Guest Reviews
- Rietveld (10/5): -
- Tyler (10/5): Wonderful place for the price. Couldn’t really say anything is bad. Good rooms, quiet, warm and welcoming. And good secu - Quiet rooms, great internet, and really nice hosts. Also water is quite hot just the curtain sometimes folds into you. We had to buzz in and out which I felt was a bit of an annoyance because I didn’t want to constantly come in and out then. But great for safety and all of that.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Shodai (10/5): -
- Patrik (10/5): - Hot shower, WiFi working well, if you go somewhere (Machu Pichu etc.) , you can leave your stuff in storage room for free
- Inanc (10/5): Traditional and beautiful building close to local life and the old town. - Despite arriving early in the morning, we were given early check-in. We received a very warm welcome. It's a beautiful traditional building close to the Old Town and familiar with traditional life. The room was quite large and had 24-hour hot water. We were able to leave our bags until the night bus.
- Lorena (10/5): - Localização otima. Tudo limpinho. Atendimento muito gentil e atencioso. Gostei muito!!
- Loes (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming place in Cusco - We had a warm and personal welcome from Coco. The room was clean, spacious and with a warm and good shower. Short walking distance to the city centre and nice local restaurants in the same street. Would recommend to stay here! Nothing
- Ren (10/5): Awesome - He’s kind!! It’s comfortable Little bit cold room
- Bruno (10/5): -
- Bachir (10/5): Pleasant stay, Nice owners of Tuco hotel. A pleasant and peaceful place - Owners are really Nice and helpful. Special Thanks to Coco and his wife 🙌🏼
The accomodations are good with hot water and wifi well functionning. I can only recommend this Nice place to enjoy the Charm of beautiful Cuzco.
Thank you and buena suerte 🙌🏼 -

- Randa (10/5): - The owners Coco and Anna Maria were super friendly and helpful during my one night stay. They allowed me to leave my big luggage in storage for a couple of days which was very much appreciated. The location is good and room was clean and spacious. Overall, i was really happy about my stay.
- Elisaveta (10/5): Great! - We really enjoyed our stay at El Tuco Hotel. The hosts, Coco and his wife, are incredibly kind and welcoming people. They help you in every way they can and give lots of useful advice. If you happen to get sick, you can be sure that you’ll be well taken care of by these wonderful people.
Every morning, Coco serves a delicious breakfast. The hotel is very safe and secure. The rooms are simple, but for us they were more than enough: clean, with a warm bed and a hot shower.
Our flight was suddenly cancelled and delayed by seven hours, which was a huge problem for us since we needed to catch a bus to Huaraz. Coco advised us to go to the airport anyway and try to get another flight. We followed his advice, and after a lot of complaining at the airport, we actually managed to get a different flight. Without Coco’s advice, we would have only arrived at our next destination the following evening—but thanks to him, we made it there in the morning instead.
Thank you, Coco and Anne-Marie, for the warm welcome and the great advice.
We definitely recommend staying here! :-) /

- I s (10/5): - Warm shower, responsible and friendly host, and nice rooms/kitchen and bathroom.
- Edimar (1/5): Horrível! - Nada.
Instalações: Péssimas. Banheiro: Papel racionalizado, ralo do chuveiro entupido, sem sabonetes nem toalhas, me ofereceram a mais 20 soles;
- Juan (10/5): - Room is clean, beds are confortable. Staff is friendly! Their strongest points are wifi (the fastest I’ve had in Peru so far) and shower (consistent hot water and good pressure).
- Lane (10/5): Perfect stay in Cusco - Perfect hotel to stay, extremely safe as the doors are locked at all times. Coco is always readily available to open the gate. His wife is also a very sweet woman always with a smile on her face & willing to help. Bed is comfy and clean as are the showers. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Come see Coco!
- PETER (5/5): Reserve this place if you don't mind feeling like a prisoner. - The room was okay, and sheets were clean, but there were no headboards, where the pillow sank in between the bed and the wall. They don't provide you with the main door key. To get in and out, host (husband and wife) has to literally come out to the door and lock/unlock to get in/out of the building. Basically, you can't get in/out without them.
You must drop off your room key before leaving the motel.
They rent a bath towel for 9.5 sol PER DAY, which is $2.71/€2.4 per day!!!!!
Feels like you are being watched.
I don't know why this place has such high rating.
