Strongly recommend to book with dinner and breakfast, hotel provides a innovative Japanese style cuisine made from local ingredient.

房間整理第一天有些不完整,第二天好很多

It is quite expensive but you can to experience a ryokan with a modern twist. Shower area is on the first floor where the onsen is. One night is sufficient.

- AHMAD FAIRUZ AFIF (10/5): - Amazing ryokan. Great location. Comfortable private onsen
- Alicia (10/5): This hotel creates a relaxing atmosphere that is perfect for Yufuin - Indoor and outdoor onsen available, massage therapist can come to your hotel room, reserved breakfast and dinner available, bed is very comfortable The sink counter for the room is very low, I wanted to see the scenery from my window but the glass is totally frosted and it did not open

- Maria (10/5): The best ryokan I have ever been in Japan! By far - I loved everything about this hotel and so happy I booked it.
Personal very friendly, very talented cook. A nice hug in the bar showed me the root for a nice path without tourists.
Modern atmosphere and renovated. Huge room and extremely nice new big onsen with two baths each inside and outside. Three onsens and al private but you will always find a spot when it’s free, no stress.
Beautiful design. The reason to come again to Yufuin Nothing

- Orinstein (10/5): We loved our stay at Enokiya and felt our 2 nights with a tour plus 4 more on our own were amazing! - Standouts about the property for me were the super friendly and helpful staff, especially the young lady that works the front desk…plus serves food during dinner; and the delicious food served at breakfast and the special dinners. The room was like a studio apartment! Staff could have worn name tags so we could mention them by name.

