Guest Reviews
- Richard (8/5): - The grounds were beautiful. The breakfast offerings were awful. The narrow staircase to the bedroom had no safe railing or lighting.
- John (6/5): Pretty property - Pretty property. Our unit had steep steps to the bedroom area with a lower level bathroom. Friendly hotel staff at checkin.
- Barbara (10/5): Quiet Stay in Historic French Chateau - Beautiful and picturesque are first impressions of this classic French chateau and expansive gardens. Very quiet and easy uphill walk to the Rue Claude Monet and the town of Giverny
- david (8/5): Lovely hotel, but hard to find - This place really needs to put up a sign that arriving guests can see. We had trouble finding the place even though our GPS had told us we had arrived. During the one day that we were there, two other couples approached us, asking us where the hotel was. One of them was driving up and down the street and the other actually knock on the door of our cottage, not realizing that they were actually already at the hotel. It turns out that there is actually a small sign on the side of the building, but it is partially obscured by vegetation. The cottage we were staying in was spacious and lovely, as were the grounds around the hotel. The room was rather hot and the small, portable air conditioner had trouble cooling it down. To find the hotel, I would suggest driving halfway up the road from the main street and look for two black doors on your right. One of the doors is large like a barn door while the other is small. There is a small parking area across the street. You enter the Hôtel courtyard through the small black door.
- Jackson (10/5): - This is a wonderful location for visiting Monet’s Garden. It is a 15 or less minute easy walk to the garden, so an early morning or late afternoon garden visits, avoiding the crowds, are easily accomplished without driving.
The facility itself is charming and the owners very supportive during our 3 day stay. It was e actually what we needed/wanted for our visit to Giverny.
- Jessica (10/5): - Delicious breakfast delivered to our door every morning. Easy to walk everywhere from the cottage. Quiet, beautiful location.
- Sara (10/5): - Aside from perfect accommodation comfort, our host and hostess were delightfully warm.
- Mary J (10/5): - Private, beautiful, walking distance to Monets garden.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thumbs up - Very nice place with excellent service and breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is on a converted farm. The barn, now used for receptions, dates to the 13th century. Very unique. Very friendly proprietor. Note limited check in times.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - La Dime is absolutely gorgeous and the staff are so lovely and helpful.
- Howard (10/5): - Fantastic. Low key Mellow. Serene
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous hotel and super quiet. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! I hope to go back someday.
- Jess (2/5): - Because they have a 7 PM check in time and do not answer their phone if you want to let them know you are going to be late you cannot risk booking this hotel. I pointed out that they did not answer their phone on the night of my reservation and therefore should not charge me yet they charged the full amount. Do not book this hotel. Expedia should de-list this venue as they treat their customers very badly. I had to book another hotel for the night because I could not risk driving to Giverny and then not being able to check in. At least they should answer their phone so customers can let them know they will be late. Do not book this place unless you know you will be able to check in between 5-7 pm. And even then, how will you know they will be there since they don't answer their phone?
- Jennifer (10/5): - We had such a wonderful experience here! We loved being able to walk everywhere! I don't know when but I will be staying here again!!
- BillyRR (8/5): - Pretty casual check in after we contacted them about a late arrival. Spent 30 minutes finding someone who could get us into our room
Facility was as advertised but they need to decide whether they are in the hotel business or the customer service business because they think they are in the unique facility business. Over priced for value received, but I don’t think they care!
- ERIC (10/5): Charming and cosy - Lovely property with lots of charm- close to Monet's home and gardens.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great place to stay on trip to Money’s gardens. - We stayed in the house on the property. It was perfect for the 5 of us. The place was beautiful. Just like in the picture. A short walk to Monet’s gardens. The house had a kitchen too.
- DiAnna (10/5): Beautiful, spacious room - A little trouble finding the place, as our GPS was poor with directions and it was a little bit difficult to find. But it was beautiful when we arrived.
- Patricia (8/5): Beautiful area - This is an extremely old chateau. You can hear noise from the other room and the staircase. The room we had was very minimalist. There is a private bathroom, but only a tub. No shower. The check in from 5p-7p is literal. There was no one to be found any earlier. We sat on the lawn furniture on the beautiful grounds while we waited. Short walking distance up the hill to all the local attractions and village.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel with interesting restoration. Very friendly owners and nice breakfast ( extra cost).
