- Dean (8/5): Off season visit to Ely and stayed at this comfortable lodge with conference center. - Great location to access town and local sights Rustic style of room perhaps needed a bit spiffing up. However nice view to lake and we had a glass door out to ground level which was pleasant .
- Sandra (10/5): -
- Craig (9/5): -
- Paul (7/5): Quite nice - Kind of expensive
- Jane (8/5): We drive up to Ely to see roccasionally from southern Minnesota and will be sure to stay at - The breakfast was wonderful. The food was delicious, and was served promptly by friendly and efficient staff. The pizza we ordered for the room was good for a frozen pizza. We got the sausage and pepperoni with extra cheese. We were hoping it would be delivered, but going down to pick it up at the front desk of the restaurant worked out OK. We asked for a 2nd easy chair for the room, and the arrangements were made willingly, which we really appreciated. We also loved the mattress and bedding. A bigger TV would have been nice.
- Joan (10/5): Very relaxing to stay at. - Great!
- Amy (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay as the setting was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and it was quiet. - The breakfast was decent. It was convenient to go to the restaurant in the morning. However, we wanted to order a late night snack around 9 PM and the kitchen was closed.
- Samuel (8/5): Beautiful and comfortable - Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and comfortable room
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Garry (9/5): -
- Richard (6/5): OK - The breakfast was good, the eating meal was not good.
The location was good. Get new beds.
- Mattson (9/5): Very comfortable stay with excellent food and service. - The bed and restaurant.
- Eric (10/5): -
- Brittany (9/5): - Beautiful location and scenery
- Theresa (10/5): - Clean room with a comfy bed. Beautiful view of the lake. The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and prices were very reasonable.
- Mike (9/5): -
- Charles (9/5): Enjoyed and will remember - Ambience Check in time. 4:00pm. Should be earlier
- Doris (9/5): Very comfortable, would recommend. - The bed was like sleeping on a cloud of comfort. The on-site restaurant had great food at reasonable prices. They were very busy because of a marathon being held in town that week, but the staff was still warm and friendly.
- Michael (6/5): -
- Richard (9/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): - Nice view of the lake. Wish they had a pathway to the
Lake.
- ryan (8/5): - all around nice property. bathrooms could have been slightly cleaner.

- Michelle (10/5): If we're back in Ely, we will stay at the lodge again! - Service was wonderful. Best place to eat, any meal.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krystle (9/5): Superb - It was good Nothing
- Mary (9/5): I would go back in a heartbeat! - Location was wonderful. Great view of the lake. At first, we were told we’d have to move rooms for our 2 night stay. They got it sorted out, so it ended up just fine.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Incredible stay. Staff is so friendly, food is great
- Griffin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (8/5): - Nice restaurant on site, nice pool and sauna plus small
Pool for small kids. Semi warm.
- John (10/5): This is a wonderful place to stay at Ely's "End of the Road." - Great place to stay in Ely! Windows opened to fresh air and there was a derelict mine across the road that we could tour. Nothing!
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- KIM (8/5): - Everyone was so friendly. Beds were comfortable and a view of the kake was nice.
- Kristin (7/5): Mostly great - It is an absolutely gorgeous property… The rooms are fantastic and the staff was wonderful. We did book the resort specifically to be able to use the boats and nowhere on the website when I booked it or recently did it say there were no boats available. To be perfectly honest, that was really really disappointing.
- Beriou (10/5): Exceptional -
- creighanna (10/5): - It was just beautiful! Clean , vey close to town absolutely wonderful food! Even my children 7 and 4 kept saying how good the food was! Great service.
We drove 5 hours to stay the weekend and we definitely will make our way back again!!
- Jerry (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (6/5): Warm rooms, dog friendly, some things not as advertised. - The location was amazing- right between 2 lakes. The dog friendly room we stayed in had a direct door to a big outside area- so convenient! They let us know in advance that the pool was closed. Sadly we out on arrival that the fitness center was closed, and would have changed our travel plans if we had known this ahead of time. The sauna was also closed. They did not offer any compensation for the closures and suggested that we go eat in the restaurant instead “because that and the lounge are open”. Pretty rinky-dink.
- Dan (10/5): - Good food.
- Tammy (9/5): Outstanding service! - "Minnesota Nice" is real! =) We had questions for the front desk, several meals at the restaurant and all staff we encountered were great! They truly stood out for their level of service. The beds were comfortable, the swimming pool and the game room were a hit with the children. And the views from our room were lovely! I wouldn't say I didn't like it but the bathroom could use a bit of updating. Nothing major and it wouldn't deter us from staying again.
- Laurel (10/5): - Very nice, very comfortable, love the art in the rooms and the view.
- Joshua (8/5): Nice stay in Ely - We had a wonderful time in Ely and enjoyed our stay at the Grand Ely Lodge. A pretty lively hotel even in the dead of winter, with a decent restaurant, friendly staff, and nice location close to town. The rooms was large and comfortable. Internet was fast and cable TV was extensive. Plenty of parking. Would stay here again during our next trip to Ely.
- Tyler (10/5): - Highly recommend this hotel; a bit pricey but the customer services was top notch
- Elizabeth (10/5): - We took our Girl Scout troop to this hotel when we were in Ely in July and the hotel was perfect for our group. We had so much fun. Thank you for a lovely stay!
- Ole (10/5): Great room...warm and cozy. - Everything.....warm and cozy. Bed was great. Very comfortable. Great food in restaurant. A little pricey, I just stayed in a jacuzzi suite prior night for less.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (10/5): Peaceful. Helpful and responsive staff - Clean, quiet, courteous N/a
- Greg (10/5): Fantastic stay -
- Carl (10/5): - It was just a great place to stay
- Jacinta (10/5): The staff was very kind and very helpful. The stay was great! - The property looked out a lake. There was also a great hiking path right across the street from the lodge.
