Guest Reviews
- Gail (8/5): A wonderful visit to Little Big Horn! - The Lariat exceed our expectations. We were visiting the Little Big Horn National Park and it was very convenient. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The manager was very responsive to our questions and needs. Twice we ate at the restaurant next door, and were very pleased with their food and their service too.

- Teresa (10/5): I would stay here again and again. - It was the cutest and owners so nice.
- Cody (9/5): Older motel but nicely reno'ed and very clean. Owner/manager very accomodating. -
- William (10/5): Highly recommended! I have traveled a lot,so I do not say this lightly, this motel is a gem. Definitely ask for their ad - Clean, comfortable and tremendous value.
- Zeki (7/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): - Very friendly! Can tell they take pride in their motel.
- Donovan (9/5): - Mid century motel with modern conveniences. Within walking distance of several local, good restaurants. Gricery and laundry nearby. Easy, short drive to The Little Bighorn Battlefield Memorial. Privately owned. Owners were wonderful. Shower in our room was small, bathroom a little dark.
- Karen (9/5): - Owner was very friendly and helpfull and went out of her way to make our stay pleasant.
- Paul (10/5): We had a wonderful stay! - The owner was on property and so helpful!
- Katharine (10/5): - We liked the friendly people, clean & neat conditions and the comfortable bed. It was a very pleasant stay.
- Michelle (8/5): We arrived on a Thursday, that night they have a guy come and sing and play. Church style. Nice guy. - The motel is an older style, great atmosphere though. Was good for what we needed, away from the noise of the main streets. The owner was helpful with any questions we had. The only thing would be it had no washing machine facility's. We found a laundromat a 10 minute drive away.
- John R (10/5): Nice Stay. - The room was on the cozy side, but very comfortable. I slept like a rock. I was late getting there, but they called and let me know where my key would be (there was a gap in overnight coverage), and it was right where they said it was. My only other concern was that you really have to make sure your door is closed. The rooms still use old school keys. Overall, a very positive experience and I would stay again.
- John (10/5): Delightful family owned inn. - Great family owned and operated property. Quiet and comfortable with nice places to sit outside. It was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): You should stay here..... - I stayed at the Lariat Motel for two nights. The room was so comfortable and clean. It was furnished with a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, electric tea pot (coffee and tea provided), complimentary bath products, nice television and wifi. In addition to a great room, the outside is gorgeous with flowers, benches and a fenced courtyard. Then when you think it can't get better, the owners are so nice. It was a great place to stay and I would prefer the Lariat Motel over a big chain any day!! Stay there - you won't be sorry!
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Peter (9/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): Good location, standard motel. - Good location, basic, clean motel. No frills. It was ok, that's all
- nancy (8/5): - Very nice vintage motel, very clean. The bed was so comfy, actually one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.
- Michelle (10/5): Great place for a overnight stay, just passing thru - Clean and comfortable
- Michelle (9/5): Nice clean quiet overnight stay for a group of us passing thru. - Nice and clean , owner friendly and helpful.
- Cara (10/5): - Good little property, well taken care of, comfortable room. Ice machine wasn’t working, so take ice.
- Leah (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.
- John (10/5): - Very clean and well kept property that was nicer than most chain hotels.
- Will (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Old girls on Motorcycles. - I like the older updated roadside motels of the bygone days and this one is top notch
No it is not fancy, but it is well done and very comfortable, seating outside the room, a nice seating area with plants and seating with tables. Parking in front of your door.
The rooms are well stocked, neat and clean.
Thank you it was a perfect stop for 4 old gals traveling cross country on motorcycles. Nothing we didn't like.
- Mike (7/5): Good place for overnight and would stay there again - For the cost and convenience, it’s a good place to stay. Clean and no issues whatsoever. It’s an older motel with plenty of parking, even in front of the room door. WiFi works fine and the staff are pleasant and friendly.
- Ronald (7/5): Good -
- Jon (10/5): - The fact that they did not allow dogs. was the main reason we stayed. Any hotel / motel that allowed's this practice has rocks in there head. The place was quiet, super clean, everything was just perfect.
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (10/5): Enjoy - Fun to stay in a motel! It was very clean and well maintained.
