Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): We were so pleased with finding by this property that we extended our stay for a second night. - The authenticity of the building brings the Wild West experience to life! (with our appreciation for the modern conveniences). It’s the perfect location for walking this historical town and enjoying other businesses. Plenty of room (and beds) for a family to stay comfortably. There are no negative comments to be made!
- Wendy (9/5): -
- Brian (9/5): Enjoyed a quiet, relaxing evening and night in an historic building. - Instructions were precise and clear and codes work very well. Nothing.
- Bryan (10/5): - As others have noted, this "hotel" is perfect for those looking for a place with character and a space to relax (not just a bed). When vacationing, we tend to eat out during the day, but prefer to eat a light meal at night. The full kitchen had everything we needed (including an electric kettle to easily make tea). We were also able to do a load of laundry. Way better than staying at those chain hotels. All communication is done remotely, which was easy to follow. The owner even provided abundant information for Buffalo.
- Katherine (10/5): -
- Cindy (8/5): - Tolle Lage
- James (10/5): Great! - The look.
The amenities.
The owner.
- Hideyuki (5/5): -
- Jen (10/5): A beautifully quaint property with everything you need. - A beautifully quaint property with so much space. Very thankful for the washer and dryer after two weeks on the road. Nothing
- COSETTA (9/5): -
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neville (9/5): Superb - Very spacious and quirky
- Paige (10/5): We loved the capitol suites! We will definitely stay again. - We loved the historic building and the space within the suite!
- Christy (6/5): - It was nothing to write home about - close to everything but no character and we thought the rooms would be bigger from the description.
- Barbara (8/5): Very well done and comfortable in the heart of downtown - It was clean and very homey. I wish we could have stayed longer the location was perfect Cynthia was so helpful and available. If you text her she will help take your bags up the stairs this property is 100 years old. The stairs were hard although Cynthia was so helpful in helping us with our bags. We are in our 70’s and 80’s which made it a little more difficult
- Tamara (10/5): - Great, historic location. Very smooth check-in process! Incredibly spacious rooms!
- Cody (10/5): - Place was clean and very unique with it's historical relevance. I really enjoyed our stay!
- Matthew (10/5): - Cute. Comfortable. Loved the feel of the place. Squeeky floors and all. Family all slept well after a long day of travel. Pillows were comfortable. Washer and dryer were nice perk. Large. No complaints.
- Nancy (10/5): - Absolutely lovely place. It is a walk-up, as clearly mentioned in the description. Everything was exactly as advertised. Very clean and spacious. Host was wonderful. I would highly recommend this place.
- Lynn (10/5): - Never saw the owners but didn’t need to. I was paid in advance, was sent instructions then, was texted info about how to get in, and upon arrival went right to the room. I received a call asking if I needed bag assistance, which I didn’t need help. This place is great. If you are looking for something unique, spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet, don’t pass it up!
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pat (9/5): Superb - N/A
- Mark (10/5): - Great place and the property owner checked in on us to be sure we had everything we wanted. Old style comfortable furniture, with charm and comfort. Great location and price. We would stay again if in the area.
- Colin (10/5): - This is a lovely historic building with a great ambience. We loved our stay here. If we had to be nit-picky, the only thing we didn't like was the rather creaky floorboards - but that's only to be expected in a place with a history like this has! :) Cynthia was a proactive and prompt hostess in her communications with us.
- Zullis (8/5): Very good - The kitchen has most of the basic utensils we needed, the bathroom is in good conditions as well, it has TVs in the main room and the living room, host prepared cookies and banana bread for us, AC was comfortable, the is a laundry room and clothes iron if you need it. The price is too high, we didn't have towels change during a week, this location doesn't work for people with special (physical) conditions because to get access to the bedrooms you have to use pretty incline stairs, the smaller room is pretty small, you don't have much space to walk around the bed and it doesn't have anything to hang cloth up.
- Dalene (10/5): Cynthia and Dave were amazing. Communication was prompt. We started communicating almost 8mths before our stay. The apar - It was well positioned. Well kept. The facilities were very clean. (I’m fussy and didn’t need to clean the bathroom before I took a shower) N/A
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional - An amazing and unique property, very historical and charming, yet very comfortable and clean. Unlike any other mainstream hotel stay. We and the kids were enchanted.
- Cara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diegushka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Viktor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Loved the ambiance. -
- Carl (10/5): - Fantastic place. Just perfect.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): - The host was great and thr furniture and art was cool, very appropriate.
- Powei (8/5): - Overall is pretty good, but WiFi connection is poor😅
- Misti (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cad (8/5): Great, would choose this hotel again. -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Location is ideal good large rooms
- Ty (10/5): - Very accommodating and great customer service.
