- Birgit (10/5): - Es war meine zweite Unterkunft in Kanada und es war super. Fantastischer Blick auf den St. Lorenz Strom mit herrlichem Sonnenuntergang. Zimmer war eigentlich mit Kühlschrank gebucht, aber offensichtlich war es wieder über Expedia/Hotels.com falsch weitergeleitet etc. Aber mir wurde dann das Zimmer mit Kühlschrank gegeben, zum mal es ja auch noch frei war. Der Preis war der gleiche. Leider war man etwas unflexibel beim Check in. Ich war früher dort und ich meine man kann ja organisieren, dass dann mein Zimmer als erstes fertig gemacht wird. Und 16.00 Uhr war es immer noch nicht fertig. Das kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Dafür ein Minuspunkt.

- Julie (4/5): - Gentlemen on the desk for very pleasant and accommodating. However the section of the main building we were in was extremely noisy and we had to ask for another room in the motel outside of the main building. The main building rooms definitely needs some updating.

The rooms are modern looking with all the amenities. Chef Guillaume LePage is at April Resto in the Auberge. He is doing amazing things with the menu. Dverything is tasteful. I can go on znd on. - jocelyn (10/5): - We were greeted by welcoming staff? Nice lobby with some common areas and a restaurant in the main lodge. The rooms have nice beds with cotton sheets and some antique furniture, but old carpets and blank walls, one sliding door with a view of the parking lot and the St. Lawrence River. The rooms in the newer motel face the water and all have a larger patio or balcony for a higher price. It's a charming hotel on the water with Adirondack chairs facing the river.

- julien (10/5): - Room is loud, you hear the musique, next rooms, everything. Better sleep with earplugs. But the place is beautiful and also the view. The restaurant is amazing.
- mary (8/5): - We had been there before and thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation and breakfast. We were in the lower area overlooking the river. I didn't know when we booked that we would be on the second floor of the bigger building. Hard to carry all of the belongings with us as we are a couple in our 70's.
- tracey (10/5): - At first glance the Inn had great curb appeal, and who could fault the view of the St Lawrence! The receptionist was really welcoming and ourselves being non French speaking as able to help us in what was needed. Our room had a great view and the bed really comfortable. I like that the furniture was antique looking and made the room feel like your own bedroom. The street it is on is pretty quite and I had a great walk to see the restoration of the water front that is happening. The properties are beautiful and the area well kept. We had dinner and breakfast in the Inn, excellent food and excellent service. Out server was great at helping us through the menu and overall we would not hesitate in returning.

- Karen (8/5): - Easy to get to. Plain simple rooms right on the St Lawrence river. We had the patio door open for fresh air and the sound of the waves. Coffee was available at 600 am at the front desk. We did not stay for breakfast which starts at 800 am. We were expecting to eat at the restaurant but it was closed on Monday night. Had to drive 10 min into town to eat. Great value would stay there again.

- Adam (6/5): - Standard value motel. The room had a nice balcony and view. The cleanliness was standard. Originally I had booked for a room with bath and shower, but due to an issue with their reservation system, we received one with a shower only. I didn’t bother to contest this the next day. The restaurant was quite overpriced for the quality of the cuisine, although the use of local ingredients was nice. The serving staff was friendly, although I speak French. I am unsure how my experience would have been if I were a tourist who did not. (However one of the staff, a young server at the restaurant, did offer to speak to us in English if we desired, which was refreshing as a customer of the motel). However, apart from that the stay was ok.
- Kelly (6/5): - As you walk in the main area/ lobby is very boutique and rustic. Staff were friendly and we were mostly able to get through with their limited English. We were asked if we wanted to book dinner which we declined as we wanted to drive into town and check out the area which has a beautiful little Main Street with tons of restaurants. I did however head the food is good at this place. Our room however was much to be desired. Everything was old, beds were terrible, paint peeling, out toilet clogged but we were able to fix it ourselves, the tv was teeny, no fridge, the balcony chairs where old and dirty, the drapes were ripped, the porcelain in the sink was chipped and the tapped dropped constantly. The old carpet was gross. We could hear everything next door to us even the man snoring at night.. that’s after the kids heard the hanky panky.. lucky he didn’t last too long! The view was beautiful and it was nice unset and sunrise. And parking was free and plenty. The drinks at the bar was good.. especially the spicy margaritta. We would not recommend or go back until they do a full renovation because the property has a lot of potential. I stayed in the motel side, not sure how the other areas are.