- Lane (10/5): I recently stayed at El Tuco, and overall, it was a comfortable and pleasant experience. From the moment I arrived, the - Coco & his wife were incredibly kind Everything was great.

- Shariatt (8/5): - Coco and Anna were quite helpful hosts. Property location was ideal.
- Guest (9/5): -
- Anselm (9/5): Buena gente, central y duchas calientes!
- Arthur (10/5): Great staff, great hostel, also delicious breakfast. - Fantastic staff. Coco and Anna were extremely friendly and helpful, gave us all sorts of advice for travelling in the local area. In addition there were clean bathrooms with hot showers, and WiFi which worked in every room. The location is also great, only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Cusco. Nothing
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional - Genuinely hot shower with excellent water pressure. Best I've had in 2 weeks in Cusco and Sacred Valley. The couple who run the place were very friendly and helpful. They helped me get a taxi to the bus station. I was also able to request a late check out, and they stored my things whilst I waited for my night bus. Comfy bed, good bathroom and all clean and tidy.
- Gruffydd (10/5): Much appreciate the 1 night stay and the lovely hosts! - This hotel was very comfortable and the hosts were great. They were very communicative and helpful during my stay - I have to applaud the hot shower and wifi connection they had. I only stayed 1 night and it was a pleasure - I wish I could’ve stayed for longer!
- Luiz (7/5): Good - Hosts are nice, breakfast is very good and beds are comfortable. Hosts are always readily available and give you suggestions for anything you may need. The wifi is bad. It only worked if one was max half a meter from the room’s door. Shower was ok, but you can’t take a shower without wetting all your hair.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place to stay in Cusco. A short walk to the centre, but far enough out to be quiet and relaxed. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the shower was hot and powerful. But above all this, Coco and Ana were the best thing about El Tuco - so kind and welcoming. We had some great conversations, they helped us practice our Spanish and shared local knowledge and customs. Coco also makes an excellent breakfast! Thank you both 🫶🏼 Nothing! I thought the location on a main road might be noisy but it wasn't at all.
- Chase (10/5): Amazing owners, great price, hot strong showers, wifi. Would absolute stay there again! - Coco and Anna are extremely nice and work hard to ensure guests have a great stay! Clean, quiet, good wifi, hot shower with great water pressure! Kitchen and dining area to use. It's not clear in the booking but you pay extra if you want a towel and soap. Not bad though considering the price.
- Roshn (10/5): Exceptional - The kindest and most helpful hosts, thank you for everything! The building is nice, the lobby downstairs has great WiFi and offers tables to work. The shower pressure is good and the water is warm. Breakfast lovely too! It can get quite cold in the room, especially in the night.
- Lucy (9/5): Wonderful hosts and good location - Coco & Anna are wonderful people who really helped me during our stay at El Tuco when my husband became ill.
The location is good, a short walk from the historic centre.
Breakfast is nice 👍
Shower is very hot! New pillows needed and a head board for the bed as the pillows keep falling down the back of the bed.
- Elin (10/5): Exceptional - Nice family run place. Good shower, always with sufficient hot water and pressure. Stable wifi
- Robert (10/5): Terrific experience: helpful hosts, spacious rooms, hot shower with pressure, motorcycle parking - Spacious room with a comfy bed and a hot shower. Parking was included—highly recommended for motorcycle travelers. Fresh breakfast cooked at the time you choose daily. As has been mentioned, the hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful; it's clear that hosting travelers in their restored mansion and helping visitors have the experiences they want in Peru is a calling to them.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (8/5): Very good - Very good value for money. The owner works very hard and even woke up at 4am to let us out one day for a tour (front door is always locked). Very good guy. Quiet and spacious room. Shower was warm. Good location too near enough to historic Cusco to walk. The carpets could use a deep clean. The sheets on the bed weren’t very comfortable, and you had to pay to rent the towels.
- Hsiao (10/5): It’s a perfect base for your exploring Cusco region. Coco has the best knowledge to help travelers. I enjoyed morning ch - For young backpackers, this is one of the best in Cusco for you. Super helpful owner Coco and Ana who are so willing to help and really treat you like a friend. Cusco can be a bit cold at night in winter. Inés to wear warm clothes when going to bed, but it’s manageable.
- Dafna (3/5): Poor -
- Patrick (10/5): Comfortable base in Cusco - In walking distance from the Plaza del Armas, also has two supermarkets close by and a kitchen, so we dined in on our chill day after the Salkantay trek.
