• Sightsee14719847094 (10/5): Great mom and pop stop on the fly - Arrived at motel and the sign said call this number and the owner arrived in 2 minutes to check in. Great option of cash and room was less vs credit card . Great mom and pop motel on the fly. King room with great AC. Bathroom has stand up shower not tub. She asked if there was anything else needed and made sure I looked in bathroom to see if anything was missing. She also said if it's after hrs she can totally accommodate anyone if a room is available. TV and wifi work Great. Give this little hole in the wall a chance!
• Pilot135p2 (2/5): One of the worst places ever. - This place is absolutely disgusting. The stench in the rooms is overpowering. The bathrooms are terrible. They won't take a reservation so if somebody walks in, they will give them the room and your out of luck. I'd sleep on a park bench before going back to this dump.
• JUDY (2/5): - Pullman has NO ties to Expedia and there for my reservation was not filled..When I called Pullman Hotel to get my key he said he is NOT with Expedia in any way so I could not get a room for there were no room available, had to go to another town to get a Hotel room...I am demanding a REFUND from you Expedia back to my credit card..$85.37

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Most of the units were individual units. Office and front step area could use some sprucing up. The beds were comfortable. There were no klenex available in the room nor cups with the coffee maker. For the times, the cost was just under $100.

• Donald (2/5): Could be nice if it had some TLC - I’m not a complainer but this place needs a lot of attention I understand it has been taken over by a fairly new management and he has his work cut out for him,the bed was so bad that I would have slept on the floor if it wasn’t so nasty and I’ve never had to wear my slippers in a room due to the fact that I was afraid of catching a fungus. If I were to rent a room to someone with a bed as nasty as the one I attempted to sleep on i would go to the goodwill and get any mattress they had to purchase, it would be better than the one there, and also purchase some new towels they were so nasty they had fesses on them and were so old. I went to the Walgreens and purchased some new towels and Lysol,the smell of the room was very musty, and I had to run the air conditioner twenty four seven;that didn’t work very well;;;if I would have rented the room with a cancellation policy I would have not had to stay,there I should have not been so dang cheap and spent more money on a nicer place,i hope the owner fixes up this place and invites me back to see how nice this place could be,,I hope he wins the lottery it’s going to take alot to spruce up this old place;;;;;;GOOD;;; LUCK;;;;
• Verified traveler (2/5): - What happened to the Pullman??? It used to be a nice little place. Now there’s mold growing in the bathroom. Musty smell in the towels and overall room. Ceiling tiles are starting to buckle at the edge of the room. Pillows are about 1 - 1 1/2 inches thick. Went to take a shower and no hot water. Called the front desk and no answer. Office opens few hours after check out. Key drop off in a mailbox.
• MSL9965 (6/5): Will try another place next time - We like to stay at Mom and Pop type places when we travel. We will choose another one next time when we're in this area. The check-in hours are kind of strange considering many Travelers go a long distance and drive past 9:30 in the evening. That makes this Motel very inconvenient. However, since we were aware of the hours, we were able to plan for it. Considering what we paid for the room we did expect to get a little bit more than what we got.
• Second1st (2/5): Lost reservation 2 years in a row - DO NOT RELY ON YOUR CONFIRMATION! Reservation were made. Got a written confirmation. Called to confirm our arrive. Was told he forgot to write it down and they were full. Last year at least they still had openings. This year no such luck. Never going back. Motel has been ok for a one night stay if you aren't expecting anything but the basics.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Only fair part was location to the local OHV trails. Limited to no knowledge of such by staff. Cost was relatively inexpenive versus other locations. For what appeared to be 1 person ran, wasn't terrible. Plenty of room for improvements
• Slingshotscott (2/5): Very Disappointed - Checkout closes at 9pm, which is pretty ridiculous for travelers. While this was stated in the fine print of their Expedia listing (where we booked) - we did not see it and have never experienced a hotel/motel that doesn’t keep a staff member on site at all times for guests. My husband was locked out when he arrived after a long night of driving, and had to find a new place to stay. When I expressed my disappointment, this was their response: "We close at 9 pm, which is why it states clearly that check-in is between 2:30 - 9 pm....so that our guests show up while we re open. Try going to the grocery store two and a half hours after they are closed; you will likely be "very disappointed" again."

