Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): - All was fine , but the reception guy couldn't, find my name at first.... š
- David (8/5): Friendly hotel with helpful staff. - Elsinore Hotel was for an economical stay in a relaxing, friendly, helpful hotel. Continental breakfast was not until 8.30 am though included in the price.
- Glyndwr (4/5): - The photos on website was false there was no brekfast as such no bar no atmosphere at all
- Ruth (8/5): Will stay again - The room was a great size with plenty of room. Breakfast was continental but was enough and poached eggs good. The hall carpets are old but rooms are fine.
- Joel (4/5): - Thereās a reason itās the cheapest in the area. Very basic but was clean so canāt really argue.
- Claire (6/5): - The hotel was in much need of some TLC, looking very tired and dated. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfy. Breakfast was plentiful but basic and the eggs weren't very hot when served.
- Dara (8/5): - Staff were friendly. Had lovely new bathroom in bedroom. Room was dated but comfortable.
- Kelly (2/5): - Arrived as a last minuite booking. Was awake all night with birds and rats/mouse scurrying around the ceiling. The shower mat and shower was filthy. Mirrors streaked and curtains hanging down of the rail.
Breakfast was cereal options and egg (all varieties - but one choice) on toast. There were leaks from the light fixtures in the dining room dripping into buckets. 3 staff members went to all the tables to take the breakfast order. I was a table of 1. Hotel run down and dingy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable stay but very rundown in areas - Lovely friendly staff, comfortable stay, hotel overall is very dated and rundown in areas, was woken alot by creaky floorboards and noisey guests.
- James (10/5): - Clean comfortable room with a view of the seafront, facilities were basic but perfectly functional - we didnāt eat at the hotel - there were many available restaurants available in Llandudno - we had a good stay and I would certainly stay again š
- Steven (8/5): - Satisfied with our stay. On booking Elsinore took the money three times for a one night stay, still waiting for a email from the manager to resolve this problem.
- norman (6/5): - Didnāt like the general appearance of the hotel
- Geraint (2/5): - Food service was crap. Waited 45 mins for pouched eggs which by the look of the other people they were hard boiled with no running yoke. We left after waiting 45 mins for food and went else were to pay for food.
Second day we did not get offered tea or what food we wanted.
Room had a step to go into the bathroom which was not marked on the floor and only had a very small sign on the door below the handle which was a job to see what it was. Broken wardrobe,Bed were two singles pushed together. Sellotape on the cracked windows.Waste pipes running down the wall of the room and you could hear who was using the toilets above us. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK AGAIN
- Patrick (2/5): terible - worse hotel ever stay in room was basic bed was terible carpets were ripped and torn throw hotel never stay there again
- ROBERT (8/5): - The room was clean, but the mattress needs renewing, as the springs were begining to come through, continental breakfast was good, staff were nice and attentive, needs a bit of a pint job through our and new carpets on the stairs, but was clean.
- Malcolm (2/5): - When we left the following morning
- Vikki (10/5): - We actually stayed at The IRIS hotel as Elsinore was under renovation following storm damage. We were upgraded to a sea view room at The Iris, with a gorgeous huge bay window with the pier in sight.
The lady at reception was lovely and friendly. Breakfast gentleman was also so mannerly and friendly. Everything was super clean, but cosy. This cost us £53 inc continental breakfast, for two. Superb value for money.
- Michael (8/5): - Staff very friendly
Great location
- alan (10/5): - Room big clean shower excellent good views from windows only niggle mattress a bit to soft for me but overall exellent
- Elaine (6/5): - It was very basic but clean enough , suitable if youāre on a budget
- Lauren (10/5): Great location - A great location and a great stay!
- a (8/5): - the b+b was lovely we had a sea view room, close to the town, enjoyed our stay beds were very comfortable
- Andrew (8/5): - Was a lovely nice clean hotel on the sea front
- Anthony (6/5): - Great location, rooms were clean and staff was nice. Beds were terrible, not comfortable at all. Breakfast was crap and was priced too high for what you get.
- Rihab (4/5): Disappointed - Receptionist wasnt helpfully at all u talk to him u was looking the ither way and talking back. Hall way was leaking from the ceiling, curtains as u can see doesnt cover the window and couldnt sleep from the light . So not happy
- Michelle (10/5): Great value - Lovely location great price would definitely stay again helpful staff
- Laura (8/5): - The entrance and public areas are dated in need of update but room was lovely with everything i needed and the hotel is in a great position... great for a night away you only need a bed !!! In a great location for the price !!
