Guest Reviews
- Janice (6/5): - Advertised as having a restaurant on site but not the case and not many options close by given more remote location
Ok for one night.
- Cathryn (10/5): - Nice little place right off the highway with a lovely view of a small bay. Comfy bed and seemed newly remodeled. Vanessa who checked us in was delightful and helpful in directing us to the tiny local
Laundry. All
Round good stay.
- Alison (10/5): - Great little spot to stay along the Cabot Trail. Great view & the breakfast was delicious!
- Allison (8/5): - Old motel needing refurbishment. Beautiful view, friendly staff. Best to stay before cold weather hits, marble floors cold and shower area not heated.
- Angelica (6/5): - Older motel. Nice view
- girouard (10/5): - Very friendly staff , spacious room, nice views on the water
- Lloyd (6/5): - Poor attitude on check in
- Michael (10/5): - We had a terrific stay at the Duck Cove Inn and look forward to returning next summer.
- BELINDA (6/5): - Room was clean but very minimal
Old property rather unkept
- Kathryn (8/5): - Standard motel room
- Robert (8/5): - The room and bathroom were clean and recently renovated, except for bathroom door. I was disappointed that the restaurant listed only served breakfast. Location was good.
- Gerald (10/5): - Good parking, clean room and lovely staff, raining so stayed inside

Easy location to get too
- Grant (8/5): - Lovely balcony view over the harbour in a lovely fall forested area. Room prices were higher than expected, we seniors travelling could use a break ocassionally.
- Dan (8/5): - Check in was quick, efficient and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was good for basing a trip on the Cabot Trail. Balcony view was really good. Not a very good value for the class of room. Overall, a good choice for trekking the Cabot Trail
- Harry (10/5): - Beautiful view of Margaree Harbour
- Margaret (4/5): - Very minimal amenities for the price. Dated furniture
Very little staff
- Delvia (10/5): - Loved the owners, they are wonderful and take great pride in their establishment.
Newly renovated bathrooms and very clean rooms with great mattresses.
- Antonio (6/5): - the Cove inn is not a hotel its a motel needs some TLC.
- William (8/5): - The view was great
- Laurie (8/5): - The inn was a pleasant surprise! The online pictures do not reflect the updated flooring, furniture and bedding in the rooms. Better than expected.
- Eric (8/5): - This place is newly renovated, and great bang for buck in the area. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival.
- Tina (10/5): - Nice place very friendly owner. Breakfast was very good.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Basic motel. Slightly updated. Plastic mattress pad.
- Dennis (10/5): - Well managed and friendly
- Tassis (8/5): - Nice, clean and some things are renovated but some items were still a little outdated. Overall nice.
- David (2/5): - Had a car accident (that was not our fault) in Halifax on our way to the Duck Cove Inn. Called to cancel and was told they would not accept our cancellation request as they hold a "Strict, No Cancellations" policy. I am sure their lack of humanity carries over to the way they treat guests when they stay there. There are many other more attractive options nearby. Don't stay there.
- Janice (10/5): - The room is large and clean. Office staff friendly and helpful. Beautiful view from a deck off the room.
- Dan (8/5): - 0Pleasantly surprised by the room as the outside looks a little tired.
..
- John (8/5): - The property was super clean and quiet. The view from our room was great. Our only negatives were a lack of lighting and perhaps some sheer curtains which would provide some privacy and light.
- Cathy (10/5): - View
- Stephen (8/5): - The rooms were spacious and clean. View was amazing.
- Debora (10/5): - The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms have been and are being renovated and updated. Beautiful scenery. Rooms were clean. Easy parking and a balcony overlooking the water.
- Mary (2/5): - We were booked. Arrived for check in. Rude reception. We left and lost our money as they refused refund. Dirty, cluttered. All rooms had windows open on all units. Only one restaurant nearby, very basic and unacceptable. Motel was in an isolated area. Rating was well above what our experience was. Definitely would not recommend staying there.
- Mary (10/5): - Comfortable beds however the room and bathroom were dated and you could see patching on the walls.
- Bashir (6/5): - Most overpriced place. No coffee or tea in the room. If you want complimentary coffee you had to walk out of your room outside and walk 100 ft. to the reception to get it. There were no proper drinking glass in the room. Balcony was ugly overlooking a busy highway with two unlatching chairs. I would not recommend this place for the price you have to pay.
- Rick (8/5): - Beautiful view. Very friendly staff.
Working on upgrading units
- Randy (10/5): - We stayed one night and we were very pleased with the room and amenities provided.
- Beverley (10/5): - Property was clean and had everything we wanted in our one day stay. Will recommend to others.
- Matt (10/5): - comfortable beds and scenery and breakfast
- James (10/5): - The owners were very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are clean and large and recently updated. Great view from the property. The breakfast was good too.
- Warren (8/5): - Great people running the motel. Excellent breakfast and clean room with modern bathrooms.