- Blake (10/5): Like reconnecting with nature - It was beautiful and everyone that worked there was super nice Not a thing
- Joe (7/5): Standard overpriced hotel in tourist-dependent area. Bring your own entertainment in the off season. - The lodge is effectively located on the shore of two lakes so it's great that it is so close to both. It's also ideally located to go around Miner's Lake. Parking was just sufficient. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and not crowded. I was able to play ping pong in a rec room on the 3rd level. It's a nice hotel to stay at to go and do other things, not quite the "destination" I was hoping it would be. Beds were of excellent quality and internet connectivity was good. Breakfast was not included, not even a discounted brunch. There was no value added for the "resort fee," as there is next to nothing offered by the lodge in the off season. It's a standard tourist trap feel, an overpriced room with overpriced Ely Lodge merchandise greeting you every time you pass through the lobby. Huge boxes of branded hoodies and so forth just stacked outside the front desk. Meals at the restaurant are better than average quality with some interesting menu items, but no real "specialty" like steak, lake fish, seafood, locally sourced, or vegetarian. Zero imagination. Someone running a B&B here could make a killing undercutting the rates.
We stayed during a teacher's convention weekend, so there were some kids about, including three under-18s in our large party. Some idiot parents completely checked out and ignored their pre-teen kids, letting them run rampant throughout the hotel. This made the carpeted subfloor hallway floors sound like a stampede outside our door for a couple of hours every evening and the hotel staff were unwilling to hold these guests accountable. So don't count on peace and quiet.
- Deepa (10/5): Lively and popular place to stay - The lodge was right beside a historic mine and in between 2 lakes, which makes it a little island. The view from our window was amazing. We could literally walk to town. Less than a mile away.
My mother got sick while eating dinner at the restaurant. The staff immediately came to our help, they got a bucket, some ice and towels. They even offered to call the EMS. Housekeeping staff did not come for cleaning, we can understand because they said they were understaffed. But I did eye housekeeping carts on the floors. Since it was a long weekend, there was a lot of hustle and bustle about the lobby, bar and restaurant area
- VALERIE (6/5): - Bed was average; dinner of the highly recommended roast beef and walleye were both tasteless, as was the wild rice - bland and overcooked.
- Judith (10/5): It was wonderful👍 - Food great view of Shagawa Lake spectacular‼️ We tried playing table tennis and lighting was a bit dim at first but got better. So much fun😃
- Lawrence (10/5): Excellent. Highly recommended. - The restaurant had great food. Restaurant staff was excellent. They called us in our room when a table was available. That’s great service. And, the walleye dinner was the best I’ve had. No complaints
- Lynn (7/5): Good - Breakfast was good, we really wanted to have dinner there but weren’t able to get in The bed and pillows were not comfortable for us
- Camillla (5/5): Passable -
- Pat (9/5): We picked this hotel because it was close to the wedding for family. - Service was awesome, but they seemed understaffed for the amount of people.
Food was great, grandsons loved it. No room service or much available to eat after a certain period. No food in vending only drinks.
- Kathyn (10/5): - Great food. Great service. Very clean.
- Darin (9/5): Perfect place to recover after a long voyage in the BWCA. - The hot tub after many days hiking and paddling was perfect, and the pool room was quiet and not busy. Having the bar on-premises for a nightcap was also handy. The restaurant and bar were very busy, hard to get into without reservation.
- bradley (10/5): - Nice place
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Serfling (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerald (10/5): Excellent - Clean/friendly
- Kathleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlson (9/5): We enjoyed our stay. - The meals were O.K., but not outstanding. The people were excellent, except for one person who was just O.K. The location was very nice views and was quiet other than the dining rooms were noisy, but people were close together.
- Bryan (10/5): - Hotel was well kept and comfortable. Rooms were nice and clean. Property was gorgeous with activities to do. Pool was a hit and restaurant options were good too.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (10/5): - Great resort!
- Michael (10/5): - Nice location. Great decor.
Excellent views out the lakeside rooms.
Call for dinner reservations early.
- Peter (8/5): The stay was plesant, accomidations were good, A little pricy but given their short season acceptabl - We did not eat there, We left before it was open The housekeeping was not quite up to par. They left us with one small bar of soap for 3 days. We did have shampoo and conditioner. Did not empty the coffee pot, and did not replace some of the coffee supplies. Not quite the attention to detail that I am accustomed to. But the room was clean and well kept/
- Cary (8/5): - Excellent. Great people, friendly staff throughout the hotel and restaurant.
- Hill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): Good Spot - I've stayed here quite a few times. It's consistently the best place to stay in Ely. Closest thing to a decent hotel in the area.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Dustin (8/5): Very good -
- Alayon (9/5): Superb -
- Valarie (8/5): Ely getaway - Very beautiful scenery from the hotel! Very friendly staff! A little outdated and in need of repairs. Counter around sink was cracked and outdated carpeting! Beds were very comfortable!!! Restaurant was good and convenient!
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): - Everything under one roof. Restaurant, bar, pool, hot tub, lodging. Awesome customer service. Beautiful views. The food was excellent.

- Ryan (10/5): Great place will definitely be back - Kids eat free at there facility No negatives
- Leif (7/5): Kids ruin pools - We enjoyed the lounge and the swimming pool area. Our server who admitted to us that she had drunk before work was a bit obnoxious. And I did not care for the 12 kids while I was trying to relax in the pool area.
- Mary (10/5): beautiful lakefront location - no breakfast breakfast
- Donna (10/5): - It was nice. A few to many kids in the hot tub but all over good tine
