Guest Reviews
- Hydranger (9/5): Cosy B + B near to Hadrian's wall path - Coach house style B & B...near all amenities in Brampton.
Comfortable room. Powerful shower.
Cosy lounge area with honesty bar.
Very good buffet breakfast.
Excellent spot for local walking etc.
Niks.

- John (9/5): Comfy, clean and full facilities with a truly fantastic hostess. - Host was very accommodating. Provided local taxi information to travel to accommodation, booked a local bistro for me for my evening meal (excellent). Facilities were first class, residents lounge and honesty bar. Very clean and comfortable room. Buffet breakfast both hot and cold dishes. Location is on the ‘main road’ through the village and the traditional sash windows didn’t fully block out traffic noise (such as it was).
- Sarah (8/5): Very clean and comfortable, good breakfast, good safe parking, would come again - Breakfast was great - overnight oats, fruit and cooked breakfast options! Very clean and comfortable. Nice bar area to hang out in in evening with honesty box. Didn't allow one of our party to work in the bar area during the day after checking out.
- Jacqueline (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Nice family owned place to stay in a cute small town. - The owner was extremely nice and helpful. They had a cozy area around a fire to relax. Good location for seeing Hadrian’s Wall. The bed was too firm for me but that is a personal issue as many people prefer firm beds.
- Lindsey (10/5): Nice Break - All was very nice and the owner very pleasant
- Mark (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): - The owner, Dianne, is a dream host. She is so friendly and attentive, and runs the Scott Arms with grace and efficiency. It was a delight to talk with her and she was so welcoming to my 10 year old daughter who was traveling with me. The breakfast was fantastic, the whole property is cozy and welcoming, and there is parking for those who are driving Hadrian's Wall. We hope to return in a few years when we come back to walk the wall again! Nothing
- Gulmira (10/5): Wonderful - Diane and the Team were so welcoming and lovely. Really felt looked after. Thanks - Amazing, very clean as well
- Gerd (10/5): -
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect for what we were looking for - Friendly helpful staff. Gorgeous comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice Limited options of where to eat nearby on a Monday night but to be expected when staying in a small village

- Kane (9/5): Good location in lovely town of Brampton near Hadrians Wall. - Great location for visiting Hadrians Wall and the Priory. Lovely little town of Brampton to explore and where Diane the proprietor recommended us to eat at Howards Hotel, the food was v good and staff wonderful. Room, bed and shower were all v good. Breakfast was self serve with usual premade scrambled egg, sausage etc. NB it is only served between 8-9am. Diane was extremely welcoming and helpful and v informative. The accommodation is set on the main road through the town so you could hear the traffic in the morning, but did not bother us.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and clean . Large room. Dianne was super helpful .Tasty breakfast.

- Helena (10/5): A great stay in a lovely, comfortable, friendly property. - We've stayed in several similar properties recently, and this was by far the best. We had a lovely welcome, everything was communicated clearly and promptly, great recommendations were given for things to do and places to eat, breakfast was delicious, all in all the experience couldn't have been better. We will definitely try to book again if we're back in the area. Nothing, we loved it!

