We enjoyed Farhad’s piano playing in the evening! The coffee was strong and breakfast was delicious! As a person with gluten sensitivity it was a treat to have almost everything that was served already gluten free. Farhad is an excellent host and we hope to stay again in the future.

- Carl (10/5): - We enjoyed a 3 night stay at this beautiful property in early September. We walked up the hill from the ferry to a warm welcome from Farhad who gave us an overview of the property, what to expect form our stay, tips on seeing the island, and restaurant recommendations. He then led us to our room, the charming Garden Suite. The property is lovely with a beautiful garden, a gazebo and front porch to relax. All of the guests gather for a delicious full breakfast at 8:30, cooked and served by Farhad using fresh ingredients from the garden and eggs from the resident hens. Fresh cookies are delivered to each room around 7 PM, delicious Farhad also plays piano for his guests at 7:30 each night. Our schedule did not allow for attendance every night, but we thoroughly enjoyed the music when we were able to make it. He even has a harpsichord which he demonstrated and was a real treat. The location is walking distance to countless restaurants, shops, whale watching and adventure companies, rental cars and more. Note the property is a block or 2 up the hill from town, so might not be walkable for some.

Delicious daily breakfast with eggs and fruit from the garden. As a bonus in the evening the owner played the piano for entertainment. Restaurants and town very close by. We highly recommend this property.

And a bonus-our host performing classical music on his baby grand piano in the evening while we drank the wine he served. And let’s not forget the plate of his home baked cookies in our rooms.

He plays classical piano in the evening and makes farm-to-table breakfast using his backyard garden and 250 year old sour dough starter. We had a great time!

Our room had a small shower but it wasn’t too inconvenient as it worked well and was very functional.

- Leon (1/5): Bad - There’s nothing positive to say. I was prevented from checking in because there was a massive discrepancy between the information regarding pets on the booking.com website and the Friday Harbor Grand website. I was subsequently turned away at reception with no refund and told I should’ve consulted the hotel website for the correct pet policy. The lack of understanding from the owner of this hotel of the honest misunderstanding was nothing short of astounding, not to mention the hostile reception and lack of professionalism and customer service. I am not disputing the pet policy but if you’re going to take advantage of third party booking systems such as booking.com then at least ensure those sites are up to date with the correct terms and conditions.
- Rebeccah (8/5): Comfy and Convenient - A comfortable stay, walking distance from everything to do in Friday Harbor - no need to bring your car! Breakfast was plentiful and tasty - all vegetarian and mostly gluten-free. There's not a staffed front desk, so if your travel plans change, be sure to reach out to Farhad. Piano concerts were at 7:30pm every night, so we did not get to take advantage due to dinner reservations.

- Susan M (10/5): - What an extremely pleasant stay at the historic Friday Harbor Grand. The room was spacious, the beds were dreamy and we had a complete mini-kitchen. The proprietors were most gracious, helpful and knowledgeable about the area and things to do. The gourmet breakfasts were amazing and the owner catered to my husband's many dietary needs. In fact, they bake, cook and prepare everything on site, featuring many gluten-free items. The owner's concert-level pianist evening soiree with wine was lovely and the warm, home-made cookies capped it all off every evening. I would highly recommend the Grand and will stay here again when we return.

He played the piano and brought cookies to each room every night, made breakfast every morning, including kid-friendly options and gave us some great advice on places to visit and explore. Sheets to cover the bedspreads were provided since we brought our dogs but they also brought treats for the dogs which was very sweet. We very much enjoyed our stay and the kids loved the chickens!

- John (10/5): - We loved our stay at Friday Harbor Grand Bed and Breakfast. Mr. Farhad Ghatan is an excellent and knowledgeable host. His recommendations for restaurants and activities are on point. The breakfast is not only delicious but healthy as well. Fresh eggs from the on property chickens fixed with fresh vegetables, as well as a selection of fresh fruit and homemade breads. We had our own private suite and enjoyed our stay very much! The location is very convenient to downtown Friday Harbor. If you have a chance have a slice of pizza at Bakery San Juan, it is the best pizza we have ever eaten.

- Vedamarita (10/5): Beautiful rooms and wonderful host! - Our host was amazing. He was friendly, warm, and very interesting. Breakfast we're extremely tasty. Evenings were capped off with fresh cookies, a glass of wine, and Farhad playing beautiful music on the grand piano.
- Angie (8/5): Great bed and breakfast - The owner and staff were friendly and welcoming. The owner offered to give recommendations for restaurants in the area. There were cookies in our room the first evening after we had been out all day. The room had our own bathroom that was nice, and a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and a kettle for boiling water. There were dishes, silverware and supplies for you to clean yourself or leave for them. This was nice when we stopped at the market and bought a frozen meal for a snack. The entertainment was the owner playing piano for an hour each night, which was nice. You could sit downstairs and have a glass of wine and enjoy the music. I have a bad knee, so we went to our room to rest after being out all day and you could still hear the lovely music. The room was clean and at a great location to town. Super close to the ferry terminal. The owner and staff do a great job of maintaining the facility. The garden was so nice to look at with the Spring flowers. The pillows were a bit soft for our liking. However, that is only our preference. It would have been nice to know the day before what the breakfast would be served the next day.. I have a picky eater, so it would help us decide if we would enjoy their breakfast or head out to find something else.

Fahad’s nightly piano concerts on a 1910 Steinway, and soundproof rooms to allow me to keep writing on my typewriters late into the night. If you were thinking about staying here, and hesitating, stop hesitating. You will not be disappointed! It’s perfect
- Maggi (10/5): Whale Watching Get Away - My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Friday Harbor Grand B&B. The service was great. We arrived in Friday Harbor in the morning and were able to store our bags until Check-in that afternoon. Everything you need is in walking distance. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet, and has both heating and air conditioning. Breakfast was beautiful, delicious, and served with a smile at a lovely set table. We will definitely be back for another stay. Thank you Trish and Farhad for taking good care of us.

- Becki (8/5): Good location - We are not typical B&B customers, but we were hoping for more. The pillows were not great making for a bad nights sleep. Breakfast while yummy to some was gluten free with very particular flavors. We left both days to get breakfast elsewhere. The owner could not be more nice or welcoming. His recommendation for dinner was amazing and one our favorite meals of our extended PNW trip. The room was spacious and the location was good for being able to walk to everything in Friday Harbor.
