- David (3/5): - I was not informed that I would be given a room that has a bathroom outside.

- Mc Sorley (10/5): It was perfect - I found it a.very relaxing place Nothing
- Rinaldo (5/5): It was a room, not worth the £70 - Was local Room was not very tidy, lot of trash behind the table
- David (5/5): Not good. - It was convenient to where I was studying. I paid for a breakfast that didn't appear and hasn't been available for some time! I would like a refund, please.
- Martin (3/5): Not impressed - Bed was comfortable Shower didn't work properly, leaked everywhere.
TV had no signal.
Stairs were difficult to climb.
Sink taps were very slow to work
- alex (7/5): -
- Darren (6/5): The location was good but the accommodation is small and basic - It was close to the top gear track where we had booked a super car day. The rooms were very small and very basic.
- Nathan (3/5): Location and staff are great but the room number 2 let us down - Location Shower didn’t work only freezing cold water
TV didn’t work
Bed was uncomfortable and could feel the springs in your back and felt like you were on a bouncing castle.
We have stayed at this property a few times now and the other room on the ground floor was great ( room 5 I think). This was our second stay in room 2 and had the same issues last time.
No staff onsite when checking out and pub doors were locked , no instructions re key so left it in the room door

- Amy (4/5): Nice staff, unclean conditions with poor quality of rooms - The staff were kind and helpful. I stayed for a night to travel to the university nearby and the location was good. Room was disappointing despite them kindly upgrading me. All of the towels were wet, I think they hadn’t been dried properly. These were on the bed which then made the duvet damp in spots. In the bathroom there was a soaked through floor mat with hair on it which had clearly been missed in the cleaning process. Sheets did not fit the bed so woke up in the night and saw what looked like a massive blood stain on the mattress. Sleep was terrible due to noises within the building (I assume washing machine on late at night). I arrived late and had to leave early so sadly did not get the opportunity to feedback to them in the morning. Ultimately could be an ok place to stay but need to reconsider cleaning standard. Again, want to reiterate that staff were very friendly and helpful in the pub, just unfortunate circumstances!
- Mc Ateer (10/5): Enjoyed this place better than a five star hotel and hit good weather - I stumbled on this little gem and couldn't have wanted better for taking time out to rest and recharge even just to sit up the back on my foldable chair and relax. I stayed an extra two nights. Staff very helpful. Nothing.
- Nigel (9/5): Good and Clean Budget Accommodation -Cheap for the Area - Good value. Clean. Services, facilities, very good parking, desk and wifi all as advertised. Budget accommodation but that was expected. Staff were friendly. Room was in a separate building from the main pub across the pub car park - no noise. I would have liked a breakfast option as it was a pub. A microwave would have been useful. Small stool rather than a chair. Stairs and landing balustrade were rickety. All minor issues though.

- robert (8/5): Brilliant a great stop over before my grandsons passing out parade further down the road. It's a gr. - Quiet, quant lovely place. Nothing
- Martin (7/5): Was good food was good. But booking.com charged me for breakfast even tho they dont do breakfast. And it is so hard to t - Nice property with nice play area and beer garden
- Jake (4/5): Not worth what I paid - Nice pub, although drinks and food are pricey. Accommodation was cramped, poorly lit, and freezing cold with only a blower heater to just take the chill off.
The bathroom was accross the hall from the main bedroom. The entrance to the accommodation was shared by the rooms above meaning that our bathroom was right by the main entrance. Very uncomfortable coming accross the main entrance in a towel after showering etc.
The hot water was sporadic, one min scalding hot the next freezing cold. The shower also stopped midway when showering.
The bed was really uncomfortable, and right up against the wall. Causing claustrophobia for the person (me) sleeping that side of the bed.
If I had paid half the price I paid then I wouldn't complain. Generally its an old building and I like some of its charms. However I think for £50 a night i would deserve an en-suite bathroom and some decent heating.
Even major budget brand hotels such as travelodge and Premier inn offer cheaper nightly rates and can still offer better facilities for less money.
