Guest Reviews
- Steve (8/5): - Folks, the room was warm, clean and cozy! The TV worked sporadically, but fortunately the WiFi worked well. Breakfast was a little sparse but ok. I'll be back next year.
- Cheuk Shun (10/5): - Is this an old motel? Absolutely.
Is it run down? Absolutely not.
Yes, it has that 90s vibe with dated furniture, carpet, and an old-school phone, but it’s surprisingly well-kept. The sheets looked clean—no visible stains or hair (maybe I was lucky, but I appreciated it). Towels were neatly hung, and even the toilet paper was folded nicely.
You can tell the owners put effort into upkeep, and everything in my room worked as it should—heat, hot water, hair dryer, etc.
Of course, this isn’t the Hilton. If you’re expecting something fancy, this won’t be for you. But if you’re on a road trip or just need a place to sleep, this motel does the job well—and it’s one of the most reasonably priced options near Ithaca.
I’d stay here again and would recommend it if you keep your expectations realistic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Need hooks for towels
- isabel (2/5): - The stay was UNPLEASANT for the following reasons:
1. Unauthorized Credit Card Charge. The owner charged my credit card before my arrival, which I believe is a violation of policy. She claimed she was "waiting for us to arrive." We arrived at 8:00 PM, and she never attempted to contact us to verify our arrival. This charge was inappropriate, as we were not a no-show.
2. Misrepresentation of Breakfast- Expedia clearly showed that breakfast was included, and the owner confirmed this upon check-in. However, the "breakfast" provided was unacceptable: only six small muffins, water, and coffee. When we inquired, the owner brought one additional muffin and said that was all. This was misleading and absolutely not as advertised. Her attitude was so indifferent
3. Room Facilities and Cleanliness Issues - No charging outlets near the bedside; only one outlet was located near the TV. The bathroom lacked basic necessities such as towel bars or hooks. The baseboards were extremely dirty and covered in dust, appearing as though they had not been cleaned for a very long time.
4. Unpleasant Room Condition and Refusal to Relocate - One of the two rooms we booked had a noticeable unpleasant odor. We requested to change the room, but the owner refused, claiming the hotel was sold out. However, we observed only three cars including ours parked at night until we left in the morning, which makes us seriously doubt her claim, since this is a location that you can’t reach by foot.
- SIMONE (4/5): - Appeared clean but light by bed was broken mold in the bathroom missing cover in the recess light at the shower bad soap , ac system not holding temperature. I question the value of this place , need revamp for sure .
- Isaac (6/5): - No ammeneties and inda noisy by the road. However pretty clean.
- Robert (10/5): - Very friendly couple who own and manage this property. Room was very comfortable and clean. Property is in good condition. Convenient to downtown and shopping.
I would stay here again.
- Paul (4/5): Beware of possible odors - Room offered had very bad odor. Had to reject it, but we were offered the room next door which smelled ok and a/c actually worked. Low budget room. What did I expect from the name?
- Richard (10/5): - Great place, comfy beds!
- Gary (6/5): - They advertise free Wifi, however the wifi service was horrible. Both myself and my travel partner who had fairly new phones both had very little if any wifi service. When the room door was open or we were outside we had full service, but when we closed the door and was inside the room we barely had any service. When I complained about it the owner blamed my phone. I think not!! Totally unacceptable for the price I had to pay.
- Ashley (10/5): - Very nice stay! Room was clean and staff was friendly. Quiet and relaxing will stay again;
- Thomas (6/5): - Bugs in the room. Manager was unconcerned about it.
- Miranda (2/5): - I ended up not even staying there because they have you book it and then pay at the motel it is not in a convenient place if you don't have a car
- ilker (6/5): - .
- Constance (10/5): - The place is very quiet so that was a huge bonus. The room was clean.
- Heather (6/5): - The parking lot is small and has tight corners. The room was clean and the heat worked well. No towels.
- ANTHONY (6/5): Ithaca trip - The room was ok, a little stuffy at first but got better once the air circulated a bit. pretty clean and quite for the price.
- Meghan (4/5): - Needs updating, the pictures are not accurate to the 1990’s carpet & bathroom, rock hard beds and sandpaper towels
- Adam (8/5): - Staff was friendly
- Katherine R (8/5): - It is a clean room with a refrigerator. The owner was pleasant and helpful. No other amenities. For the price would stay here again.
- Jason (8/5): - No room to park at all
- Pete (8/5): - I was apprehensive upon check-in. Rooms were small and cramped, but clean and comfortable. Wifi was weak. The site was older but is being updated and cared for. new TV, AC, sidewalks, and windows. Overpriced, but at the time, I could find nothing else suitable. Stand-up shower had ample hot water. Would stay there again at a lower price.
