Guest Reviews
- Alison (10/5): Lovely traditional pub with very comfortable rooms and amazing hospitality - We chose this spot because we wanted a traditional pub experience within a good distance of Lyme House. The old inn was beautiful inside and out, with comfortable rooms and modern bathrooms.
The staff were very lovely and made us feel completely welcome and valued.
The rooms were well stocked with nice quality tea, coffee and water.
Dinner and breakfast were amazing.
I was impressed at how full the restaurant was on a Monday night with patrons not staying at the rooms. It would have been nice to go for a walk from the pub in the evening but the road was too busy, but that certainly is no fault of the Inn.
Just a minor thing was that the bedside lamps were too dim for reading.

- Paul (9/5): - A charming inn that manages to combine warmth, friendliness and professional service. Family-run, and really welcoming at evey step. Rooms are comfortable and quiet; parking is easy and convenient, and the pub itself is cosy and a great place to relax in, especially when the wood fires are going. For walkers, the inn offers easy access to the Pennine Way via a 30 minute climb to South Head. We spent three nights here and would certainly come back.
- Carole (9/5): Lovely room in a great pub serving excellent food. - Room was spacious, well furnished. Great dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. Not a big deal but the road is busy although the pub is set back so it was not noisy.
- Elizabeth (10/5): The standout was the food in the restaurant. A big shout out to the chef who clearly loves his work and it shows - Beautiful old style pub with an open fire to greet you, beams and styled beautifully which was a welcome change to the pubs that have renovated and lots their character. The staff are particularly friendly, cheery and can’t do enough to please. Beds and pillows very comfortable The room was a little close to the road but that is probably true for most pubs. It wasn’t an issue at night and the rooms are pretty well insulated for noise
- Janet (10/5): Loved every minute. Hopefully will be back! - Fantastic! Cooked fresh every morning. Lots of choice. N/A
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely country inn convenient for exploring the Peak District. - Open fires in the bar. Cosy atmosphere. Nice touches in the room: water, hot drinks, biscuits, sweets. Nothing.
- McDowell (10/5): - The Lambs Inn staff where welcoming and available to answer any questions. The Lambs Inn bar and restaurant provided excellent food options especially the lamb curry and steak burger. The accommodation was lush and offered a welcomed rest after a day spent walking the kinder scout circular and surrounding areas. Will definitely look to staying again. .
- Hester (10/5): A wonderful break in the Peaks - we will be back. - Beautiful old coaching Inn with cosy nooks and log burners. Excellent food, perfectly cooked. The ideal spot for hiking in the Peaks. The room exceeded expectations - super clean, lovely decor and nice luxury touches. Beware if you are arriving by train it can be tricky to get a taxi from Chinley. But the staff at the Lamb were very helpful with lifts!
- Trevor (9/5): - Room, shower, restaurant Bed was too soft
- Aleksandra (10/5): Cosy room & traditional pub with great access to Chinley Churn - Superb find! Cozy but spacious room with the most comfortable bed and big modern en-suite. Friendly and welcoming staff. Easy access to Chinley Churn and other walks. Lovely little traditional pub with excellent food! Wish we could have stayed longer and sampled more. Best full English we’ve had in years. Would definitely recommend it!
- Christine (10/5): Perfect in every way - A beautiful hideaway in the high peaks
Excellent hospitality stunning rooms and amazing food
Perfectly placed for the exceptional walking in the area Could not find a single fault
- Brook (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect - The location is perfect and the views from the patio through the trees is perfect. The bar and lounge area are quaint and relaxed and made the more special by the log burner Nothing
- Roydon (10/5): Fine. - Food was very good. Room was a good size. Weather could have been better, but in January can't complain!!
- Adrian (10/5): - Fantastic atmosphere, very nice room, fantastic food & service, highly recommend
- Katie (10/5): Beautiful property - very cosy and welcoming - Friendly, welcoming and lovely little things in room… chocolates, drinks, biscuits! Beautifully decorated and super comfy bed. Only thing was that breakfast didn’t start till 9 at the weekend which was really too late for me