- Edward david (4/5): Disappointed - We appreciate that we may have not booked in on basific time scale, could do with night staff to cater for late arrivals. Did phone for assistance using mobile number available, but staff did not respond to our call, we had no alternative but to stay and sleep on the red sofa in lounge, felt uncomfortable with this outcome. No staff around early morning either.
- Michael (8/5): - Hotel is in need of a refurbish but our room was nice and clean. Friendly staff.
- Samantha (2/5): Do not recommend, will not stay again - Stained bedding and furnishings
Dirty glasses
Bathroom not cleaned
Window didn't shut properly and radiator didn't work so the room was freezing
Stains on walls and obvious water damage staining
Carpet and skirting board clearly been chewed by mice
Damage to bathroom door so had to slam it to close it properly
No breakfast despite this being included in the price
Ni wifi at all unless you ask for the password which only works if you are sat by the reception
Needs a complete revamp to the property as clearly old and deteriorating
If i could have had a refund and stayed elsewhere i would have
- Roger (8/5): - Staff were friendly, room was large warm and clean
- Nathan (6/5): - Was just okay.
- Nicholas (10/5): Pleasant staff, clean room - Pleasant snd helpful staff, clean room and hotel
- Emma (2/5): Poor and misleading - We booked our stay based on location, cost and with breakfast included. Breakfast was not included or discussed when we booked in, the morning receptionist dismissed me when I asked about breakfast and told me ābreakfast is never included loveā I felt offended.
I caught my foot on a loose tile on the steps Of the hotel on my way out in the evening it was sharp and as it was dark and not very well at the entrance, I didnāt see it.
The room was clean enough but there was quite a lot of dust on the furniture. The taps ran brown water for a few minutes when we turned on the taps and there was a strong smell of cannabis from the adjoining rooms. After we departed we received a quite intamidating email to tell us we had to vacate our room or be charged, despite the fact we had left over an hour ago. We did receive an apology for this but after visiting another hotel down the prom and the price being £20 more for a much higher standard bed and breakfast we feel really disappointed and that our stay was misold to us.
- Steven (8/5): - Not told when checking in that breakfast needs to be booked by 5pm. So as didnāt check in till 6.30 pm. And no you canāt have any breakfast was the answer in the morning !!!!!!
- Kim-marie (6/5): - When I arrived, I was not booked in. I needed to walk to another hotel and book in there as I was staying in a different hotel. Room cosy and clean. Bed was comfy.
- ANDREA (10/5): Great room - Our room was a large sea view one. The bed was very comfortable and the general cleanliness of the room / bathroom was good. An enjoyable stay at the Elsinore.
- Louise (6/5): Eisinore - The room was tired and on suite facility shower fitting much too low for an average height person to use. Also when booking it stated there was a bar that was unavailable and no access to food (breakfast facility). There was no heating on in the rooms and struggled to close bedroom window.
- Bridget (10/5): Nice hotel close to bars restaurants - Nice hotel staff helpful room spotless could do with carpets changing on hsl 100 meters to bars and restaurants
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Comfortable will use again
- Dave (10/5): Fab Location - Good reasonably priced stay with spacious clean room with 2 huge beds. Staff were attentive, dining room not in use due to Covid reg so can not comment fully on service. What staff we met were polite and helpful. We would stay here again. It is in a fabulous location right near beach and all shops, bars and pier.
