Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant place to stay - Everything was fantastic. We cannot fault the owners and the colleagues that took care of everything. The only minor fault, would be a lack of WiFi in the rooms we were in.
- THOMAS (10/5): - It was friendly and okay for a 1 night stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rooms were cold, wet room shower meant to get to the loo you had to walk through the shower. Shower temperature was non adjustable.
- Sharyn (10/5): Friendly welcome - Friendly and helpful welcome. We were given a room with a seating area as we arrived late afternoon. Spacious room and excellent breakfast. Quiet but overhead lights in car park shone into room at night.
- David (10/5): Highly recommend - Great place and great staff would definitely recommend.
- Christopher (4/5): - I’d booked breakfast, however on the final day no breakfast was available and no staff available to complain to. This was because the building including reception was all locked up.
- Darren (10/5): - Staff were very welcoming, very friendly and extremely likable
catered for my Vegan diet and the food quality was excellent.
highly recommended and I'll definitely be going back
- Steven (10/5): - Decent room, very nice owner & staff, very helpful, quiet setting, but close enough to loads of places.
Restaurant on site, good priced & food is excellent, breakfast was excellent too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lumb Farm - My stay at Lumb Farm was amazing the staff are so helpful, the food is lovely, I will certainly come again weather it is business or not. Thank you all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay. Very friendly and welcoming team.
- Alan (10/5): - Excellent location very peaceful and queit but mainly the staff were so helpful and friendly
Nothing was too much of a problem so will definitely return
- Mark (4/5): - The people here are lovely, but the room was absolutely freezing! It was 0 degrees outside but the electric heater in the room wasn’t enough to warm the place up and the bathroom only had a towel rail resulting in that room being even colder than the bedroom. Worst element of the visit was afterwards, they couldn’t give me a receipt on check out and said they would email it, have chased 4 times over the past 2 weeks, they never answer or return messages. I really didn’t want to leave this review as the people are lovely, but I need to get their attention somehow…. If they even bother reading this.
- sharon (8/5): Lovely little hotel - Lovely little hotel in a very quiet area, no noise from roads surrounded by fields. Very clean and spacious rooms and food good. Warm and cosy. Highly recommend
- Colin (4/5): Poor hotel - Poor facilities and bar/reception area
- Jessica (10/5): - Great place to stay friendly and polite staff nothing was to much trouble, food was lovely and a good price.
- Geanina (10/5): - Everything was spotless..definitely we will come back !!!

Perfect!
- Colleen (10/5): That Family feeling - Really nice and kind staff. Food is cooked fresh and yummy.
- Ian (6/5): Nice Place, Nice People - The welcome I received was very friendly by all for the duration of my stay. However on the first day the hot water wouldn't work in the bathroom. I reported it and the on site plumber told me it need new parts which she ordered. On the 2nd day, nobody bothered to update me and I wasn't offered to move to a different room so I had to wash in cold water again. It was a shame really because the room and amenities, food etc are very good (You do struggle to get a wifi connection in your room). It certainly wouldn't put me off from staying again as its a lovely venue.
- Andy (10/5): - Fantastic stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is superb, with plenty of parking, overlooking the green pasture. The rooms are clean and the staffs are friendly.
- Dorothy (10/5): - Lovely large room. Very clean. Excellent welcome.
- JUDITH (10/5): - Amazing stay,
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful and Special - The rooms are lovely, The hotel is in a quiet area set back from the road surrounded by fields. Lovely and quiet for some special time for me and my Partner. The food was beautiful and I recommend the Smoked Mackerel Starter SUPERB!!!! The value for money was great 4 star comfort for £58. We are definitely going back there again in the not too distant future.
- Robert (10/5): Great stay - amazing staff
- P (10/5): Great stay - Could not fault this venue, the owner and staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Dinner on the first night was delicious. The room was very comfortable with everything you need provided. Breakfast was again very good and all freshly cooked. Would most certainly stay here again when in the area.

