Guest Reviews
- Trevor (10/5): -
- Lee (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Great value for money in a clean, comfortable hotel - Basic but nice, comfortable room. Easy access to the venue and seamless checkout. And great value for money.
- Jonathan (8/5): Pleasant stay - ideal for what we needed - Safe and secure hotel
Very clean Not much - TV didn’t work
Not particularly sound proof between room as could hear the next room shower at 6am
- Lana (10/5): I had a nice stay. The room was nice and man on reception attentive - The breakfast was nice continental style Maybe more of a cooked breakfast selection and more coffee or tea etc
- Louise (7/5): - Location was great, staff were really friendly and helpful.
Loved the fact we could have a triple room as we always struggle to find one. Half of the bed springs were broken on the double so it dipped and was a struggle to roll over.
There was also a constant sound of running water in the wall - didn't sound right and actually kept me awake a little.
- Rafal (10/5): - Nice staff, clean and comfortable room, good location, nice decoration in the communal areas, lovely looking bar and restaurant (although we didn't eat ir drink there as it was a very short stay) There was nothing I didn't like. The rooms are a bit dated but for this price it's not really a problem
- Stacy (10/5): Peaceful, welcoming and friendly. Great food x - The Verve Hotel is so welcoming, I have been training for work purposes over the last year and have stayed in different hotels within Bedford, until I stayed at The verve, I now book with the verve every time. Very comfortable, lovely people and just a great place to stay. Nothing, I honestly cannot think of anything I didn’t like about staying at the Verve hotel. Maybe 1 thing, and that is to have smart TV so I can log into my Netflix but that is minor.
- Callum (8/5): Good Restaurant -
- Joshua (7/5): A big space despite some internet issues. Would visit again. - Location was great, easy check-in, nice bathroom, cool with the windows open, spacious, clean, friendly staff, love the garden WiFi was spotty at times
- Dianne (9/5): Family party - Easy for everything you need All good
- David (8/5): It suited my needs for the night and would certainly consider using it again. - A very pleasant hotel, with equally pleasant staff! The seat in the room appeared broken, as I could lean back on it to almost the horizontal. It nearly caught me out the first time I leant back in it! Spoke to a member of staff in the morning and they thought it was just a fashionable chair, but would take a look at it anyway.
- Jason (9/5): -
- Gheorghe Silviu (8/5): -
- Jo (9/5): Very nice clean room short walk to the train station - It was perfect for my needs. When I booked 10, I was told I was upgraded to a double room. I could hear next door’s TV on both sides. Also, where my room was located was near their office. So I could hear conversations going on it didn’t go on too late, but I could hear them.
- Serena (10/5): - It was beautifully decorated and quite funky. Bed a little small for us as I like king-size (husband snores) shower was good and powerful. Just right for one night. Great hotel at a bargain price. Just the bed is a bit on the small side for us. I like king-size.
- Glenn (7/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): Nice hotel with good levels of service - Clean and tidy. Friendly staff Room was hot
- Jonathan (9/5): -
- Abygael (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Great stay - Location, comfort, excellent clean room Nothing
- Ursula (10/5): - Great location and very friendly staff
- Ashir Ali Khan (10/5): -
- bamidele (2/5): Bad experience with unhelpful staff. It could have been better - I did not have breakfast
Room and bed was warm enough and ok. I am very unhappy with the attitude go the staff of Verve..... they staff both the one that received me and the one at check out were not helpful.
Booking.com made a double charge on my account for 1 stay and I complained at arrival. Till date my refund has not been processed.... Infact Verve keep"s sending me

- Poenaru (10/5): -
- Monique (5/5): - Priset Allt
- Tina (5/5): Quiet but not luxury as branded - Quiet had parking I had to leave early to catch my train at ;5am there was no hot water so had to have a cold shower which was not great. There was no one in reception to raise this with. I hoped that there would be hot water at all times in a hotel especially early morning for business travellers 5am is not early!! Stated luxury but bath towels not sheets and were very poor quality and threadbare
- Kristopher (1/5): This a place i will ner put my foot agian - Poor will never go again Overall Bad and Poor dont waste your money
- Poenaru (9/5): -
- Sharon (1/5): Poor stay - Good car park Bed was shocking and got no sleep even moved rooms and mattress quality shocking
- Steve Pring (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Bedford - Everything! Nothing!
- Neagu (10/5): - Nice and clean
- Anna (8/5): - The hotel was so quirky and colourful, it was warm and inviting. I was upgraded from a single to a double room for free. The room was so comfortable. The dining area was gorgeous and the outside was lovely laid out
- Whitcombe (10/5): Excellent vaule 4 the price. - Nice and clean, will stay again when i work up there. It was spotless and lovely people st the reception
- Ruth (7/5): Friendly, clean hotel near the train station. - Friendly staff Location was a bit out of town, but that was our fault for not noticing when booking. Breakfast finished at 9 which felt early at the weekend.
