Guest Reviews
- Thomas (10/5): - Had a great time Karen couldn’t do enough for us would definitely use lismar guesthouse again
- Elizabeth (10/5): Weekend Break - We had a great time at the Lismar, everyone was very friendly and made us very welcome This is a lovely Guest House I would reccommend it very clean and a beautiful Breakfast and very reasonably price
- James (6/5): Not impressed - My arrival was intresting as key in door didnt work young girl managed to eventually get keycard to work . I wentvout for food came back and again key didnt work . No one in reception rang the mobile number on the door 4 times and no reply. I ended up sitting in my car for hour then frontroom of house for 20 minutes before girl came back to get room open again . So had to stay in room all night for fear door would not open again . Then at 1245am there was a roaring session with young lads shouting and stomping around place . Eventually tot back to sleep at aprox 330.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Went To Ireland With My Mum For My Uncles Funeral Needed A Room And Actually Cannot Complain It Was Spotless.
- Elizabeth (10/5): LOVELY PLACE TO STAY -
HANDY TO SHOPS
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy check-in, great breakfast, comfy rooms, near the city, across the road busstop and Tesco
- Philip (8/5): Recommended - Good room, nice big bed and excellent breakfast
- Laurien (8/5): - It was very clean. Breakfast was very good. There was a large tv with netflix access, a mini fridge, and a nice bathroom. The mattresses seemed sunken but the room was very spacious and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and very homely. The rooms were very large and the staff were friendly
- Annie (8/5): Only ok - On arrival the lady upon checkin didnt have any customer service skills or was she very friendly. Room was ok, a bit outdated but clean and comfortable, a good night sleep. the bathroom clean, breakfast was ok, a good selection of cereal to choose from, there is also option to have a full irish breakfast. This guest house done us for a 1 night stay but personal i would not stay any longer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not being able to get into property until 3pm had to pay for parking and hang around until 3
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The woman who greeted us upon arrival was very brusque, bordering on rude.
The room was nice enough, but stifling hot-it was on the top floor with only a door to a shared fire escape for air-not terribly secure to leave open overnight. The shower had a habit of turning itself on and off in the middle of a shower.
The room and bathroom were lovely and clean, and breakfast was quite nice. The woman who served breakfast was pleasant.
Overall, I suppose we would stay again but not in the same room, and perhaps hope for a more friendly reception. I genuinely felt that we were inconveniencing the hosts by checking in to their b and b.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly welcome when we arrived. As there was only on street parking the owner opened the back yard and allowed me to park my bike behind a locked door. The room was very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was extremely good. All in all a lovely stop over in Dundalk...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No off street parking ( as indicated there was ). You get what you pay for.
- Triv (6/5): - Parking hard to find.
Breakfast room is small ( max 3 families), needed to wait.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is excellent. We walked just down the street to the Windsor Bar and had an excellent meal and a pint. The town is very walkable with many restaurants and pubs in the area. I would highly recommend based on the location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff don’t speak good English every thing else is ok
- Kathy (10/5): Nice welcome to Ireland! - This was our first stop on our Ireland tour - staff made us feel welcome and the rooms were very comfortable.
- Sheila (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, food was excellent. The accommodation was good.As we came by public transport it was ideal, close to the bus stops and shops. The only drawback was the hard pillows but that was rectified when mentioned.. ,
- Margaret (8/5): Nice place to stay - Convenient location in the city, parking available on street, WiFi available and a nice breakfast- would stay there again
- Christopher (10/5): great little room for the price - great little room for the price
- Verified traveler (4/5): Fair - The staff were not friendly.
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic ,great location staff very friendly 10/10
- david (8/5): nice b and b close to town - nice room friendly staff and quiet and at night lovey breakfast
- Frank (10/5): - Good location with excellent Pub just round corner for evening meal
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Everything perfect, breakfast always same, if something different would be great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The only fault is you can’t check in till 3pm
Everything is excellent
- Edgar (6/5): Very unpleasant arrival - Very hard to review this place. We arrived at 1 p.m. to find the door locked and no indication as to when we might get in. (Yes, check-in was at 3, but you expect somebody to answer the door most of the day.) We left our car parked on the street and killed two hours walking in the town. At 3 p.m. the door was open and we were shown to our room by a lady who said we weren't allowed to park in the street and might have incurred a 40 euro fine (which will surely come to us through our rental car company later). By this time, of course, we had lost any possibility of seeing much of the town or the area in what we had hoped would be a free afternoon. Our hostess, who proved to be very kind, directed us to an area behind the building where we could park overnight, very convenient, more or less right under our room upstairs and at the back of the building. We wanted to leave at 8 a.m., before
breakfast service starts, so she promised sandwiches and juice that had appeared in our fridge when we returned from dinner that evening. Very very much appreciated! Our room was quite large and clean, with small fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee materials. The WiFi worked well. There were lots
of electrical outlets for charging. The bed was large and reasonably comfortable.
- Rich (10/5): Very friendly staff - The food was great the staff were very friendly. Close walking distance to everything
- Sinead (8/5): Will stay there again - Central location. Only on street parking which is not great but was ok for us as Sundays are free. We were right up the top of the house so 50 steps up. Great if keeping fit lol. Overall delighted. Comfortable, good brealfast and quite. Will stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bed and breakfast poor parking in a town not usually a place for tourists. There was a pub and plaza close by. Staff not freindly. Breakfast was fine
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great bed and breakfast - King size bed was very comfortable includes breakfast.
