Guest Reviews
- david (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): Peaceful, homely and with everyone one could need for a short stay away from home. - Our second stay at the Old Chapel Forge - and we were very happy to return. Thank you Maggie. 10/10
- Amanda (10/5): Had a lovely comfortable 2 nights stay with beautiful views. - It was lovely with beautiful views Nothing at all
- Brenda (10/5): - Everything
- Peter (10/5): Ideal location for a couples weekend break on the South coast - Comfortable well appointed property
Friendly host
Good location
- Barry (10/5): -
- Diana (5/5): Disappointing for four nights - The view was lovely and the bed was comfortable. The conversion is good but soundproofing poor. No problem with a breakfast basket in principle but cheap ingredients, some of which went out of date, left for a four day stay and being expected to wash plates next to the toilet is not ok. The owner is happy to leave guests alone (that means no work for her) and will service the room but only if requested. We did request and she did empty bins, refresh elements of the breakfast, do the washing up and change towels. The idea this was not automatic was ridiculous especially for a four night stay - it was like self catering without the advantages but at a similar cost. In addition handrails are required to the front steps and a grab rail in the shower.
- Robert Philbrook (10/5): - It was a great locating, super accommodation and Maggie a super host. 👏 Nothing to add.
- Michael (9/5): - Lovely room, comfy bed, very clean throughout. Plenty of tea/coffee/sugar and milk provided along with bread, cereals and yoghurts for breakfast. Room is pitch black with all the curtains closed which aided 2 great nights' sleep which was the purpose of my visit. Owner checked in with me by text shortly after arrival and would have corrected any issues had there been any. Two tiny niggles which didn't have an overly negative impact on my stay: the wifi is quite slow - not a problem as I used my own. On the second night I had quite noisy neighbours in the next room but keeping the bathroom door shut kept most of that out. Unfortunately the weather didn't permit use of the pretty garden area, but it would clearly be a nice place to enjoy sunnier days.
- Louise (9/5): Perfect! Couldn't fault it - Very comfortable, quiet and clean. Beautiful location
- Nick (10/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Turned an regular business trip into a delightful stay - Everything has been brilliantly thought through. Excellent environment
- Lucy (10/5): Perfect Short Stay - The accommodation had everything we needed and more. Good communication from the owner. Very comfortable. We liked it all.
- james (10/5): -
- Charles (8/5): Great stay in convenient location. Friendly host and great accommodation. Recommended. - Very thoughtful touches like organic yogurts in the fridge, orange juice and fresh bread plus fresh fruit. Bath and shower. Big comfy bread. Nothing.
- Hilary (8/5): A really good, value for money, quaint, peaceful stay. Was just what we wanted, Thank you Maggie. - Beautifully converted chapel, very peaceful, Maggie went to great pains to accommodate my gluten free diet which I really appreciated and she was very attentive, checking in with our needs throughout our stay. We appreciated her attention to detail, but also how respectful she was of our space, leaving us in peace when we needed it. Our only quibble is the mattress which was softer than we are used to, my husband ended up with a bad back, despite turning this after the first night. It is nearing the end of it's recommended usage so may benefit from being replaced. Other than that everything else was very good.
- Jenny (10/5): - The accommodation provided everything we could possibly need, the room was spotless, and the view amazing! The whole place was very restful.
- Amanda (10/5): Excellent - Every thing was just perfect for us. Nothing
- Heather (10/5): Perfect - Excellent location and very peaceful after lecturing at the university all day .Maggie refilled excellent choice of breakfast provisions
Thank you
- Thomas (10/5): - Maggie was the perfect host, made sure we had everything we needed each day. Beautiful setting. We would come back again.
- Cathy (10/5): Rural, self contained idyll - The warm welcome from the host. Spacious parking, picturesque gardens, comfy bed. Nice toiletries, plentiful and varied food/ drink options, the attention to detail such as guide book and card game. Loved the bath. Comfy seating area. Separate porch way. The weather!😂
- Guest (10/5): An exceptionally well-appointed, quiet and comfortable place to stay - A cornucopia of options for the self-service breakfast: more than sufficient!