- robert (8/5): Great hospitable staff. A little out of the way. However, great closeness to golf course and suipass - Quiet out of the way quaint old building Nothing
- Jacqueline (9/5): Outstanding Staff - Amazing customer service The pub was lovely breakfast amazing
- Darren (8/5): - Staff were excellent and the food was excellent in the pub. Room were a little rustic but bed was comfy. Shower was a bit low on pressure
- Andrew (1/5): -
- Carl (9/5): - Location
- Marian-jan (8/5): Krótki pobyt i rano wyjazd - Dobre położenie blisko drogi do Guildford Nie mam zastrzeżeniem parząc na cenę
- Alison (10/5): Good value for money - Rooms were clean and spacious. Shower was good. Food was lovely and staff very friendly. Will definitely be booking here again The modern but cottage. Accommodation. Was a good combination. The pub was really nice
- Queen (8/5): -
- TERRY (10/5): Completely fulfilled my needs. - Location was perfect. I have family in Godalming so expect i will stay there again, but didn't have breakfast as I was invited to eat with my family. I did however eat in the evening, which was very good & nice atmosphere. The stairs to the upstairs bedroom. I dare say had i mentioned it, I may have been offered another room. It was just unfortunate on arriving that I had to go to Guildford Hospital. I didn't return until very late & thought I would leave it. I liked the bedroom but at 78yrs the stairs were a challenge.
- Mark (4/5): - The bed was comfy The room was freezing even with the radiator on.
The room we were given did not match the pictures on the website. It was dated and tired. There was no privacy, even with the blinds closed you could see directly into the room from the carpark.
The food was below par, the evening meal was all clearly cooked from frozen, nothing fresh.
The breakfast was terrible. I ordered the big country breakfast and when it arrived half of the ingredients were missing and had to be asked for. The bacon was so over cooked it shattered like a cheap plastic ruler and the other ingredients were poor quality.
- Oli (10/5): Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area! - Loved the dinner, very reasonable price for really high quality food, perfect for 6 lads after a long hike in the area! The barman and waiter were incredibly friendly and made our stay even more enjoyable, both were very attentive, friendly and funny. N/A
- Olga (9/5): A very clean , quirky & historic property. You cant expect perfection in such an old building . - The bedding felt & looked beautifully fresh Could only get luke warm water in the shower, no hot water from the tap & the light over the sink wouldnt work but as it was only one night and it was so clean, I wasn't going to worry about it. As I was in a hurry in the morning, I forgot to mention it when I handed my key in. I was in the 1st floor single room, 5 I think?
- Roger (8/5): Comfortable, friendly and value for money. - The staff, the welcome, the ambience of the bar. The rooms in the cottage are a little tired. The toilet in room 3 may be slightly blocked. It filled very high when flushing.
- Edyta (10/5): -
- Pauline (2/5): Cannot fault the restaurant or the host but the room and bathroom just needs complete refurb - Breakfast was very nice the food is always very good there as have eaten there a few times. but first time we stayed in accommodation Didn't like not having ensuite .the bathroom is terrible and desperately needs new bath and shower.
Also not able to lock front door at night and being right next to pub didn't feel safe also the gap under the door into bedroom is very large.
- Richard (6/5): -
- Jenny (10/5): Very good value and excellent food - The quaintness.
Friendly and helpful staff. Room a little cramped but cosy and clean
- Andrew (7/5): Perfect for where I needed to be. Lovely place. lovely staff. A little maintenance needed. - The Staff were very helpful and very polite. Lovely place, plenty of parking. I will Defiantly stay again. The Shower worked but water poured out of the bottom of the casing which was a little worrying given its electric.
The Basin tap was very loose.
I stay away a lot, so I eat a lot of cooked breakfasts and would have to say this one wasn't great sadly. A tiny tasteless Sausage cut in half long ways to give the impression of more on the plate, tiny peace of bacon could not be considered a rasher. eggs that looked like they had been cooked in yesterdays used pan.
I was surprised given the name "Heavens Kitchen" I would be slightly apprehensive to eat here in the evening given the breakfast.
A shame because overall it was a very well run and hospitable place. The staff were lovely and very helpful! The setting was stunning with woodland footpaths leading to Godalming very convenient.
