Thomas (8/5): Un séjour très agréable - La proximité avec la mer, le coin un peu isolé paradisiaque La distance entre l’hôtel et le centre-ville de Bocas nécessite si on a pas de voiture de payer systématiquement un aller à 15 $ ce qui rend la visite de l’île coûteuse.
Leona (10/5): - Wir waren 5 Nächte im Bluff Beach Retreat und hatten dort einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt. Die Unterkunft liegt mitten im Urwald und gleichzeitig ganz nah am weitläufigen Bluff Beach. Gerade diese Lage hat uns sehr gut gefallen, und durch die Natur konnte man auch viele Tiere beobachten. Die eher rustikale Gestaltung mit viel Holz passt perfekt in die Umgebung. Das Personal war während unseres ganzen Aufenthalts sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Auch bei der Planung von Aktivitäten war das Hotel sehr unterstützend. Wir haben dort Yoga, Surfen und eine Bootstour mit Schnorcheln gebucht und uns hat alles sehr gut gefallen. Das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich, mit lokalen Produkten, und für uns definitiv ein Pluspunkt. Die Unterkunft selbst war sehr sauber und insgesamt einfach ein Ort, an dem man sich schnell wohlfühlt. Man ist dort etwas abseits vom Zentrum, mit dem Taxi fährt man ungefähr 30 Minuten und zahlt etwa 20 Dollar pro Strecke. Es gibt aber auch einen Bus. Uns hat das nicht gestört, weil die Umgebung wirklich sehr schön ist und es auch in der Nähe Restaurants gibt. Insgesamt hat es uns sehr gut gefallen und wir haben uns dort sehr wohlgefühlt.
Gizelle (10/5): Excellent stay - The grounds and Villa are beautiful. Everything is clean and well kept. Our room was cleaned every day and we always had fresh towels. The little monkeys l, sloths and birds on the property made our stay even better. Breakfast was always a feast. Augusto and Anita went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

Jakub (7/5): A bit overpriced place with wildlife and near the beach - The place is well located, just a few meters from the sea. Sea is really strong here. The waves are massive, during the night you can hear them a lot. We met monkeys, birds and agutis right in the resort. It was amazing. The beach is amazing to walk with almost no people. We had a beautiful horse ride to a Piscina beach that we recommend. The contact with the owner (Canadian guy) was a bit weird. He approached me on what's app asking about our arrival and when I replied that didn't know the exact time of my arrival he kind of aggressively trying to get my reply the next day. I explained how I felt so he didn't bother me again. I find the prices in this area quite expensive but also in restaurants etc. They wrote the apartment we stayed at is luxurious but it's not luxurious about it. I asked for a price reduction and I didn't have to pay for one breakfast, small but nice gesture. I think the breakfast should be included in the price, especially it was made on site by local people and just a right amount so everyone can get full without wasting any food.. That was nice but it wasn't a continental kind of breakfast. In this part of the island there is rip current so swimming is forbidden or at your own risk (that can end fatal), it's great for experienced surfers for sure.