• Eric (8/5): - Nice motel in a beautiful neighborhood. Everything was great about the room except for the shower. It seemed to be in poor condition and needs to be replaced.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay there. - Avoid this place like the plague. It has ridiculous check in hours, 230-900 pm. no after hours check in. No phone calls. Terrible customer service. Do not give them a credit card number if you are not there at their ridiculous check in times management will charge your card. I got charged for both nights of my reservation and didn't even get to stay there. Hotels.com should no longer list this hotel.
• Y3525SPronb (2/5): Dont go there. - They have ridiculous hours of check in, hidden in the fine print. I came there and they were closed. The parking lot was empty. No signs of even being open. I had to find other accommodations. I was charged on my discover card and the manager said too bad you booked it and we are charging you. I will be charging back the charges as no services were rendered. Stay away from this hotel....

• Minnie (8/5): - The room was very nice and our housekeeper did a nice job. The internet didn't work very well in our room and our check in clerk wasn't the most helpful but that was a smaller thing. all in all the stay was pleasant. Quiet part of town and a nice family restaurant near by.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - Did online reservation at 915pm. Got to hotel at 1010 pm office closes at 9pm. Called, got answering machine. Knocked. Very intoxicated proprietor answered. I said I made an online reservation. He said well we close at 9, you missed your check in, have to take it up with your bank. And closed the door. How can you take online reservations after your office is closed and still take the money.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - My room lacked basic cleanliness, lots of dust on the end tables, vacuumed poorly if at all. the shower had a used face cloth hanging over the shower bar. Internet did not work. Room smelled dirty and like cigarettes. The office is only open from 2:30pm till 9pm daily. No phone number given to call the office as there is no phone in the room.

• Worth (4/5): - I have stayed here several times in the past and have always been pleased. I believe it is now under new ownership. I feel like the property is no longer being maintained as in the past. I noted that everything requiring electricity was plugged into electrical cords. The light switch by the door turn on and off the TV and cable box and not the lights. One of the shower wall panels was pushed in allowing water to get into the wall and flow onto the bathroom floor. For $20 more I could have easily stayed at one of the big box chains beside the interstate and have breakfast included. This will probably be my last stay at what was once a wonderful mom and pop hotel
• utwila (6/5): We Didn't Stay, But... - We stopped to check it out looking for a motel. My husband and I probably would have stayed under other circumstances, but we had another in our party who was pickier. The manager was very friendly, nice guy, with a sweet well-behaved dog. Had a nice conversation with him. He happily showed us a room. Room was okay, had some remodeling done to it, but it did have a slight odor (maybe new carpet or paint?) The grounds were well-kept, it was on a quiet street. I noticed crocheted afghans in the lobby and books that could be borrowed, as there were Adriondack chairs on the property to sit and read under shade trees. I think I could have been happy there. Didn't appear to be breakfast, but I think I saw coffee.
• Kimberly (6/5): Outdated and in need of updates - I was not expecting anything spectacular, but I will admit I was a little disappointed. We had 3 adults staying in the room. We had 2 double beds, so needless to say it was a bit "cozy". That part wasn't great, but we knew that going in. What was most disappointing was that there was barely enough room in the bathroom to use it. The shower was SMALL! Some of the outlets didn't work and there was a definite musty smell. The man at the front counter was very friendly and courteous however.
• Gregory (10/5): A week in Rice Lake, WI - Check in was efficient and friendly. The manager, John, up-graded me to a 1 bdm cottage from just a hotel room. This was great cuz the cottage had a large fridge to keep my beer cold.On the evening before my departure John invited me for superb cook-out. It was a very enjoyable evening.

• Persew (2/5): DO NOT GO HERE GO ANYWHERE BUT THERE - They are horrible people the managers Shawn seems a little slow no matter how much money we have him he still kicked us out cuz his dumbness overbooked it (will be following up on that) bathroom is worse than jail cell IM NOT JOKING it’s horrible and btw u have to do ur own house keeping yeah!!
• Leeann (10/5): Pullman Hotel - We always stay at the Pullman Hotel because the owners are very nice and helpful. They let us check in 90 minutes early, as we arrived from out of state, and a snow storm was coming. They gave us a newly renovated room. The heat was already on. It was a very nice room. We love staying there!