- Glen (8/5): - Nice place to stay for the price.
- Kourtnii (6/5): - Gets the job done for last minute, late night booking to sleep.
- JOHN (4/5): - Very small motel with a lot of differed maintenance. The grounds especially the back of the property are in serious need of upkeep. Entrance and parking is inconvenient.
- Carolann (10/5): Reasonable priced stay - I was in town for a reunion of my high school classmates and only staying one night. Price was reasonable. My surprise was how efficient, clean, and attractive was my room and the outside area. A nice continental breakfast was also supplied. The owner I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. Above and beyond I call it. No wonder they are listed as AAA.
- Kevin (10/5): - Great stay for an economy hotel. Clean and appropriately maintained. The location is a bit out-of-the-way, but that is actually — for us — a bonus.
- Anne (4/5): Deceived and disappointed - Overpriced and over rated
- Travis (4/5): - It was a place to sleep, and we were beyond exhausted by the time we got there but would have been better off taking a nap at a rest stop -- we didn't use the shower anyway because it was dirty. $100 to get a 4 hour nap in a damp room. We cracked the front door at 6am just for a breeze and extra light... Front desk had to be told multiple times our daughters were literally getting dressed and he just kept standing there. We'll be back to that area because it's gorgeous, but I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're traveling solo and don't care about a decent shower
- Gerry (2/5): - My wife and I were bit up. Bed bugs.
- Kathy (10/5): - This is older Hotel but they do a nice job of keeping the room clean. Was a wonderful location. Just what we needed for a place to rest after a long day.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Inn is on a main road and noise from cars going by is constant. The room seemed clean but pretty run down. We arrived late and left early so it was fine but I dont think I'd enjoy a longer stay.
- Cynthia C. (10/5): - We always stay here when in Ithaca. It is always clean, & the staff are friendly & helpful. The property is a single-floor facility, & is located just outside the city, which is a plus for us.
- Kelly (10/5): - Where the room was dated it was super clean and that's the most important thing to me, I don't really care about the lastest look in room design is, I just want a clean one. All amenities worked great, the wifi was a little slow but we just made the tablet a hotspot and problem solved. Location is close to all kinds of shopping, food and buttermilk falls. The gentleman at the desk at check in was just the sweetest man too. Would definitely stay again.
- Ricky (8/5): - Great stay
- James (4/5): - Close to where Needed to be
Not clean, not well maintained and the internet was poor, had to place my computer next to the window to get it and then it was marginal.
- Philip (6/5): - Bare bones operation. No frills. Just the basics at best
- Catherine (6/5): - Advertised they had internet but in was only close to the office. I was in room 24 and internet didn’t go that far. Need to remove internet from add or put extenders in the rooms to carry internet to every room
- Bruce (4/5): - We really totally disliked this place. It was a real, will sleep iny car
- Stephanie (6/5): - I like hubby- He try help a lot! Very polite, kind. I liked low price- don't mind if old- I'm old. Want clean & good mattress - it was okay for price. It was very noisy and guys were outside very late across the road- if lite sleeper, don't go! The heat kept shutting off and I wake cold, but I had to Self Pay for access to internet and I didn't know I wasn't getting calls or email until late night and my email voicemail & notifications all downloaded. I wasn't happy when I tried to play TV but password worked Next day I call, tell wife I don't mind TV not working but I cant stay more without wifi. She tell me when her hubby come he will fix and not to worry she won't charge b/c it not working. That lady is very difficult to understand her husband isn't. But it all went amuck she denied she said that but kept yelling at me- I had to move all my stuff to a new room that they said worked b/c its closer. Again, the husband very helpful but it took me a long long time to pack up then move all my stuff then unpack - From about 11 to 2pm. I had plans but when I went to see her, she denied she said. At first I was shocked but so tired I was just going to pay for the night I'm very ill, but she kept yelling at me and calling me a liar, so I told her I would take it up with Expedia and she got even more angry so even though I was extremely tired, I decided.."No! This isn't right!" So I moved all my things put in car & I left b4 I started shouting back- Warning Check room b4 u pay. NG
- Ofer (2/5): - End room with no Wi-Fi, only outside the room
Very uncomfortable bed
The owner is fulfilling all duties from receptionist to cleaner.
