Guest Reviews
- Mary (10/5): - This is an amazing small property to stay. I’ve actually stayed there three times this year. The property Managers are terrific and the amenities are perfect! Beds are super comfortable!

- Beth (10/5): - Clean and easy to park.
- Kay (10/5): - We loved this property !!!!
Beautiful lodge and town.
The price was more than fair.
- Laurie (6/5): - Room was very clean and beds were comfortable. Other than that the furnishings were VERY outdated, table was wobbly, bathroom outdated, room is poorly lit, "TV" was a 26" monitor waaaayy across the room, etc. When you arrive you are immediately hit with rules - parking signs, then when you check in you have to sign a paper with a list of rules (and their associated fines). Inside the room are more rules. While there is a kitchenette one rule is no frying anything, so forget your bacon and sausage breakfast.
- Tom (10/5): - Idaho, because of the low vaccination rates for the Delta Covid variant, has caused conservative property owners to be off the grid in terms of stay restrictions. If you are traveling on your own or as a couple and do not seek to have visitations from friends this is a great place. If you would expect to have visitors over at any level forget it. They will not be admitted to your unit - very restrictive practices here,
- Patricia (10/5): - Perfect for a one night stop
- Mark A. (8/5): - The Valley Creek Lodge was a great spot for us. The check-In process was very smooth and everyone was super friendly, from the housekeeper to the owner. The location is so convenient to area restaurants and Stanley Lake hikes and the place was spotless. We would stay again for sure.
- Elise (8/5): - The rooms are very large and have a kitchenette which makes them a great spot for a Stanley vacation. Super clean and well-cared for. Nice views out the front and back and a great location to get wherever you are headed in the area.
- Robert (8/5): - Scenery right outside our door was beautiful.
Did not like the fact that you needed some sort of TV "membership" (Comcast) to be able to watch the television. We had no TV for the 2 days we were there, but survived.
- Brianne Marie (10/5): - I loved the balcony on the front and back of the room. I love the very relaxed vibe that I get from being there. There are seats that are along the little creek that faces a small mountain. Great for viewing the antelope which seem to come every morning down to the water and graze in the field.
I didn’t expect to have room service, but every day , the room was cleaned and fresh soap and shampoo was brought in. The beds were very comfortable and they have an outdoor patio area for folks to grill, if you are interested in that. Love the place.
- Barbara (10/5): - Spacious room, nice views from both front and back balconies. Comfortable beds and everything we needed for a night's stay.
- Valerie (10/5): I definitely recommend - We were pleasantly surprised by this little hotel. Rooms were clean and airy. I really liked the back door with beautiful views of the mountains. Very well taken care of property with decks, flowers, little outside tables. I would definitely return if I am ever in Stanley again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great spot to eat, relax and recover after hiking.
off the main drag, close to town and restaurants, shops and gas.
management was rey responsive to our requests and needs.
thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here. Place seemed incredibly clean. Check in was easy. The only thing to note is the lack of air conditioning. Probably doesn't matter in Stanley most of the time, but worth mentioning. Kitchen is stocked with all housewares one may need if you plan on cooking for yourself during your stay. Does seem like there are a lot of rules posted around everywhere, but its all common sense stuff. Man who runs the place is probably just tired of dealing with tourists.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location for what we wanted to do in Stanley, being only an 11 minute drive from our trailhead. Extremely clean facility that is obviously well cared for. I especially appreciated that the owner was still so health conscious around the fact that the pandemic is not yet over. When we return, we hope to get a room here again. Thank you for your hospitality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great views and nice, clean, quiet room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The front and back porches were very nice along with the outdoor seating behind the property.
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptionally clean - Our room was much larger than expected and was spotlessly clean, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. The owners clearly take pride in the property. We followed the advice of other reviewers and requested a room on the second floor. The floors did seem a bit squeaky and I'm not sure we would have enjoyed our stay as much if we'd been on the ground floor. The walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors quite clearly after they returned to the room around 11:00 p.m. I almost got up to ask them to try to keep the noise down but they finally quieted down around midnight, allowing us to fall asleep.
- Donna (10/5): - Fantastic! The room was very clean, beds comfortable, the views out front and back windows were beautiful! The owner is a gentleman, very helpful, and friendly to us.