- Helena (10/5): Exceptional - Every need was catered for. Really lovely b&b.
- Simon (10/5): Would highly recommend and would love to return again. - We stayed whilst walking the Hadrian Wall path and were made to feel welcome and "at home" as soon as we met Dianne the owner with a lovely wood fire and seating area to relax around downstairs and refreshments available.
The bedrooms were very well appointed, nicely decorated with exposed beams and modern clean bathroom.
The breakfast was exceptional, the best we enjoyed during our walk and Dianne was super helpful in explaining how to get back to the path safely which was much appreciated.
The Mews is very close to shops and a chemist, a local pub "Howard Arms" provided a good evening meal.
- Ravinder (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): Unique and personal hotel in Carlisle - The hotel owner could not do enough to make you feel welcome. The whole ambiance of the hotel was warm and embracing and with an amazing breakfast too!
- Pat (10/5): - Very nice and welcoming place to stay
- Daisy (9/5): A snug and comfortable hotel - Large comfortable room. We left our boots by the fire so that they were dry for walking the next day.
- Judith (10/5): Brilliant 🤩 - Everything, welcoming, warm and atmospheric, just great, one of our favourite stays, thank you 🙏 so much. N/A
- Lucy (9/5): Superb - Lots of choice for breakfast.
Great for walkers
- Mart (10/5): Great and welcoming owner/host who compliments an amazingly well-restored 1600s B&B. - This is a challenge to answer. The Scotch Arms is a lovely 1600s building(s) that was incredibly well restored. (My partner is an architect, and he said the owners spared no expense in the restoration.) It was a delight to be in such a beautiful treasure of a B&B. The question is difficult to answer because complimenting the wonderful physical establishment is, Dianne, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable owner/host. She gives everyone a warm welcome. On this trip we are staying at 7 hotels/B&Bs, and the Scotch Arms stays in our minds as one of the best on this 20 day trip. Nothing to dislike at the Scotch Arms.
- Kerry (9/5): Superb -
- Dunja (10/5): Extremely helpful and friendly Hostess, everything from restaurants, pubs & grocery store a walk away - Extremely helpful and friendly Hostess, wonderfully renovated Coaches boarding house, excellent location, everything from restaurants and pubs to a grocery store all within walking distance.
- Martinenaylor (10/5): This will remain one of my favourite B&Bs - Absolutely gorgeous B&B in a Grade II listed building. Beautifully furnished. Very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. There's a well stocked honesty bar as well. The host was delightful. Location also perfect in the centre of this cute market town, close to a couple of pubs. Absolutely nothing I can fault
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming! Friendly atmosphere at all times. Secure cycle storage. Fascinating building, beaitifully restored. Highly recommended. Nothing. I liked all of it.
- Margaret (9/5): Superb - Friendly owner, comfortable room, excellent location. Nothing
- Lawrence (10/5): Do not pass the chance to stay at the Scotch Arms - The Scotch Arms is such an amazing place to stay. Dianne greets you like an old friend. The room we had was exceptional, everything has been thought of. Breakfast was served in a lovely room and the choice seemed endless, and so well prepared. There is absolutely nothing not like.
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): I was made very welcome and the staff were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend this place - Great location excellent facilities and very comfortable.
- Liz (9/5): Comfortable stay - Breakfast was great we would have liked an earlier option for breakfast but they didn’t do it on weekend.
Transport back to our start point for Hadrians wall was limited and expensive .
- Ian (8/5): would stay again but ask for a room on the courtyard side 👍 - an excellent host, very friendly, very professional, very keen to ensure we all had a good stay. nice BNM bar and lounge area, well stocked bar run on a
self serve basis with an honesty tab, settle up on departure.
A Very nice breakfast buffet with very nicely presented good quality foods.
They even have a cycle storage room 👍 and a customer laundry 👍 The only slight negative of my room was traffic noise. The windows are single glazed and my room was on the roadside of the property so I could here traffic, not that it was very busy, but when a car or van went by it was easily heard. I’m not used to traffic noise as we don’t live roadside.
other than that it was all Very Good 👍 👍
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Friendly, accommodating, homely comfortable setting. - This property greatly exceeded my expectations. The owners made it possible for myself to feel at home and welcome and also for me to have an earlier light breakfast so I could leave for work. It’s a definite I’ll stay again
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yolande (10/5): Lovely stay at Scotch Arms Mews - Dianne was super helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Her breakfast was really yummy, and we enjoyed that very much. The honesty bar was so unique - we had to have a drink just because we could! Not really anything. Our room was on the road-side of the hotel - very small town so hard to avoid that, I think. But even so, the traffic was very little right up until the next morning when we were getting up.
- Sylvia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Fantastic stay. Happy to recommend. - Everything was very clean and well presented & we had a really warm welcome from Diane. The stairs after a long day walking Hadrians Wall ;) Honestly, there wasn’t anything to not like.
- Karen (10/5): - Scott Arms Mews is a great place to stay when walking Hadrians Wall. It ticks all the boxes - lovely host who greets you warmly and takes the time to say goodbye too. Packed lunches are provided if you want. Rooms are just like those in the photos.
- Coletta (10/5): great place to stay when walking Hadrians Wall - comfortable rooms, great breakfast, lovely host (Diane)
- Angela (10/5): Walkers gem of a stay - Dianne and Colin were fabulous hosts, a wonderful b&b, lovely breakfast and the chance to have a pack lunch made for next day at small cost was brilliant. Would highly recommend. And thankyou for dinner recommendation it was delicious and brilliant staff..

- Katherine (10/5): I felt extremely well looked after during my stay. -
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely room, high ceilings, nice shower, comfortable bar and a great breakfast. What more do you need!
- Julia (10/5): Excellent bed and breakfast, we enjoyed our stay very much! - very nice location, good for walking the Hadrians Wall Trail, comfortable rooms, extremely friendly hosts. We especially loved the great breakfast buffet!
- Hazell (10/5): friendly, helpful, pleasant atmosphere from the hosts. With the rooms and facilities of a high standard in a renovated o - Booking.com nothing was all great
- Orestes (10/5): - The owner and her assistants are truly great hosts. The location is simply perfect to walk around the town and just a few blocks away from restaurants and pubs. The breakfast was very nice and hearty enough for the day’s walk. Somewhat close to Lanercost Abbey as the departure point towards the section of Hadrian’s Wall in Brampton
- Randall A (10/5): A Peaceful Retreat - This was the perfect spot for our first stop along the way to Edinburgh. After a long drive from LHR, we arrived to a warm welcome in a cozy, restored inn. Absolutely lovely with a fire, a cozy room and a welcoming hostess who answered all of our questions. The inn is located within walking distance to shops and local eateries. I would definitely stay here again. Just lovely.