- Aarani (10/5): - Amazing staff! We had a long day and they called us to ensure we could check in with ease. The place was also very well renovated and clean!
- Boris (8/5): - Room was recently nicely renovated. Mattress, pillows and bedding were top quality. Made for a nice sleep.
- Isabella (10/5): - It look like it was recently renovated inside.Clean .Spacious, and really peaceful .This is hands down the best stay I had and I had spent a week on the road already and stayed in some Fancy hotels.
- Jennifer (8/5): - The room had recently been renovated. Our teens loved the smart tv. Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash were great. The view is incredible but unfortunately the parking area blocks it if you are in the motel part of the property. The stay was quite expensive.
- Therese (8/5): - Comfy bed, refreshed look inside with lots of space to set up food. Quiet rooms.
- Wei (10/5): - We stayed only for a short overnight rest after hiking in the Cape Bretton, but the cleanliness of the room and newly renovated bathroom was impressed. There are a couple of quite sandy beaches close by to swim and watch the sunset and wake up to watch the sunrise and beautiful mountain and river next morning from the room window.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent stay! - We had the newly updated room, which had very comfortable beds and luxurious linens. We slept very well. The fridge was handy and the view was stunning. Nothing to complain about.
- Noorddin (10/5): View with best pictures - Location is great with amazing view and we enjoyed sunset there staff was very supportive and provide lots of recommendations.
Rooms are renovated
- Blain and Brenda (10/5): - Really good stay. Thank you.
- Lorne (8/5): - Old school motel that had great space in the main room, a clean bathroom and nice balcony with a view of the harbour.
- sri (2/5): - This hotel have zero consideration for customers issues. With AC strike, we had to cancel our trip. Almost every other hotel reversed their charges for me because of the extreme situation, but this one would not do it - even if they were informed good 2 days before. Not only that, they were a bit rude in their response.
My rating is simply based on this.
Besides they double charge me. And I had to call them - a bunch of times to get it reversed. Annoying.
- Vinh (10/5): - Great view. Quiet at night.
- Linda (6/5): - Nice view of River, walking distance to local beach, complimentary coffee snd tea
- Joyce (8/5): - Tidy rooms. Staff helpful with suggestions
- Kathy (10/5): - The view from the balcony was lovely. The bed was comfortable. The staff was helpful with suggestions.
- Catherine (10/5): - The room was clean, the view spectacular!!
- Leslie (8/5): - Nice view and convenient location.
Very clean, but housekeeping person needs to chill a bit. She was at our door right at 11 (we were a little slow to leave, but only by a few minutes). I said we’d be a few more minutes and she commented that we were her “last room” (not my issue).
- MARNA (10/5): Welcoming family run scenic - This lovely family run little lodge is clean & set between 2 water views. Quiet, comfy scenic & relaxing. Wake up to beautiful sunrise. Should have stayed longer!
- Karen (8/5): Great stay! - Very clean and loved the bed. Area is not great for restaurants though. Room has microwave and fridge to use. Plan food in advance. Excellent quiet beach nearby as well.
- Audrey (8/5): - nice area
- Marianne (10/5): - Lovely location, great service, updated rooms
- james (8/5): - No breakfast need to pay
- Robyn (8/5): - Nice spot, updated rooms, very clean, great location and nice breakfast at the restaurant. The owner was very nice and offered great service.
- Siobhan (10/5): Great stay - Great location, beds were comfy & room was clean. Really thankful for the microwave & mini fridge!!
- jason (10/5): - A very nice location with great service
- Margaret-Ann (10/5): - This was a wonderful stop on our NS tour! They were very accommodating as we showed up after the office (and most of NS, closed up for the night.) Great conversation was had in the morning at the restaurant with the manager and another patron. The view from the balcony was spectacular! I woke at 5:30 am to catch the sunrise. Stunning!
- Patrice (10/5): - Great place, close to some beautiful beach areas. Beds were very comfortable.
- Shawna (10/5): - We stayed 1 night in a room with two queen beds, which we found really comfortable. The bathroom looked newly renovated and was very clean. Very convenient location on the cabot trail. Just 1 restaurant nearby, which is nothing fancy but all we needed. Spent the evening at a fantastic beach nearby. I would recommend this stop and would stay here again.
- Roy (8/5): - We stayed in one of the two bedroom units. It has a fantastic view of the water. The beds were very comfortable, and the bedding was nice as well. The room would benefit from some fresh paint. The bathroom was fully remodeled. The only negative was the bathroom door looked like it had been trimmed top and bottom, and the luan had splintered when cut with a saw. It didn't affect the door, but it was somewhat unsightly. The co-owner, a Chinese lady was hilarious, very animated. Spoke English well.
- Doug (10/5): - The owners were very polite and friendly.
- Lalit (6/5): Not as the web leads you to believe - Vince and Vanessa were nice hosts but not hotrl operators. The web site was misleading and we were told it hadnt bern updated in years. There is a picture on the website that could never have been taken from the property. If you traveled over the bridge from the property yes.