- Yamashiro (8/5): -
- Makiko (8/5): Enjoy modern amenities with hints of Japanese tradition in the heart of Yufuin. - The perfect balance of modern convenience and traditional Japan. The facility is modern and minimalist, with Japanese architectural and design elements that remind you of the historic surroundings. The bed was a little hard for my preference. The frosting on the window on the "Mountain view" side almost completely obscured the view. I would suggest the River view for future travelers.
- TING HSIN (10/5):
- Angela (9/5): Superb - The warm and pretty decor of the room. Love the ryokan with both a touch of the modern and traditional. The great location of the ryokan was most definitely a winner. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. A room for three, with 2 single beds and a futon was the same room size as a room for 2, but the price for the room was double that of the room for 2. That wasn't very rightly priced.
- RosannaR641 (10/5): Love love love love this place - Amazing property, so modern and funky yet still retaining old world charm. 3 onsen choices. Close to the main attractions of the town. Part of a tour, stayed only one night though wished we were staying here longer. Clean and sparkling. Clothing items to wear in house gorgeous.
- Sanhanat (8/5): Very good - The private onsen was really good. The staff were all nice. The toilet smells a bit.
- Lucy (10/5): The Enokiya Ryokan is pristine, hip, comfortable, friendly, beautiful, and the food is amazing! - I think the Enokiya Ryokan is the best hotel on this earth in my professional opinion... In all seriousness, the staff goes above and beyond to accommodate my needs. The place itself is beautiful. The Onsen's are pristine and lovely. The breakfast is amazing! The location is central and convenient. I will be back again and again. Thank you Enokiya and your wonderful staff! Nothing this is my favorite place.
- Tak (7/5): Nice view and food - The environment and overall design and decoration of the property is comfortable and nice.
The dinner and breakfast are well served and most appropriated. It is a property use shared bathroom. But l cannot find any spared bathroom other than the one inside the hot bath. There are only 3 hot baths in the property and need to wait until other people finished using the hot bath. If the person staying in the property are not couples, they need to wait even longer until they can have a quick shower.
Location is a bit far from train station and better for people driving or approaching by taxi.
- Chao (9/5): Adquate. - Family style breakfast, recently renovated with spacious room The staffs were fine, except for one gentleman who seemed less willing to help. Was depressed to see trash left over from the previous user in the private hot spring.
- Vansie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are huge and well lit. They have a lot of amenities, like books or tea/coffee. Good lighting. Staff speaks great English and was very helpful.
Private onsen were great Beds too hard. I know that Japanese like hard mattresses, but this one was not comfortable
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful onsen experience set in a quaint Japanese village - What a great find! A “traditional” ryokan onsen experience in a modern building. Love the spacious room with western beds and a raised platform futon/seating area with large windows overlooking the river! There’s attached toilet with sink but no shower/bath in the room but we love showering in the onsen. There are 3 onsen rooms (2 with outdoor pool). First come first serve. Tablet in the room will let you know when they’re occupied/available. You lock the door to the onsen room so essentially you have your private onsen experienced!!! The Japanese buffet breakfast is excellent and substantial. Love the dining room- there’s a loft area as well. If you love the onsen experience, you’ll love Enokiya Ryokan. And the front desk staff are super nice!!! Note: they didn’t offer half board on the days we stayed. I’d recommend doing the half board because trying to find dinner in Yufuin can be difficult. Always ask front desk to call to make dinner reservations for you… They didn’t offer half board on the days we stayed. - Chee (9/5): Superb -
- Gil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hill (10/5): Excellent service and experience, highly recommend. - The staff were exceptional, friendly and very helpful. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and to assist in any way they could.
A special thank you to the chef of the Pub/Restaurant who cooked a superb meal for us when we did not have a booking, and to the staff who assisted and translated for us. It was one of the best meals we had in Japan and a fantastic experience. Thank you all very much.
The location is excellent with views of the mountains and river, and car parking on site. It is very close to the beautiful shops which were fun to explore.
The Onsen's were great and very clean, with indoor and outdoor options.
We would love to return!
- Alice (7/5): Good -
- Suk (10/5): Leisurely and enjoyable. - Great river view and excellent service.
The food was great too.
- 珮文 (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location and nice service No
- Chun (10/5): Great deal - Spacious room with modern design
- Shern-wei (4/5): Disappointing -
- Fang-tzu (10/5): Lovely Ryokan - Exactly as the picture, whole Ryokan has good interior design. Very comfortable and spacious. Really enjoyed private Onsen located at ground level, home made breakfast was delicious. Next street is shopping street full of nice souvenirs and food. highly recommend this accomodation!
- Vanessa (10/5): Amazing rooms. very large. - Location. Large room. Private ONSEN. Beds were far too hard!
- Ah (1/5): Bad - Cannot shower in the room. Front desk staff not so kind.
- Mark (10/5): Perfect 3 night stay in Yufuin - Friendly staff, exceptional rooms-contemporary ryokan, great food and bar service, great location, nice private onsen rooms and next door to a classic public onsen Nothing
- Alessandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- See (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally big and beautifully appointed room
Excellent English speaking staff who recommended an excellent place for dinner. Windows can’t be fully opened
Private onsen is nice but can’t be hassle
- Wanatthaya (9/5): Nice ryokan near floral village - Staff are very nice, helpful and friendly.
Private onsen is clean and spacious.
The location is not far from the sightseeing spots like floral village or Kinrin lake. It would be great if the power outlet in the room is a universal outlet.
- Julie (10/5): Contemporary Japanese with brilliant staff and location. - What a delight to be staying here. The rooms are spacious, the view and light comforting and the location is perfect. The whole hotel has a contemporary clear thinking and fun approach, supported by thoughtful staff.
