Guest Reviews
- David (8/5): - We like this property and understand that it is soon to be completely rebuiltas it is sowing signs of age. Otherwise excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bali style hotel which is what we like service and staff first class very vood breakfast great location tv needs to sorted all asian channels but overall exellent stay would go back again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint, quiet, and cheap place to stay but the property is old and needs renovation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We have stayed here before a we new that the property was old but we liked the tranquillity, how close it was to the beach and the pool and gardens, but under new management a lot of the staff have gone, the pool was filthy and their were rats running around the eating area and the water was off most days. The manager did not get of his backside once to look at the pool and acted surprised each time we complained. we spoke to a number of holiday makers at the site, some who had been coming here for a lot of years and they all said . Never Again
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for... - Staff were very lovely and location was great. Hotel condition was poor and falling apart and linen although clean had lots of stains.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was run down & badly needs repairing. Pool was dirty. Lighting in bathroom was terrible.
- Georg (6/5): - Excellent location, now with Chinese owner who severely has to invest in facilities
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This was clearly a beautiful hotel but its new owners began demolishing it a couple of years ago with plans of renovation that have not materialised. There are abandoned site works completely spoiling the appearance of the hotel exterior to the point where hotel reception no longer exists and you check in in a dusty back office. However the pool area is still lovely, the staff are gorgeous, breakfast great, location perfect and the rooms are much better than I expected...just old. Water supply is not consistent but didn't have to wait too long.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was old and tired, would have been fantastic in its hey day but it is run down.
Staff were great very friendly particularly the restaurant staff
- David (6/5): - Lets be honest, this hotel is in need of major renovation, even knocking down and complete rebuild, but in saying that, the accommodation is clean, our room A/C worked perfectly (and quietly) bathroom adequate, as all facilities worked, but were dated, i.e. chrome flaked of tapware. The staff were friendly and helpful but number of staff was minimal, as you had to find a staff member to get a drink while seated around the pool. The location of the hotel is second to none directly opposite the beach. Neighboring hotels are charging upwards of $300-400 per night. Due to low cost of this hotel I would defiantly consider staying here again, as we had an enjoyable holiday.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The staff were lovely, but the property itself is very very run down. We booked for 4 nights but only stayed 1 due to the condition of property. We paid for 2 nights and got 2 nights refunded. It is more of a backpacker quality hotel. Lovely location so would be great if they renovated.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property is in poor condition it is undergoing renovations there are blue tarps everywhere the staff are rude and look like they are sitting in a lounge room rather than an office
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the poor "the sari beach hotel".has had its day, once a beautiful small hotel, now very run down and in need of urgent repaires. Really it needs to be demolished and rebuild to its former glory .
The staff you could fault keeping the place running.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The gardens and surrounds were absolutely beautifil staff were excellent place a bit run down pool spot on nice and quite close to beach
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This property is extremely run down. On arrival they upgraded us to a supposedly better room however it smelt strongly of mould and the air con didn't work. We decided to go back to the smaller room.
The staff were amazing and obviously doing the best they can with a property that the owners have just let fall into disrepair.
- Lisa (10/5): Little oasis ❤️ - Beautiful gardens, four poster beds, amazingly friendly staff and a little oasis in the middle of everything right opposite the beach. Will definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very disappointed...to say the least.....admittedly undergoing renovations but restaurant was closed at dinner without any warning
- Dianne (4/5): Renovation happening - Great location.Under renovation at the moment. We were not notified that this was happening.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location poor access - It's a nice location. Hotel hard to find .not suitable for people with mobility problems.would have liked a fridge in the room .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Overpriced old hotel, old and discoloured linen, towels old with holes and don't dry self. Short staffed , fuzzy tv with no English speaking channels. Restaurant not operating. But the lady cooking the breakfasts was amazing cooking and waitressing on her own most of the time.
- Sue (6/5): Great Location - We have always liked this hotel because of the great location and wonderful staff but unfortunately it's just being allowed to fall apart!