• Dan (4/5): 3 strikes - Tiny bathroom, Tiny shower, small room, older but cleanish. Room wasn't clean when we arrived (no big deal). No toilet paper once we did check in (no big deal). Time to go to bed... No sheets on bed! Not happy.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Cramped - very small room; hard to move around; no where to sit except for the bed. One high stool there, but it was broken. Bathroom poorly lit, dim. Lots of dead bugs in the light fixture. Attractive outdoor siting area, but it was muddy underfoot, so could't use it.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great Room, Great Price - No deadbolt or chain - I was pleasantly surprised with the room. The pictures don't do this place justice! The room was up to Date and was much better than I thought I was going to get for the price. My only complaint was there was no deadbolt or chain on the door. I did end up putting a chair against to the door just to give myself piece of mind.

• 558margaretd (2/5): What a difference new management makes. - Two years ago I wrote a review for this motel, but I need to update it. We were up in June for a relatives funeral. We reserved a room ahead of time, and when we checked in the manager said she had up graded us to a "suite". Well, it was far from that. It was a room that had a small refrigerator and a microwave in one room, and a futon, the other room had a queen sized bed. Well, the room was dirty, the phone didn't work, the toilet ran all night, and the door did not lock. We called the office, but got a recording. We had to leave early in the morning, so the office was not open. I once again called the number, and no one answered. We decided we could not stay another night with all the problems. I left another message and asked the manager to call me. She never did. When we were charged for 2 nights. I called again, and she informed me that she had gotten numerous calls during the night because of all the noise we made. We had driven 6 hers, attended a wake and went to bed. I am almost 70 and my daughter is in her 40's. No noise in our room. When I tried to talk to her, she hung up on me. When I called back, she did not answer the phone, and it went to voicemail. The bottom line, I will never stay there again. Management can make a big difference, so this is to tell you to be aware. This motel is not what it used to be.

• OREAZ (6/5): You Get What You Pay For - Booked the Pullman for a one week stay in Rice Lake. Who the devil goes to Rice Lake in winter??? We try to stay in small mom and pops when traveling in order to keep money local vs going to a Corporate office in Delaware or where ever. The Pullman offered a weekly rate nearly $175 less than the Breakfast included chains. That's about $25 less per night and no breakfast buffet at a Microtel type place is worth $25 per day per person, dbl occupancy. Right across the street from the Pullman is Nancys Northside Cafe...open early..they keep your coffee cup full and two can easily have a cooked to order breakfast served on real plates for $10 or $12 The Pullman rooms are small. The showers are really tiny. Beware big guys! In a double double you'll find just over a foot between the beds. And if your room has a recliner your feet will nearly touch the refrigerator that nearly prevents the door from opening. But, rooms are clean and if you ask for towels or coffee they are cheerfully given. Office is open only from 2 until 9 pm. Weekly rates do not include daily room service On the bright side...great cable tv with 32" flat screen tv, fast wifi ( some blips with connectivity ) mini fridge and microwave. So, we got what we paid for..clean room with tv and wifi. And unlike the Breakfast Buffet places I didn't have to deal with unruly kids or seeing folks coming down in their flannel jammy bottoms and T shirts or sweatshirts. No one should be subjected to seeing folks in public dining areas dressed like that