- Chris (3/5): Very poor and will not recommend, notes above sums it all - Location to workplace, quirkiness Towels dirty, one light not working, remote not working, power supply for tv unsafe and dangerous, no hot water, bath plug huge amounts of dirty sealant, walking across open doorway to bathroom does not constitute as private, breakfast not until 9am and wasn’t clear when booking so paid for but couldn’t use.
- Eales (4/5): - Food was lovely Mattress very soft, could feel the springs, very uncomfortable. I did not sleep a wink. For are very thin we could hear upstairs walking around and having sex. Shower was also blocked and needed to get a plumber
- Scott (10/5): -
- Evelyn (5/5): Wouldn’t stay again but the food looked lovely - Breakfast was good the lad who looked after us was very obliging The door wouldn’t open or close properly because the bed was in the way
The bath had rust around the plug area also we had to go across the corridor to use the facilities
The outside door was left open so you could see the car park if you used the bathroom
- Laura (6/5): -
- Paul (5/5): Below average - Good Breakfast Dinner
- Alison (7/5): It was passable as only there 2 nights. - The helpful young man at the beginning of my stay, taking time off from uni and originally from the Isle of Wight. TV had to have channels reset and remote wouldn't turn the TV off (told staff). Also told them about problems with the shower head which kept slipping down its holding pole. Room wasn't serviced overnight so had to ask for coffee, milk etc and toilet rolls when i got back for my 2nd night. I don't mind the bed being left so much but should have more than half a toilet roll in the first place and definitely replenishing of coffee etc. Imperative. Also ate in the pub restaurant both nights and for what I had found it very expensive.
- Duncan (8/5): -
- Alan (10/5): VFM. - Always welcoming, great food.
- Richmond (8/5): -
- Peach (1/5): Pretty rubbish - Convenient location for A3 Freezing freezing cold and so tiny tiny small, clean sheets etc but lumpy old mattress and a tiny blow heater
- John (8/5): - The heating in the room could have been better
- Mike (7/5): - Good location for me. Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water. A bit basic, and could have done with a better heating system
- Mark (2/5): Get the basics right - No hot water and toilet wouldn't flush. You need to get the basics right
- Adrian (6/5): -
- Christopher (4/5): Not recommended - Friendly and helpful staff. Finding a wood louse in my bed! Strange smaller unidentified creature in the shower area!
- Frankie (8/5): -
- Jacqueline (2/5): - The room was in an adjacent building to the pub. The room was small, cold and then we discovered the bed was broken. The manager told us he had no other rooms available, he offered us our money back but that was no good without somewhere to stay. Finally,he made us a booking at an hotel 15 minutes drive away, The Hogs Back Hotel, which incidentally was absolutely brilliant but it meant us driving in the dark, which my husband has difficulty with. In all honesty I could not recommend the squirrel inn in Hurtmore to anybody.
- Neil (5/5): Enjoyed my evening meal but good job I was alone as bathroom facilities wouldn’t be adequate for more people. - Convenient location for me. When flushing the toilet had to wait for water to the sink . Not enough pressure.
Shower was poring out more water from the overflow than the shower head .
- Lucy (10/5): - Food is really good
- Nadiyah (4/5): -
- Marek (10/5): Great stay, we would definitely come back! - The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and always smiling. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, with beautiful design and a great location. Everything was fine 😊 we have no complaints.
- Greg (3/5): No WiFi available in the rooms, bed was very uncomfortable -
- Jon (1/5): Small filthy room. Exorbitant drinks - One dish on the menu Scallops Room was absolutely tiny. Filthy. The shower was a cubicle in the corner. The room smelled of mildew and damp. It was cold with only a small heater. The mattress had bed springs poking through.
Drinks were ridiculously expensive £16 for a G&T
I question the safety of the electrics
- Barry (9/5): - The hospitality was perfect.
- Anthony (8/5): - Location near to my relative The water in the bathroom was either really hot or really cold
- Marbeka (8/5): - A surprise find. Convenient to my purpose of visit. The room was in the building next to the outdoor crowd area. But it's ok, as I was too tired to mind.
- graham (9/5): Good 2 days stay staff very helpful. - Breakfast met my and wife needs Having to go home
- Lucy (10/5): - Very helpful staff who kindly allowed me to have the key before check in time to accommodate a late London show.