- Scott (8/5): Excellent - Very clean and quirky good location Nothing
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): We would defo go back - Really well appointed hotel exceeded our expectations. We had courtyard apartments and own front doors. 20% off their menus and food excellent. The restaurant staff quite young and one on first day bless needed to stand back, they were hovering and as soon as one of us finished plate was taken they should wait for all.
Shower a bit small.
- Brown (10/5): - Everything was spot on, her so comfortable and great interior design for a bnb - would recommend this place before any hote in bedford. Honestly, I could not fault with my stay here.
- Channer (10/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly. The entrance system.
- Ognyan (9/5): -
- J J Allen (8/5): - Had no 1 beds on ground floor after requesting with booking
- Cecilia (10/5): Great value for money, great staff and great location - everything n/a
- Gizelle (5/5): - Comfy bed I did not managed to sleep much during my stay as the guests next to my room was arguing and shouting up to 2am. It was terrible.
- Richard (10/5): Comfortable and good value last minute stay in the middle of Bedford. Very close to the station - Comfortable bed and good check in. Slightly narrow room
- Neil (8/5): -
- Christina (5/5): Definitely not 4 Star, expensive for very small room. - We booked the Verve as it was local to an event we were attending
Parking for about 10 cars The rooms were very small and really only ideal for one person - standard rooms are not the same size as a standard room in Premier Inn or similar style hotel they are significantly smaller and more expensive. Bathrooms very small. Limited plug sockets and one socket slightly overcrowded with plugs already. Tiny television.
Communal ironing board and iron
Floors in rooms creak when you walk and you can hear the floors in other rooms when people walk on them
Carpets on stairs leading to loft rooms are wearing away and very steep and narrow.
- Sithembile (10/5): - Everything. Easily accessible. The booking and check-in processes were smooth. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable and warm. As someone with a back problem, I found the bed very comfortable. Nothing to dislike
- TheBlackMaraca (6/5): Visiting family in Bedford - This review was held back until the room double charging issue was resolved.
BOOKING - 1 double room
ROOMS - Comfortable, Warm, Well Heated, Mini-Fridge
BATHROOMS - En-suite with Shower. Large bathroom which contained the wardrobe and drawers, probably because the room was big enough to fit a wardrobe in.
FACILITIES - Coffee, Tea, Biscuits. Mini milk cartons (never enough)
BREAKFAST - they do NOT DO cooked breakfast (and this has been mirrored as a minus in a lot of comments) because they don’t have the kitchens working+staff in the morning. DIY cereal from dispensers, fruit and muffins. The front desk man - BAZ - then brought us croissants, toast, baked beans (microwaved?) and jam.
LOCATION - close to the town centre with a carpark at front.
PARKING - No issues with finding a space I suspect some cars may have to double up so they ask you to leave the keys at the front desk if they need to “car tetris” to get theirs out.
PROPRIETORS - Seldom, if ever, on-site. Only a front desk person. Was told Management very rarely come to Bedford and ONLY work out of the Peterborough office. And, they are only contactable by email. The front desk staff are NOT authorised to give a contact number for Peterborough HQ. (Look it up on the Peterborough hotel website the phone number has been erased!!).
TOP STAFF? - n/a
COULD DO BETTER? - Simply put, a better and far less emasculated front-desk.
We were charged twice (Wednesday before our Friday stay and then on the Friday again) for the same one night stay. Bax on the front desk said there’s nothing he could do and I would need to contact my booking agent (HOTELS.COM) as it must have been them. Contacted HOTELS.COM and they said all refunds and payment processing was through VERVE not them.
Spoke with Baz and then he explained the hotel manager Christine would be onsite from Monday so any escalation would have to wait until after the weekend. He could ONLY take payments not correct errors. That has to go via email only comm’s with HQ.
Rang the hotel on Monday and Baz answered to say Christine didn’t come to Bedford and he was wrong in saying that. However Christine “knew about you” because they were looking into the complaint I’d raised for processing the double debit. I wrote this up and emailed Peterborough HQ to refund the erroneous debit. They replied later that day to say the Wednesday debit (#1) was a pre-auth and their “hold” should have been released by now and not kept as a charge. The second debit on Friday (#2) was the payment transaction. I contacted my bank using screenshots of all the transactions and comm’s and thanks to them they replied within 90 minutes and cancelled the first erroneous debit and said they’d pursue the matter with VERVE.
THINGS TO DO CLOSE BY - n/a. Visiting family.
Stayed FEB, 2026, travelled with family
- Boyler - Ireland (10/5): Thanks for everything, our stay was comfortable. - nice staff, rooms and little bar and resto area is nice
- Gail (10/5): Excellent! - Spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
Excellent facilities including a mini fridge.
More than happy with this stay including the very reasonable price.
Thank you. Nothing
- Mark (8/5): - Very clean, convient, good price , nice rooms Room was very hot, even in February. Had to sleep with window wide open. At check in, insisting on photocopying id with pic on. No need at all and concerned about security of my ID.
There is a hideous pic of a zebra in the room. Would give people nightmares!