The shower works great, we also had our wash done and on the day of check out we left our luggage in the storage room to pick it up in the evening. Coco and his esposa were very kind and helped us book a trip to the 7 Lagoons hike, where we probably would have had a problem getting back to Cusco had we done it on our own. Plus we got to practice our Spanish as they spoke slowly and well pronounced.
- Norani (10/5): Amazing hostal with hot showers, spacious rooms and WiFi. - The bed, showers, WiFi and the hostal were amazing!!!
The room is very spacious with hot water shower all the time.
Coco and his wife were amazing and very helpful
Super recommended!!!
- Halecan (10/5): Lovely stay in an antique manor in Cusco! - Best value for money. Comfortable beds in a clean, spacious room. Hot shower! Cute kitchen with a shared fridge and utensils. Coco and Ana were lovely hosts who showed that they cared not just of your experience at the hotel but also in Cusco in general!
Well situated, around 10-15 mins walk to the centre. felt quite safe.
100% recommend! Nothing really! For the price you pay, this is the best you’ll find.
Just remember that certain things do cost extra eg towel, soap, laundry etc.
I’ve read negative reviews about accessing the property. To clarify, yes you give your keys before leaving the property and have ring the bell every time to re-enter the property. This was NOT a problem for us because we trusted Coco and Ana and understood this was a good way of ensuring safety. They were happy to open the door every time even at 4am! So for us this was a positive!
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place,
Close to all atraction- walking distance.
Friendly accommodating staff.
Shame I woke up late and rushing out
Didn't get a chance to try the food.
Maybe next time
- Dafna (10/5): Great staff, great room. Highly reccomended! - The staff are extremely nice. Always smiling and happy to help. They really helped me when I suffered from altitude sickness. The room was big with a big bed. The shower had always hot water. The common kitchen is well-equipped. The location is 10 minutes walk from center, it has two supermarkets nearby. The place is quiet and comfortable, I slept very well.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Host are very friendly and helpful for Tours, easy walkable to Centro or Machu Picchu Train, good hot shower, comfortable Bed, washing service available
- Chika (1/5): Bad -
- Cheng (10/5): Exceptional - Shower with very hot water, internet very fast, comfortable bed.
Sounds basic stuff but a lot of budget hotels cannot even provide them well.
Location is not close to Plaza de Armas. But that's good thing for those who don't want to eat in expensive touristic restaurants. Owners are precise and helpful people. Nothing.
- Richie (10/5): Exceptional - My second visit, still the same friendly hotel at a great price but now coco has opened a bar in the basement where you can enjoy a Pisco sour or 2!!!
- Danielle (10/5): Great value per price - The sweetest hosts, felt secure, great location about 10-15 min walk to anywhere we needed, amazing amazing hot shower with good pressure, overall well worth the stay
- Nieke (10/5): amazing people and very nice environment - super friendly owners, they made us instantly feel at home and that is why we decided to extend our stay, hot showers, comfortable beds, clean environment, nice and well furnished kitchen with very good breakfast made at the moment. nothing
- Roy (10/5): - Hot water
- Lutz (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (9/5): Human and warm - Coco and Anna were very helpful to me, they made my stay great, and helped me as much as they could. The room was large and very clean, the bed confortable, the shower had a lot of pressure and hot water (more than any other hotel I have stayed in here in Cusco). The wifi was good too, but the best thing had to be the night when Coco invited us to his bar, located under the hotel, and offered to make us try some of his pisco sour ! It was delicious and it’s no one of my favorite cocktail 😅 a very good point is also the fact that if you’re hiking Machu Picchu, a storage room is available for you to use at the hotel !
I really enjoyed my stay, I would recommend and I’ll definitely stay here again !
- Jumpei (10/5): -
- Ali (5/5): Passable - This place is run by a couple who are suspicious of themselves. They don't give you a key to get in and out. You have to let them know every time you want to go out and they lock the door. They come into the room every day. The beds and pillows are not comfortable at all.