- Rob R (10/5): location location location - Great accommodation in a great location
- Maeve (10/5): Perfect B&B accommodation - We were in dundalk for the races and lismar had been recommended on our last visit. Couldn't have been happier. Arrived early and there was no problem checking in. Anka (I am guessing spelling) was a very welcome host and gave us a lovely room at the front with a very large bed and good amenities. The breakfast next morning was great. Fresh fruit, cereal and cooked. A very short stroll to the main town restaurants, bars and shops. I have booked again for my family, friends and I in November.
- jeanette (10/5): Lovely stay. - We stayed in lismar guest house for 4 nights . On arrival we were greeted by a lovely Bulgarian lady who assisted us. She gave us an apartment for our family as it suited our needs much more. The apartment was very good. It had the most comfortable bed and was very clean !
Breakfast was served each morning with a lovely range of products including cereals fruit and an Irish breakfast.
- Brian (8/5): Nice enough hotel, poor internet. - Lismar was a neat and clean place to stay. The only issue I had was that the in room internet was inadequate. I had a room near the dining area and ended up going to that area to get a connection.
- Geraldine (10/5): very comfortable and great location to all ameniti - very good experience all round. Would recommend and hope to visit there again
- Tatiana (4/5): - Room was ok but the staff not so friendly, disappointed in this b&b
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable and nice - Good location, pubs and shops in walking distance. Comfortable beds, good shower, and lovely host.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Value, Comfort and Handy Location - Value for money in a handy location to shopping and train station. Friendly service, big comfortable one bedroom unit with kitchen and good complimentary breakfast.
- David (4/5): Poor service/greeting - will not be returning - Was greeted by a lady who did not appear happy to see us, asked for money straight away and did not show us to our room. She could not even raise a smile at any point. Breakfast was very basic but okay. Room was clean and tidy but not very comfortable. All would have been fine but for the grumpy lady therefore will not be staying again, certainly did not appear grateful for the business. Parking was difficult but it was St Patrick's Day. Stay was with my wife and 2 young children but at no point did we feel welcome and could not wait to leave. It was a shock giving the amount of competition in Dundalk and there are many other hotels/B&B of better quality and service
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very Good - Very Good, I returned for a second night and both rooms I stayed in were very clean. The carpet was in good condition and clean. The furnishings in the first room were older but clean and in good condition. I have noticed many times that people mistake older furnishings for clean in their reviews. I received a very good value for my money.
- Alistair (8/5): Decent B and B - Comfortable town centre B and B, with good breakfast and would stay again if visiting the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fantastic location and great value - Our room looked nothing like the modern multi-roomed apartment that was pictured when we booked, however it did include a mini kitchenette and the room itself was very spacious so it wasn't a big deal. Plenty of space for suitcases and plenty of wardrobe space. The accommodation itself is located right in the town so almost everything is within walking distance. Can't rate the breakfast as it's between 8-10am and we weren't awake before then, however there are plenty of cafes close by. I would absolutely stay here again.
- Fred and Linda (10/5): Clean, friendly, and affordable - The Lismar B&B is within walking distance of the train and central bus stations. As a matter of fact, the buses along the coastal road to Dublin (100 and 100Xpress) stop half a block down the street. That makes Dundalk and the Lismar B&B a convenient base for regional exploration. Dundalk has a large number of good pubs and restaurant for a city of its size, and the staff at the B&B helpfully pointed out the best. On Market Square in the center of town, the Dundalk Tourist Information Office has a wealth of information on what to see and do, when to do it, and how to get there.
The B&B is clean and comfortable. The staff members are friendly and helpful, and they serve a full Irish breakfast each day with table service in the cozy and inviting breakfast room. The rooms are a bit cramped because the building is an older residence that has been remodeled and modernized. The facilities are clean and well equipped, including responsive wifi. The property is generally quiet and restful. The B&B seems to be divided into two facilities, one for tourists and one for long-term residents. All rooms open onto a courtyard in the rear and are linked by walkway/fire escapes. During daytime and early evening hours, long-term residents tend to socialize and picnic on the walkways and in the courtyard.
- Carol (6/5): - Older property, needs a freshening up. Breakfast nicely presented and cooked with fresh ingredients.
- Brian (8/5): Single traveller, overnight stay - Payment by cash/card required on arrival. Room just what I needed. Comfortable and spacious, and full Irish breakfast included - good value for money. Street parking only. Free between 6pm - 8.30am.
- Michael (2/5): Pleasant - It wasn't what we expected . We had booked the Lismara B&B. When we got there we were told we would be staying in another place. We were taken up to another B&B called the Glen Gat. The owner was welcoming and let us know what amenities were nearby. However the room had a double bed. We had booked a king size . I requested a second cup so I could have coffee. The stay was pleasant but the following morning we were woken to the sound of bottles being removed from bins. The Lismara did not appear as advertised and we were not given any explanation was tobwhy we were moved to another B&B.
- Barry (2/5): We don't honour booking. Highest bidder Wins €€€. - Had booked 1 week in advance on Hotels app.
Got a call from Limar at 6.20 PM to say they had double booked and my room had been given to someone else. Said they had arranged alternative accommodation at local guest house but this alternative guest house called me at 7.30 to say they had no rooms left. Dundalk was fully booked and only room they could find available for me was in Newry 30 minutes away. Called Lismar again but they did not return my call.
With a lot of help from Glen Gat Guest House I had to stay in a vacant apartment which was empty, which was not set up for tourists. Terrible way to conduct business. Shame on Lismar.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pleasant accommodation and easy staff to deal with.