- Debra (10/5): Our host was very helpful from the time of booking until our departure. We were visiting - Clear instructions to reach the property, lamps and heating on at our arrival. The breakfast of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts and bread suited us well along with the milk, juice, tea and coffee facilities. It was very stormy when we were there but the accommodation was warm and cosy. Very comfy bed and the bath and shower had plenty of hot water. It was good to have the sofa to relax on too. Nothing that we were unhappy with.
- Fenn (10/5): - The chapel has lots of charm, lovely views from french windows to watch deers feeding and swan's landing, and beautiful sunset,
- Roger (9/5): Great! We would definately re-book when visiting again. - Everything. We were very generously supplied with gluten free bread, cereals and snacks. This is essential for my wife and my dietary requirements. The weather.
- Steve B FBS (10/5): Ideal for business travel - Ideal location, great accommodation for self sufficiency in bed & breakfast
- Malcolm (8/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): Quaint stay in idyllic countryside ! Highly recommended. - Everything was perfect ! We appreciated the attention to detail, the helpful communications, the information pamphlets and the beautiful property itself.
- Joanne (8/5): -
- James (10/5): Pleasant relaxing break after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism earlier in the week. - Being able to have a bath!
Breakfast was fine... A good selection of small boxes cereals. ( first time in years I have had cereal for breakfast, so a trip down memory lane).. Back to my eggs and salad today. Nowt to dislike
- Malcolm (10/5): - Everything was excellent. The only way it could be better would be the addition
of wifi
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable and well located - Nice cosy lodge, warm and comfortable. Nice selection of breakfast items and utensils.
Location good for Chichester and the coast. Plenty of on site parking. Nothing, all good
- Alison (10/5): A very pleasant stay in comfortable surroundings with a very interesting history to the building. It was good having the - Great room with lovely view over fields and access to a garden area which would be great in the summer.
- Georgina (9/5): Unusual room, delightful setting. - Unusual, well-designed room, lovely setting, pleasant welcome basket (excellent coffee bags), which provided a range of breakfast materials, including bread, juice, and yoghurt.
The host maintained contact during our stay but left us in peace unless needed. Parking available on site. A most enjoyable stay. Some good pubs and sufficient local shops are nearby but would require a car to access.
The bath was a little difficult to get out of. A rail would have facilitated this process.
Turning onto the road from the property was challenging, and some traffic noise audible.
- Fenn (10/5): - Everything especially the character of the building
- Liz (10/5): Great place - We loved the room and the views. Lovely set up. Maggie put flowers and chocolates in the room for our anniversary All really good
- jason (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): We had a wonderful stay , - Everything was perfect ,
- Viki (10/5): Perfectly set up for a comfortable stay - Maggie was a fantastic host, bending over backwards to make our stay the best it could be.
The lodge was spotlessly clean, perfectly equipped, and very comfortable. The breakfast items provided were ideal, and proper coffee (coffee bags) were the icing on the cake!
If you are considering Old Chapel Forge for your stay, i would fully recommend booking! Having to check out!
- Drusilla (10/5): Awesome - Thjis property is amazing. It was ideally located for our visits to the Downland open air museum , Chichester and Fishbourne Roman Palace. Nothing
- John (10/5): You'll enjoy staying here! - Well equipped and very comfortable, this is a wonderful place to stay. Maggie is an ideal host - friendly and attentive. Near to Chichester and the coast, there is plenty to enjoy within easy driving distance. No negative thoughts
- Hugh57 (9/5): Historic Lodge - The cosy property had all we could wish for. Historic building with vaulted ceiling but tastefully modernised. Fridge full of breakfast things, toaster and kettle.Maggie was quick to respond to messages and keen to help. Nothing.
- Dearman (9/5): -
- Tim (6/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Exactly ask the website described - Very peaceful and relaxing. Well laid out and clean room. Clear and precise instructions and very friendly owner, couldn't ask for more. Can't think of anything.
- D.J Van Den Bos (9/5): Bijzondere slaapplaats - Prachtig gebouw. Gelegen in het buitengebied. Ruime kamer. Prima bedden en een heerlijke douche. Goed parkeren.
- Kenneth (10/5): - The accommodation is wonderful and set in a beautiful position
The attention to detail and the supply of all the necessary extras are very generous.
Maggie couldn't have been more helpful, with a personal touch, which was very refreshing.
We would definitely recommend a stay at this remarkable little gem.