Ask for upstairs room, it’s an old structure with squeaky floors. Overall, it was the best room we had in our 2 week vacation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We like it was a small hotel with beautiful scenery. Of the sawtooth mountains What we didnt like was check out is at 10 am. Its husband and wife who own rhe place . The hotel has 7 rooms available.
Our room was nice. Qe went with family we were able to be right next door to eachother. It has a small walkable wooden sidewalk in back . All the rooms has a back door to see the beautiful scenery of the mountains, its only 10-15 miles from red fish lake.
Check in 3 pm
Check out 10 am
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful views of the Sawtooth - Spacious unit with great views of the Sawtooth mountains. Room was very clean and the service was excellent.
- RFencl (10/5): - Very nice and clean rooms. I arrived late, and the staff was very kind and accommodating about that. I would come back again.
- Vincent (8/5): Clean and Comfortable - Nice little motel, operated by a husband and wife offering comfortable beds, clean rooms and beautiful views of the Sawtooth mountains.
- Dan (8/5): - Clean. COVID friendly check in. Ample parking. Comfortable beds. Good shower. Beautiful setting. Squeaky floors so stay on second floor.
- Kate (6/5): - Good location, attractive lodge. Proprietor was notably unfriendly
- ValleyCreekLodg (10/5): - There is nothing wrong with this hotel. Everything is great and works perfectly. I'm not sure how other hotels are in Stanley, but I paid $180 and that was very overpriced for what it is.
- Connie (10/5): - The room was very clean, the sheets smell fresh and clean; however, the floor creaks very loudly on every step.
- Casey (10/5): - Nice little place to stay! Great view, clean rooms! Can’t ask for much more!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place, great view! It felt like a vacation home. We would come back again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The views from both the back and front decks are beautiful. The room is clean and the kitchenette is functional. It could use a couple of wine glasses but no biggie. The beds are super comfortable. We stayed in an upstairs room. There are only 8 rooms so it is quiet. I’d stay here again. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and Quiet. Convenient place to stay. Beds are a little hard.
- EJ (10/5): - Room was very clean and all personnel are great. Amazing view from back porch of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was as so comfortable and the staff was amazing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When checking we said possibly could have an extra person and they charged me extra. They were rude and the room was dirty. Paid 198 for my 3 year old an I to stay on a Thursday night. Will never go back and will not recommend to anyone coming up.
- Scott (10/5): - A pleasant surprise. Nothing fancy, but very nice. In my opinion, better than other lodging available in Stanley.
- Frank (6/5): A bit disappointing - I was a little disappointed mostly because other very positive reviews.
The room was spacious and clean, the outside seating is very charming and, as we were traveling with small children, the full kitchen was a big plus.
But we also had several issues. Our room was located on the bottom floor and the floor upstairs is VERY creaky. The individuals residing on the second floor stayed up late and walked around up to 2-3am. I am not a light sleeper but I could hear every step they took because the flooring was making so much noise whenever they would walk. Thankfully the kids did not wake up but my husband and I had a very tough time. Also, the person working there was a bit grumpy and initially said she cannot give me two extra towels I asked for (they gave us two and there was four of us in the room). I am not sure why this would be a big deal to get four towels for four individuals - but eventually we did receive extra towels. Anyhow - overall, did not work out for us!
- Louise (10/5): - The check in was easy. We enjoyed the very clean roomy room #6. The views are great.
- Joy (6/5): - I loved the location! It has a beautiful view in the front and back of the building.
I didn't like the luke warm shower or never ending loop of the same bad movies, after a day of hiking and paddleboarding.
I found the agreement of room stanards incredibly strict, especially the one on no visitors in the room.
- Barbara (10/5): peaceful - Clean, helpful and wonderful!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Due to a medical emergency (he is recovering from brain surgery), we could not stay in Stanley.
There was no compensation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The views from this facility are fantastic! Rooms are basic but large and very well suited to the rustic environment and activities of the area. The baseboard heaters are hard to regulate. We were usually too warm or a bit chilly. Everything is in excellent condition - including grills, outside chairs, tables, and living space - and I would say that’s a direct result of the owner who can be a bit gruff and picky. He clearly loves this property, it’s history, and its nearly wilderness setting. The WiFi works very well unlike most places I stay. Again the owner has worked very hard to ensure this.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place but we had trouble regulating the heat. Too cold, then too hot, etc
- Jerry (6/5): - difficult staff....hard to contact...slow to help. No Ice machine...no elevator....nice view of the Sawtooth Range
- Scott (10/5): - This is a great place to stay but be sure to get a top-level room as there will be floor squeaking and clomping from those on the top floor. The view of the Sawtooths from the room and deck is astonishing. The room was very clean with artwork and photos all over the walls. There is cable TV but the selection is pathetically limited. You cannot get any news channels and forget sports ones.