The biggest disappointment was they do have a restaurant but it is closed for lunch and dinner. They will open it for bkfast if you ask them to. If not, a self serve coffee pot. The only place close to eat for dinner is Cheticamp which is 30 mins away and not safe on windy darks nights nor when the fog sets in. We did not feel it was worthy of the rate charged.
- Shawn (10/5): - One of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. Owners were great. Very good breakfast at a reasonable price.
- David (10/5): What a nice surprise! - A delightful surprise.
We usually want a stay that includes breakfast, but for what we needed when, this was the best choice. (Coffee was available gratis in the lobby and we planned our own breakfast ahead of time. But there is full breakfast service in their restaurant priced by menu choice).
But very happy we ended up there.
Traditional single story motel of a certain age, but the room was completely redone and modernized. On a hill with a stunning view.
We were running late for arrival (horrid traffic early in the day delayed our whole day) and got a call from the proprietor She was worried that we hadn't arrived yet, was close to 8, and she wanted to know if she should get any food ready for us because all the local restaurants would be closed.
Above and beyond.
- Alana (8/5): - Nice room. Outside could use a makeover, but seems like the management is working on it.
- Dale (8/5): - Older units but renovations have been done that make for a better experience.
- Mireille (10/5): - Un très bel accueil! Des chambres très confortables et un endroit très beau et tranquille!
- Juan Pablo (10/5): - Nice view of the bay, quiet location .
- Scott (10/5): - The outside looks a bit old, but the rooms are recently done over. Very nice.
- Daniel (8/5): - For one of the few accomodation options in the area, it was clean and quiet so that was a plus. The "Reserve now, pay later" was not applicable as they charged for the room 3 days prior to arriving. So where it tells you that you can pay at the accomodation upon arrival, this is not correct. They will charge your card before you arrive.
- Steven (10/5): - Over looked the water
- Courtney (10/5): - Staff were polite. Nice scenery!
- brian (6/5): - Property isnt even close to the photos or description and there were people staying there longterm in another building...sketchy
- Gaetan (8/5): - The lady at the front desk was funny, energetic and very fun to deal with! The room was clean, and had been renovated lately. Even with the AC on, it was a bit humid, but this was during a very hot week, so that might be why. A good stay, with a very nice view!!
- Nadia (10/5): - This property is in a great location. Vanessa is extremely welcoming. The room is spotless. In fact probably cleaning place ive ever been in. Even chairs outside to enjoy view were spotless.
I'd definitely come here again!
- Diana (10/5): - Clean. New bathrooms. Recently renovated. Great view.
- Brian (8/5): - The owners were very nice. Despite telling Expedia on the phone they would not charge a fee for service dog, they did. That said, they were helpful. I can tell they are working hard to improve the property, so there are pails of tar around, along with other supplies that could be a hazard, but that’s temporary. The views are stunning. Our room was very well furnished with an unusually comfortable bed. It was a very good sleep. I’d go back for sure.
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful Inn with an Amazing View! - We spent 10 days around Nova Scotia and Cape Breton and this was by far our favorite stay! We had a lower level room with a beautiful view of the cove and the ocean! There were walk out patio doors with chairs for each room and every room has a view that makes the stay that much more memorable. The owners who run the motel and restaurant were wonderful and very helpful suggesting things to see and do in the area. They recommended a beautiful beach a few miles down the road to watch the sunset that we would have never found if not for them. We did not get breakfast, but it is available for purchase in the restaurant part of the Inn and looked delicious. The coffee in the lobby was hot and fresh and was all we needed to get our day started. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely Location - Great view from front window. Excellent staff and service. Clean and updated rooms. Coffee and ice available.
- Neil (8/5): - Good overnight spot. Room clean and comfortable. Wifi needs improvement, was not usable.
- Ryan (10/5): - Great friendly staff, quick check in, great room with awesome tv and comfy beds
- Luc (8/5): - It's an older building but room was clean and spacious.
- DORIS (8/5): - The owners provided a very friendly atmosphere and clean accommodation. There is a lovely view and food is available on site.
- Clinton (10/5): Cleanest hotel/motel in Canada! - This is a great place to stay. One of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever been in. The staff will do anything to make the stay worthwhile.
- Mahnaz (10/5): - .
- Lynn (10/5): - Very quiet, very friendly staff, excellent beds
- michael (10/5): - Great staff!!
Great rooms!!! Clean, bright, awesome view, patio!!!!!!!
Great food!!!
Great price!!!
Thank you Vanessa and staff!!!
If I’m back I’ll be back
- fred (8/5): - Rooms are recently redone and very nice. Outside is dated, but okay. Owner/staff was very helpful. Ask for a room with a good view (not a lower floor room). Parking was good. Only complaint is for the price we paid, breakfast must be included.
- Jergen (8/5): Good overniter - Good location at start of Cabot Trail. Good food near by
