Guest Reviews
- Aaron (10/5): - Everything was quite excellent. Spectacular sunset view from the personal hit tub. Manager was extremely helpful and guided us to a wonderful restaurant (Finikia). Somewhat difficult to find even though it is on the main road. GPS location from Hotels.com is not good.
- MARY ROSE (10/5): -
- Alexandrina (10/5): - I loved that you are somewhat outside of the city of Oia and the crowds. If you ask for dining recommendations there are some great hidden gems in the area of Finikia that we wouldn't have found otherwise. It gives a much more authentic experience and would have been a great place for a family to stay as well.
- Matthew (10/5): - Booked last minute for a quick 1 night stay and was very pleased overall. The owner met us for a late check in and was so nice and accommodating. Location was convenient a short walk to the best area on the island
- Howard (10/5): - This is one of the best properties we stayed at. The host is wonderful and very helpful in providing local travel tips and recommendations. The ocean view and sunset are fantastic and will stay here again if coming back to Santorini.
- Linda (8/5): - Vaggelis is fantastic. Very responsive, friendly, and super helpful. Family run business, charming.
- MILHAUD (10/5): Parfait !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved how well the owners communicated with us. They did such a great job of explaining the area and answering our questions. You can tell this family owned property takes tremendous pride in their work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at Alonistra Oia Houses! Vaggelis was wonderful and so welcoming, and he gave us a fantastic private tour of the island. His parents were also very sweet and brought us breakfast. We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it to all travelers!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The facility is amazing, the apartment beautiful, sparkly clean with your private terrace to have your breakfast with a stunning view
Just outside Oia so that you can enjoy the village without the annoying crowd
Last but not least the Host is simply the best one that you can desire when you reach a place for relaxing yourself,
Vaggelis arranged for us almost everything - transfers included - not to mention all the info about what to see in Santorini, beaches, and restaurants
More than recommended
If I will never come back there I will stay for sure in the same place
- Jessica (10/5): - This place was perfect for us! From even before we arrived, Vaggelis took good care of us. Check in was easy, everyone was so friendly. We had everything we needed in our cozy apartment, and enjoyed the evening on the porch. Vaggelis gave us recommendations on what to see, places to eat, took my husband to get some wine, his mom brought us a lovely breakfast, and his dad and sister drove us to our tour pick up point the next morning. Our whole experience was beyond our expectations; I wish we had been able to stay longer. Thank you, Vaggelis and your family, for a wonderful experience!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love here so much and had great times in Santorini thanks to the owner. The room is really tidy and organized and big enough and there is balcony outside where you can see the beautiful sunset and have a breakfast. It’s a bit far from center of Oia by foot so that you have to get a bus or it’s better to have a car to see around the island.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Geweldige ligging.
- Beth (10/5): - Great value for the price I paid. We were pleasantly surprised that we get a whole house. It looks like it comes straight from the Mama Mia movie with blue and white colors. It has master bedroom, a loft with 2 single beds (perfect for my 18 year old daughter), dining and kitchen area with a stove, refrigerator, dishes. The view is awesome and has a nice private sitting area to watch the famous Oia sunset, nice for eating breakfast in the morning and star gazing at night. It is a family run property and these people are wonderful. The breakfast is perfect. Vaggellis is very helpful and gives all information you need. He can arrange airport pickup and drop off. It is 25 minute walk to the town of Oia and the bus stop is right in front if you don't feel like walking although I highly recommend walking because the buses are packed especially if you are going back to the hotel. There is a really good restaurant accross the street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a great family-run hotel, and the owners are fabulous. We had an adorable 2-level guest house to ourselves. The view was amazing, making for a lovely breakfast on the patio. We went into Oia, which was a beautiful, and not very long, walk along the path that goes by the back of the hotel.
- Linawati (10/5): Highly recommended! - Wonderful host (Vaggelis and his parents), wonderful house and beautiful view of Oia. Vaggelis gave us lots of insights where to go, where to eat in Santorini, and how to go. Beautiful view of Oia from the house's balcony, especially during sunsets and moonrise.