Quirky single room, perfect for one night. Very low water pressure in the basin but this was reflected in the price.
- David (4/5): - Good pub. Easy to find.Friendly helpful staff. Served a good IPA. Comfy bed. Good wifi. Room was quite small. No seat for the desk. Not the fault of the venue but that night the council/highways decided to carry out extensive deforestation next to the A3 about 200 yards from my room. Chain saws and extremely loud branch munching machine from 10.00pm until 3.00am. Hardly got any sleep. Guess I just picked the wrong night!
- Gail (2/5): - Bed was comfortable Shower was dreadful Electric shower either freezing cold or boiling hot. . We had 2 rooms so trued the other shower mixer tap and it was the same . Freezing cold shower .
- Needs (2/5): Woken with doors baking loud . And every time the guy in the next room used the bathroom. - The bed was good but the shower was held together with elastic bands it ranged from really hot to freezing cold when set on warm. The cleaners took my tea bags on Thursday. I don't drink coffee hence I Carry a large bag of rea bags. The doors banged as there's no soft closers. Not a good experience.. no designated parking for hotel use. When car park full you have to park on road side See above the guy in the next bathroom I could hear every time he used thee bathroom. You could hear everything. Loud bangs as people came and went as the doors have no softeners on them. No designated parking so if restaurant is full no parking by your rooms. And very noisy as people leave.
- Melissa (6/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): -
- andrew (10/5): - Room was small and compact, nice shower, food in the pub was really nice, very quiet at night. Nothing
- jeff (5/5): - Good food Bed was not comfortable. No shower tiwels in the room when we arrived
- Nicola (4/5): Not good. - No pillow cases on pillows and was too late to ask when I realised.
Couldn’t have any breakfast as it didn’t start until 8.30am and I was leaving at 7.20am to get to funeral. No alternative offered.
No water in room and tap water tasted awful even when boiled.
- Amiee (5/5): A bit rough around the edges. - Very cosy feeling. Good location and easily accessible. Duvet and pillows were lovely. Ceilings and door frames were extremely low which my tall partner did struggle with. The room wasn’t overly clean, it was quite dusty and the bathroom window was smashed. The toilet flushing was very temperamental and the shower had very poor water pressure and water kept going hot and cold. The tv was tiny, and the lighting in the room absolutely useless with one of the 2 small bulbs we had not even working. Bed extremely creaky and felt unstable. It was an ok stay for one night but I would not want to stay any longer there.
- James (8/5): -
- John (10/5): A good overnight stay. - We have stayed here before. The food is fantastic and the staff very friendly. Just off the A3 but you wouldn’t know it. It’s situated in a lovely dell with trees all around. The bedroom was comfortable and had all you need for a good night. Shower over the bath is not the best for the older generation. About time it was taken out. Loose toilet seat and faulty tv.
- Cameron (7/5): Warm welcome in a comfortable hotel/pub - The staff were without exception excellent, the chap who helped us in check-in on the Saturday morning couldn't have been more helpful.
Our guest room despite being on the small side was cosy and comfortable and ideal for a one night stay. The bathroom would benefit from some renovation, but was perfectly functional to use.
Breakfast meal was a skillet based dish and needed much more cooking,
- Alan (8/5): Cheap & Cheerful - Excellent staff, located close to work. No TV
- Amy (7/5): Charming cottage to stay in for a night or two and I recommend the restaurant breakfast also. - We picked up the keys a little early, having asked the day before if this would be possible so we could drop our bags off. We appreciated the flexibility. The keys were available from the bar of the pub/restaurant.
The rooms were small but interesting with enough mirrors, which was helpful.
The breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Everybody who worked at The Squirrel Inn was very friendly. My husband said that the shower in his room had some mould. I couldn't get hot water to run in the basin, though the shower was fine.