- Cheryl (8/5): - This lodge is what I expected in a small rustic mountain town. The proprietor was very nice & helpful. Location was perfect for our needs.
- Jason (10/5): - Other than no satellite or cable TV you can’t go wrong with this place. The view is spectacular and the room was clean. Parking was easy and close too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was good. The views were very nice. The room was nice and large. Plenty of parking the bed was very comfortable. The WiFi signal was good at around 20 MBS which is very fast for streaming purposes. There was a little kitchenette if you wanted to cook.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable room.
Poor TV selection.
- Steve (10/5): - On the edge of Stanley. Good views of the mountains on one side and a quiet view of a stream on the other side. Two balconies was nice. Loved the place.
- Joe (2/5): - Not a very warm and welcoming place. Check
out is a 10 am.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice location. Beautiful scenery out back and beautiful view of the Sawtooth mtns. out front. Very clean and nice, large room with kitchen.
- Hrvoje (10/5): - Place was very nice and clean. Right in the center of town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place and clean. Stayed a night for a family vacation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location and very bright and clean room. Comfy beds!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Checkout is 10 am and check in as 3:00 pm. Which sucks if your driving from far away. The guy at the office wasn’t friendly and seemed put out. The coffee pot sucked and leaked everywhere. The TV had 4 channels and one replayed over and over again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful views, Very clean, Excellent service, comfy bed, everything you need. Except ice. There are small ice cube trays in the room otherwise - you need to buy ice at the Merc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome views and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy it! Rooms are clean and comfortable, though certainly not modern. We enjoyed our visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, comfortable, spacious, has a kitchenette, and conveniently located.
- Don (10/5): - Clean rooms. Magnificent views 👍 will come back to this area year after year. Very crowded on the weekend. Better to come during the week.
- Megan (8/5): - Great view of the Sawtooth Mointains! Very close to restaurants and just a short drive from Red Fish Lake!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and quiet. Great views from our balcony of the Sawtooth mountains and Valley Creek! Excellent location to eateries and hiking, biking, and rafting establishments.
- Thomas (10/5): Stanley Stay - One night only and room was perfect - clean, quiet, and convienent
- Theresa (8/5): - No compaints. It had everything we need and was very clean, quiet, and comfortable.
- Beadbum (10/5): - Really nice owner- beautiful property-will definitely return!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very clean room. Pleasant staff. Mosquitoes, a spider and a moth were part of cattle high country reality and my stay at this property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable and that’s what you’d expect
- dave (10/5): - Great Location, very quiet, and of course, the most beautiful place in the world
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful lodge described perfectly. Salmon river runs along back of property and amazing view of Sawtooth mountains from room balcony.
- lilikoi (8/5): - Super clean and comfy. Nice little kitchenette with just barely enough pots/pans etc to cook a little. A bit far from town center to walk in. Had an upstairs room with a very squeaky floor, but I think above laundry.
- Gerardo (8/5): - It was really nice place. Clean room. The place is manged by the owners which is a big plus.
- Patricia (10/5): Valley view Hotel Stanley, listed with Hotels.com - We were very pleased with our room and our stay. It had an well equipped kitchen. It has an outdoor space to relax . It was very clean, I do appreciate clean . The manager was friendly and courteous.
- Deb (10/5): - We loved this room and what a view...we will definitely come back!!!
- Richard (8/5): Nice - The room was very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The owner called us at dinner and left a message essentially accusing us of using their room towels on the river. A threat was made to charge us a $250.00 incidental. The towels never left the room and were never abused or misused. That was a little unsettling. After demonstrating this at check-out, an apology was provided. We were good with that. The room was really nice and I recommend staying here.
- James (4/5): Great location, not a very good experience - Could not get front door lock to work right, management did not seem to care, management seems to spy on us all day long. Could not get credit for trying to cancel one night out of seven even though we tried on the first day. We will not return!
- Sheryl (10/5): - Very, very clean...beautiful view of mountains...Victoria was extremely friendly...will stay again!