- Colleen (6/5): - The room with the patio is worth it for the view alone. But we arrived on a Monday and their restaurant is closed so we had to drive to town. Not a huge deal bc we found amazing local pizza place and a salad from IGA to sit on our deck and watch the sunset. Beds were fine & the space was adequate for what we needed. Note - they don’t have great toiletries so make sure I have ur own! Also absolutely no early access - we popped by just to check and the front desk staff were very clear that we couldn’t have access to the room until 4pm.

The lady at the reception wouldn't allow us to check in early even though the room was ready. It caused a line-up of people at 4:00 p.m. Great view from the small balcony though. No fridge in the room. It would have been nice to have one. The TV screen was put on a small table and it was too low to be able to watch it from the bed.

- Sean (8/5): - The common areas were gorgeous and cozy. The restaurant was amazing and you should definitely eat there.. big portions and great taste. The location was beautiful. The rooms are very basic, but at this price it's what you'd expect. However, the soundproofing in the rooms is very poor, you can hear the people in the next rooms as if they were in your room. In addition, the second night we were there, there was a huge amount of noise coming from the restaurant. We had to go down and ask them to turn down the music. Then there was banging and crashing for about an hour and the sound of something, (vacuuming?) after the restaurant closed. We got a very poor sleep that night. The staff of the restaurant have to be more aware of how much noise they make... maybe leave the heavy cleaning until daytime hours?

Regardless, I would stay here again. Fantastic view and for a very reasonable price. Great friendly and welcoming staff. There is a restaurant and small lounge on site. Nice, but a pricey menu.

- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we got to our room, it was hot - easily over 30 degrees C. When I told the front desk, I was told that if I opened the deck door it would cool down in 15 minutes. That didn’t work. The door was open all night, but it stayed hot and our whole family had to sleep in the buff. Fortunately our children are young enough that they won’t be scarred by it. The next morning, when I told the front desk person they should have opened the balcony door all day before we arrived, I was told I could have asked for a fan - why didn’t the person tell me that the day before when I said the room was too hot??? It was a horrible experience and you should stay there unless you want to sleep in a sauna.

Door to room opened only halfway, there was no air coming in the bathroom and light was dim. The restaurant in the auberge was pricy. There were no stores or restaurants in the area
- Laury (8/5): A nice alternative to town motels - Really nice hotel out of town on the river. Dated but charming. Dinner was elegant but not fabulous. My duck was over cooked and dry. Breakfast buffet was much better!

The dining area had a beautiful view of the St; Lawrence with a classic European style continental breakfast. Our room was in the motel-style building with a deck right on the water -great sunsets! Room was clean but could use updating.

- Wayne (8/5): Great stopover choice - We stayed only one night en route from Ontario to Maritimes. Room on upper level of one of the two-storey motel wings was small, but fine for two. Comfortable, well-equipped and quiet. Had a small balcony overlooking river that was great to relax with a drink after long drive. Main building has a nice restaurant overlooking the river. Not inexpensive, but very reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes on the varied menu; staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. (Decided to splurge on the seafood platter for two—highly recommended!) The chef was sick on the day of our departure, so the breakfast menu wasn't available. Auberge still laid on a very good cold buffet. Though certainly a great stopover choice, location would make it a good base for longer stays to explore the region.
- Mary (4/5): location, location... - Initially I thought it would be a great ending for the last night of my trip - old hotel, charming public rooms, by the shore with a view from my second floor balcony of the water, pleasant room and furnishings...but I soon realized I was over the kitchen, with the incessant exhaust fan right below that lovely balcony, noisy and malodorous, and obviously no sound-proofing whatsoever as the slamming and banging from below did not cease until midnight, despite my visit to the front desk at 11 PM to ask that it be brought to a lower level. I'm sure a stay in another part of the hotel would be more pleasant, but my experience was definitely not.