Our room would have been better if the WC was not downstairs from the loft bedroom. Glad we stayed in Giverny with time to see Impressionist Museum as well as Monet house and garden.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All we had hoped for. Beautiful rooms, buildings and grounds.
- Patrice (2/5): - Room was OK, but this is a VERY simple place ... not luxurious as portrayed on the website. It is just a hard-to-find house in a residential area ... a B&B not a hotel. BIG problem was that both the sink and the shower did not drain at all, so we were unable to use them. We told the owner and gave her only half of the rate for our overnight stay. She was nice about it at first but then followed us to our car and told us we did not know how to “manage” the bathroom and it was our fault. Then she threatened us on Expedia and said she would report us as “no shows” to collect another €150. It was one of the worst experiences I have had in a lifetime of world travel!!! These people are just ripping off people because it is Giverny ...
- Anil (10/5): Great location and garden. - The host accommodated our request for an early checkout and provided us with a breakfast tray. Much appreciated!
- Marie (10/5): Lovely B&B down the lane from Monet's Garden - La Dime is a lovely B&B within a 5 minute walk to Monet's Garden. The owner explained that the B&B is in what was once where monks lived and the communal area is what was once a tithe barn. It's a lovely space and the rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was served in the former barn and included croissants, baguettes, fruit, coffee, tea, yogurt, etc. It was very peaceful and pleasant and a pleasant spot from with to visit Monet's garden and the Impressionism Museum.
- Terry (10/5): - Wonderful people and great service
Location is perfect and the facility beautifully basic
Highly recommend
- Jan (10/5): Quiet and comfortable - Hotel situated a short distance from museum and garden was comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and were happy for me to leave my suitcase at the hotel while I visited Monet's Garden.
- Eric (10/5): Charming Hotel -
Great stay in Giverny. La Dime de Giverny is charming and very quiet. Parking I front of the hotel. Easy walking distance to the village. The breakfast served was delicious. We highly recommend La Dime de Giverny.
- David (10/5): Great overnight in Giverny, best way to Monet - Owner gave us great tips on when and how to visit Monet's Garden, so very helpful. Breakfast was fabulous and bountiful. This is part medieval, part 17th century farm house and barn conversion. Very atmospheric and rustic as opposed to cookie-cutter chain. Loved the vibe. Room was fine, plenty of space, and open timber decor. Easy walk to Monet's Garden. Large property to relax in their backyard. Lots of parking. Town is very small, but the few choices of lunch and dinner restaurants were fine. This is a relaxing scene, especially after the Paris tour buses depart in late afternoon. Hiking nearby.
- Benedicte A (4/5): Not so close to Monet; Uncaring Host - Giverny is a temple to the genius of Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. His gardens are world-famous so there are a LOT of visitors. We sought a local B&B to avoid long lines & distant parking lots BUT found this place was half a mile from the gardens site (we were told 300 meters but that omitted the hill and it's further!). The public parking lot was MUCH closer!! It was a HOT day and as our room (average comfort; nice bath) was directly on the small street, so we couldn't leave the window open, we requested a fan. The owner-proprietor promised us one at 8 PM and then we waited until 11 PM and he never delivered it - apparently he went out drinking instead. So we went to bed. Apparently he put it outside our door after 11 PM - that is unacceptable. We had a bad night and his wife apologized the next day but that didn't change things for us. We will not stay there again if we ever return to Giverny.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming facility and great location. We enjoyed our stay and would use again.
- Duncan (10/5): - Lovely property, excellent breakfast. Perfect for a visit to Giverny
- nick (10/5): Beautiful hotel in perfect location - Perfect start to a European road trip, lovely’s poeple who are friendly and helpful.
Wonderful place highly recommended
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful! - Fabulous stay! Absolutely perfect. My daughter and I loved it. Highly recommend. Comfortable, quiet, clean, spacious and a wonderful breakfast.
- Gerri (8/5): 13th Century B&B - Enjoyed our stay in this historic building with giant exposed beams in the ceiling and an interior courtyard.
- Steven (10/5): Quiet & attentive owner. - Charming home, wonderful breakfast included, close to Monet's house & gardens, a little bit difficult to identify home, updated bathrooms, beautiful grounds.