- Angela (10/5): - loved this motel, immaculatey clean with great facilities including a kettle for us tea jennies! Lication is great with restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The team at the hotel were juat lovely and friendly. Lots of parking space too :0)
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nerijus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Great owner and manager of the motel - The owner of the hotel had a problem with the hot water heater , which he was unable to fix as it was late on Saturday , so he said we could still stay vs closing the motel until he could fix it on Sunday , however he refused to take payment. This is the best attitude I have ever seen in a Motel anywhere in the world. Will recommend this to anyone
- Bschleifer (9/5): Very pleasant motel experience in a small SE Montana town. - We were charmed by the outgoing owner/manager who was fun to chat with. The room had style; I was delighted with the quilted bedspread and flower arrangements around the facility. No scones (as mentioned in the reviews) available (since we were out of season) but there was good coffee service in the room and fast food breakfasts very close. All in all we were very pleased having chosen this locally owned motel over the usual hotel chains.
- James (10/5): The Lariat is a nice comfortable and homey motel. When we visit The area again we will stay here ! - Very clean, well maintained, cute… close to Custer battlefield… 12 miles. That was the reason we stayed here… going to the battlefield… it’s a perfect home base for visiting there. it’s in walking distance to several restaurants, and shopping. The managers… Amy and Waylon were fantastic! Friendly, responsive to our needs, and knowledgeable about the town of Hardin and other attractions in the area. Great Neon sign! We liked every thing about the property. Don’t forget to visit the battlefield trading post and the local historical museum… both are great with friendly staff.
- Michael (10/5): - Not your usual big chain motel that all look the same with walls made of cardboard. Very friendly staff. Kind of a throwback Western theme to the room, very clean with comfortable beds. I would stay here again if I was in Hardin.
- Don (10/5): Great family business. Great service - Super friendly owner operators. Made the whole process easy and simple.
- Michael (10/5): Nice - Nice room
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Katherine (10/5): Lariat Motel stay - We enjoyed our stay at the Lariat Motel. Check in was easy and the owners are very friendly. The outside of the retro motel is welcoming with flowers growing in window boxes. The room had a queen and a full size bed and a small fridge. Room layout was a little unusual but it worked for us. Room was very clean and toiletries provided. The bathroom door was a little squeaky. Towels were nice and soft. If you like the amenities of a chain hotel, this may not be for you. But if you want a retro, family owned motel, you might consider it.
- Darl (10/5): - Quiet well kept motel.
- Marcia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janice (10/5): - Older rooms but very well cared for and stocked. Very pleasant stay!
- Denise (4/5): We support mom and pop businesses - It’s a mom and pop shop.older motel. We support mom and pop. It was an odd set up with 2 beds. . It was an odd set up with 2 beds. A pocket door to bathroom and the you lay in bed staring into the bathroom. Dog food was on the bed and floor as we checked in.
The next door person was very noisy even with brick walls.
So up at 4:00 am . No one at the desk when we left!!!
- Janeane (10/5): Lovley quaint place - A lovley little place to stay. Doesn't look much at first but its very quaint and the people were very friendly and happy to help. Wifi was a bit hit and miss bit not the worst thing in the world.
- David (3/5): Poor -
- Becky (10/5): Gem in Hardin - The outside was very inviting. There was comfortable furniture outside to relax under a tree. I loved the arrangement of the room. Very different and refreshing. We had a double deluxe renovated room
- Karen (9/5): Nice place to stay - Location and room size WiFi didn’t work. As international travellers we rely on that being available. It was for some guests.
- Veronica (10/5): - As has been stated, it’s an older retro style motel, but has nice western looking decor. It is clean, quiet and comfortable. We appreciated the recommendation of where to eat dinner.
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Really cute place- the decor of the room was really nice (much better than the pictures on Booking.com look!) Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room door didn’t seem to lock.
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Yina (10/5): - The owners Waylon and Amy were very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. We stayed two nights a few days apart and both times were great. Spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning worked flawlessly and the complimentary scones and coffee in the mornings were divine! A wonderful little place - we'll be sure to stay here again when we're in the area!
- Nancy (9/5): Good value, friendly people, great stay - Scones were good. Beautiful flowers everywhere, wreathes on the doors were a nice touch. Room upgrades freshened up an aged row of motel rooms to a pleasant overnight. Bed head was a little downhill, bathroom small but adequate.
- Sean (9/5): Great place - Clean rooms WiFi did not work
- Amanda (10/5): - Hospitality was amazing! Building is older and rooms on the smaller side, but it had everything we needed and they take cleanliness seriously. I would definitely stay here again.
- Ruth (10/5): - Door on room popped open.
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Keith (10/5): A blast from the past - This is a old property that they are refurbishing, and doing a very nice job. Very welcoming, very friendly, and the room was nice, clean, and quiet. The scones the next morning were delightful.
- Charlene (10/5): Clean, friendly and comfy beds. - They served delicious scones and hot coffee for breakfast. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this motel. It far exceeded our expectations.
- Yvonne (6/5): - The room was small but niicely decorated. The town itself had very little to offer.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Lots of attention to details. Friendly and helpful owners. More hooks in the bathroom.