- ANNBERLY (6/5): An unremarkable stay ! - Our room was heated well and was pleasant enough. Decent shower and clean bedding. Food was good. Service in the restaurant was good, the staff were friendly. The location was awful smack bang next to an extremely busy fast road. Our room was a very short walk from the Inn, the walkway there was slippy and uneven underfoot. The Inn offered good food, cooked nicely from a limited menu. Breakfast was good - not exceptional as had been mentioned by other guests in reviews. The Inn itself is a typical country pub nothing more. The room had a stiff, hard to lock door and an unpleasant cleaning solution smell when we first arrived. Our stay here was ok just very unremarkable in any way!

- David (10/5): Great weekend break, the real fire in the bar made it nice and cosy on a cold winters night. - Everything was as advertised. The room was comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The staff were friendly and attentive. Nothing
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional traditional pub, friendly owners, fabulous food, comfy accommodation. - Fabulously cosy and welcoming pub with a great atmosphere. I had been before a year ago and the experience was so positive I booked for longer and bought my partner.
The owners David and Fiona were welcoming and it felt warm and cosy with the log fire blazing. We stayed for dinner, a great lamb Henry and the place was buzzing, obviously a hit amongst locals. Excellent fayre and would have been well served in a top London hotel and thanks to the chef Elvis and others. Great service lots of friendly staff on hand.
Then back to our room that was well furnished and warm, weather was frosty outside and it was very clean and there was everything we needed. A lovely comfy bed so great nights sleep and a great walk in shower. There was tea and coffee which my partner needs.
Next morning we had the exceptional full English breakfast, a real hit as the contents were locally sourced and therefore top notch. Can't rate it higher but would give this an 11. I loved everything, it was above and beyond our expectations.

- Angela (10/5): Overall it was a lovely stay and would love to come back - Lovely accommodation and an amazing feel to the pub and restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. The shower tray was a bit shallow so it overflowed a bit. There was a bit of light from the front door
- Alan (10/5): One night stay. - Lovely characterful inn, with real old world atmosphere. Great food and friendly staff. Very comfortable accommodation. Little to fault. Nothing
- Theyre (10/5): - Just perfect. Fiona and Dave make guests feel so welcome. Pub and restaurant quintessentially countryside England.
- Pamela (9/5): Best choice in High Peak - Lovely historic inn. Great food and roaring fires.
- dean (9/5): Super pub great hosts - Very friendly staff, room lovely and clean, evening meals 10/10 Personal experience is pillows too soft
- David (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): - breakfast>great, Dinner>great, Room>smaller than envisaged by the photos and very dark too close to stone wall and grass bank.

- Alison (10/5): - The accommodation was exceptional. Everything is catered for. Hair dryer, straighteners, ironing board and iron even an umbrella. The staff are amazing so friendly and professional. The rooms are very spacious and the bed is so comfortable. Food was absolutely delicious we ate there both nights and the breakfast was superb. I will definitely be returning. Loved everything.
- Victoria (10/5): Beautiful setting, traditional warm welcome and fabulous food. - The location is wonderful in beautiful countryside. The welcome was warm and helpful and the room was beautifully appointed, with plenty of space. The bathroom was also spacious and excellently appointed. The room had spring fresh water available and a nespresso machine. The bar area is cosy and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. Breakfast was also fabulous. Staff were lovely. Just a great, traditional venue. As a minor picky point, we didn't find the non slip mats for the shower until after the shower, so perhaps a little heads up about that, and a larger bath towel would have been appreciated, but really minor points.
- David (8/5): Lovely pub in a beautiful setting - Hidden gem in the Peak District. Lovely spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Quilts are always too warm for us!!
- sean (9/5): -
- Tom (8/5): -
- Kate (10/5): It was lovely and perfect for the occasion of our granddaughters wedding. - staff were cheerful and efficient. nice to be greeted with a smile. Breakfast was very nice ,just what we wanted. the whole place was nice and accessible except for the cobbles but they looked lovely! there really was nothing to dislike. Everyone was friendly and pleasant. It was a bit difficult to keep the water in the shower but we managed.
- Jackie (10/5): Everything we hoped for and more - Everything really but especially the staff. It was a busy sunny August day yet every member of staff was as so friendly, attentive and professional. The room was comfortable, beautifully presented and had everything we needed. Food in the restaurant was to a very high standard and breakfast was brilliant. Nothing
- Penny (9/5): -