- Muhammad (10/5): -
- John (7/5): Located in a smart leafy area of Bedford, well presented but does have drawbacks. - Location and the hotel standard Having to check in with passport or driving license. If you had neither you’re not allowed to stay prepaid or not. Never experienced this in the UK, unacceptable.
Rooms were poorly insulated so at 1am you could hear talking in one side, Tv on the other and banging around above. Not good at all. No hot breakfast option which for a higher class hotel is poor.
- Lowri-Ann (10/5): Great service - Friendliness n/a
- Paul (9/5): Superb value for money with a good central location, excellent Staff. - Serious value for money. Both the young Lady on evening reception and the Gentleman on Morning breakfast duties were truly customer focused and absolute assets to the Hotel.
Evening meal was good value and quality.
I would have no hesitation in staying here again
- Loan (7/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- John (5/5): - Pleasant service Inadequate parking, dodgy shower, weird breakfast
- Kamapunga (8/5): - The environment Nothing
- Sindhoora (5/5): Good from proximity standpoint but definitely not a 4 star standard - proximity to station No hot breakfast was available, and the morning male staff member was rude. The ladies working in the evening were very friendly and nice. The rooms smelled like fresh paint, and the hallway smelled weird. The bed was not good either. I would expect better standards from a hotel marked as 4 stars, quite honestly.
- Julian (7/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Rainer (6/5): Für Kurzaufenthalt OK - Nicht im Preis inbegriffen Extrem kleines Zimmer und Bad
- Alison (5/5): Ok for one night, personally, would not recommend. - Restaurant / Food of good quality Small room, uncomfortable single bed, ensuite small, shower warm ish, noise between rooms, could hear everything the joining room was doing from Tv to their phone call speech.
- Judith (8/5): -
- Richard (10/5): Well worth the money and got a free upgrade which always adds to the review. - Very clean and tidy Nothing
- Naresh (9/5): I really enjoyed the stay, had a good night's sleep - I paid £53 for one night, which is perfect prive .
If you keep the price at £53 when I do come I will definitely book again.
The receptionist upgrade me to a double bed , which was very kind of her.
Nice place to stay, I really enjoyed the stay
Thank you
Kind regards

- francine (10/5): Little Gem - High Standards - The receptionist was very friendly, warm, informative and smiled throughout. What we received was excellent customer service and she even showed us to our room. The hotel was clean, decorated to a high standard with electronic entry and exit into the building. It also boasts a bar. The room was cosy and contained all the necessary furniture. They provide bottled water for the kettle which was a plus. Not just tea and coffee but biscuits also. There was a fridge and central heating in the room. As well as an extra oil heating for those who enjoy heat like me lol. There was also a hairdyer and tv in the room. The hotel also has a garden. The standard was high for such a small establishment and I can see why they have won so many awards. The room was on the outer area of the hotel, and we did get slightly wet. It abouts 10-15 steps from main building to room but you have to open the room door. Perhaps offer an umbrella for the short journey into the main building or an awning cover. This area is well lit and clean. However, the outer rooms are perfect for people with mobility difficulties or need wheelchair access.
- Barbara (9/5): - Great, cosy, Christmas theme throughtout, loved it has kept old charm with modern features. Staff were professional and welcoming. Although I didnt have a meal the menu selection was good. I opted for a desert instead which included a 20% discount. 😀
I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend this hotel. The double bed were 2 singles joined together, so one side was a little uncomfortable.
- Mahirul (6/5): Delightful - Easy to access, simple to understand For a single room it got very hot
- Marc (8/5): - Hotel muy limpio y acogedor, el personal muy correcto, buena relación calidad precio!
Se me hizo muy curiosa la decoración navideña por todo el hotel, muy luminosa y abundante🎅 Todo correcto!
- Barbara (10/5): - Everything and everyone.. nicely decorated for Christmas 🎄 👌 Na
- Mark (10/5): - Everything
- Peter (1/5): I would never stay here again - Nothing Everything
- Raicu (10/5): -
- Timothy (9/5): Very welcoming very comfortable hotel with great facilities in a very convenient location - Excellent location with good quality restaurants on site and very convenient parking Room is very comfortable but dated
- Catherine (10/5): - Lovely clean, comfy room. Staff were informative and welcoming. Car parking on site. N/A
- Ohai (9/5): -
- julie (10/5): Our yearly Bedford night out - Perfectly located for our night out, beautiful hotel, clean, comfortable room, ample tea & coffee etc, we also had a gorgeous view which was an added bonus & the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas.. The young lady on reception was polite, smiley & very pleasant & very informative.. The goodie bag we each received was very much appreciated also.. An extremely comfortable stay & we would book again without hesitation.. A cooked breakfast would have been fabulous but it was not available which was a shame.. No complaints whatsoever apart from the breakfast being unavailable.. It would have been nice to sit down & eat breakfast rather than go elsewhere..
- John (10/5): Gennemrejse til en koncert - Beahaligt