The meals were a beautiful selection of Japanese foods, all prepared to an excellent standard.
- Chris (10/5): Awesome and very happy - location, comfort, cleanliness
- Owen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nuttawan (7/5): Would surely recommend this hotel to others - Great NO private bathroom in the room
- Theerada (9/5): Superb -
- Tony (10/5): Good accommodation. - Good location, close to the main business street and face to a river. Brand new building, the modern lobby perfect joined a Japanese heritage building with the restaurant, modern and quiet Japanese style bed rooms.
I would like to recommend the one stay with two meals plan. The dinner was amazing.
The Kindly staff can speak good English. Only three hot spring bath rooms are available and there aren’t any in-room showers but toilets. A little bit inconvenient with hot spring lovers.
- Sudawadee (10/5): Recommend to stay - Nice hotel .New facility. Nice staff None
- LamN_12 (6/5): More a hotel than a traditional ryokan - Yufuin was a small rural village until about 50 years ago, when two real estate developers, seeing the potential represented by the beautiful Mt. Yufudake and the hot springs, turned it into a spa town. Coming with that wave, Enokiya is thus more a hotel equipped with an onsen and dressed up as a ryokan (tatami floor, futon beds, etc), rather than a historical one with a ryokan tradition. The positives: good location close to train station and main shopping street; very large rooms (albeit a bit aged and lacking charm); fast and free WiFi; and above all, a superb service staff (especially the receptionists; the meal attendants are largely absent and forgetful). The negatives: the onsen bath!! When we visited, the men's outdoor bath was burning hot (>50 deg) one day, and both outdoor and indoor baths were just tepid the next day; the ladies' baths were lukewarm throughout the stay. The baths are also small for the size of the place. Meals are OK, although they look better than they taste.
- xueyun (10/5): Best service - Enokiya Ryokan is located in the middle of the shopping street & 10min's walk from the train station.
I wanted to also express my thanks for the nice & friendly boss who drove me to the train station as I was running late for the train after heading back to search for my reserved seat tickets. Will definitely stay here again if I come back to Yufuin!
- p0wk (8/5): Big room, good location, good food, ok onsen - The hotel is located very close to the main street of Yufuin, where you can walk mere steps to shop around, yet on the area next to the stream, where you can walk around and enjoy some peace.
The onsen is not impressive, there is both indoor and outdoor tubs, but it feels a bit neglected.
The food is izakaya style, and is very good for sharing with a big group.
The staffs are very friendly and helpful though!!!
- LinusLee (8/5): Nice ryokan at reasonable rate - We ran into Japanese long weekend holidays and had problem booking a room in Yufuin. Enoki ha Ryokan was one of the few we could choose from. It is a 15 min walk from the train station. It's rather tiring lugging our 25 inch trolley bag along the small street. The ryokan is located along the river and away from the main street lines with shops, so it is quiet and comfy. The lake is only 7 min walk away.
Our room was on the 3rd level which is top floor but there is no lift. The staff brought our luggage up but when checked out, we got to carry them down ourselves.
We booked a Japanese style room with tatami and mattress on the floor. The room came with a basin and a toilet. For shower, it's shared on the first level with public onsen. There is a private one too, for those who are embarrassed to shower with strangers around.
Breakfast was oiishi, provided you don't mind having rice in the morning. Small delicate dishes, free flow of rice, miso soup, and an onsen egg... We regretted not having dinner at the ryokan as we reckoned it will be a feast!
- SuvimonS (6/5): A Peaceful Place in Yufuin - I had several criteria when I was choosing my accommodation in Yufuin:
1) Location- It has to be within reasonable walking distance from JR Yufuin station.
2) Price - Since I was by myself (not with a friend, or someone to share the cost with), I set the budget to be no more than $ 100 per night.
3) Onsen - I wanted a place with a private onsen that I can enjoy.
Enokiya Ryokan meets all of my requirements, so I decided to stay there for one night.
I arrived at the ryokan around 12 PM. The staff was flexible enough to let me check in and and have my room right away, which is pretty rare for any Japanese hotel or ryokan, since they are usually pretty strict about check-in time. It was nice to settle in a bit before I go out for lunch. The staff spoke enough English to communicate with guests, and there is even a ryokan & onsen guideline in English/Chinese/Korean, which I think can be very helpful for newcomers. (I have stayed at several ryokans with onsens - so I know the etiquette, but I still appreciate their attention to details)
My room was quite spacious. It was on the second floor, with a view of the stream that flows through the town. I booked a room with a toilet and sink because I wanted the convenience.
I found the onsen to be a bit disappointing because a) the private bath was way too hot to even have a foot bath and b) the private one was inside and had no view. Consequently, I ended up in the women's onsen, which had an outdoor part and reasonable water temperature, but still the view was not impressive.
Unfortunately, this place didn't offer a half-board package (or maybe it was during the low season) -so I went out looking for a place to have dinner. However, nothing was open and I came back to the ryokan assuming that at least their bar would be open, but it wasn't. They said it was closed, but I didn't understand if it was for the day or for the season. I had to go out again on a food find when it was already dark (and small towns have dimly lit streets), which was ok for me since I feel safe, but I had to carry a torch with me! Luckily, I stumbled upon a nice place where I could enjoy a shabu shabu set dinner.
Their breakfast is traditional Japanese style, and you can choose between 8:00 and 8:20 AM. It you have diet restrictions, it might not be ideal for you to have breakfast at the ryokan.
The onsen and the ryokan may not be top-notch, but it served my purpose of having a quiet getaway in a small town thanks to the location being off the main road.
- libove (4/5): Bad baths, average food - My wife is native Japanese, and we are regular Onsen travelers. We cannot recommend Enokiya Ryokan.
The baths are bad - small, not nice, limited views. The family/private bath water was 50+°C - we could not even touch it (and we like water hotter than most people).
The food was just average.
The building is modern and the room comfortable, and the staff was good, so if all you need is an overnight place to sleep quietly, it's okay, but it's not a good Onsen experience.