- Helen (10/5): Great place for visiting the Bognor Regis and Pagham area. - Had a bit of character. Very comfortable bed with a super view over the fields. Clean and had everything we needed.
Close to several pubs although not walking distance. It’s not a didn’t like. There is no sink for washing up however Maggie was more than happy to refresh the crockery and cutlery daily.
- Berrill (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Comfortable and cosy room with everything we needed. A lovely place to stay.
- Karan (10/5): Great location, lovely views. Owners are so nice! - Great location, lovely views. Owners are so nice! Stayed down there for a trip to Goodwood and the owners were happy to let us borrow a hose to rinse the cars off.
- Adriaan J (9/5): Super!! -
- Karen (10/5): Welcoming. Clean and comfortable. The breakfast package was well thought - Convenience

- Karin (8/5): -
- GRAHAM (7/5): quite good would like a bit owner contact but what ever we asked for it was always got for us.bit la - no ebnough room to eat but the rest as good
Gehorig vooral badkamer geluiden.
- Whitaker (9/5): A little gem hidden away. - Really super stay there, thoroughly recommend it for a stay away, just wish we could have stayed a little longer, Thanks, Maggie. Nothing.
- Desislava (10/5): - Absolutely amazing place. A million times more beautiful than we expected. Everything in the room and garden is stylishly chosen and arranged. There are all those little things that you might forget to take with you, but you will need.
And Maggie.....she is so lovely, friendly and helpful.
Thank you Maggie, we wish you lots of success and we will see you again soon.
- Hayley (10/5): Beautiful getaway! - The property was beautiful, very well equipped with everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well, had a wonderful sleep both nights. The host Maggie checked in to make sure everything was up to standard, which was a lovely touch also.
- Cath (9/5): Great two night stay in a lovely location. - The room was very nice, comfortable and clean and with lovely views over the fields. The breakfast was very good and it was convenient having it in the room so that we didn't have to get up early! Nothing to dislike.
- colin (10/5): Comfortable, clean and convenient, loved it. - Obviously recently decorated and appointed room and ensuite with consideration given to travellers needs. Excellent location for Chichester, Bognor and other South Coast towns. Well thought out buffet breakfast with everything provided.
Recommend to anyone visiting the area. Smallest of complaints was slightly noisy metal bedstead when turning but nothing much as so much else to applaud, well done Maggie.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect stay! - Lovely location, lovely property, tastefully decorated and fitted. Perfect Maggie!
- C.J. (8/5): Sfeervolle plek - Sfeer van verbouwde kapel, verzorgde inrichting, schoon.
Lekker in bad kunnen liggen. Het ligt langs een drukke weg. Dat hoor je goed.
Ontbijt sober en veel zoetigheid, bed en bank mogen comfortabeler.
- Petra (7/5): Provisions for self made breakfast were made, for a superior room it was a little bit small but okay - The location was nice, a car is needed Peaceful, nicely decorated
- Glyn (10/5): perfect for peace and relaxation. - Welcome basket was excellent. The whole stay was comfortable and we were made very welcome. We could find no fault with anything. For us old fogies a support rail by the bath would save anyone from slipping when getting out of the bath /shower.
- peter (10/5): - Superb host, interesting and unique building, very comfortable room, very well provisioned - excellent breakfast baskets. Super views and sunsets. Would book again and recommend to friends. Busy road close by.
- Lucy Rankin (10/5): Exverything you need for a quiet getaway! - My boyfriend and I travelled here for Goodwood. The location is absolutely perfect - overlooking a stunning field where the sunsets are breathtaking. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and even came by on our final day to see how we were getting on and asked how our stay was. Not applicable - it was a brilliant stay.
- Roy (10/5): Absolutely wonderful excellent stay - Beautiful location. Lovely facilities absolutely perfect The road can get busy
- Gordon (10/5): Wonderful. Thank you Maggie - Charming property. Lots of thoughtful touches . A nice selection of snacks and breakfast goodies .
- Mac (10/5): - Maggie, the host, was amazing, on hand if you required anything. Beautiful property and location. Everything about the Old Chapel Forge is pure class 👌:-). Nothing. Pure class and more
- Brian (10/5): Easter Bunny - Nothing to much trouble alway on hand if you needed it location very rural which suited us fine
- mark (10/5): - Maggie is a great host and takes the time to look after her guests, we will be booking again very soon.