- Jacques (10/5): Exceptional - Coco, the owner, is a great person. Always happy to help and to give recommendations for visits. Hotel is only 10 minutes walking distance from the historical city center
- Raphael (5/5): Passable - Cost benefit and location were fine. Also comfortable bed and hot shower. Breakfast is charged separately and was offered to me directly by the owner. I didn't question the price, I just asked if it included eggs and bread, i was very clear questioning this and he replied “yes of course”. The next day, for breakfast, I was offered a small pancake. When I asked about the eggs, he said that they didn't have eggs that day, that they serve something different each day. I felt upset because I travel by motorcycle and a breakfast with protein is important to me specially that day because i would have a long journey and was planning not to have lunch so i could reach the bolivian border on time. After noticing my frustration, he came to ask me if I liked the pancake. I said yes, but I preferred eggs. He tried to blame his wife, saying that she didn't tell him my preference, and I replied that he personally guaranteed me that eggs were served. After that, he went back to the breakfast table and grumbled to another guest that I had paid only $14 and was still complaining about the breakfast wich actually i paid extra a part. I didn't question the price of anything, I paid for everything as I was charged, including breakfast. The host sets the prices, cheap or expensive does not give him the right to offer something different from what was agreed, much less to grumble about a situation with another guest, whispering as if I were being too demanding due to the amount I was charged. He could even charge more but fulfill what promised to offer. It was ridiculous and embarrassing to hear an old man whispering to another guest on my back. He probably felt shame about his own behavior and was trying to blame on me to her as an excuse. Poor man in every ways
- Julia (10/5): Amazing stay & highly recommend - El Tuco exceeded all my expectations! The hosts are incredibly friendly and always happy to help with anything you need. After mentioning that I was practicing Spanish, they even gave me a little class!! Most importantly, the hotel is super clean, feels very safe, and has everything you could ask for: strong WiFi, coworking space and a HOT shower with fantastic pressure (which is super hard to find in Cusco!) and an overall welcoming atmosphere. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay—highly recommend! Nada
- Mikoto (10/5): Amazing stay! - Coco was very kind. He told me about the city of Cusco, Machu Picchu, and recommended foods. I asked him about staying an extra night at short notice, and he made the arrangements smoothly. The bed was comfortable and warm. It was still a little cold in Cusco in February, but the hot shower was a great help for me.
The location was also great. If I go to Cusco again, I will definitely stay here! Nothing at all :)
- Guerre (10/5): Exceptional - Coco were so nice and friendly, he sat with me while having breakfast. We had a great conversation. He took time to explained to me the options how to get to aguas calientes.
- Zilberman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angeliki (10/5): Loved my stay - I definately recomend! - Coco (the owner) and his wife, literlly saved me with a room available when I left one night in the rain from another horrible accomodation. He is super friendly and loves to chat. I felt safe and I liked the vintage-y style of the hotel. I would definately go back there if again in Cusco. Great value for money. I am never after luxuries or crazy requests and for a single traveler it was great. Also i wanted a hotel just of the buzzing center and this was it! Great value for money too! These are no issues to me, but I am writing in case you expect something else: hot water is slow and the hotel is old. Kitchen is not the best but none of these things are important to me.
- Gary (10/5): - Very good at communication- have WhatsApp if you are from out of country and the owner will contact you directly. The room was clean and safe. Close to airport and city center. Just remember to bring cash they are cash only.
- Raphaël (10/5): - C'était très bien! Très cozy
- Serena (9/5): highly recommended! - Very lovely hosts. Always available and happy to help! Clean and comfortable place. Shower was good enough compared to the average in Cusco. Full kitchen and luggage storage for free. The WiFi was a bit off in my room but not too bad either. Perhaps the location not very central but not too long a walk to the centre.
- Sajidul (10/5): Great stay, highly recommend - Clean, great breakfast and friendly staff None
- Gustavo E (10/5): Gran atención, recomendado - Coco super amable, estupenda atención y consejos. Totalmente recomendable, ni estancia fue muy placentera
- Xiaoning (9/5): A good place to stay with good value in the centro of Cusco - Clean, good value for money, welcoming staff You have to call the owner each time if you want to go out because the gate is locked
- Enze (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay in Cusco, the host Coco and his wife are very hospitable and know everything about Cusco and surrounding tourism. The room was clean and tidy, especially the great hot shower available all day which made me very satisfied. If I return to Cusco, I will definitely back here
- Yujie (9/5): Nice - shower is good, which the host is proud of.
wifi is good, I can watch movies.
Coco and his family make this little hotel feel like home My room is facing to a busy street
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - I had the pleasure of staying at hotel during my recent trip to Cusco, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The location is perfect—next to the heart of the city, within walking distance of the main attractions like the Plaza de Armas and the historic San Pedro Market.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always eager to help with any requests or questions I had. They helped to store my luggage while I was visiting other city. The hotel itself is charming, comfortable. .
My room was cozy, and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed
Thank you for an unforgettable stay!