Way way over priced
- Muriel (2/5): - The place is poorly maintained. Dirt and bugs (both dead and live) everywhere. Carpet smelled and was extremely dirty. Bathroom door was damaged. Hair dryer was dangling from the wall, looks like it will fall anytime. Air conditioner is extremely noisy. Front lobby has a nasty smell. Owner doesn't even care to voluntarily change to new clean towels every day unless you ask for them. It's annoying that there is not even a hook for towels inside the shower corner, needless to say that no shampoo or conditioner is provided.
- Cecilia (4/5): Disappointing - The room smelled awful.
We had to have the window open to try and have wi-fi working but even then it did not work.
The TV did not work
The staff member that came to look at it said the technology was too advanced??!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Economy Inn Ithaca met our expectations as a lower cost motel. The building is older. The sleeping/living area was clean. The beds were reasonably comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and helped to block road noise (motel is close to state highway). The bathroom was nicely cleaned and shower worked well. Overall, we had a good experience and would consider staying again.
- Mira (2/5): - The room was extremley dirty and had bad small. The location is very old. Bugs everywere.
- Susan (6/5): - Room was adequate. Clean enough. Air conditioner was very loud. Hard to sleep. Easy to get to Watkins Glen and downtown Ithaca.
- Stanley (10/5): - This is what we were looking for. It was clean, quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The property is old, so don’t expect much there, but we would definitely stay there again for the price.
- Benjamin (4/5): - no internet access during staying
- Cheryl (8/5): - This was a very clean and comfortable older motel. However, the WiFi was not strong in our room.It kept dropping out. We also had some problems with the cable.
- Stacey (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at Economy Inn. I just came to Ithaca to hike and the location between two state parks was super convenient. It was quiet and relaxing, just what I needed. The wifi was not that bad for me, it did turn off a few times, but I was able to connect again quickly. The pillows were also hard so i might suggest bringing your own. Overall, a great place to stay!
- Cynthia C. (10/5): - Great little family motel. Will definitely stay again.
- Wayne (8/5): - Expedia offers American Express as payment method. This hotel does not accept American Express so we had to put charge on a different card which was disappointing
- Bobby (2/5): - No hot water
- Guy (10/5): - La vie est belle
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor services - Clean room, almost useless WiFi, tv/cable didn’t work at all, Breakfast was minimal/ad hoc. Price doubled for weekend w/o notice.
- Alex (8/5): - I was pleased with the room. It was clean and had what I needed for a two night stay. It was the low priced option and most other places were 2x-5x the price. The bathroom was small and the heating system was loud. Again, it was a bargain option!
- Lindsey (6/5): - The property is outside Ithaca city limits with two other motels close by. Good microwave and minifridge. Wifi didn't work and one bar cell phone coverage. Trader Joe’s 8 minutes away and wine/liquor store across the road from TJ.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Family owned motel- very friendly. Facility gets the job done and comfortable place to rest your head.
- Shay (10/5): Great place - Simple clean place. Friendly staff. Best location and price
- Hua (4/5): - Very tiny room, poor condition of the bathroom, noisy outside due to the traffic, and expensive compared to the service. Not recommend.
- Aalekh (6/5): - Property is near to 2 tourist spots. Only issue was with wifi connection, very poor connection. In night, we can hear noises from outside the room, not so peaceful.
- Charlene (4/5): - It was a last minute booking for a family visit. And I admit I was looking for a low cost option. Though the owners/management were lovely and accommodating, the property and room were even less than I was expecting. Carpeting and the cloth chair were stained. Bathroom was clean. Microwave didn't work....musty smell.
- John (4/5): - Our room was clean, but we only had housekeeping service one day. Mainly, it was almost impossible to communicate with family or work on the computer because of the lack of internet service. Breakfast was Raisin Bran, milk, ready-made mini-muffins and bananas and coffee. Tea bags were offered, but no hot water. Shower was very small, but water pressure was good. No instructions on how to work the TV. We would not stay there again.
- Edward (8/5): - Room was OK could not get the TV to work even after two owners tried to help
- Meghan (6/5): - Very old building, but decently clean. Friendly staff. Clean bedding and towels. Easy parking and close to main road. I would stay here again for a night.
My biggest complaint is the poor wifi, we had to sit outside our room to be able to get a connection.
- Bruce (2/5): - Open late
- Yoonjung (4/5): - Unsafe
- Steven (6/5): College graduation trip - Needs to be cleaned and checked more often
- Susan (8/5): Only ok - Okay, but pillows are not comfortable, thin blanket.
- Cindy (6/5): - You get what you pay for and the room had stagnant air in it. It made me cough alot.
- Eric (8/5): Basic room, older hotel, but ok - Stayed three nights. Bed was comfortable. Facility is old, but everything worked. Hot water in shower was fine. Convenient location. Continental breakfast was sparse - milk, one choice of cereal, muffins, coffee, bananas and oranges. Owner was awesome. Great service. Would stay again.
