Guest Reviews
- Laura (8/5): - Lots of room in our cottage and everything we needed. Bathroom floor was a but dirty with some dust/hair but everything else was fine. We will be back, a nice affordable place to stay :)
- John (8/5): - I would stay there again, room was clean and view off the water
- Judy (10/5): - We stayed for two nights with our two dogs. Quiet spot with nice view of the lake. Close to all amenities. Room was clean and kitchen well supplied (except food which we brought ;) )
- Dorothy (8/5): Baseball provincials - Great location was easy check in and the staff was super friendly and nice
- Donna Faith (6/5): - Older property. A bit run down. Coffee maker but no filters. Had a critter odor. Uncomfortable beds.
- Victoria (6/5): - It was good for the price although I would like to see a tea kettle or something in the room so we could have tea in the morning without having to go out for it. The beds were only ok as we are seniors with back issues. We did not really sleep well.
- Marguerite (6/5): - Beautiful view.. everything needs updating…
- Fernando (8/5): - The property is close to shops and is pet friendly.
- Jo-Anne (8/5): - Owner's were terrific. There was a lot of junk, old cars, tvs, etc. laying around. Saturday night was really noisy with some party going on at one of the cottages...made it difficult to sleep. While the cottage was old, it was clean. The towels and dishes could use an uodate...but we can't complain. Other than the racket on Saturday night, we enjoyed our stay.
- James (6/5): - Property suited my purpose and was inexpensive, but could use upgrading (room, facilities, property)
- anita (10/5): - lovely pool and play area for families. we rented a cottage which had a mini kitchen so very handy for making a meal. in room coffee machine, microwave, fridge, stove etc. lovely view from windows looking out at the water. very quiet and well maintained property.
- Francis (10/5): - Super bien placé devant le lac. Nous avons été accueillis en Français. Parfait pour notre nuit et poursuivre la route.
- Donna (10/5): - Nice large rooms.
- Vern (6/5): - Property is badly in need of a upgrade... people are friendly but the rooms themselves are dated and unappealing.
- patricia (6/5): - The cabin was very dated but it was clean
- Roger (10/5): - Nice view of Bras Dor Lake
- Linda (8/5): - It was beautiful area , clean , owner was very nice , pool was just updated , lots of clean towels , cabin had everything we needed , only thing was and we knew before trip only double bed , Queen would have been nice , but all around great trip , wouldn't think twice about another stay
- Jennifer (10/5): - loved it!
- Paul (8/5): - property location was good.
- GURDARSHAN SINGH (10/5): - Helpful staff,,very good for stay close to the nature..
- Patricia (8/5): - Lack of electric outlets
- Janice (6/5): - Unfortunately, the area next to my room outside was no better then a dump.Garbage ,broken cars , pallets motors ,unbelievable. I can send a picture if you like. The room its self was good and clean.
- Shelly (10/5): - Room was clean, property is beautiful. Owner is super friendly. Only downside, no coffee in the room. Location is conveniently located. I would stay here afai .
- Russell (4/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms but the buildings are in very poor shape and the furniture and appliances are very, very old and worn.
- Donna (8/5): - Nothing fancy but clean
- Margaret (10/5): - She bent over backward to me my allergy concerns - really appreciated the understanding & effort
- Nicole (6/5): - You get what you pay for...remember that!!!
- Audrey (2/5): - They obviously weren't interested in our business. After making arrangements weeks beforehand, when we got there they were locked up tight. We saw them in the office, so we rang the number posted on the office door but got no answer. Strange way to do business. We went down the road to a super friendly hotel that actually wanted our business.
- Sharon (6/5): - should replace carpet in the room and the flooring in the bathroom was all flipping up.
- Karen H (6/5): - It is an older property but was neat and tidy. Found the bed a little uncomfortable but otherwise good for the price
- Maria (8/5): - Nice and quiet.
- Melissa (10/5): - We go there every year for the past 4 years
- Diane (4/5): - The staff were friendly and quick the room was clean but it didn’t have any air circulation when you put the heat on to warm up it got very stuffy and you had to open a window after a shower all the windows were saturated I would not stay there again even though it was clean and a good price
- Brian (10/5): Great place to stay. - The hosts were great and very helpfull. This is a great place to stay. Family oriented with an outdoor pool, play area for kids, bbq's abd fire pit and laundry. Highly recommend it.
- Richard (10/5): - Great spot gor famlies
- stephanie (8/5): - Front staff pretty unfriendly. Cottage was ok, window wouldn't shut all the way so it was noisy.
- Earle (6/5): - beds were uncomfortable. Conveniently located for visiting the area near St Peter's, N.S.
- Chantal (8/5): - Matress was not confortable and one bed kept broken down. Otherwise it was nice.
- Lorinda (10/5): - Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time
- James (8/5): - Our stay was great. It was perfect with our young kids. Being able to sit, relax and watch our kids from the cabin deck while they played in the playground was what everyone needed.
- Maria-Cristina (10/5): - Owner is super lovely, friendly, chatty. Room is very clean, pool was in excellent condition and water quite warm and pleasant. Overall 5 star rating from us!
- Chad (10/5): - The owners are super friendly and accommodating. The cottages were nice and very clean. The only thing is they need either some fans or window A/C units.
- Jo-Ann (10/5): - An easy drive from the ferry. Cool national historic park just up the road snd Louies diner was fabulous food. Second stay here. First time during a hurricane. Owners are new but just as caring as previous. Love this place.
- Genevieve (10/5): - Great experience except coffee maker didn’t work..... no one at office when we went to inform them.
- Roger (8/5): - they need better frying pans, everything sticks and burns, and bbq should be free usage.
- Tracey and Jeff (8/5): - the cottages where just a little out of date but it was still nice, clean and welcoming
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place was very old and outdated but it was very clean. The mattress on the bed was horrible.