The wonderful staff are doing their absolute best to fix all the problems as they occur, which are many!
The gardens are still magnificent, which is one redeeming feature, others are fading fast!
I don't hope something can be done to make improvements soon, before it's too late!
- patrick (2/5): To be redonne before meeting people go in thin sur - Please dont go there
- bill/allan (6/5): good location - lovely old style hotel be much better when all the rebuilding is completed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful grounds!! Close to beach. I had no problem with my room and this included breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - My first thoughts were this hotel was lovely but run down. Location is great. With some better organization of this hotel it could be amazing if managed properly. The Gardening Man was amazing with a gorgeous smile. The lady that did the breakfasts was lovely. The pool was never cleaned so we didn't swim in it. The room cleaning staff were lazy. My room was not cleaned the day the Manager Ari was not there. I asked 4 times that day for clean towels and didn't get them. The next day we went out we came back at 1pm and our room still wasn't cleaned. So I went to see Ari and our room was cleaned with in the hour. It is ashame because it could be a fantastic hotel.
- Crammy (4/5): Not Happy - Staff didn’t clean room on Tuesday, no water, no towels. I asked 4 Times for towels didn’t get. Staff to busy playing games in office. Didn’t clean room until 4pm on Wednesday until I asked twice, no towels , no water, no toilet paper. Lots of Mosquitoes too. Just be repaired with bug spray & mosquito coils.
The hotel is old but little.
Ground staff the gardener was a beautiful friend ly person with an amazing smile.
The lady who did breakfast of a morning was lovely. Ari the manager of the hotel was nice too.
- Robert (8/5): - Loved the setting in quiet gardens away from the hustle and bustle of Legian, and the cooking was a delight. Biggest problem was finding the turning to the long drive off Jl Padma Utara at night.
- Steve (8/5): It’s a bit worn , but is great value for money . - Quite ,with beautiful grounds, pleasent staff, great location ,and great value for money.Right on the beach and a easy walk to all the Legian Beach eateries. It’s a bit worn but comfortable .
- John (10/5): Do yourself a favour. - Staff were friendly happy and very accommodating.loved staying here after moving from a sub standard hotel. Definitely will be back
- Robyn (4/5): RIP was a real gem - This traditional Bali hotel was a favourite of ours and it's basic room and facilities overlooked as the location, gardens and staff were great. However the gardens have been let go, the restaurant was closed at night, only one English tv channel on continuous rugby. The older staff have been replaced by trainees. Only stay if you inspect first.
- sash (6/5): Close to the beach - It’s quite nice coz it’s close to the beach but breakfast every day the same and facilities to old.
- Diane (2/5): Great location, that is all. - The staff are delightful, the room was ok, the shower was bloody terrible, flooded bathroom, we had the best room out of all the others we went with. Pool was dirty and broke down after 3 days of being there, still not working when I left. For what you get very over priced. Won't be going back there and won't be recommending to anyone. We are not people who want 5 star for cheap, I have been to Bali many times and stayed at Puri Raja, Beleka, Much better value than Sari Beach, very disappointed, I know it has new owners and they are to blame for the disgusting state this place is in. Feel very sorry for the staff, they are over worked as new owner removed half the staff. Best Spring Rolls and that is the only good thing I can say about the Sari Beach.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Taxis wouldnt drive down long laneway to hotel. Had to walk with case.
Pool went green and we couldnt swim, so went to next doors pool without a problem. Maint man was on his way.
Nice gardens, clean, friiendly, helpful staff.
Reception was a desk at bottom of a staircase.
Basic but tasty breakfast, fantastic spring rolls at lunch.
Was farely cheap, so get what you pay for.
No phone in room.
Great location.