- Emilie (8/5): Friendly, helpful service. - The stay was fine. I just wanted to thank Kendal for her care and service. She was friendly and very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A warm and friendly welcome on check-in! My room was slightly rustic but very much luxurious and spacious, with an equally spacious and luxurious wetroom. On a small note, I found the walls a bit thin, as I could hear male guests talking in a neighbouring room before I went to sleep. And I was disturbed by them very early the next morning.
(No breakfast eaten as it I didn't need it).
- Dougl (10/5): - A superb family run business, very friendly staff and great value for money.
Room was very clean & covid compliant. Breakfast & Dinner was lovely.
Would thoroughly recommend anyone to visit.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean. The room was warmed up for my arrival.
Even had a text message to welcome me and instructions.
Moreso, I could call if I needed further assistance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No frills just basic but excellent quality
Excellent breakfast
- Kevin (10/5): - Lumb farm for me is home from home.
Friendly staff that will do anything for you.
Great value for money
- Simon (10/5): 10/10 - Beautiful setting and beautiful people
- Ian (10/5): Couldn’t fault the room, lovely! - Really clean, comfortable and friendly hotel at a great price too!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely place to stay. Internet signal is not very good sadly.
- John (10/5): - Very private and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything about this property was first class the room and the fab breakfast couldn’t fault it at all will definitely go back there and will recommend it to anyone it’s absolutely lovely 😊 x
- John (10/5): - Stayed at Lumb Farm on numerous occasions .would recommend
- James (8/5): Great hotel with nice scenery - Stayed here for 10 days in total (2 weeks). First week was great as the room was clean and everything worked as it should. It's also a lovely hotel (definitely NOT a country club, more of a farm that's been converted into a hotel) with a nice bar and great staff.
Unfortunately in the second week my room was left open when i came back from work with the key still in the door, left by the cleaners. After going to reception and there only being a couple of kitchen staff around, i handed them back the key for the cleaners and they did apologise and were very nice. When i later went to pay for the room and mentioned the issue to the people on reception, they didn't really say anything and just asked me to pay and leave.... thought they may at least give me some money off or an apology... but nothing. Also the room in the second week had no wifi signal what so ever, but the manager did accommodate me and let me move rooms (try and get room 1 if you want wifi).
- Verified traveler (4/5): 4 stars ? - Why is this rated as a 4 star hotel?
- Simon (10/5): Will def stay here again - Superb. I was pleased it was a motel type room with car outside. Was running late staff super helpful over the phone ensuring everything was in order.
- John (10/5): Lumb farm stay over - Stayed at Lumb Farm on numerous occasions. Very comfortable rooms and very quiet. Well worth a visit
- Kevin (10/5): Hotel on the prairie - Great place to staff. The staff are what makes it feel like hone. They honestly can not do enough for you
- John (10/5): Top marks for Lumb Farm - We couldn’t have been made more welcome at this friendly, family run hotel and would certainly stay at Lumb Farm again when we are next in the area.
- Carol (8/5): Would go again. - A very good welcome, lovely, simple, clean room and an excellent breakfast. Lovely staff but there was a blip on day 2 causing a long delay for breakfast which they sort of blamed us for.
- Paul (4/5): - The room was cold the beer cloudy and the food was cold and on day 2 missed breakfast as kitchen was running 20 behind
- Tony (10/5): - Nice hotel central to visit Peak District and demby potteries
- Ben (8/5): Nice place - great views - Lovely staff very helpful. Had a couple of issues with room but the nothing the staff could have foreseen in advance so would not put me off staying again.
- Ann (8/5): Fine inexpensive B & B - Had a one night stay bed and breakfast.
Unfortunately the smell from neighbouring farm of muck spreading very unpleasant had to go out and buy air freshners
- Verified traveler (6/5): A few flaws but a nice place to put your head down - Travelling with a work colleague, we neeeded to pay for rooms individually but the person responsible starts at 9:30. Instead of calling me they took the money from my card. Also the breakfast was a tick sheet with nothing left out for self service. The food was also over seasoned.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly B&B in a rural location - Nice place. Off the beaten track with generous sized rooms.