- michael (10/5): - Wonderful . Spacious and clean. All the amenities. More a suite than a hotel room. Right on main street so you can walk anywhere in town. The owners were terrific. I would like to give them kudos by name but I have forgotten. I give them 5 stars all the way. Unfortunately with all the great reviews they will be getting we will be lucky to get a room there next time. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks.
- Roberta (10/5): - Historic
- Martyn (10/5): It was a charming place to stay in the middle of a quaint town. - charming and large. well equipped. steepish staircase
- Kate (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (10/5): Nice Place - This was a nice cabin right downtown. Very spacious with nice bath and kitchen. The owners were wonderful when we discovered the address we had was incorrect. Would stay again if we come through town.
- Theodore (10/5): - Historical, but comfortable. Great value.
- Ronald (8/5): Very good -
- Nancy (10/5): - You are right downtown and within walking distance of the restaurants.
- Christina (10/5): - What an excellent historic property...
my boys enjoyed the history!
- D.Benjamin (8/5): - The owners are lovely and helpful. The historical sense is real. Just a fun, historical place to stay.
- Randi (10/5): - We had so much space, it was a nice change from a hotel
- Michele (8/5): - The capitol was a nice break from the traditional hotel for our long road trip. It was nice to have a full size fridge & freezer as well as a washer/dryer on site. Owner was quick to answer questions & self-check in was easy. The suite was clean & comfortable
- Colin (10/5): Great stay in Buffalo! - Beautiful place for sure! lots of room and very clean! Loved it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Authentic old west
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very Nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Historic building and room was setup like an apartment rather than a plain hotel
- sara (10/5): Fun adventure - Nice place. It was a lot of fun to stay in the old time room. We could walk to most things in Buffalo. You can hear people in the hallway. Maybe a fan in the bedroom for noise canceling
- Sherri (10/5): Thumbs up - Very nice place to stay. A little confusing to find as picture doesn’t look like actual accommodations. It was very clean. We were concerned about possible traffic noise but it was quiet. Location was great just one block off the Main Street in town. Will definitely stay again!
- William (10/5): Old West - Really cool place! The kind of place I pictured staying when planning a trip out west
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a quaint property with history and location. It is a combination of 4 previous hotel rooms remodeled into an apt. The 1st part bedroom; the bed was plenty comfortable, the closet space is shared with storage items. And due to an old duct work space in the wall, you could hear the television in the place next door. I cough a lot with allergies, so was concerned that I was disturbing the sleep of those next door. The 2nd part was a comfortable living room. We tried to enjoy the electric fire place, but neither the flame nor the heat worked. The 3rd part is the kitchen; a full size stove and refrigerator are provided. However on a note inside the room it states you may not fry any foods, would be nice to have this info in the rental details. There is a little cupboard and counter space. Several small kitchen appliances are available. They have turned a space in the wall between the living and dining area into a "bar"/table and have 4 taller chairs for you to sit/eat at. The 4th part is the laundry and bathroom area, the old "potty chair" decoration was cute. Due to the "old" building we had issues with a breaker and did not have electricity in the bathroom or part of the kitchen for a time, we had texted the owner, after we left she realized we had texted, and wished we would would have called. I was afraid to wake her so I had texted. There are lots of stairs to climb! :) I LOVED THE NO PET NO SMOKING SAFE ENVIRONMENT!!!
- Mike (10/5): Buffalo! - What a fun and unique place. Easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. Buffalo is a very friendly place and the views are incredible. Parked on the street right outside the hotel door, it was easy and convenient. I suspect parking might be a little more difficult during the summer, but still wouldn't be bad.
- Steven (10/5): Great family place to stay in Buffalo - This Hotel has a lot of charm. It is an old building, and so the fineness that goes with newness is lacking, but the room was very comfortable. There was ample room for the 4 of us, and the living area was pleasant, which was a good thing, as the temperature was pushing 100, and so we were in it more than we were expecting:)
Cynthia was very hospitable. There were homemade sweet cakes waiting for us in the refrigerator, and when we bumped into her, she was very pleasant and friendly.
The hotel was a little hard to find--we had been out of cell service and so didn't see the directions we were emailed, but a quick call got us a text and we were in. One thing that we found especially convenient was that the doors were unlocked by a code that was tied to our phone number. No keys or cards to lose, and the code was easy to remember.
We would definitely stay here again, if we find ourselves in Buffalo again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Self check in was easy and there was homemade rhubarb crumble waiting for us.
- MARY S. (10/5): Close to restaurants and shops - Centrally located, quiet and clean. Was perfect for our needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Capital suites Buffalo WY - Very nice overnight stay in a suite full of character. Well setup welcoming and nicely renovated
- Tony (10/5): - Unusual and Quaint. Loved it. Will stay there again.