- Lisa (8/5): Charming Private hotel . - We were given a free room upgrade as water pressure none exsistent in our room and sheets old and beige looking ! Could do with some major renovations to the building! Gardens were lovely and pool ideal with such friendly and helpful staff. Location perfect really right on beach and close to restaurants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hidden gem - I decided to give this place another try after a mess up by management last year and it was worth it. Hotel is an older more established facility and as such does not have the bells and whistles of the latest trendier places but has charm. Location, location! On a sweet spot of legian beach far from traffic and bars. Gardens and pool well kept. Resto not quite up to speed. Staff helpful. Not so many rooms so can get booked. I would return.
- Billie (10/5): - Staff were amazing and grounds superb. Has authentic balinese feel about it. Had an amazing stay there but is starting to look a bit worn. Beach location was great too.
- Andrea (10/5): Boutique hotel on beach - While the boutique hotel may be a little long the tooth, it is a gorgeous location on he beach with a convenient little pool, and striking Balinese architecture. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely little couples villa which was so nice. I would recommend trying to get the private villa that sits on its own.
- Tracey (8/5): Great beach location - Great location, close to really nice restaurants. Did not get hassled too much. Beautiful sunsets with added fireworks on the beach. Hotel staff were lovely and friendly. Would return.
- kate (4/5): Good location, very basic amenities. - The pillows were old, discoloured.
The shower was just a dribble will no pressure. The pool tiles were chipped.
The rooms were nothing like the photos.kate
- MJ (2/5): Nice gardens and good location but that's it!! - The rooms need renovating and a good clean. The bathroom was awful - leaking toilet, barely a trickle of water out of the shower, unclean. (I bought gloves and cleaning liquid and gave the place a good scrub). The deck chairs around the pool are filthy. I would not recommend this place. They need to spend some money on renovations.
- David (4/5): Amazing position, Massive shame about the rooms - My Stay at Sari beach was exceptionally disappointing, they have an amazing position with beautiful grounds, however the rooms are so badly dated, requiring massive amounts of maintenance and just not clean.
Nothing about my room was good except the air conditioning.
Also the WIFI was very spotty, in my room there was barely any signal, sitting outside sometimes i had 100% signal, other times, there would be no connection at all.
For the price i would expect so much better.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms are a Little bit outdated but they are putting new flat screens in all the rooms (tv reception poor and lack of channels, but we used laptop over hdmi!) with a bit of work/renos to the rooms will be perfect again! Needs better showers and some paint. Stayed here multiple times and keep returning. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the staff are friendly and excellent!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall enjoyed our experience there, staff were very friendly. Main complaint was that drinks were not cold enough and not enough variety.
- Bruce (8/5): Bali style bungalows on beach - This hotel is starting to age but the staff keep it clean and tidy. Garden and pool are great assets and of course it's 10 mts from the beach. So greatest points for me are Bali style and location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty hotel that needs refurbishment - The only good thing abt the hotel is the location close to the beach. Hotel needs cleaning. Dirty bed room and towels
- mark (2/5): Remove from your list -
Expedia should take this hotel OFF your list. I mean really, this place is disgusting. Brown filthy water spits out of the broken facet.
And I paid $70.00 a night for this place? You have to be joking. Even though I booked and paid one month in advance, they had NO record!
What's going on with that? It was an embarrassment. The worst hotel, EVER.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Handy to beach, nice pool - Room dark, staff not friendly except cleaner, food ok, but much else
- s (8/5): Old style, but beautiful - Staff very friendly, gardens lovely with a beautiful pool.
- Clive (8/5): Nice - One of the original beach side hotels. Terraced rooms in a small but nice garden setting. Rooms were a bit basic but clean, food and drinks ok and staff competent.
- AB (10/5): A hidden gem on the Legian beach front - Check in went well in middle of night.
Rooms servicing, restaurant, pool condition - all excellent.
At check out, and without any prior notice, we were pressed very hard to pay IN CASH ONLY for prior agreed late check-out (half day charge), the receipt for which was just hand written onto the bottom of our printed receipt.