- Varun (10/5): - This was a very unique experience for us. It felt like we are staying with our own family rather than the formal guest-host arrangement. Right from the get go, Vaggelis was very prompt in communication, met us at the airport for the transfer to the house. He oriented us very well with everything in Santorini on the first night. Vaggelis and his parents are the owners and caretakers of the property. They helped us any time we were having a hard time planning our next step. For example, on the last day, we booked a boat trip from 11 AM to 2 PM. Our flight was at 4.30 PM. Vaggelis let us leave our luggage with him and then met us at the boat trip place with our luggage for transfer to airport (of course, transfers are not free, but still very well priced).
About the house, it is very spacious and clean, in a very good location, with completely private sunset views. There is no need to go anywhere to watch sunset. It is a bit further away from center of Oia than I thought, but we were happy to walk this extra distance. The famous Fira-Oia hiking trail is 50 m from the house. We enjoyed all our breakfasts (made by Flora, Vaggelis' mom) while looking at views of Oia and sea from our private patio.
To Vaggelis and his parents - thank you so much! I really hope we meet again!
- Fiona (10/5): - Really worth the money a really pleasant stay. It is close enough to walk to Oia and I would highly recommend staying here
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming traditional Cycladic type houses with large private terraces. Lovely view of the area. The caldera walking path and local bus stop right out front. Amazing owners!
- Ronald (10/5): Wonderfully managed BnB by a caring family, a "10! - Wonderfully run BnB by a wonderful family. Vasillis, the son, spent an hour with us upon arrival going over the island, where to easy, what to see and what to do. Throughout the stay he was there if we had any questions.
Each day his mom made us a very filling breakfast and no request was asking too much. She was such a nice and kind person.
- Agnel (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Alonistra Oia House - The property is located close to Oia town. Each house is nice with a double bedroom, an upper level for two single beds, nice bathroom and a kitchen. The bedroom has a sea view. The property was clean and beautifully furnished. From the outside patio you can watch sunset. But you can also watch the sunset from a higher location adjacent to the property, which also leads to the Oia-Fira walking trail. There is a bus stop near the property to go towards Oia or Fira. Walking distance to the nearest supermarket. Imerovigli and Firostefani are beautiful places to walk around and the bus to Fira stops at these places. Vaggelis is an excellent host and he will provide the local information on arrival. He goes beyond expectation to help the guests. He dropped us at the airport. Thank you Vaggelis. The drawback of this property is that it does not have swimming pool. But Vaggelis can point to places where swimming pool is available.
- Dhruv (10/5): Very good location, excellent view of the oia - Had wonderful experience during our stay here, owner were very helpful with everything we asked and made our stay enjoyable. Would love to stay again at the same place when we go to santorini next
- Diane (10/5): Loved it! - Awesome!! We had a nice apartment and wonderful customer service! We would definitely go back!
- SK (10/5): Alonistra stay July 2018 - Fantastic location. Close to bus, just 15 mins to Fira. Easy walk to all the attractions in Oia but away from all the tourist taking photos. Amazing view of the sunset from your villa. Excellent service, would highly recommend and would return again! Thank you Vaggelis!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Magnifique vue, accueille très chaleureux! - Propre, confortable, chaleureux, vue magnifique, transport très accessible!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very happy to stay in this beautiful apartment - We've heard how Santorini is touristy and we might not like our stay but staying at Vaggelis' family's apartment was the best decision we have ever made. It is outside the main hub but within walking distance. It's very quiet, relaxing, very clean apartment. We love the space, the view, the cleanliness and the freshly prepared breakfast in the morning. The apartment is 100 meters away from the hiking trail & even if you don't hike, make it a point to walk uo 100 meters to be in awe of the caldera view. Most importantly, the kindness, the hospitality of Vaggelis, Miss Flora and Vaggelis' father were incomparable. They sincerely want to make you happy during your stay & cater to your needs. Vaggelis arranged our transportation from the airport & to the port. Made great restaurant recommendations & directions. We love this family and we wish them continued success in their family business. We ended up loving our stay in Santorini & I really believe that it's because of our stay at Alonistra Oia.
- Margaret (10/5): wonderful vibes - Fantastic view, great hospitality- couldn't ask for more
- arpit (10/5): Home away from Home - Alonistra is a beautiful property. Rooms are very very pretty with a big private space outside room. Place is close to oia shopping street and at the foothills of great hiking destination.