- Les (8/5): Passable - It seems to be getting a makeover, rooms were clean place was quiet. Great for a one night stay, longerā½???? Great view of the promenade, and on street parking,
- Muhammad Haris (8/5): - Perfect. Only issue was thereās no wifi in the rooms and the mobile signals inside the room are somehow also poor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice big sea view room
- Anaid Ingrid (8/5): Not so welcome Inv check-in but good enough - Overall, everything was good except the check-in. They wanted to pay in cash because they supposedly had problems with the card machine, but when I told them I didnāt have enough cash, they managed to fix the cash machine. That issue wasnāt very welcoming at all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible donāt recommend I waiting refund
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst hotel Iāve been too - It was horrible staff didnāt show us around you get handed a key and left to it having to find everything ourselves, no drinkable water in rooms bed was uncomfortable room you can hear everything even someone walking past the shower was probably the best part and even that was bad, you get stared at and judged and commented when leaving and coming back, over all rubbish hospitable was rubbish definitely wonāt be staying again! Avoid at possible
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location superb but a little run down
- Nicola (8/5): Cheap and cheerful hotel - The hotel itself is basic but I was extremely happy with the size and cleanliness of the room for £55! The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The hotel is right infront of the promenade, very convenient for going to beach. For a 2 star hotel I think this hotel is excellent value for money and I would definitely return here for a cheap and cheerful visit.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Place was dated, dirty and not somewhere that o would recommend staying!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Large rooms and sea view
- ELAINE (10/5): A wonderful break at Elsinor in Llandudno - The hotel was great value for money. We booked in for three days - (was put off booking five days by a negative review, and regretted this as our experience was positive) No breakfasts, and new carpets needed on all the stairs. Didn't mind no lift - good to walk upstairs and in our next hotel the lift kept us awake much of the night. Staff very attentive and helpful
- Liberty (6/5): Young couple staying for 1 night - Quiet simply, you get what you pay for. We paid Ā£40 for the night, so obviously we wasnāt expecting 5 star. We just wanted something to sleep in for one night, so Ā£40 was perfect. We was a bit worried after reading such bad reviews, but I donāt get what people expect when they are paying such little. The hotel is right on the sea front, it was a really nice location, this hotel is in need of some TLC, the reception is very run down and has a bit of a smell, however the guy on reception was rather friendly. Our room and bathroom was basic but it was clean, we was confused as there was no curtains that you could close, so we had to hang the throw off the bed onto the curtains as there was onlooking buildings into our room. We really struggled to shower as the water was scalding hot it was painful to put on your skin, there was a sign saying hot water but you donāt expect that itās too hot to even stand in
,and you couldnāt make it any colder. Overall itās a cheap hotel and will do the job for the night in a really good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with tv, WiFi, kettle, hairdryer. A good basic room and very affordable.
- Dave (8/5): - The hotel is in one of the best location you would wish for the staff are pleasant and helpful however the property is very run down and is in dire need of maintenance although the room was big and spacious the tap and the loo roll holder were loose with the tap having to be held still with one hand to operate it with the other. the carpeting was very dirty and old but the breakfast was 10 out of 10 hot tasty and very well cooked.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place and friendly staff will definitely be going back
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room and bathroom were excellent. The staff are very helpful and courteous. Sadly we stayed during an on going renovation and it impacted on the stay. Hopefully once everything is finished the next visit would be something to write about.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good location for the purpose of our visit, warm welcome by staff.
- Marc (8/5): Good for the Money - This is an old hotel that is definitely run down and the repairs they make are very amateurish. The mattresses are very uncomfortable as well. That all said, the price is right and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond to assist yo. Breakfast that is included is also very tasty, however only available for an hour.
- andrew (2/5): Worst hotel possible - Booked for three nights managed one then booked another hotel this is the worst hotel I have ever been to it should not be allowed to take peopleās money the places is filthy and smells awful it says it is under refurbishment which by asking around seems to have been the case for some time without much work being done
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Central location, under renovation so donāt expect five stars
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We didn't like the hotel at all ,curtains we could not open ,wardrobe was falling apart ,exposed hot copper pipes exposed, carpets fraying and dirty, towels left on floor for replacing were put back on towel rack and not washed, smell from burgers coming in the windows so windows stayed shut,no drinks available for the days we were there i could go on but a waste of time
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only stayed one night guy on check in very good room was brilliant and quite big lovely white sheets and fluffy towels brilliant shower brilliant breakfast will stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location - Good for the price for the fabulous area. Great location but parking can be rather tricky. Lucky enough to find a free unrestricted parking spot a few streets away given that it was such a busy time of year.
The beds were very hard. Room was quite hot so a fan would be good. Friendly staff, breakfast was fine for the money paid.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Building wasnāt the best maintained, rooms had a weird smell and very warm, just felt dirty and not well maintained, we were a couple floors up with a baby, no elevator nothing so had to climb it upstairs!! Good job we were out all day
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff wifi poor in public area overall worth the money for 3 nights
- Gareth (8/5): Love Llandudno - Breakfast excellent.
Rooms very clean
Hallway and stairs could do with some tlc
- Marion (10/5): Home from home - Good, friendly hotel. clean, excellent breakfast, wifi in public areas
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasant friendly - Beds very uncomfortable.
Shower temperamental.
Clean rooms and bathrooms.