- Liz (3/5): Wouldn’t stay again - The room was very basic
- Tanya (7/5): I would stay here again - Nice location. Good value. Converted workers cottage so very quaint. On the site of a pub/ restaurant with good food. Friendly staff. Small room but fine for 1 person. Very poor water pressure in the shower. Was unable to have a shower while I was there which wouldn't be a problem for one night but not great when I was staying a couple of days.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were friendly, food was really good, room was comfortable Nothing
- Martin (3/5): Not the best -
- Khadija (9/5): Comfortable stay in this little location off the beaten path - Hosts were super friendly and the room was simple, but comfortable and clean. Had a kettle to make yourself a coffee in the morning, and heaters in case you got cold (luckily I was staying in warmer weather). The breakfast was exceptional, with some really good options for different tastes and needs. I didn't stay for dinner as I had somewhere to be, but the roast looked insane! The lighting wasn't that powerful in the room, but it didn't detract from the overall comfort. The bathroom toilet would make a 'water leaking sound' for a while after flushing, which could be disruptive but I didn't mind it so much.
- Martin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Geoff (7/5): Good - Staff friendly and efficient. Food nice No hot water in our room for the duration of our stay
- Valerium (9/5): Lovely one-night stay - Excellent food. We had chicken skewers and vegan burger and both were really good. Staff were very helpful. Quaint, old building. Nice walks nearby. Quiet countryside. Low ceilings were a bit of a problem but only to be expected in such an old building.
- Darryl (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Ann (6/5): We did enjoy our stay at the Squirrel Inn & although there were some issues, the rooms overall were comfortable for - The staff were pleasant & the food was very good (we had dinner & breakfast). Checking in & out was very easy & there was plenty of car park space One of the rooms offered to us had a broken toilet seat, it was lodged down the side of the pan. When it was pointed out we were told it couldn’t be fixed for our stay as there was no maintenance person available. This must have been noted by the cleaner or by the previous room user so not sure why it wasn’t fixed prior to letting the room. We were given another room, however the bath had a very brown rust-like stain around the plug hole, not sure why that hadn’t been dealt with prior to letting the room out as it was very noticeable & wasn’t very pleasant to look at. The shower cubicle of another of the rooms we booked hadn’t been cleaned properly, the water nearly overflowed the shower tray during use. After checking the plug hole to see why, it was found to be clogged up with masses of hair, clearly the cleaner had not checked this when preparing the room for us. The landing bannister balustrade on the first floor was very wobbly & unsafe, if anyone was to lean or fall onto it, it would likely give way very easily & cause serious injury.
- Helen (1/5): Our experience was less than poor, we will NOT be returning or recommending this venue - The staff were welcoming however told us the room wasn't quite ready - that wasn't a problem as we ate in the restaurant which was reasonable although tired looking and had sticky tables. I can only stress my concern on what our room/bathroom was like before we were handed the key - I feel as if we were unexpected guests and "Squeezed" into this room - you will need to read my comments in the next section to understand this comment. The room "looked ok" (room number 4)- however in the bathroom there was a huge amount of damp/mould on the walls and looked as if it had been painted over? We believe could be a serious health issue. There was only a trickle of water from the taps which took several minutes to warm, a shower was not possible. We were going to a friends party and fortunately had showered etc before we left home, there was no time to check/discuss with the staff. We discovered the noise from other rooms was incredibly loud and although we appreciate you have no control over the noise of others - the rooms and any sound insulation is the managements responsibility. One guest spent the night in his car which was parked outside our room. The noise was so loud and constant we left the room around 5:30 am after little or no sleep. We did not stay to shower as this was not working or possible - we did not stay for breakfast even though we had paid for breakfast via the "room rate".
The reason for our stay was as mentioned to attend a friends party - we chose this hotel for its location - we did not expect to have to leave enough time to check walls, plumbing, noise insulation prior to leaving for the party. We had paid for the room prior to our arrival including breakfast which with hindsight is something I will avoid in the future. Had we stayed to "enjoy the area and surroundings" we would not have stayed.
Unfortunately we did not take any photos.
I will contact the hotel direct to share my comments and feel that Booking.com may need to review their situation with this venue or risk their own reputation.
- Graham (8/5): Very good - Staff very attentive & helpful, location lovely food very good. Would visit pub again but not stay. Couple of bathroom issues. Only stayed 1 night so reported next morning. Loo seat not affixed, a lot of black mould to one wall & tile grout black so very damp & odourous. Fan no effect.
- Evans (6/5): Pleasant -