- Rebecca (10/5): Awesome customer service - Owner stopped us on the street to ensure our stay was going well. Awesome customer service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Parking was terrible in an alley behind the hotel. Rooms weren't what im used to. Glad i had febreeze, rooms were clean but had an odor when we arrived. Beds were great tho. I guess im just not into antiques, others would probably appreciate the rooms. But at least they were very clean. & very disappointed with the 10:00am check out. Im camping out all week & thought i could sleep in since we arrived very late & traveled 500+ miles today.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed the historic hotel suite and the simplicity of check in/check out, etc. it was great to be so close to restaurants and the downtown area.
- Christopher (8/5): Fantastic place - We loved this character hotel. Our suite was spacious and spotlessly clean. We will definitely stay again if we are fortunate enough to visit the area.
- V (10/5): - Absolutely a wonderful surprise! Historic and cozy and roomy and just such a treat! Will definitely stay again and longer next time!!!
- David (10/5): Comfortable Cottage! - We stayed in the cottage also owned by the owners of the Historic Capitol Hotel. The cottage, just down the road from the Hotel, was very comfortable. Plenty of room, nicely decorated, homemade cookies waiting for us when we arrived! Highly recommended.
- Suzanne (10/5): Buffalo gem - Great place to stay. Lots of room, right in the middle of town. Easy check in. If and when we're back in Buffalo, will love to stay again.
- Sean (8/5): - This was not actually a hotel but rather an Air B&B-like accommodation. The private residence outfitted for overnight guests and vacationers was very clean and comfortable. The owners contacted us by text prior to arrival and left the door open so that we could "self-check in" late the night we arrived. It was much nicer than a standard hotel; not at all what we expected. I only wish there had been a little more information provided at the time of booking to let me know what I was signing up for.
- GinnyOedekoven (10/5): - This 1800 hotel has been refurbished to excellent modern standards but keeping the historic charm. We were amazed when we walked in our suite. It was HUGE! Photos do not do this place justice.
Added treat! Baklava in the refrigerator! How cool was that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved our stay here and would definitely return! A unique opportunity to stay where you can appreciate the historic charm of the property, yet have a spacious suite with all of the amenities. The proprietor made us feel immediately welcome and was responsive to questions. The location is also walking distance to attractions and restaurants. So glad we chose this place over a chain hotel!
- Christopher (10/5): - Very charming suite in a historic building, a step back into the west with modern amenities, Proprietor was great, room was amazing, loved it.
- Barry (8/5): Great location and facilities - Large rooms, all facilities including washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove and microwave, tv's are in all rooms, bunk beds and pull out sofa in living room, separate bedroom with Queen (which had mattress that had a valley in the middle and needs replacing), free wifi and good security.
- Eric (10/5): Unique accommodations - Perfect location near all the action. Comfortable historic building that was a good value with many extras. The owner was extremely nice and went out of her way to make our stay very enjoyable.
- David (10/5): Nice - Very roomy after staying in cramped hotel rooms this is a nice break large enough to be home.
- Holly (10/5): Quiet nostalgia - This is such a cute little place, nice and quiet. It was a great night stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Capitol hotel - Great lovcatiin - it’s a hotel in progress- but the manager is great - rooms comfortable- let cater in downtown historic buffalo - easy access to shops - restaurants and saloons
But no elevator and steep stairs - so handicap patrons may have issues
- Penney (8/5): Capital - This was a great old hotel room. The size was amazing! It was perfect for our family traveling together and not being in seperate rooms. Having some extra blankets for the sofa bed would be wonderful. Communication and keyless check in was awesome. I would have loved more information about the historic building.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Get in your room and feel at home quick - It's a 120 year old building...it has some squeaks in the floor, but again.... it's old. It's kept in great condition and the Coyote Suite was spacious and met all our needs and then some. It's a No fuss system.... you get a key code to get in building and your room. It's simple. I placed a quick call to the host and she was super friendly and accommodating to my questions. Id stay here again and hopefully for a longer stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Location, location, location - It was where we needed to stop, great little quiet town, nice suite, good price. Check in was very convenient... no hassle.
- john (10/5): recommend - cindy [the owner was as accomidating as ever. she went out of her way to see that all my needs were taken care of. even gave a ride when my vehicle wasn't working. would recommend them. the only thing was the stairs that were to many for me. but everything else made up for that.
- Peggy (10/5): very nice restoration of an old building. - Very clean and comfortable HUGE suite. Fully equipped apartment with a full size washer and dryer was a real treat. The owner, Cindy, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Very pleasant experience and would recommend to anyone traveling through Buffalo.
