Guest Reviews
- julie (9/5): Comfortable clean , peaceful cosy shepherds hut. Very satisfied - Cosy clean comfortable stay. Peaceful surroundimgs. Not really a place to dry towels. A towel rack to hang towels in the room ( not the bathroom) on during the day would be great
- Leanda (9/5): Picture Perfect - There’s nothing not to like! It was pretty, secluded, warm and had everything I needed. Sometimes a little tight to get in through the driveway gates.

- julie (10/5): Superb comfortablr stay in cosy Shepherds Hut great value for money. - Everything was superb. Well cared for, well thought out quality items , nice furnishings spotlessly clean. Nice outdoor sunny area Nothing.
Just one small tip perhaps a heated towelrail for drier towels.
- Ian (10/5): Fabulous Place, Wonderful Hosts and a Brilliant Location to Explore Cornwall. - I loved everything about my stay at The Cedars. It was wonderful. I stayed here once before as a Bed and Breakfast Guest and thought it was fabulous. This time I stayed in a Garden Chalet which was amazing. If I ever need to stay in Cormnwall again, The Cedars will be my first choice of places to stay. Very Highly Recommended.

Hosts were friendly and the garden was beautiful.
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfect relaxing place. - Amazingly well thought out shepherds hut. Everything that was needed was there and had a place. Lovely and secluded so not over looked at all. Nothing. We loved everything.

- Peter (10/5): - Clean and tidy, nice people,
- John (10/5): Fantastic cosy and clean cabin, very quite and perfect for short stays. - Kettle lid difficult to remove but we managed.
Drinking glasses were limited and small
Fridge is low to the ground but okay. May be difficult for some.
Recycling not available.
- David (10/5): Great little Shepherd's Hut - This is a shepherd's hut. Small by design it, it nevertheless was well thought out and had all the facilities I needed: shower room, kitchen with combi-microwave and gas rings, and a very comfortable bed. It is located in St Day, and is an easy walk to two pubs and several shops. Struggling to find anything. But the write up on the web doesn't do it justice and it would have been useful to have known a couple of things before hand. The microwave is a combi, and there are also gas rings (not mentioned) this allows for full self-catering opportunities. Also it has good Wi-Fi, again the web blurb says something about connected internet in some rooms.
- Asif (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shaun (9/5): Beautiful Cedars - Beautiful setting in a lovely location, accommodation was excellent and new very clean and comfortable and excellent value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly would recommend this accommodation to anyone. There's absolutely nothing I didn't like or would find any reason to complain about we will certainly be returning to the cedars one day.
- Maitland (9/5): Superb -

