- Barbora (9/5): - Warm welcome, kind and friendly staff, comfortable room fitted both with heating and fan. Nice beddings.
- Paul (9/5): Excellent first-time experience for my son - This was a great find and as my son's first experience of staying in a hotel he was very impressed. Easy to get bus to the city centre and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful ... some I know from experience is not always present in the larger chains. Breakfast was excellent and the welcome was warm! Thank you so much, we will visit again Nothing we didn't like it was great value for money

- Gilbert (8/5): A nice place to spend the night. - Very good value, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast! Although the bathroom wasn't en suite, we knew this and the shower was lovely. Clean and convenient. Quite a long walk into the centre but manageable. The automatic and loud alarm alert from the garage opposite going off on a regular basis was a bit irritating.
- Jane (10/5): Me and my friend Dee had a lovely stay it was so welcoming and friendly it was comfortable friendly and breakfast spot o - It was very friendly and comfortable and I liked the original features x The old building had a lot of character

- Annie (8/5): Lovely hosts and excellent value for money - Used this as a base for visiting my son at Durham University for the weekend. The location was good, although we did use the car for getting into Durham city centre. Lovely hosts who took care of us very well and an excellent cooked breakfast. The room was rather small but cosy and the beds were comfortable. Incredibly good value for money Very little! The room was a little dated and additional power points would have been useful as we had to rummage behind furniture and unplug other appliances to charge mobile phones etc. Not a big deal but maybe one for the list when there is any other updating being done.
- CHARLES (9/5): - Great breakfast, set me up for the day. I enjoyed the walk into town. Very good value for money.
Thanks I was very satisfied
- David (10/5): Perfect - Breakfast was excellent service was very good atmosphere was very good parking just outside door.Sarah and James were always very helpful.Room was good with a end suite ideally placed area for getting to university for granddaughter graduation For us it was ideal
- Judith (8/5): Useful location for town/buses. Excellent breakfasts. - Breakfast
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Clean. Noise of toilet flushing. Room 5.
- Rick (8/5): Value for money - Warm shower, comfy bed and nice breakfast.
- Ross (8/5): -
- Gerhard (6/5): -
- Josephine (8/5): A very comfy stay - The hosts and locals in the pub were super friendly - I wish this was my local boozer. The cooked full English Breakfast was great. Could also have cereal, pastries and juice.
- Matthew (7/5): - The breakfast was good, the staff were friendly and professional. Budget friendly, and good value. The only thing I was disappointed with was that the surfaces were clearly not wiped down, there was still some tomato sauce and even corn on the table (pizza?)
- Margaret (10/5): Excellent value, friendly and welcoming hosts - Lovely food we'll cooked and presentrd Nothing
- David (8/5): - Friendly staff, great breakfast. Comfy warm beds. Lots of available parking. Old School LED light bulbs made the room feel gloomy. Decoration a little tired.
- Imee (8/5): But still hippy to stay next time, hopefully they will put room fragrance next time to make it more nicer and accommodat - It’s near to my son, staff very nice and accommodating Little bit cold and slightly smell like smell of a dog
- Mike (10/5): -
- Büşra (8/5): A nice breakfast and a warm atmosphere at a reasonable price - Burada yalnızca bir gece geçirdik ama konaklamamızdan memnunduk.
We only stayed here for one night, but we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was clean and pleasant. Basic items you might need were available in the room (kettle, tea, coffee, towels, etc.).
The staff were very careful. I would especially like to thank the hotel owner again for the breakfast. We had a peaceful and relaxing night.
There are numerous shops around the hotel where you can do your shopping. There is a large Tesco directly opposite the hotel.
The only thing that bothered us about our stay was that the bathroom was outside the room. This was mentioned in the advertisement, but I hadn't noticed it. I wanted to point this out for people who aren't attentive "like me".
The room is a bit small and getting to the city centre takes a bit longer than you'd expect for a city of this size.
- Mark (6/5): Very friendly and pleasant place to stay for a work one night stay. vGood breakfast. - Fast check-in and staff were very welcoming. Room was warm and had everything you need for a working stay. Breakfast was excellent. Overall very pleasant and freindly atmosphere.
- Barbara (10/5): Durham visit - Clean, tidy with friendly helpful staff Nothing
- Susan (9/5): Great place to stay when visiting Durham, clean room, friendly staff and a lovely breakfast, what more could you want. - Great location on frequent bus routes from the centre. Clean room with everything you need. Come & go with your own keys. Friendly staff and locals in the Bar, plus a great breakfast.
- Sades (10/5): -
- Cem Ekin (9/5): Great inn, 100% recommend. - Considering the price for the hotel, the breakfast was so good. Room & cleanliness was fine but again very good compared to the price paid. Shared toilet was so clean. Even if it is "shared" bath, all rooms had their own bath except mine. so technically my shared bath was private too. nothing to worry. Price/location was amazing. Room was tired looking as it is just an inn style which is part of the aesthetic, but for a couple of days stay, it is great.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Little gem of a place! - Visited Durham for the Lumiere Festival, stayed at the Gilesgate Moor Hotel for very reasonably priced bed and breakfast (which was delicious). Had a lovely welcome by the landlord and landlady, after walking round Durham all day, it was great to relax, unwind, and have a laugh with such friendly people! Very enjoyable short stay, would absolutely recommend! Thanks 😁😁😁 Nothing
- Logan (9/5): - The inclusive breakfast was lovely, and really capped off a lovely stay. The beds were comfortable, the rooms quite, and the bathroom adequate. There is also a supermarket directly across the road. The hotel is a reasonable distance from the centre city, and requires either a bus or a decent walk to get in.
- Debbie (10/5): Pleasant stay. - The hosts were very nice. Farther than the train station and the other sights.
- Hannah (9/5): Great affordable place to stay for a visit to the city for leisure or work. - Clean room and bathroom. Quiet at night. Lovely hosts. Friendly bar. Good bus routes into central Durham with stops within an easy level walk.
- Patricia (9/5): Great place for overnight stay in Durham - Warm, comfortable room and bed, good breakfast, friendly hosts
- Cameron (9/5): -
- Susan (10/5): -
- Manuela (9/5): - Lo staff è molto accogliente. La colazione abbondante! Un ambiente familiare. La moquette
- Holmes (10/5): Personable English pub owners made this the best ever. - Old charm with updated rooms. The full breakfast service was exceptional, beaten only by the Sunday lunch. Smallish room had a fine en suite very clean bath.
- Trevor (8/5): - Warm welcome. Comfy room easy parking. Staff very helpful . Excellent hot breakfast. Would stay there again.
Would recommend this property.
- Kevin (8/5): - Quiet and relaxing. Staff great. beds comfortable. Room basic but adequate. Breakfast really good.
- Molly (7/5): Everything we needed . Budget but clean, friendly and comfy - Really friendly , eager to please and welcoming.
Lovely vegetarian breakfast and comfy beds . Decor a bit tired but clean and comfy
- Neil (9/5): Nothing too much trouble excellent value - Friendly pub type environment with accommodation above. Everything there you d ever need Nothing
- Manuela (8/5): - La calorosa accoglienza dello staff. La colazione è eccellente. Un ambiente molto familiare.
- Manuela (8/5): - Lo staff è accogliente e gentile. La colazione ricca. Un ambiente familiare e accogliente.
- Matt (10/5): - Great value for money and rooms really good for the price and had everything we needed. Particularly liked large bedside table space and conveniently place bedside plug sockets and plenty of coat hooks in room and en suite. Quite a large telly too. Room and ensuite shower werent huge but more than adequate for our stay. Full english was decent too, again great value given the price. Location worked for us and parking was easy albeit not a dedicated car park for the pub. Advertised checkin was a bit later than most places we've stayed (4pm) but they didnt mind when we turned up a little early. Sunday breakfast time of 7-8am was a bit brutal too but worth it.

