to fix it or to spend in maintaince.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rude Receptionist - Hotel is what was expected. Receptionist called my room 3 times after 10pm insisting too many voices were reported in my room. ???
- Verified traveler (8/5): Last minute get away - Was good for the price.
- greta_gad (2/5): Not Recommended for longer staying - We are very disappointed to choose this hotel for our honeymoon. First of all, the breakfast everyday are the same (cereals, eggs, salads, bread, cheese), plates, cups, forks are disposable. Coffee are terrible. Second, We have to change the room because it was so nosy, second room as-well, children’s screaming, running at 11pm. Third, there is no fridge in the room, the ice machine doesn’t work, you need go to another hotel to take ice, in the lift the lights was broken, so it was dark inside. Also, the wife is very weak. The staff English very poor. So, I recommend to choose local-family hostel and to have nice Holiday and not choose this hotel for longer staying.
However, the room was clean, the staff was nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The floor of the bed is not clean. There is hair on the bathroom floor once we came in, didn’t care to report to the management or change room because we only stay one night here!
- Duncan (10/5): Great value for a very comfortable hotel - A great, extremely clean, comfortable property. My wife and two daughters (university students) shared a suite. We need not utilize the well stocked kitchen but it was great to have the sitting area in the room. Walking distance from 5th Avenue (20 minutes) or short taxi (5 minutes). Respectable pool and area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice! - Very nice comfortable place. Will def come back and stay here.
- Jonathan19939 (6/5): Stay - Clean establishment, 24 hour coffe machine wife enjoyed. Pillows kind of hard as well. Pool was small breakfast was ok consisted of eggs beans and fruit and bread yogurt small hotel but does the trick. A mile walk to the beach or a short taxi drive. Mattresses were a bit hard, clean establishment no complaints.
- 52phantom (6/5): City Express is basic but clean and friendly - This resort wasn't up to our expectations in that it had no king bed, and basically no amenities in the room apart from air conditioning, i.e. no fridge or cooking facilities. We made it work and the staff were delightful. Breakfast provided was more than adequate, a good start for each day.
- Alex (10/5): Perfect location - The hotel looks brand new. The staff is really nice. Large bedroom really clean. A good breakfast. The location is perfect (4 min by car from playa del
Carmen center). We really recommend this hotel.
The only negative thing is the WiFi in the bedroom, it is really poor !
- Verified traveler (10/5): Rorys stay in Playa del Carmen - I had an excellent stay in the Express Suites at Playa Del Carmen and this suite with kitch3enette exceeded my expectations. Air conditioning, plates dishes [pots and pans were adequate with a large groceries right across the highway. If the TV had had more english speaking content it would have been perfect..I highly endorse this property
- Mahefh (10/5): So clean - Very clean. Spacious rooms. Nice pool. Great breakfast.
- marco (6/5): Breakfast included was always exactly the same - The breakfast was always the same , never change menus for 9 days
- Danny (10/5): Nice hotel in the city - It was a very nice location quiet and comfortable
- Erickson (10/5): Great option x Xcaret - It was a nice surprise. Exceeded my expectations
- Mach (8/5): good for family - good options for a families and close to the xcaret parks
- KL5555 (8/5): Agreat hotel at a decent price - This is a good hotel for a decent price. Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. We originally booked another bigger flashy hotel but checked out and came here, there was some sort of chemical smell in the room and it was just too noisy and crowded. This hotel is the complete opposite and more my style, it has a more quieter and simple feel to it , Service is good and best of all its not crowded or noisy. Bonus There are a few decent places to eat right outside the hotel.
- Agustin (10/5): Great clean, cheap hotel - Great hotel, clean, locates just outside of playa del carmen and close to a super market. Free breakfast was a time saver