- Joanne (9/5): A good choice. - The welcome was very good and very friendly with lots of information to help us enjoy our stay. The building had lots of interesting features and the gardens were lovely with a very happy family of ducks. Breakfast had lots of options and was of very good quality and well prepared. Nothing.
- Rob (10/5): - Stayed in the shepherds hut which was very comfy and had good facilities including underfloor heating
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent
All good Nothing to improve
- Ray (9/5): Very pleasant and enjoyable stay. - Just beautiful property - baby ducks on pond a bonus. Fresh milk supplied another big bonus. Great room comfortable bed and little personal touches made for a pleasant stay. DVD player inc. with T.V. Lovely breakfast area looking over the garden with option of eating outside. Highly recommend this property. Not much.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daren (10/5): Exceptional - The room was sufficiently big, and the bathroom was exceptionally large. Dave and Janet's hospitality was top-notch, with a delicious English breakfast to start one's day. The B&B is conveniently located, about 30 mins drive from St Ives.
- Andy (10/5): Cornish paradise - Immaculate, gorgeous accomodation, attentive when required hosts, rounded off with an amazing breakfast. Thank you
- Catherine (9/5): A comfortable stay with a good breakfast and really nice hosts. - Comfortable and spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. Welcoming hosts. Lovely garden complete with ducks.
- Laszlo (10/5): Exceptional - Superb garden and hospitality.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - One of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in. The Lovely house has been in the current owner's family for about 3 generations. Decor is gorgous. and quirky, Our 2 rooms where spacious and comfortable, 1 Twin, and 1 with Kingsize bed and with a nice view to the garden. you can eat your perfectly scrumptious breakfast, overseeing the garden and watch the ducks running around. The Owners David and Janet are so welcoming, and can't do enough to make your stay fab and attention to comfort detail is brilliant Absolutely fantastic B+B. 5 *****
- Michelle (7/5): The wonderful reviews of “fantastic hosts that could not do enough influenced our choice; the experience we had was in l - A good central location for Cornwall.
Cute lodge. Service poor to that apparently received in main house. Despite hot weather, one small bin not emptied until day 4, this is self catering in a small lodge with no external bin for food waste. Only emptied when we asked, likewise with towels, consisting of one small set each. Due to lack of any communication during stay we were unsure wether we could sit in the main garden/decking, so felt stuck in a corner.
The day we left we received a message stating that due to “social distancing “ to drop the key in a pot In reception! This is a working B &B! Door was actually locked, so posted. Disappointed!
- Bashir (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts Dave and Janet were very welcoming and helpfull. Everthing we needed was catered for. Delightfull setting and close to areas of outstanding natural beauty. It was a great stay for us.
- Wolfram (10/5): Wonderful B&B. Would stay there again. - exceptionally good breakfast. Very friendly hosts. Large rooms. Huge backyard. Very quiet location, yet close to A30.
- Emre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georg (10/5): A beautiful stay - We enjoied our stay in The Cedars very much. The hosts were very friendly. The breakfast was perfect and the view from the breakfast romm into the garden was beautiful.
We had a big room with an almost new bathroom.
If we come to Cornwall again, we would stay in The Cedars again.
- Buzz (10/5): Just about perfect! - Everything! Beautiful room (room 5), with plenty of space, a sofa facing the TV, a large window, looking out over a well kept garden, complete with an occupied duck pond. The bed was very comfortable, with plug sockets and USB charging ports next to it. The bathroom was spotless. There was a large selection for breakfast, both cooked and buffet style. There's parking on site, with the gate closed over night. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The B&B is in a nice little village, close to convenience stores and a pub, with bus stops nearby serving Truro and Redruth Absolutely nothing!
- Maureen (10/5): Perfect - It was our first time in Cornwall and location of hotel was perfect as central and a short drive to all sights. Beds were comfy and rooms were super clean - which is one of the reasons we booked the Cedars. Dave & Janet were perfect hosts, giving us advice and even lending us cash for a takeway!
Dave remembered the Chinese Takeaway only took cash! He even set us a table so we could eat in comfort. Breakfasts were good and an excellent start to our full days of sightseeing. We enjoyed our short break immensely, even the ducks who roam the gardens are welcoming 😁
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional - Owners very nice and helpful, great room, very clean, food was excellent, would highly recommend!
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): - David and Janet make travellers welcome and comfortable from the start and are willing to assist and go beyond what one would expect. The rooms are tasteful and clean; the grounds superb and meals excellent. St Day has a small grocer nearby and The Star Hotel within walking distance for evening meals at reasonable prices. A wonderful stay all round. The test is always: would you stay again: Absolutely!!
- Ha (9/5): Superb -
- Sally-ann (10/5): Exceptional - The Cedars and owners were fabulous. Beautiful setting, very clean, tidy and comfortable. Extremely helpful and pleasant. Outside of their control, road into village was windy and cars parked further narrowed access.
- Katrin (10/5): Absolutely incredible stay in a beautiful hut! - We stayed in the Shepherd’s Hut for 9 days and absolutely loved it. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare breakfasts and dinners as well. The hut was very clean and incredible comfortable and pretty. You’ve got plenty of privacy and silence because the hut is located in the beautiful garden and has its own terrace. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is just perfect for different day trips by car throughout all of Cornwall. We would even highly recommend the normal B&B accommodations, because we had breakfast with the other guests once and it was phenomenal. We already miss St Day, the lovely general store around the corner and the beautiful hut, which was a lovely home for the last days.
- William (10/5): Perfect holiday accommodation for an amazing price - Loved Everything! The shepards hut was beautiful It had everything we needed and more, a home from home, Janet and David were perfect hosts, nothing was any trouble at all, it was lovely to sit on the decking having coffee with a book, watching the ducks on the pond with beautiful gardens. The rooms at the B&B were beautiful as had other family staying there, but ours perfect for us as love being able to fend for ourselves. Definitely booking for next year too. Having to leave this perfect peace of heaven was the only downside to be honest.
- Steven (10/5): Excellent base - will return again - 2nd stay - clean rooms - car parking - lovely breakfast Nothing

Great location, within short driving distance from every point of interest in western Cornwall.
The town itself, St.Day, is quite pretty. It was nice to have dinner and a short walk in the evening.
- John (9/5): You will be hard pushed to find a better stay in the area and would definitely stay again. - Everything was excellent , the breakfast was great, home made jam and marmalades and the option to have Duck eggs for breakfast has never been offered any where else I have stayed. The owners were attentive and without fault, the room clean well kept and had everything required for the stay. Very very very very minor detail , and I cant stress this enough .....it is a minor detail. Door to ensuite in the room allowed for noise to travel.
- Leane (10/5): Superb long weekend stay - Beautiful B And B in quiet village. Janet and David are friendly and welcoming. Our room was very spacious comfortable bed perfect view overlooking stunning garden and very clean felt like home from home. great location with local shops and pub for food at reasonable prices. Loved sitting for breakfast in light conservatory with pretty views of garden and being able to sit outside enjoying the peaceful garden. Breakfast is very good lots of choices and variety. homemade jam delicious. Weather perfect a real gem would highly recommend and will be back when in cornwall. could not fault .
- Sara (9/5): Fantastic place 10/10 - We stayed in the sheperd’s hut and it was simply great. Very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you need for your stay. It is well located in a small village, away from all the noise. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, one of the best ones we’ve had! David and Janet are lovely hosts, super helpful and so attentive! It is a great place and we highly recommend it! Nothing to dislike but if we were to point out anything it would be that the ducks can get noisy early in the morning. On the other side, you can have tasty duck eggs for your breakfast.
- Angela (10/5): Perfect b n b - I hardly ever give glowing reviews but wow this place deserves one ! Fantastic place …immaculate..room was so comfy …garden’s beautiful…ducks so funny…breakfast exceptional..host’s professional and very kind…nothing was too much trouble ! Amazing stay !
