Guest Reviews
- Nan (7/5): - The antique version of the Building and the ceiling in Dining Hall looks great. The heating system should have a better type which could easily adjust the temperature.
I am not saying it is not good but it’s a little bit complicated control system.
- Paul (10/5): Awesome stay - Love the location, staff are awesome! We love coming to stay and the pub n food!! Just needed black out curtains
- zane (10/5): - The chick that gave me the keys to the room! 😂 Had to leave to early in the morning
- Alain (8/5): - Le restaurant de l'hôtel
- Gary (7/5): The Kings - Good location. Comfortable bed.
Hot shower. Good continental breakfast. Room a bit tired, with broken draw, broken fire sensor. Power point at beside didn't work.
- Barry (2/5): Very disappointing - We were awaken at 2am to an outside gate banging on the outside corner of our room in the wind, having to get dressed go outside to secure the gate was annoying unacceptable, I’ve emailed kings explaining this and after 3 days they still haven’t replied. Very poor customer service The gate banging, the bedside light blinking, you couldn’t have it on, the sing plug not sealing just allowing the water to drain away, kings not returning phone calls.
- Sian Roscoe (7/5): Good for a stopover. - Friendly staff, easy check in and out. Room was clean and spacious. Heating was on when I arrived. Thin walls, could hear the tv and neighbour's conversation. Ear plugs were provided.

- Croney (10/5): Like it but didnt love it - Love the food from the restaurant especially the buffalo wings and mussels big portions and freshly made. Our room was good has mostly everything. Staff were very helpful and friendly and service was fast and on point. Restaurant was very cosy and nice setting. I wouldnt say didnt like just felt like the certain areas of the place needs renos carpark area very dark could have more lighting. Pillows could be more thicker and beds. Room didnt have any mini fridge.

- Qinghua (10/5): - This stay felt like a poetic, tranquil escape. A beautifully serene retreat with a palette of warm gold, soft orange and earthy brown, so calming and therapeutic. The quiet, gentle kitten wandering around was the sweetest surprise. Pure comfort and peace.
- Noel (8/5): -
- Ulrike (9/5): - Sauber, gute Lage mit Blick auf den Schicksalsberg. Schlüsselübergabe unkompliziert. Nichts!
- Toni (8/5): Friendly staff and amazing food - Stayed here before so knew what to expect. It's primarily for younger folks so no trimmings but staff go out of their way to help out and are so friendly. Having said all that the evening meal was outstanding. One of the very best we'd had in a 3 week trip to the South Island, and we ate in some very fancy places in Wanaka and other cities. Both the Venison and the Pulled Pork mains were incredibly good. We noticed a LOT of locals coming in to dine so they clearly have built a reputation around the food. Of note is that they've added a continental breakfast since last year - and included in price of stay. This was great too and included home made granola (2 options) and home made yoghurt. As previously mentioned, being primarily for younger guests, it is not very private so noise levels depend on the guests staying both the number and the rowdiness. This time, main noise came from dogs that were staying next to us and guests leaving very early.
- Sam (10/5): - Amazing service!
- Claire (8/5): Great place. Would recommend. - Great location.

- Petra (7/5): Eten super lekker, hotel voldoende goed en niet duur. - Locatie is prima.
Diner was super lekker! Ga hier eten!! Het 2 persoonsbed was niet zo fijn. Als mijn man omdraaide schudde alles zo, dat iker bijna uitviel.

- Michael (10/5): - Tidy and fun N/a
- Emma (7/5): would definitely go back! - great location, lovely staff, great having a restaurant and bar onsite. room felt a bit cramped with two of us
- Sarah (8/5): Great location and good value with friendly staff. - Fab view from room 3. Staff were great. Really happy that bar served food until late as I came in late from a race. Included breakfast was tasty and plenty of choice. Hot tubs were a nice touch. Bathroom was a bit tiny and sink really small so hard to use. 3-bed room would have been a squeeze for 3 people but was fine for one or maybe two.
- Harsh (6/5): - Calm location with awesome views. Rooms were compact but equipped with everything you need. Staff was unreachable had to reach via borrowed phone to inform of late arrival. pool had debris and insects, nobody cared to clean. Nice place and friendly staff but could use some more investment.
- David (8/5): Good place to stay to see the national park. - Kings is pretty much a no frills place but is clean with a great staff and attached restaurant and bar. The continental breakfast is adequate with toast, hard boiled eggs and carrot bread. Instant coffee at breakfast.
- Paul (9/5): It is definitely my property of CHOICE in OHAKUNE..!! I loved it.. - The Bar and Restaurant and the cafe are a treat... obviously built about 100 years ago... it oozes character that modern buildings could not buy if they wanted too.. it is amazing..!! It is what it is.... its an old Hotel.. brilliantly managed.. the staff ... EVERYTHING was excellent.
- Roshan (7/5): Good location for NP access - This hotel is close to the railway station and so very comfortable if you want a stop-over in the Auckland - Wellinton journey.
The National.Park is close to the hotel and short walks can be accessed easily. The room with bunker beds have no cupboard or hangers.

Belle douche
Petit déjeuner correct.
Lits simples, mais confortables.
Logement propre.

- Thorsten (8/5): Passte alles - Gute Lage und alles was es braucht. Sehr nettes Personal Etwas in die Jahre gekommen
- Kelsie Seymour (7/5): Comfy beds and pillows , value for money - Bed and pillow was very comfy
Value for money for the room
Room size was enough for a couple
Room smelt fresh and was clean
Receptionist and bar staff very chirpy and welcoming.
Pool table
Good size bar Location of the toilet paper lol you have to twist around and bend backwards to get to the toilet paper .
Maybe relocate on back of door ?
Coffee was instant powder , be nice to provide plunge at least if you can't provide coffee bean .
Room was quite hot , as the weather is changing constantly maybe upgrade to install air-conditioning
No fridge provided in room , you need to hire the fridge.
Alot of maintenance is needed throughout the hotel .
Pool table top needs replacing

- robjadu (7/5): - I love this place. It has nice facilities and I arrived late but they made sure I could get to my room. I have stayed here a few times because it is good value for money and I like it. I accidently booked a cheaper room which had very uncomfortable beds compared with the room I had stayed in in the past.

- Salvatore (9/5): - La posizione ideale per visitare la zona montagnosa.
- Victoria (7/5): - Easy check-in after hours; guest parking close to the rooms That I woke up from a loud noise behind my room and that the WiFi wasn't stable enough for me.
- Victoria (7/5): - Guest parking close to the cabins/rooms; friendly staff The WiFi connection wasn't stable enough for me.
- Fiona (8/5): Great place-fantastic views and wonderful bar area with nice setting and ambience. - The welcome and very helpful front desk on arrival.
Exceptional bar service and evening meal on site.
Breakfast was simple and set out.
The ease of access to room and accessibility to site. The bedroom is lacking some soundproofing between rooms. We could hear talking from room next door.

- Jaana (8/5): Historic place - Old historic building, view to the mountain. Hot tub wasn't well cleaned.
- Brian (9/5): Don’t expect 5* accommodation but this is excellent value for the money - The food was excellent. Had been “worked” but the price reflected that

Cleanliness Site challenge as limited mobility, but staff very helpful
Only 1 hanger for 2 people ⁸so
- Sue (7/5): Tiny but friendly town. - Expectation was that we were in a ski chalet and that's what it was. Nice little room, tiny bathroom. Still had all you needed. Basic. We met the lovely Amethyst, who was a lovely lady and enthusiastic to help and assist. The rain, but not their fault!! Unseasonable weather limited sight seeing, but if the weather was good, some fabulous walks to have.
