Jessica (10/5): Very peaceful, clean and comfortable - Very convenient for traveling, and right by food, grocery stores and also nature. I really liked that there was a short trail behind the property along a river. Was nice to be close for a short commute but still able to walk around and appreciate nature. The staff was very helpful and where I stayed, the Muse building I believe, had a beautiful courtyard and was very peaceful. In the kitchenette area, it would be helpful to have a sponge and paper towels. That way you’re able to clean dishes without running the dishwasher or using a dish towel. Also switching the coffeemaker in the rooms would be helpful. It’s an old school one and not very good. The coffee the hotel offers, however, is great

Great breakfast provided free each day with something for everyone. Convenient location to the University of Virginia as well as shopping and restaurants. Great bagel restaurant next door that can be walked to in less than 5 minutes. Nothing.

Carmelline (10/5): This is our third stay at the English Inn. We do enjoy your location and thank you for a nice stay. - Our room was very clean and well maintained. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels. We love the lounge in the lobby for a little relaxation and just to wait. The added lemonade was a nice touch for a long ride in. Breakfast was nice and well kept. The new look in the dining room with the new chairs was clean, airy, and well lit. We were a little early checking in because of traveling in for a graduation. We could not get in our room which was understandable, however, I think there should be some sort of room for travelers to be able to change when arriving early for an event. We had to wait for the lady to finish cleaning the hall bathroom to be able to get changed in there. A bit of a challenge but was doable. Just wish there was something more adequate for this.

Rooms are a good size with fridge and microwave. Shower had the most water pressure that I can ever recall from any hotel. Breakfast room was nicely laid out with plenty of food to eat. Like the all day coffee and tea plus the 4:00 tea and cookies. Website said pool was closed, but it actually was open. Nice pool for a hotel and enough space to swim laps. The workout facility was lacking though. Small with older equipment and just 1 treadmill.

Hot items included eggs, sausage, potatoes, stewed apples, oatmeal, real orange juice, etc. Nice location, unique English decor, spacious room (we had a superior king. Furniture appeared to be new, including the sofa bed. Air conditioner blew right on the bed. So that area was cold and the sitting area with the queen bed was a bit warm. A fan would help. Also, an extra stand for a suitcase would be nice. Space to put suitcases was a bit limited.

Even got to snag a cookie from the afternoon tea although it was past the time. The fridge was on the small side. The air conditioner keep cycling on and off all night disturbing my sleep. The breakfast was highly praised, but I thought it was just ok.

Room was quiet with little or no traffic noise, Room was pretty dark and dated - only 1 window for a 2-room suite. Probably good for someone staying there for an extended time on business as there was a small kitchen area and sitting room in addition to the bedroom.

Room service was non existent unless requested. Toilette plugged up; they fixed that immediately. Shower was a bit dated and the regulaton of the shower head was not good so floor got very wet. We were in a room with assistance with bars etc which were excellent but the shower floor was poorly designed and the shower head not able to be regulated so the floor was always wet.

The room was spacious and well maintained. The bathroom/shower was among the cleanest I've encountered in several years' travels. Check-in was quick and friendly. Surprised in the morning when the manager, Scott Stone, actually greeted me by my name. The breakfast was filling and delicious; love bacon. NOTHING! Absolutely nothing.

The room was very disappointing given the amount charged. I was there for three nights. The room was a suite - the front room was uncomfortable, dark, and the kitchenette dishes looked like they were scabbed together from a yard sale. I was really disappointed with the room.

The room was huge, the bed was comfy, the breakfast buffet was delicious and hearty. The room was clean and the property was comfortable to walk around. Alyssa (6/5): Overall a nice property but could’ve had some improvements for the price. - The room and pool were nice. Breakfast options were great. We had dirty/stained comforters on our beds. The staff member when we checked in was rude and short with us.

Jane (10/5): I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. - The breakfast exceeded my expectations. There was quite a selection and everything was fresh. The tea and cookies in the afternoon were also a really nice touch.

Matthew (6/5): - The decor and theme was fun, but they could have done more in the rooms to match the rest of the hotel The breakfast was good. The eggs were very tasty The sheets were very dirty and I had to replace them. Every time I got new sheets to replace the old ones, I got mine more dirty ones

Deborah (10/5): Great value and location! Delicious breakfast - Wonderful staff & breakfast was excellent! Fab location to Univ of VA Need better bath towels (small and rough) but this is a minor complaint as the hotel was wonderful!

Elise (8/5): This is a good place for people traveling with a dog. - The back parking lot was very convenient to our room and right by a green space where we could walk the dog. This made it very easy to travel with the dog. Floor was tile so didn't worry about the dog getting it dirty. I also used the fitness center, basic but decent The treadmill in the fitness center wasn't working.
sadia (2/5): Bad experience - Breakfast was decent and it’s a convenient location off of 29 Service was bad , I did not have my room cleaned for 3 days straight and I was told I would have to come and let them put me on a waitlist for cleaning( this was unheard of) , then my toilet flush stopped working and the front desk person who is usually on night duty said she would have the plumber fix it the next day. It did not get fixed the next day and I had to figure it out myself( YouTube to the rescue) ! Also room phone didn’t work for calling the front desk so I had to use my cellphone or come down to speak to the receptionist. The first day after check in there was a very bad smell from the room I was given , I wanted to change it and I was told all the rooms smell and I won’t find anything better. I think the front desk girl( again the night duty ) was not up for helping at all. I requested her to atleast show me the other room , reluctantly she did. It was a whole lot better. Still a but of bad odor ( like dirty socks) And I stayed here. I felt that I was stuck for 4 days in this place.

Sunandan (7/5): - Stylish architecture, fairly big room with attached bathroom, peaceful location, smooth check in and check out, a couple of nice restaurants close to the property, good value for money Property is a little away from the centre of town so not much to see around on foot, official check in and check out timings were atrocious (I think 4pm and 11am) so I had to change in a bathroom for a 2.30pm meeting- how far we have come from the days when check in and check out were both at 12 noon!