- Justin (7/5): Good - Staff very friendly,, effort put onto the look of property Price, bed was not the most comfortable
- Alicia (10/5): - Very nice hotel and staff, clean and comfortable room. Stay here, you won’t be disappointed. 🙂
- Hurd (7/5): Good - The neon sign out front. It's old and quaint. No light by my bed and it was pricey
- Margaret (9/5): Superb -
- Janice (8/5): Family owned makes it feel like home - Friendly staff gave the motel a personal touch that sets this place apart from the typical small town motel. Fresh flowers, well kept grounds & rooms, homemade morning treats and attention to details made our stay so enjoyable. Can’t think of a thing.
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bonnie (10/5): - This retro motel is a hidden gem. It is not a big cookie cutter motel. The rooms have been updated. The bed was very comfortable. It is family owned. Amy has beautiful pots of flowers out front. Waylon is from Hardin & had great recommendations.
- Xena (8/5): Very good -
- Theodore (10/5): - An old 1960’s motel but kept up well by the owner. Friendly family owns the place. Could not be more friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my stay
- Edward (10/5): Perfect - Waylon is the coolest! Morning coffee with Waylon and fellow travelers was a great start to my day. Amy’s breakfast scones are top shelf! I’ll be back to visit.
- Barbara (8/5): Very friendly, told us where to eat which was good! -
- Pam (9/5): Superb -
- Rosemarie (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful owners of this nice place.
Town doesn’t have much to do- but they made us feel really welcome
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bryan (9/5): Superb -
- Terry (8/5): - Nicely renovated old-style motel, including all-new surfaces in room and bathroom. Nice refrigerator, microwave, and TV. Unfortunately, renovation can't fix everything. Due to space limitations and layout of room TV screen was almost impossible to watch from second bed (which, by the way, was advertised as a queen but was only a full). Also, because there was no room to put a conventional door on bathroom, a sliding door had to be installed, which wouldn't have been a problem if the door had not made such a horrible screech that you couldn't open it without waking everyone in the room.
Also, the toilet seat lid was dirty upon arrival. Very nice management, and with a little work, all the problems could be solved.
- Susan (9/5): Great stay - Great hosts and lovely coffee cake (free !). Location perfect to explore Little Big Horn.
Nice cafe/dinner next door
- Christopher (9/5): Clean, tidy and Friendly with Free Parking - Really friendly owner who was really willing to please.
Old style motel that has been upgraded and is really comfortable and clean. Easy Parking
Easy walking distance to the various food outlets. Nothing
- John (10/5): - Waylon made us feel very comfortable and was also helpful in making suggestions for our evening and morning meals.
- Susan (8/5): - Very Nice older place and very clean . Cold floors winter :(
- Warren (8/5): Very nice, comfortable place with difficult WiFi. - Clean, well appointed, lots of care taken by the staff. WiFi was spotty to non-existent. I think this is a solvable configuration issue. There was a NetGear extender in the room, and networks kept popping up and disappearing. Ended up using my own hot spot.
- Patricia (8/5): - Beds were great but layout of the room was awkward and bathroom was small. Also one of the beds was a double instead of queen size. Very cute though!
- sonja (8/5): - Clean, cute but Mosquitos in the bathroom.
- Rachael (9/5): Excellent overnight motel stay on a cross-country trip -
- Linda (9/5): Special Touches - Loved the special touches, like window flower boxes on the AC units, wreaths on the doors.
- Richard (10/5): - Folksy
- Jones (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (3/5): We wouldn’t stay there again we would drive the 50 miles to Billings ! - The only we liked is that it was near Little Big Horn and we didn’t have to drive all the way to Billings and back. It was clean we will give it that . We had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs and we are in our 60’s! We didn’t feel very safe in fact it was a little scary !
- Janet (8/5): - Not the propertys fault, was the train whisle throughout the night
- Frank (6/5): - Small average rooms. No coffee pot.Small bathroom, outlet only works with light on.
- Steven (10/5): - This property was built in 1959. And it still has some of that classic 50s and 60s looks. But it is renovated to the max. I love the flowers and I love the bedspread and I love the hardwood floors and the bathroom. The water is real soft, it is just one comfortable motel to stay. I highly recommend it. My name is ThomasScimia you must stay there.
- Marc (8/5): - Cute place but lotsa flies
- Lisa (10/5): - Place is clean and staff friendly
- Satoshi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Staff very friendly and offered great suggestions on things to do in the area and places to eat - No coffee available in room or lobby until 8. We are early risers and like our coffee but otherwise we enjoyed our stay