Greg (10/5): We stayed at Bluff Beach Resirt for three nights, but could easily have stayed longer. - We loved the lush setting, the sound of the waves at night, the pool area was easy to access and the breakfast was delicious, with something different each morning. Augusto and Anita were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming, arranged activities and transportation for us, making for an easy and relaxing stay.
Carla (10/5): - We had an awesome stay at the Bluff Beach Retreat! It’s located in a jungly environment, which we enjoyed a lot. We saw and heard a lot of wildlife around us. The house and room itself are designed beautifully and smart, so that it’s enjoyably cool, especially at nights. It’s great to have the opportunity to use the spacious shared kitchen. We chose to have breakfast there as well, which was buffet style. Not to forget about the pool and yoga Shala, great for some training during the stay. The beach is beautifully, with spectacular waves and great for surfing. Last but not least the hosts are super friendly and accommodating. We were sad, that we haven’t booked a longer stay!
Caecilia (10/5): Fantastisch verblijf - Prachtige locatie met fantastisch ontbijt. Met liefde zorg en aandacht klaargemaakt. Ook het gebouw was prachtig onderhouden. Er waren fietsen die je mocht gebruiken en een prachtige rondleiding op de farm erachter gekregen met extra aandacht voor de (wilde) dieren die er leven. Vele apen gezien.
Cornelia (9/5): Toll gelegene Unterkunft, in der man sich bald zuhause fühlt. - Die Unterkunft ist auf einer Naturstrasse erreichbar und liegt am wunderschönen langen Bluff Strand. Die sehr netten Gastgeber und Angestellten lassen einen zuhause fühlen. Sie geben gerne Tipps für Ausflüge und sind hilfsbereit. Die Atmosphäre ist ungezwungen. Das abwechslungsreiche, mit Liebe zubereitete Frühstücksbuffet hat uns sehr zugesagt und im umliegenden Garten haben wir täglich neue Tiere entdeckt. Unser Zimmer lag im Haupthaus hinter der etwas ringhörigen Küche. Die Transferkosten vom Hauptort aus belaufen sich auf 20$ mit dem Taxi, Colectivos fahren unregelmässig an die Playa Bluff. Das Meer ist super zum Surfen, schwimmen ist zu dieser Jahreszeit wegen der hohen Wellen nicht möglich.

Wenke (9/5): Schöner Rückzugsort - Die Unterkunft am Bluff Beach hatte eine schöne ruhige Lage (es braucht etwa 20-30 min in die Ortschaft). Es ist ein tolles Grundstück mit verschiedenen Häuschen, in den Bäumen sind vor allem Affen zu finden, die gern auf eine Banane vorbeikommen. Das Beach House dient als eine Art Gemeinschaftsbereich mit Küche und für das kleine Frühstücksbuffett. Der Ozean ist direkt über die Straße, allerdings eher Surferstrand, die Wellen sind laut. Es gibt einen Pool. Der Manager kümmert sich um alle Anfragen, Ausflüge etc. Man kann auch Massagen buchen. Die Unterkunft selber hat kein Restaurant, aber mehrere gute sind fußläufig erreichbar. Selbst im Dunkeln fühlt man sich hier nicht unsicher.

The hosts are very welcoming and serve the best breakfast we have had in 3 weeks of travelling Panama. Weweler (10/5): A true paradise - We had an amazing family holiday at Bluff Beach Retreat! Augusto and Anita and all staff are doing an excellent job to care for their guests. We felt very welcome, received many helpful recommendations and enjoyed the extremely delicious breakfast. Our room was clean at all times and very spacious for us three. There are only very few mosquitos, we felt safe and the beach right at across the road (which was not busy) was beautiful. Unlike some other hotels around here, ours was always quiet with only nature sounds to hear which we enjoyed. No music all day long, no queuing at the pool and the other guests were very friendly and nice to talk to. Make sure to do some grocery shopping before coming to the hotel as there are no shops around. We wish we could have stayed longer and would love to come back one day to this paradise place.

Tim (10/5): - Sehr freundliche Gastgeber, die sich Zeit nehmen im Garten nach Tieren mit uns zu suchen. Anita machte morgens ein sehr frisches Frühstück, mit frischen Smoothies und Eigerichten. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und ruhig und liegt direkt am Meer. Sehr schön ,um in Ruhe zu entspannen, aber auch um Faultiere und Affen zu beobachten. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben.