- John (9/5): - The room was light, airy and had a view across a small garden and fields. There was no noise intruding.
The breakfast goods were fresh, varied and plentiful.
The bed was comfortable ... and huge!
One of the nicest places we have stayed. We would have liked the heating to have come on earlier, as the room was initially chilly, facing west as it does.
- Mark (10/5): Weekend chill out - We had a very very relaxing stay, booked 2 nights, Friday and Saturday with the intention of a wander around Chichester but we found the room (chapel garden) to be so comfortable and relaxing we decided just to chill there on the Saturday to re charge, so glad we did, the patio doors to the room opened up to a beautiful, well kept garden which overlooks miles of open fields, we just sat and watched the birds all day.
Bed was very comfortable, TV a good size, bath was a huge bonus as so many places just have a shower now, the breakfast hamper was amazing with all we needed for 2 days breakfast, coffee bags instead of instant was a great addition, even a little pot of boiled sweets.
We will definitely return, thank you Maggie you've got a little gem there.
- Mel (8/5): Comfortable space for a couple of nights. We enjoyed it. - The house was well signposted and easy to find. The views out are good. I imagine it's very pleasant in summer, we were there in March and quite cold in the garden.
The inside was well furnished and everything worked fine. It is essentially one room with an ensuite. It was a bit tight when eating but manageable. Quite difficult to manouevre the car, especially at night.
- David (9/5): Idyllic - The complementary food and toiletries were way beyond expectation
- Edward (9/5): -
- Russell (10/5): Inspiring stay Old Chapel Forge - Location ideal in the middle of nowhere, secure, safe very tranquil and quiet. Breakfast provisions idea, nice hot shower. Easy reach of Bognor Regis to attend family funeral. Owner Maggie on hand if we required anything. Will stay again next time we cruise from Southampton Having looked at the other apartment with views over open countryside should have chosen that one to spot wildlife.
- Simon (10/5): Old Chapel Forge - Everything was exceptional, from the breakfast basket to the comfortable bed and west-facing view. Local pubs, wonderful walks, nature reserves and Chichester are all just a short drive away. Old Chapel Forge is truly a gem, and the host Maggie was brilliant, helpful and friendly. Not applicable. Everything was great.
- Peter (10/5): - Very cosy room with everything you would need for a short stay. Great contact from the owner Maggie.
- Debbie (10/5): Our 2nd stay here, 10/10. - Very comfortable and clean accommodation with an exceptional host. Excellent continental breakfast included.
- Terence (10/5): - Quiet, peaceful location. Amazing sunset from french doors
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Rhiannon (10/5): Cozy & relaxing stay at Chapel Forge - Such a lovely place to stay, the bed was so comfortable and the little touches were amazing like the breakfast basket and bottle of fizz left for my partners birthday. It’s calm and quiet and very cozy. Maggie was great, on hand if we needed anything! Will be recommending to friends and would definitely come again. Waking up to the view was wonderful! Nothing
- Phil R (10/5): Another enjoyable stay - Beautiful setting, a well equipped and very comfortable base within easy striking distance of Bognor, Chichester and Goodwood. Nothing-it’s absolutely lovely.
- David Fairweather (10/5): The host was very welcoming and the room and breakfast ideal for us. The next time that we are in the area we will defin - The beautiful view of the broccoli fields when you open the curtains in the morning. Having to leave !!
- Jean Sanders (9/5): Excellent address for a quiet stay, but Goodwood events are not a cheap period to go. - The room was not extremely large, but had all the amenities, comfort, ... For me, the bed was a tad small, but being 6'7", I am used to that; the road was a bit noisy at times, but all in all, a very pleasant stay.
My host, Maggie, greeted me and showed me around; she enquired on a regular basis if I needed anything.
Everything was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was provided in the cupboard / fridge, which was simple but good. Given the dates (around one of the Goodwood main events), pricing was not really cheap, but it was close enough to the venue (10 minutes away).
- Jenkins (10/5): - Beautiful location, was warm, cosy and had everything I could’ve needed
- Dean (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable, quiet breathtaking are just a few words to describe the property. - Everything was fantastic, Maggie certainly knows how to prepare a property for her quests. The little extra touches where unexpected. N/a