But this is not the best thing about the property. The best thing are the hosts vagellis and mother flora. They treat guests like their family and take a lot of care. We got great directions for local sight seeing on reaching, a homemade cake/pie for lunch and to our surprise, a souvenir while our checkout.
Couldn't have asked for more. Great going guys. Thanks
- Andrew (10/5): Simply Amazing! - We were lucky enough to stay here and Vagellis and his family were simply amazing hosts! From the pick up at the ferry to the end of our stay it was the best service possible. Location is superb as you can walk into Oia but not have to deal with the crowds and it’s very quiet at night. Everything within walking distance. Highly recommend!
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional service and value - The Mikelis Family went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable vacation. Vaggelis waited almost an hour for our late ferry to transport us to Alonistra, provided us with a great overview and history of the island, and was ready to assist us with transportation and activities. Our 'house' was spacious, clean, quiet, reasonably priced, while within close proximity to Oia. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Place - Perfect location as just a 10 min walk to Oia, so not tourist busy. Restaurant with live music only a 5 min walk to cap off a wonderful day.
Staff is great and very helpful.
- Alexander (10/5): The beauty of Oia - This is a perfect place in Santorini - beautiful location, just walking distance from downtown Oia. The family run place is a true gem of this island! The view of a sunset is exceptional and the owners (Vaggelis and his parents) would do everything they can so your stay experience becomes unforgettable. If you are thinking about where to stay, think no more as this place is the BEST one! Also, have Vaggelis pick you up at the sea port or airport as it saves valuable time and you receive a priceless guided tour on the way to this place. We would definitely come back here with no hesitation!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thank you waggelis and flora - We were a family of 4. House was spacious, location is excellent- bus station infront of it , a restuarant facing it, and on the main street near Oia. It has an extremely exceptional view at the top of the hill near it at sunset especially. What was amazing about this hotel is the warm hospitality and the feeling that we were among our family rather than strangers. A family runs this hotel , mainly Waggelis and Flora. They were extremely nice and always willing to help , offering help with everything ... We were honored to meet such unique people, if we ever go to santorini again we would choose this hotel for sure..
- Anastasia (10/5): Back for sure - This place exceeded expectations! Amazing service, great location right next to a bus stop and beneath the little church with a spectacular sunset view. Have stayed on the cliffs before but this place is better!!! Will definitely return! They pulled out all the stops to help me celebrate my birthday!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful - Perfect. Location is good. Flora and her son were just great hosts.
- Wade (10/5): Oia Gem! - This is a small, family run property. They take great pride in maintaining it in top notch condition, and their service is above and beyond. Vaggelis took the time to tell us all about the island and explained the various tours available, pointed out attractions, nearby shopping and restaurants and explained how the local bus system worked. He was always available to answer any questions we had.
This was the perfect location for our family. It is right on the edge of Oia, away from the crowds but just a short walk to the center of town. There is a path up the hill to a church, which is located right on the trail from Fira to Oia. Our apartment had a large patio with a very nice view.
- jay (10/5): very good - it's a family run business. they have four or five detached apartments. unit we stayed in had two stories, kichen/common area, washroom, outdoor dinning table, patio set, and two bedrooms. hotel is on slope of the hill, so each unit have excellent views facing north east. breakfast was very good. I had a rental car but oia to thera bus stop is right in front on the hotel. walking trail between oia to thera is a few steps above with great views.
- Anthony (10/5): Great views in a cute little house - One of the best places we stayed at in Greece! Beautiful little houses with spectacular views and each had there own private outdoor sitting area, wish we were there for more than 2 days.
Vaggelis who runs the property was super friendly and extremely helpful in giving us maps, suggesting places to see and eat and helped us set up an all day drinking to sunset catamaran tour which was beyond worth it! He also picked us up from the airport, it's like a 30 minuete drive.
The location hotels.com showed was not the actual location of the property though! On the website it showed them being located directly in the center of town. There like a 30min walk from the center of town and a 15min walk from the edge of town. Not bad but if we had not been picked up in the airport we would have never found the place based on hotels.com map. Especially at night!
Would absolutely stay here again though.
