Guest Reviews
- Lesley (8/5): - Very beautiful property, comfortable, quiet, well organized keyless entry.
- Lucy (10/5): Great - Great little studio flat. Perfect for 2 people. Kitchen well equipped, great hair dryer, lovely towels, comfy bed, great all round apartment. Didn’t bother me but 2 flights of stairs into the rafters of the house for anyone with mobility issues. Very comfortable, wound stay again.
- Janeetta (8/5): Nice stay - Overall it was a good stay, spacious bedroom. James is a nice person and he maintains his place really well.
We got some complimentary welsh cakes and some milk on day 1, which was nice. One star less - as the kitchen and bathroom is opposite to the bedroom and where we had to walk thorugh an open corridor. (open to next door person, so need to be careful from bathroom or kitchen) Also parking inside the property was bit of a struggle, if any vehicles inside. Overall it was a good stay.
- Molly (8/5): - The property was lovely, the room was very clean and we had everything we needed
- craig (10/5): Will stay again - It was a lovely stay, just one night before a day at bike park wales.
I was told to leave the bike in the hall way and it was fine there.
Parking was tight with a bike rack on so i dropped it to get the car over as far as i could.
The room was beautifully decorated, bed comfy, shower amazing and the whole place was quiet.
- Mark (10/5): - We were here for a few days to explore this part of Wales. This house with self-catering rooms was ideal for our stay.
A short walk away is a wonderful cafe with fresh baked goods and a nice espresso.
The town centre is a short distance down the hill where there are a few pubs, shops and restaurants.
There are some great hiking opportunities nearby as well.
- Kentaro (10/5): - It is a very quiet place, and the staff is very kind and friendly.
- Richard (10/5): - Amazing
- Craig (10/5): - James was a great host and we felt at home from the moment we arrived, cant recommend this property enough.
- Ben (10/5): - Lovely stay as always. Clean, well finished rooms and a warm welcome
- Colin (10/5): - Lovely place, would definitely stay again, only other thing I would highlight is that there is no oven, the shower is tight and the sofa is not very comfortable, but that’s it!!
I will be staying again!!
- Graham (10/5): Merthyr or a-bust - Lovely studio 20 mins from where I was working. Clean tidy and comfortable.
- Michael (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Great place very clean and tidy with a great bed, and would stay again
- Michele (10/5): - James’ Place in the Rafters is as cosy and spacious in person as in the photos. The decorative touches and comfortable furnishings, bed included, make this studio a very unique and pleasant place to stay.
As stated in the listing- a car is a must and the room is not accessible for anyone with mobility issues (steep narrow stairs).
- Colin (6/5): - Comfortable bed, nice and clean throughout.
Good position
- Jacob (10/5): Beautiful Room with a Brilliant View - The room was absolutely beautiful and was very impressive coming into the building. The views were great and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a ladybird infestation which was a bit concerning but nonetheless, the room was brilliant and well worth the money.
- Danielle (10/5): - Beautiful house, I wish I could have stayed longer. Bed was very comfortable and the Mountain View was a great touch. Lives all of the cute decor. Will definitely be back. The Welsh cakes were tasty too.
- Lauren (10/5): - Fantastic property and excellent communication with the owners.
Stayed in the studio and the fact you have the whole of the 2nd floor to ourselves we didn’t mind so much that the kitchen and bathroom where a few steps across the hall.
Left us a little gift of Welsh cakes which was a lovely touch.
Had emails with recommendations on places to go, drink and eat which I think was a great touch.
Would stay at this property again and would also look in to the other properties they have.
- Gary (10/5): Would definitely recommend - Absolutely amazing place to stay

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hosts were lovely, room was clean. Bed was very uncomfortable. Shower was either scalding or freezing so could not use
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hosts were lovely people who provided lots of useful information about the surrounding area re restaurants, tourist attractions, walking trails etc. The room was excellent with a very comfortable bed, cooking facilities, plenty of room plus parking. The location was quiet and convenient with easy access to the town centre. Would highly recommend this property.
- Bandish (8/5): - I was not aware that this property is self catering. Yes bathroom did not have a window or extractor. Other than that all great.
- ian (10/5): Charming guest house. - Lovely guest house, tasteful decorated and great original features,,
really nice couple that run it.. spotlessly clean warm and cozy room
- Lorraine (8/5): Lovely homely room. Good location. - Lovely welcoming hotel. Very friendly owners. Room was small but comfortable. Would have been nice to have had a breakfast option.