- Verified traveler (4/5): La Dime - Not ideal for those with mobility problems as bedroom is above bathroom and stairs are steep, narrow and potentially dangerous. Details on Expedia are incorrect - there is no cafe on site. Not good value for the money.
- Mary (10/5): Beautiful Modern Design in a Farmhouse setting! - What a beautiful setting and gorgeous design + attention to detail! We arrived just before sunset and immediately went to the garden for a glass of wine. The setting is completely secluded and serene - just steps away from Jardins de Monet. The town is so quaint and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Wonderful breakfast with croissants, baguette, fromage, hard boiled eggs, etc.. The renovated home is just beautiful with its modern/ rustic decor. Perfect romantic setting!!
Notes (not necessarily cons): No TV in our room (but you won't need one with such a gorgeous surrounding - just something to know if you're staying a while), shower water pressure wasn't great, no AC (but expected in France).
- Renee (4/5): - Room was actually quite dangerous to sleep in...A large step up to get to bathroom and no light to use during the night to see the step. Had to carry bags up steep flight of stairs to room with no help from hotel. No staff just a husband and wife who were caring for the children more than us. Exterior of place is charming, interior isn't. We were happy to leave after one night.
- Gregory F (10/5): Quiet. - It was what we were expecting.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location wonderful - Always wanted to see Monet’s home. Spending the night there made it possible to see the home and gardens first thing in the morning before all the crowds came. Wonderful experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): La Dime of Giverny was great! - I had a wonderful loft type suite with a separate entrance and right next to the garden. I loved it! The bed was in a loft with steep stairs so would be important to ask for a different room if that wouldn’t work. The shower was a little difficult to get right temp wise. Nice kitchenette.
- Carl (10/5): Astounding - Sometimes you only need one word to convey your experience, this is it:
Astounding
- Leslie (10/5): Old charmer - This was our second stay at La Dime. It is so charming and well tended, we probably will return...again.
There are only twelve rooms in this converted stone grain storage barn, each individually furnished with comfy shabby/chic decor. It was the place where the monks kept the wheat collected as tax for the Church which was a tithe, or a tenth of the family income. The couple who own and operate it have lovingly restored some of its old feeling, and it totally works!

- Max (10/5): Unique - Magical Property - This is a beautiful 12th century farm property near Monet's Giverny Garden. The owners have done a beautiful job of instilling a clean, modern sensibility while at the same time, maintaining the charm and history of the place. We loved our stay and will return any time there's a chance.
- Jim (10/5): - After a brief taxi ride from the Vernon train station ($14E) we arrived at the walled hotel. Great location within 10 minutes walk to the church, Baudy hotel/restaurant (excellent food) and then onto the Monet home/gardens and museum! Very friendly staff. Peaceful 1st day of our 10day Normandy stay.
- Steven (10/5): - Great location
- Randy (10/5): Giverny Jewel - Fabulous medieval tithe farm an easy walk from Monet's house and gardens. Worth staying for the architecture alone, but there's much more. Good continental breakfast with fresh-squeezed OJ, cheeses, croissants and more. Sparsely furnished but rooms good-sized, bright and airy. Ours had a clawfoot tub. I prefer a shower, but no big deal. No TV in rooms, again no biggie. We didn't come to Giverny to watch soaps! Main street is lovely, especially early and late before the buses. Monet's house is fabulous, as close as possible to the way he had it. Gardens are spectacular even in September. An easy drive to Rouen and the cathedral he painted so many times. A car also makes it easy to access restaurants in nearby Vernon.
- David (10/5): A breath of fresh air - Our two day and night stay was terrific. A true bed and breakfast, only five available rooms. Fantastic spacious surroundings, rustic setting with charm. Breakfast was farm fresh, squeezed OJ, baked bread, home made jams, daily ranch eggs and in season fruit. A real treat. A short 10 minute walk to the Monet Garden and Musium. An hour drive to Normandy and the Obama Memorial. Giverny is short way from the hustle and bustle of Paris without traffic and a lot of tourism.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel, perfectly located for visiting the Monet's garden.
Perfect breakfast
- angela (8/5): Lovely location not far from Monet's Garden - We were able to walk to Monet's Garden which was great - the owner was very friendly and helpful- the property is surrounded by a pleasant garden