- xiaoming (4/5): - Location was convenient.
Smelled strongly of mildew and mold. Towels were tiny. Uncomfortable seating. Very loud - no sound proofing.
- Bill (10/5): This was stay number four at Joyce's ! - All stays have been excellent.Very clean and helpful staff. Will be going back again next spring.
- Charlie (8/5): - It was fine. We slept well.
- Jeanine (8/5): - Vew if the lake
- Tracey (2/5): - I would not stay here again. I payed for 3 nights but only stayed 2. The place needs a total remodel. It was one of the most rundown places I have stayed in over 40 years. Spiderwebs all over the front deck of our cabin, sticky doorknobs and table. The front doormat was absolutely filthy and looks like it was purchased in the 70's. I can't believe the reviews were positive about this place and wonder why the poor reviews were few and far between. Expedia should rethink this one.
- Chris (10/5): - This is a great spot. Lots of room. Good kitchen. Nice field and pool and park for the kids on the property. Nice deck with a view of the water.
Only issue with our room was a very uncomfortable futon.
- Chris (10/5): - Great spot. The space is amazing for the price. Friendly staff.
- Andrea (4/5): - Limited amenities. Out of date. Not ADA compliant. Clean room. Beautiful view.
- mike (8/5): - was what we excpeted
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Mattress was awful. Could not sleep on it. The motel room itself was fine and clean.
- John L (8/5): - The service and cleanliness is great. The property is aging and some of the equipment is definitely in need of replacement. The toilets are very low which is difficult for handicapped people. Stayed here three times this summer.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Excellent staff... the walls were a little thin, though and one group was up all night partying :(
- Edward (8/5): - The motel was clean. Very little in the way of outlets to recharge devices. TV only had 1 English channel.
- Jacquelyn (8/5): - The view of the lake was great, the kids loved the pool and fire pit option. Only down side was no air conditioning in the motel (unsure if there is in the newer cabins) and it was HOT (30°c in the room) and there were only 2 plugs so even a fan wasnt an option.
- Peter (8/5): - Cute, little place to stay. We arrived later than expected and the owner was very nice about it. I went swimming at dusk and it was pretty dark but one of the staff members came over and put lights up for me which was appreciated. The decor is a bit outdated but a lot of the non chain places are. It was clean and that's really all that matters. We thought the fridge wasn't working but realized it was unplugged so our fault. Lol We would definetely stay again if in the area.
- DR. DAWN (4/5): OUCH-beds! Staff friendly. Rough shape but clean. - OUCH, the beds are very saggy causing us to fold into the middle. Sheets and towels are very thin. It was very nice to have a fridge but no coffee pot :(. No coffee anywhere on site. Shower was lovely and hot, thank you. Very friendly owner - chatty and nice, but didn't know a lot of tourist things to do and didn't have any tourist maps/info to share, which we thought was odd as it was the only place on our 10 day holiday that didn't have tips and recommendations of things to see around the area. The place was clean but our sleep was so poor due to the poor quality beds that the next day we were dragging. The motel is not near any establishments for food, activities, etc. so having coffee in the rooms would be sooooo nice. From the motel, you can see the water, have to cross the main hwy to access the water. The motel has so much potential but right now it is in rough shape (e.g., carpets very old/thin). I very much appreciated how clean the room was - it is hard to keep older rooms clean. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room had two double size beds- the mattress was most uncomfortable. We were happy with the price and the accommodation was clean and fresh. The staff were very pleasant.
- Lorraine (8/5): - The accommodations were very clean and the staff friendly.
The owners are in the process of modernizing aspects of the cottages/rooms. We had everything we needed and the playground was a huge hit with the kids. I would not hesitate to go back and recommend to others.
- Daniel (6/5): A quick visit. - We stopped in for one night. Close to roadway and traffic noice. It served its purpose. Place needs a facelift but it offers the basics. A good location, near food and shops. Nice lake view.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was okay. Clean and kids loved the pool . But most of the other things needed updating.
- Tammy (8/5): Friendly and clean spot, for a night or two. - The first thing that needs to be said is that the owners are super nice and are working hard to make updates. The rooms are clean, however, quite dated and in need of some renovations. Great place to stay for a night or two, convenient to St. Peter’s, and has so nice amenities. If you want to bbq, They are quick to provide a bbq, and they even provided wood for a fire in the designated area that evening. Beds are definitely hard and basic but clean. Welcoming and accommodating place to stay!
- JayJohnston (8/5): - I liked the cottage it was pleasant. The fridge could use an update and maybe some better utensils for bbqing. Outdoor garbage could be looked at for improvement.
- Candace (10/5): - Very accommodating, great price and family friendly. 2
- Corrinne (10/5): - Great customer service, very clean and the kids have alot of fun just left and thet are already asking about going back highly reccomend
- Joe (8/5): - Great stay great owners, clean room with a great view, grounds are very nicely kept.
- Georgina (10/5): Trip - It was great
- Annette (8/5): - Although the rooms could use updating, they were clean, quiet and roomy. I would definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location for attending the Pirate Festival! The pirate ships even came and turned around out on the water right in front of the cabins
- Rick (8/5): - A little out dated . The one unit appliance is old and the freezer door kept falling off.
Room was dark panelling could be updated . Beds where not that comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice spot, great setting across from the Bras dOr.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, friendly and helpful owner, pool, very clean ...would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was clean and quiet. The buildings are old and not level the windows wouldn't close properly. We had been told at our check in that the satellite TV was down however we never did have it fixed until late the following night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property is under a few renovations. was fair for the price but a little rustic for me.
- Don (6/5): - Mattresses were not comfortable for older bodies. Room dated but clean. Great location and views. Management very good
