Prices are high especially not being able to check in until 4:00 so basically we paid $160 for very short time to be there look around a little bit sleep eat and leave the pool area is very small it was very crowded and the water was so cold we didn't even get in and my granddaughter couldn't even enjoy it it was so ice cold the pool area isn't the cleanest and the floors are very slippery in the pool room.. breakfast was just okay your normal continental breakfast the gift shop is outrageously expensive it was one of The lodges I had never been to so I can mark it off my list and I wouldn't go back there now if you're there for the Hatfield and McCoy trails it would be great place to stay...

Brandon (6/5): - Stayed for Labor Day weekend to ride. Hot tub was closed off and drained. Indoor pool was cold and dirty. Staff was polite checking in but not very resourceful for being native to the area. All in all I'd rate it a 3-3.5. Their website should let customers know about the status of facilities that are not usable. Whole reason we choose this place was for the hot tub and the quietness.
Nickellis (4/5): - The shower in the room 208 did not work. The tv did not work as well. After spending time trying to fix the tv I just gave up. I was staying here while working nights and about 10am the power went off and the house keeping staff were still going door to door banging and woke me up.

Katherine (8/5): - The checkin staff was friendly and efficient. The room was very spacious and clean. However, the breakfast was gross and disappointing. It was cold, and it looked dried out and old like it had sat for hours. The biscuits were hard as could be and the strawberry jam in the jar literally had mold growing in it. The syrup container was empty and when a lady mentioned it to the guy (who obviously wasn't doing his job very well) replied with a snarky comment. It's a shame, because we had stayed there a year ago and the breakfast was much better back then.

K Scott (6/5): Ok but skip the restaurant - If you have ever stayed in a government-run place before then you probably already know what to expect. It’s basic but functional. I will say that the restaurant has a lot to be desired! First night I had the meatloaf (which I ordered bc I thought would be hard to mess up). I ate 1/3 of it before I gave up. It was cold and not very good. I gave them another shot for breakfast on a morning that I didn’t have too leave early. Got biscuits and gravy which was flour on flour on flour. This was my last meal there.

Iain (10/5): Well worth staying here. - I'm always on the lookout for hidden gems when it comes to hotels. And this could be one added to my list. Location is terrific. Only a few minutes off the 119, or a leisurely drive through the State Park, this hotel offers more than ample accommodation and dining opportunity. Ideal for hikers and those seeking trail adventures, the Lodge is more than adequate to meet your needs. Pleasant staff and very clean.

Room key quit working several times Kids wanted to swim - we have the hotel until 11 so we packed up our stuff to check out but let the kids swim a little before left front desk lady super rude said if I had check we would have to leave after I said I was trying to let them have our room to clean we just want to swim, if you check out you can’t swim .. rudeness

My room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the Lodge has a relaxing atmosphere, while all staff are welcoming and friendly. I consider it a great place to stay, especially for visitors who enjoy 4- wheeling the Hatfield-McCoy Trails

Scott (10/5): - This is a beautiful hotel in a very quiet area off the main road but easily accessed. The staff was extremely helpful. Upon arriving our TV wasn't working, but a maintenance worker was at our door in just minutes and had the issue resolved quickly. We didn't utilize the complimentary breakfast, but it appeared to be much better than the average hotel. Highly recommend this property.

Bryan (10/5): Excellent getaway! - Our stay was amazing. This was a hidden gem. The view was so great. Loved our room with the fireplace. The trails were great and offered a range of levels of difficulty which I appreciate. The lodge restaurunt offered a variety of good food. The service and cleanliness of the lodge was great. Cant wait to stay again.
Steve (4/5): Poor accommodations - Lodge is way outdated.cafeteria food quality was poor Beds were in really poor condition I usually sleep on one side or the other never in the middle when I tried sleeping on one side or the other I would absolutely start to roll off the bed. Beds were broken down horrible when you go to a lodge or a hotel you go there to sleep so you know it was a one star forest I was concerned with the bed in the room.

Melissa (6/5): Overall Mediocre Experience - The front desk staff were very polite and courteous. The common areas of the lodge are very well kept. Nice comfy chairs beautiful views and plenty of room for relaxation. The room we were in was like walking through a time warp. As soon as we entered the room and turned on the dimly lit lamps we noticed a bug, that looked like a roach, climbing the wall. The desk chair had a serious rip in the side. The desk was completely beat up and old. The dresser was the same way. The walls had apparently seen some damage over time because they had patches where they had been repaired without painting the whole wall. The shower/tub area was very small. There was zero storage, other than using the vanity or floor. No place to keep my toiletries, not even a lid on the toilet. The tv was tiny and the way it was attached to the wall made it look even smaller. My family & I travel a lot and frequent hotels and this place gave off Super 8 motel vibes instead of a luxurious resort vibes, which really surprised us.

"Buffet" dinner consisted of chicken fried steak, chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, gravy, roll, overcooked mixed vegetables, a salad bar that had 3 items and 2 choices of dressing, and two pies that seemed to have been frozen at one point. This was the only choice available. The next night was a similar buffet and again was the only choice. Lunch buffets for the conference also left a lot to be desired. Front desk and maintence staff were very polite. The room was spacious and clean

Harold (8/5): - It was a very comfortable room. However, staying in the middle of March there wasn't very many people around. The pool was closed, but it was probably due to the season. Not very much going on around the property, they could add some activities for the early spring months.

I don't complain to a waitress but our food was not good, I ordered rice pilaf and go plain rice. our meals came out at different times and we ordered desert and it didn't come with apple butter... the air conditioning in hallways didn't work. I'm sorry to complain, but I remember the hotel from a few years ago and it was not like this... Thanks for letting me vent..