• Tim (8/5): Hospitality Without High Price - The Pullman is going through some updating and remodeling. It's locally owned and work is being completed by local residents. It's a basic, "old style" motel. It's not fancy nor high tech, but the staff was very accommodating, helpful, and pleasant. If you want a sense of Rice Lake hospitality and want to corporate cookie cutter rooms, this is your place to stay.
• worth-voyageur (6/5): A little surprised - I have stayed here numerous times and was surprised to find the room not quite as nice as in the past. Yes, it is clean but I forgot how teeny, tiny the shower is. It is impossible to dry off inside or bend over and pick up the soap! What caught my attention was the scuffed up walls and cracked lampshades. Nothing major was wrong and I will continue to stay when I pass through in my travels. I was told that not all rooms are posted on Expedia, etc. and you might want to call instead. I have stayed in a room with one bed and suspect that are nicer than the rooms with doubles. Next time I most likely will request the room with the kitchen as it is very nice and roomy.
• Hungryhoosier (6/5): Sliding Downhill - I visited this motel 3 years ago and described it as a quaint mom and pop place that was clean and easy on the pocketbook for a nights stay. Unfortunately ii needs some sprucing up. Still pretty cheap for a night's lodging but carpeting and bedspreads need replaced.
• sandy (10/5): Nice, reasonably priced motel - Very pleasant stay. I was surprised to get a call at 8:15 saying that the registration desk closed at 9:00. I knew that there was no way we could make it by then. She offered to put the bill on the Visa that I had used to reserve the room. She then told me what room we would get, and left the lights on in the room along with the key. I thought was very kind of her to call and then accommodate us. Clean room and nice flowers all along the buildings was a nice touch.
• Judy (2/5): bring a dropcloth - so pretty on the outside but once you walk in you realize that effort should have been put doing some scrubbing on the inside. DIRTY. DUSTY. OLD. Exposed bottom mattress, ancient bedspreads, mold in bathrooms. the place should be gutted.
• jillmeitzner2011 (4/5): Unfriendly - Owner rude. She charges extra for each person. Ended up being $327 for 3 nights with 4 people when advertised at 80 per night. $50 charge if any dish left in sink so cupboard was full of dirty dishes.
• jeffreybR1810YC (8/5): Nice place - We stayed at the Pullman 3 times a few years ago. Very nice little hotel but the bathrooms are very very small but everything was very clean. Since then it has changed owners so not sure how it is now.
• David (4/5): tiny room - The Pullman rooms are very small and the bathrooms are worse. When you come in you can't open the door all the way because it hits the bed. They have the round mini toilets and very small and hard to use showers. No counter space for your things. Overpriced for what you get. On the positive side, the room is very clean and the management is cordial and helpful.
• Second1st (6/5): Basic accommodation, great parking when towing a boat - Our one night stay was comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced. Room 16 has it's door facing the back parking lot. Back parking lot spaces are deep enough to back into and leave the boat attached. There was a microwave, small refrigerator, air conditioning, coffee maker, cable TV, and WiFi.
• 476wesb (10/5): Awesome! - Very nice people, great location and layout...super clean and has a very Scandinavian feel. Rooms are just right for the price, showers are a bit small but common for this era of Motel....highly recommended.
• scooterdork (4/5): Amazing what happens with new owners/attitude - This used to be one of my all-time favorites. Kind and welcoming owner, pet friendly, and exactly the half way point in a drive I take twice annually. I stopped a week or so ago, with my corgi as always and was not recognized by the new clerk. "There are new owners, new policies, and new prices." So, no pets, and nearly double the rates formerly charged. Hope they take reviews seriously, most these days do! Major disappointment. Hope they make some adjustments, starting with the attitude!
• Badger2013_13 (4/5): New owners - New owners as of Aug 1st. New owners, higher rates, almost double what I use to pay before. A few cosmetic upgrades, but nothing major. Unable to get a late checkout (12:30pm) as I was with the previous owners.
• AnnD4 (8/5): Best "Mom & Pop" we've been to this year! - Stayed in room #13, few doors from the street. Have seen/heard complaints of some showers being very small, but ours was not. Working on road in front & did hear truck noise in afternoon that didn't bother us. Very nice tree courtyard surrounded by rooms. Has been re-done, and is very nice for the price. If you want a clean, comfortable place to lay your head check this out! No frills, but you don't pay for any either! Check in/out very quick, friendly staff. Loved the small fridge & micro wave - very handy! Will stay again next year, close to fairgrounds where we race horses.
• surecatch (8/5): Nice place to stay - Friendly staff. Quick check in. Room was clean and bed very comfortable. Liked that there was a small refrigerator and microwave. Great location for our destination to Haugen for WBA finals. Stayed only one night but would have stayed all weekend if our team would have kept winning! Would stay there again if visiting the area. I asked the owner if our friends could park their car in the lot as we car pooled to the game. He thanked me for asking as they wanted all their guest to be secure and asked for the make of car. I was impressed he stated that and let them park in the lot rather than the street. We were also given the Wi-Fi password at check in - efficient! Was a very hot day and the room was comfortably cooled by A/C.