Thomas (9/5): Beautiful property perfect if you want to hide away in lush surroundings - Situated in a lush garden with a long pool. Very relaxed, nicely made and furnished. Plenty of space to hang out. Beach right in front of the property, you just need to cross the road (which is a euphemism as it is a dirt track full of potholes and puddles), there is very little traffic. Complimentary bikes. And plenty of fauna around. We could watch monkeys at breakfast and found plenty of sloths in the neighbourhood. Staff was very friendly and breakfast homemade and tasty. There are several restaurants in walking distance. Not so much a didn’t like but a thing you need to be aware of: due to the road conditions it takes about half an hour from the town centre to get there and it will cost twenty dollars one way. So if you want to go exploring the entire island or more you are probably too remote. If you want to primarily chill and explore the immediate neighbourhood on foot or bike or even just hide away in a beautiful spot then it is perfect. Check the season as rainy season apparently comes with high surf.
Lynn (10/5): Would love to go back and stay longer! - Great location right on the long quiet beautiful beach & far enough away from the madding crowds. With plenty of things to do & all the lovely restaurants nearby this was a perfect place for us to stay and unwind after a stay in the city. Would definitely recommend this place to those seeking this type of holiday. Augusto was particularly helpful with his local knowledge of the birds & wildlife in the surrounding area and also extremely helpful when booking taxis etc. Thank You for making our stay so memorable. We loved everything!
Meike (10/5): Exceptional - The Retreat is an amazing place on Isla Colon, if you prefer to stay out of town, enjoying the beauty of Bluff Beach. Our room was beautiful. The gardens are amazing, we have been spotting sloths, monkeys, lots of different species of hummingbird, toucan, and so much more. The breakfast was great and the staff always so helpful and welcoming. We went on a nature walk that Martin recommended to us with a resident biologist (Corinna) and we enjoyed it a lot! Else, we spent our days at the beach, in the garden, or at the pool - it was exactly what we have been looking for. Only that we had to leave :-)
Jason (10/5): - It's hard to share how wonderful this place really is to experience. Single guy traveling in wet season. This place is amazing. The people who run the place care, love the area and place and everything was more than I could imagine. It's not a hotel high rise, big city, AC hotel, a million TV channels, don't seek that here. Wifi is perfect though as needed. It's the most amazing experience waking up and living with the sounds of waves, birds, rain showers and amazing food. Don't miss the breakfast. Every place offers breakfast but in over a decade even with family I've never had a better more home cooked breakfast every morning. Those sweet ladies made my mornings and I am grateful for the care and kindness the island, resort and people brand to my trip. Highly recommended. Also want to share a family of 5 was also there in wet season with me and totally delightful with kids. A great place for all!
Fraenzi (10/5): Paradise on earth - The Bluff Beach Retreat is an absolute paradise. We felt comfortable from the first minute. The beach, the jungle, the nature is breathtaking. Added to this is the warmth and helpfulness of the hosts. We will miss the breakfast, the beautiful room, the sounds of nature, the sloths and monkeys. It was very sad for us and our children to drive. We will definitely come back. Everything was just perfect! Thank you!

Special thanks to Rico, who showed us where we could spot the sloth; we would not have been able to find it without him. We saw cappuccino and howler monkeys, aguoties, hummingbirds, from very close. We're sorry that we didn't have time to visit Ron's farm with limetrees and horses. But we tasted the lime pie in the restautant nextdoor, made with his limes, very delicious!

Extremely friendly ✨Anita and Augusto Bluff Beach Retreat. From Bumpy road for 30 minutes. And in the rain season the sea is very dangerous.
Nathalia (9/5): Rustic clean property with great pool and welcoming staff but not a swimming beach. - Beautiful property. Staff were warm and accommodating, treated us like family. Rooms are simple but clean. No A/C but didn’t need it surprisingly! Lulled to sleep with sounds of birds, monkeys and waves crashing 20 feet away. It’s about 30min drive (very bumpy unpaved road) one way into town. No markets otherwise so if you need some bread or milk… you’re outta luck and will have to pay $15 each way to go into town. Also, bluff beach is not for swimming, very strong waves so we couldn’t enjoy the beach. The other side of the island has the calmer ocean but paying $50+ and having to ride for 1hour+ to get to boca del Drago on the other side didn’t seem worth it.

There are so many nice features, e.g. eco-friendly resort design, bicycles, beach equipment, wildlife, comfortable lodging, location near beautiful beaches, dining nearby, awesome lap pool, and very friendly and attentive on-site hosts. It was very much a paradise and I hope to return someday.