- James (10/5): Fantastic food in a quaint little Inn. - Stayed here 2 nights. The chef Elvis outdoes himself with Michelen star quality meals. The Crab Salad and Pork Rigatone were faultless. Best meals I have eaten in Europe. Friendly bar staff and spacious room with first class bathroom. Mattress needs replacing though.
- Daryl (10/5): - Lovely old English pub, excellent food, nice room but the bed is really soft.

All, treated like friends . Nothing...
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Nice clean and comfortable room . Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
- Christine (9/5): A perfect overnight stay location after a round of golf at Chapel en la Firth. - The Lamb Inn is a beautiful old pub, the staff were welcoming and helpful. We had two double rooms which were spacious, clean and comfortable. Our evening meals were all delicious and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The here was nothing not to like.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- M (10/5): Great little stay - Very friendly helpful staff, nice comfortable room and tasty food.
Very reasonably priced.
- Elaine (10/5): Had a great afternoon sat outside in the beer garden and had a lovely meal. Then we stayed overnight in the fantastic la - Excellent service, large clean room and fantastic food The grouting around the shower needed a little attention
- Caroline (9/5): Great place to stay in the High Peaks. - Very friendly staff. Could go on walks straight from the front door. Delicious breakfast and great evening meal. We knew in advance that we couldn’t arrive between 3-5pm and that the pub was near a busy road. So that was fine.
- Richard (10/5): Brilliant stay - Food excellent room excellent Slightly out of main peak district
- Martin (9/5): Lovely place to stay with good food and friendly staff. Will happily recommend. - Staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodation was comfortable with plenty of space and a large bathroom (shower in particular), morning greeting at breakfast was so nice and the food excellent, evening meal was fantastic too. Bit of a smell when we first arrived but quickly dissipated, shrub overgrowth obstructed the door but the lady kindly attended to this, traffic noise was constant.
- Paul (8/5): Great food and location - Lovely location, great shower, lovely staff and breakfast was brilliant.
We ate there and the dinner was brilliant. Unfortunately the bed was far too soft for us, so not a great night's sleep. We are used to a much firmer mattress.
The bath towels were quite small.

- Emma (10/5): Absolutely amazing would return in a heartbeat - Amazing setting lovely property gorgeous rooms Nothing
- Terence (8/5): A very enjoyable and relaxing stay - The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. The restaurant had olde worlde charm in abundance and had a very relaxing atmosphere. It was surprisingly large and could accommodate larger parties without disturbance to other patrons. It was unfortunate due to unusual circumstances there was no one available on site to let us in upon arrival so we had to wait outside for an hour until some staff arrived. That was the only hiccup.
- Bill (9/5): Business traveller - The Lamb inn is located a little out of Chinley in the countryside. Beautiful scenery and footpath at the end of the car park up into the hills. Plenty of on site free parking. Staff were great; really friendly and helpful. The room was very good, with comfortable bed. Free in room secure wifi. The food in the two evenings was superb, (steak and belly pork). Breakfast was too late for me, but they provided me with serial, yoghurt, and fruit the night before. Check in from 2.00pm. Breakfast from 09.00am, which was far too late for me.
- Denise (9/5): Superb - Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and the dinner was not only delicious, but excellent value.
- Bernie (10/5): Fabulous stay and awesome food and staff - Lovely little place. Fab room and the staff very welcoming and food absolutely lush! Nothing really.. the bed in room 2 has a slight angle to one side haha but very comfortable nonetheless!

My husband was really poorly we couldn’t leave room all day & Tabitha was so helpful getting me some bits for the room & she then come back later to check he was ok .