- Mark (8/5): - Road noise. Staff was very helpfull and room was clean
- Christopher (8/5): - Convenient, friendly and engaged staff and very well priced -- road is a little noisy as is the HVAC -- I never did get the internet to work and it seemed to not reach every area of the room. The lights between the bed did not work at all. Other than the internet, it matched my expectations based on price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good economy hotel - It is an economy hotel, and it is good for that purpose.
- Janeth (2/5): - Very dirty, smells bad, i paid for this but I couldn’t sleep there, I went to other hotel
- Erin B. (10/5): - Simple but clean and comfortable motel. Hosts were nice. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Thanks
- Helen (10/5): - Very clean, great for the overnight stay. Tasty muffins and fresh fruit for breakfast.
- Philip (4/5): - The owner was nice and tried hard but their main business is a contract with the city to house the homeless who, because there is no smoking in the rooms, hang out in groups right outside your window, smoking and joking. The sheets are badly stained and the blankets have so many holes they look like swiss cheese and the air conditioner made it sound like we spent the night at the airport. We found out the motel 8 down the road has a similar contract so avoid that one as well. It's a small step above sleeping in your car.
- Ali (4/5): - There was no WiFi in the room which was very inconvenient
- Amy (6/5): - It’s supposed to be breakfast included ( part of the reason I chose this place). The inn- keeper told me that they only do Breakfast during weekend due to covid. Later on, he told my husband that they do nit do breakfast at all due yo Covid. If that is the case, he should not have advertised with breakfast. I should have my money back due to this breach of agreement.
- Maria (8/5): - The place was clean. A good place to spend the night.
- John (6/5): - Perfect for 1 night very close to the main attractions
- Yves Patrick (8/5): - Plain basic accommodations.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Never even pulled in! Property was rundown! Man smoking, drinking, sitting in the parking lot playing guitar! Overall vibe was it was not a safe environment
- Arthur (8/5): Clean and affordable - In the context of cost this was an amazing place. We were blocked out of larger properties due to college move in’s so took a room here. It is a dated motel with tiny tv’s and no working internet ( owner said it was a weather issue) but the room was physically clean, owners on site very polite and room very affordable. If you just need a place to crash and not hung up on decor and niceties this is your place. Again, clean, which was honestly all we really needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect for a one-night stay. Very simple motel with a bed and a bathroom. Nothing fancy, but didn't expect it to be. Room was very clean aside from some broken lampshades, but that didn't bother me. Had a fridge, microwave, TV, and air conditioner and that's all I needed for my one-night stay. Check-in and check-out was simple enough. Would stay here again if I ever travel back to Ithaca.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms are great, safe and clean. Bedsheets are clean bathrooms tiny though. There’s Ref and microwave. It’s close to Robert H Treman park and Buttermilk Falls.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - DO NOT. Stay here, you will not feel safe. It’s a Run down Parole state paid for hotel full of felons and addicts. People with ankle monitors stood in the doorways and watched us until we left. Management who lives in the house right in front of it refuse to give us a refund. Do not make the mistake of staying here thinking it’s a budget friendly option and putting yourself in danger.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No wifi, bare necessities in room!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basic, clean and convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was great and there really is nothing bad to say about the motel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Handy to Ithaca and more importantly to Cayuga Lake. I will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked the sound of the creek running near the building (and my room was the closest to it). The owners were very friendly and helpful when I had questions. I loved being able to drive my car up to my room door. The mattress on the bed however was somewhat hard and not the most comfortable for me.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bathroom was very very small I literally had to shut the door to use the toilet and the shower stall was very small too, not meant for a plus size person at all. The bed and pillows were hard as rocks I could not sleep. And there was cute in the carpet and ants crawling on the floor near the window ac unit and in the bathroom that I killed. Also no breakfast was offered only coffee. Had a hard time locking and unlocking the deadbolt on the door. I could hear the people in the room next to mine and hear every car pull up and pull out.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Price exactly as quoted. Check in easy. Receipt and charge ready when I got there. Everything as promised
- Stephen (10/5): Steve’s o’er nighter - Friendly check-in. No nonsense. Bed was very good 😌, very good shower, TV good. Everything was very good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The man who runs the place is very sweet and accommodating. It’s a place to sleep but not spend any time. Few amenities. Bare bones. Clean but low end.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Small motel in a lovely area just outside downtown Ithaca. Small refrigerator and a microwave in the room. No coffee maker in the room but morning coffee available in the office.