- Roxanne (10/5): Great value for a hostel close to the historic center. - The owner Coco was very accomodating. He helped us get a taxi to the airport. The hostel was very secure with a locked front gate. There was hot water 24/7 which is hard to find in Cusco.
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place and people with good heart. Coco knows everything and helps you with any questions about your planned trips .
- Jillian (6/5): Management is kind and available but the fee structure and check in & out every time you come and go from the proper - It definitely felt safe in that management keeps the entrance gate locked at all times and checks each person in and out. It’s not a particularly convenient location, it’s a bit hard to find and right along the highway. The facility clean but old and a bit worn.
They charge “add on” fees for a lot of things. Make sure a towel is included in your booking or you’ll be paying extra per a day for basic accommodations.
- Gregory (10/5): We loved our time at El Tuco! Coco is an amazing host and we have come back many times whilst staying in Cusco. We felt - We loved our time at El Tuco! Coco is an amazing host and we have come back many times whilst staying in Cusco. We felt very welcome, everything was incredibly clean and it is very easy to get to the centre from the hostel. Cant recommend El Tuco enough!
- Richie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great, well located 15 minute walk to the main plaza, hot showers, freindly and helpful hosts and a very relaxed atmosphere
- Anna Sophie (10/5): Lage, Zimmer, Hilfsbereitschaft - alles top!
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional - Ana and Coco are amazing hosts. So friendly and great for recommendations. The room was big and the breakfast was great. They were really nice for letting me leave my big bag there while doing multi day excursions.
- Yihan (10/5): Perfect!! - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making sure I had everything I needed. Every morning, the breakfast was freshly prepared by the owner, and it was absolutely delicious – you can really taste the care that goes into it. One memorable moment during my stay was when I left the hotel for a day and accidentally forgot my padlock. The owner went out of his way to find it for me, which I really appreciated. The hot water in the shower was also excellent, always consistent and at the perfect temperature. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again! The only downside is that the checkout time is 9 a.m., which is a little early.
- Alisa (10/5): Nice hostel - felt like home! - We had the best time in El Tuco Hostel! The room was very big, the shower hot with a good pressure, the beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. Wifi also worked well. They have a nice kitchen where you can also cook by yourself. We had the complimentary breakfast, which was very good and different every morning.
It was so nice, that we extended our stay twice. When we went for a hike, it was possible to store our bags for free and when we came back after a few days it felt like coming home :)
- Michael (9/5): Friendly staff, warmest showers on the continent, and a great value! - Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, always willing to help out. There's an option for off-street parking if you have a car (though the space is pretty tight). HOT SHOWERS, great location, comfortable accommodation. A great value for the price. Two minor things: 1) The wifi cut out a couple of times-- very reasonable if you're just using it for personal stuff, but I wouldn't rely on it for work. 2) You need a staff member to both let you into the building (pretty standard), but also to leave (a bit weird). The staff is responsive and can open the gate within a minute or two, but if you're trying to leave at an odd hour (and socially anxious) it can be a minor hassle.
- Lauren (1/5): No - Marie Coco, one of the owners was incredibly rude.
I arrived to be told that I would have to switch rooms the next day. (Do not book out a room if it is not available). After travelling for 4 mnths, I have never come across worse pillows. Lumps of material. Bed not great either.
The noise from the street my first was horrendous. I was awake from 2am. I had to cancel my plans for the next day to try and sleep. Then I was woken up and moved to another room. Never again. And it’s 29 minutes walk to the centre.
- Christina (9/5): Superb -
- Merrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): Lovely owners, fantastic hotel and brilliant showers!! - El Tuco is exceptional value for money. The owners are incredibly kind and caring people, and are willing to help with whatever needs you have. The building itself is beautiful, the rooms are very spacious and the showers are AMAZING and HOT! The WiFi is also excellent. We had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Thank you again El Tuco! Nothing
- Jannis (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect! We arrived at the hotel early after a long ride on the night bus and were able to check into the rooms very early. The rooms are well equipped and the shower has great water pressure and the water is hot! We received a lot of information about Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. The breakfast is very plentiful and delicious. When we got sick, the hosts called a doctor and we were very well looked after. The hosts are just super nice and incredibly helpful. We can't thank them enough for the great time we had in Cusco. The location is central, and all the sights are a 10-minute walk away. The WiFi is also fast and works smoothly. We absolutely recommend the hotel! Everything was perfect. -