- Annie (6/5): Great place to see the sunrise from your room - Good location facing the sea so some rooms have spectacular sea view. We were grateful for the hotel giving us a nice room with the sea view, but we couldnāt get the windows to open to enjoy the sea breeze as it happened to be a very warm day so the room was a little stuffy. There were 3 of us but only 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels were provided. I went downstairs at around 9:30pm to inform the receptionist that we needed one more set of towels, but she never delivered the towels even though she had told me to go back and wait in my room while she was finishing up some reports. My elderly parents had to share a bath towel. There were other items missing from the inventory list posted on the room in the room, and I informed the receptionist of the missing cup, towels, etc. to ensure we would not be charged for those when we check out, so please check your room to ensure you have everything and the correct quantity per item listed on that inventory list when you check in as we had rushed out to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the promenade after we had arrived and didnāt check the list as well as the number of towels in the room until we returned after 9pm. There was no elevator so climbing the stairs with suitcases could be challenging. Breakfast was good but started a little late at 8:30am, and many guests were hungry and waiting around in the lobby area before 8am for the breakfast to start. Please enjoy my sunset and sunrise photos posted here.
- Natalie (10/5): Happy review! - I decided to go on a trip to Llandudno.. booked this hotel and when I got there the staff were so friendly.. I know this hotel is under refurb so Iām not going to judge the inside. It was clean. Good enough for me.. room was really lovely.. so was the shower!.. bed was comfy enough too! staff were super friendly and helpful.. enjoyed breakfast too! You get a good deal for the price..
I enjoyed my stay in Llandudno at this hotel and I would stay again..
- Andrew (4/5): - The hotel is very dated. The carpets on the stairs are threadbare. The decor isn't finished. Light fittings in the dining room held on with cable ties. All of the furniture is very old and tired.
The staff however are lovely and friendly, the breakfast was good. The room was clean, and the heating was on full all the time.
For the price we paid it was ok. Glad we didn't pay full price
- Mark (10/5): Super - Room was amazing, staff were so friendly and breakfast was incredible.
The only two problems were the bath was very small and the signal on the tv was awful (but I don't blame the hotel for that) definitely stay again and would recommend
- Anna (10/5): - Nice and cosy hotel. We got sea view room with no extra charge. Lovely staff. Good breakfast! Will book again
- Scott (8/5): Nice Hotel, Lovely area - Super slow check-in due to booking through Hotels.com
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I was charged an extra 50% of what I had already paid on line. I have no reason why because nothing was mentioned in my booking confirmation. When I offered to pay with my debit card I was told cash only which I found dubious.
The entrance of the hotel & reception area were shabby with threadbare carpets . The room was okay & clean and breakfast was fine
- Simon (8/5): Elsinore - Good location on the seafront. Good breakfast, though it is served late so not always ideal for work. I knew that the single rooms at the back would have some noise from the kitchen fan extractions of other hotels. Drowns out the noise of the gulls I suppose!
- Barbara (8/5): Weekend break away - Lovely clean hotel fantastic breakfast and located on sea front ideal.
- Chris (6/5): - Itās under refurbishment so itās hard to give a true account but good position and will be good when finished
- Verified traveler (8/5): Elsinore review - The bedroom was nice and clean as were the beds. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The carpets in on the stairs need replacing but cannot complain for the price we paid. Overall very good. The lady could not do enough for you and was very helpful.
- HA (10/5): - Good stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Rang 9 times before arrival so was obviously worried about our stay. Arrived at the hotel and it was in darkness with a sign saying it was closed due to refurbishment and go to the iris hotel 5mins down the road weather was awful but we had to make the journey. Got there no rooms. After 10 mins we were told to go bar to our original hotel as it was now open. I have atracted the message on the doors on our arrival and again on our entrance. The message is still on the door now and itās now Sunday morning. Itās the worse hotel I have stayed in and the obscure worse customer service I have ever received, and not from this hotel but from the Iris hotel they sent us to via the message on the closed and in darkness hotel we arrived at.
Please donāt waste your money here. It only opens at weekends and only then if they had bookings. We were the only people in the whole hotel. And actually Palouse for a roimwecdidnt use because we had a choice of rooms within the whole first floor.
Dated run down tried hotel. Stay well clear. Save your hard earned cash.Who ever owns this hotel is taking the pee and enjoying our hard earned cash elsewhere.
I asked to speak to the manager but she was in London and not available until Sunday night. Unfortunately we were leaving 10.30 Am as per hotel rules.
- paul (8/5): Great value stay - Great rooms if a tad quirky corridors are tired and need dire upgrade.