- Louise (4/5): Dining room - Can't understand that they could / would not have a table for 4 for dinner at any time between 7:00 and 8:15, since we were staying in the hôtel. Because they turned us down for dinner, we chose to also have breakfast at another hôtel. I am not sure we will return to this hôtel, where we stayed many times in the last few years.

- Stu (8/5): Nice Auberge on the River - Great view of the St. Lawrence. Although there was no A/C there seems to be always a nice cool breeze off the water. We stayed twice (going and returning from the Cabot Trail) and had a nice experience both stays.
- Carol (10/5): Road trip home from PEI - This is a beautiful Inn and motel right on the water in a unique little area just off Hwy 20. The view is amazing, the room is very comfortable with a lovely balcony. The dinner in the restaurant overlooking the water was one of the best we've ever had! I will return! Only negative aspect was that the walks are very thin and noise from room next door was disturbing.
- Karen (8/5): A Gem of a spot! - They say you can't have everything and this is true for this hotel. It is quite charming and exquisitely locate it on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. However, it lacks air conditioning which can be a challenge at 32°C! It means you have to leave so windows in the doors open to get a Crossbreeze and then you hear everything that everyone close by is saying! That being said, We always look forward to stopping here as it is totally off the beaten path and the food in the dining room is always excellent! True French cooking and fine wine choices as well! This was our fourth stay here in five years and it was nice to see that they have updated some of their furniture in the rooms and have added privacy walls on the balconies. An inroom coffee pot would be desirable.

- Eric (8/5): Great setting on the St Lawrence River - Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. However, the common spaces in the Auberge (lounge and dining room) are quite elegant. And the setting, overlooking the St Lawrence, is dramatic. Notre Dame du Portage is a lovely village with good opportunities to walk or cycle. Our only disappointment was that there was no supper the night we stayed --- apparently the chef was ill. But Riviere du Loup is only a few kms away and we were able to pick up lobster, salad, wine, etc and we managed quite well. We hope to return another time to sample the intriguing supper menu.
- Diane (4/5): A Let Down - On arrival we were offered an "upgrade" for the same price from the main house to one of the motel rooms. We accepted as the motel rooms had balconies overlooking the river. However.......on opening the door to our room and flicking the light switch, the dimmest light I've ever seen came on (40 watt?) to light the whole room. Additional lighting was one table lamp with another dim bulb. The only bright light was in the bathroom. The beds were so hard it was like sleeping on a board which did NOT help my artificial hip at all! There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, which would have been nice rather than making a trek to the main house a late night drink. All in all, at the end of a long drive from Saint John and a tour of the Maritimes, it was the most disappointing place we stayed in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): A beautiful hotel in need of TLC - The ocean view from this hotel is absolutely spectacular. The hotel staff is also very polite and efficient. Unfortunately, the room, washroom, and TV were very dated. We were very disappointed. No flat screen TV, no telephone, etc. On the other hand, the breakfast was delicious, the dining room decor beautiful and century old, and the mattress comfortable.

- Tom (8/5): Beautiful surroundings but......... - Our room was not air conditioned and therefore very hot and extremely stuffy. The hotel provided a small fan when we asked for it. Luckily it cooled off over night. Also, the kitchen exhaust fan was just below out balcony and was quite noisy plus all the kitchen smells (good and bad) came up into ur room. Closing the patio worked for the smell and noise but not for the heat