- Jim (7/5): -

- Denise (10/5): It was an amazing stay and I loved everything about the place - the hosts were amazing and treated me like family. they went over and above to make sure I was comfortable in every way. Helped me call and uber and order food. I loved the old traditional pub and the fantastic bathtub. what a luxury they are hard to come by in england. The hotel is right by the bus going into the city and there is a shopping center a few blocks away with great shops and grocery stores. the breakfast every morning was included and a delicious full english with coffee in the french press. Also coffee in the room! Amazing value for money. The beds were a litlle hard for my taste, but it was fine because i was able to take a mattress pad off the other bed and add it which made it perfect! I seriously have nothing but positive things to say! i will definately go back
- Maria (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay. The room was quite compact but everything was clean and comfortable. The location is a short bus ride from the city centre, so it’s quite convenient. The real highlight was the owners — they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Their kindness made our stay much more enjoyable. -
- JK Lau (9/5): -
- Marc (10/5): -
- Justin (8/5): Clean, comfortable and convenient - Breakfast was good, hot coffee and teas with also hot food or cereals and pastries prepared. Room was clean and cosy and bed was comfortable. Location is good too, accessible from Durham city via bus and plenty of grocery options within walking distance.
- Alan (10/5): - Very homely
- Anne (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Linda (7/5): Good value in Durham - A quaint little pub a little out of the city center but close to a reliable bus service. Nothing. It suited our needs just fine.
- Timothy (8/5): Good value and friendly place. - We were made very welcome by James. Our room, although small, was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Sarah is a lovely and generous host. She cooked us great breakfasts. The mattresses are a bit thin.
- David (10/5): Lovely stay - Had a great stay at the Gilesgate Moor, really friendly welcome from the lovely owners James and Sarah. Location is great, just a 15/20 minute walk into the centre of Durham. Clean room with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Beds were comfy and the fresh home-cooked breakfast was amazing !!
Great value for money, we always choose this hotel when visiting Durham.
- Robert (8/5): - Cheap and cheerful with excellent staff and really nice breakfast not too far from town by bus Nothing
- Francine (9/5): Cosy convenient - Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Staff very nice
- Michael (10/5): Made welcome, excellent breakfast. - Made welcome, excellent breakfast. n/a
- Stephen (8/5): Overall great value for money. - Staff were very helpful and attentive and the breakfast was great. Relatively quiet area and there were several parknig spots on the road outside the hotel. Worst bit for us was the road noise as our room faced a fairly busy road. Fortunately not that bad overnight so it did not disturb our sleep.
- Daniel (8/5): - The property was clean and comfortable and the full English breakfast was amazing!
- robert (10/5): -

- Wilkinson (8/5): -
- George (9/5): Great service and value for money in a very convenient location. - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was very good with generous portions.
There was flexibility with getting in and out late which was helpful as there was possibility that we would be coming back very late at night. There was some road noise at night.
There was a lack of plugs in the room for charging phones and apple watch.
- Paul (9/5): - Very good service staff were welcoming Posabley have to park on the street
- Dai (8/5): Weekend in Durham - The whole booking experience was spot on. I messaged the hotel to ask for an early check-in (at no extra cost, nice touch)arrived early, and the room was ready to check in. Breakfast in the morning was really good even though I was late for breakfast. Sarah went out of her way to make me a full English, I would definitely stay here again.