Friendly well meaning staff who came from the local area.
Huge meals which left you feeling satisfied.
- David (10/5): All good - Good food, comfortable rooms, free wildlife for those who love donkeys, and friendly staff. Thoroughly recommended
- Vijay (10/5): Beautiful country break - My experience at this Charlie was amazing the rooms were exceptionally clean the bathroom facilities were very good the staff were very very helpful the food was excellent overall I would give it 10 out of 10 I would love to come back and stay here again
- Stephen (8/5): Business overnight - A lovely setting in fields just outside Ripley. Spacious rooms set away from the main building, with a great bed and a vey nice wet room bathroom. I must comment how helpful and welcoming Leah was, also as I was leaving before breakfast, I was offered a packed lunch instead, which I gratefully accepted.
- Claire (4/5): Nice cosy hotel but avoid the food - Hotel was ok, room was clean and cosy and staff were very friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t think the food was very good, the staff rectified my first meal but my replacement wasn’t much better.
- Lynn (10/5): Very friendly welcome - Very friendly staff, lovely room, comfortable bed and very quiet. Top notch vegetarian breakfast.
Happy to recommend and I will be going back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Overnight Stay. - Very friendly helpful staff. Good price for overnight stay and good price for food and drink.Clean room, bed could be better. Wifi. Good for overnight stay if in the area. Close to Denby Potteries
- Mr Jonathan (10/5): - Very welcoming and helpful staff. Very comfortable overnight stay and great cooked breakfast. They were quite willing to recommend a steak restaurant down in the village. Extremely spacious and comfortable double room. Quiet and peaceful setting in a beautiful spot.Thank you very much.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious room. Friendly staff. Nice location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff, caring for every need. Food is pretty good but not all homemade. Prepared with care and decent portion sizes.
Rooms are spartan but very comfortable. Major issue during summer months is light coming through door to room
- Andrew (10/5): - Excellent throughout. Staff are very friendly and service is faultless.
- Martyn (10/5): - Overnight stop but long enough to enjoy and appreciate what this hotel offers it's guests. We recommend this hotel to everyone
- Alan (10/5): - Nice quiet location and no traffic noise. Good food and friendly service.
- Simon (10/5): Beautiful Rural location - We arrived at Lumb Farm early but we’re still checked in and shown to our room. The rooms are excellent and the cleanliness is second to none. We were offered Sunday lunch which we accepted we had the amazing 3 course lunch which was cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of the local area. I think the only negative for the hotel is the fact that the restaurant ant bar are not open at night. Breakfast next morning was great as it was 10am which allowed us to have a lie in. We had a perfect break Thank You all so much. We will be returning soon x
- paul (10/5): Limb farm - Friendly staff quick check in nice food ,quiet location
- S (10/5): Great place, a must-stay if you’re in the area - Nice and secluded, it wasn’t busy when we stayed so the service was prompt and welcoming. Reception is the bar in the pub and that’s also where dinner and breakfast was served.
DINNER! It was delicious, freshly cooked perfect portion size and we sent compliments to the chef. Great price too, although not an extensive menu, there’s something for everyone and you won’t regret it. When checking in, you’re given a little sheet with tick boxes to choose your time slot for breakfast and which items you’d like to eat and drink, which is good. We were 15 mins late to breakfast but it was still tasty, freshly cooked, nice portion size.
Staff were super friendly; you can tell they felt comfortable and enjoyed working there. The room was outside (10-secs walk away) in a purpose-built brick terrace row of rooms with ensuite. Extremely warm, comfy and spotless. Very roomy too, not cramped like a usual hotel room.
There was a company work Christmas party that night, although only 11 people, they liked to party! They were on the other side of the main building, could only just hear the music but the thump of the bass line was audible till gone midnight! However, it was a great stay, I’d come back again and highly recommend it to others.
