- Stella (9/5): Magnifique avec un gout d’inachevé - Le cadre est exceptionnel. La chambre était immense avec une vue magnifique sur Little Adam’s peak. Pour ce qui est du confort de la literie, on avait l’impression de dormir sur un nuage. Le ménage est également fait tous les jours pendant que vous prenez votre petit-déjeuner. Le petit-déjeuner était succulent et vous pouvez choisir plusieurs plats à la carte. Par contre, le buffet est limité mais ce n’est pas grave car la carte compense largement. Par ailleurs, les conducteurs des buggy sont d’une extrême gentillesse. Le personnel, notamment à la réception, manque cruellement de vivacité. Pour un établissement d’un tel standing, le service n’y est pas encore à la hauteur. Par exemple, nous avions pris une grosse pluie et arrivés à l’hôtel, aucune initiative de nous donner un parapluie pour nous couvrir. Aussi, la réceptionniste a complètement oublié de nous prévenir que notre chambre était prête. Il a fallu que je contacte l’hôtel pour obtenir les informations. Ceci étant dit, le manager s’est excusé et nous a offert une bouteille de vin et des fruits. De plus, le tarif pour un pickup depuis la gare (10min en voiture) est de 6000 LKR. Alors que le prix ne devrait pas dépasser les 1500 LKR. Pour un hôtel d’un prestige pareil, le service devrait être offert. Il ne faut pas toujours amalgamer luxe avec classe. La piscine est quant à elle assez petite, contrairement aux photos.

Beds were comfortable, housekeeping in room was good There were many staff members in the dining room but despite that the service was inefficient. The food for breakfast was very average in quality and variety and dinner items all seemed to taste similar. Having been to other high end properties in Sri Lanka, we felt that this property was highly overpriced
- vbineet (10/5): Breathtaking Views & Exceptional Hospitality at 98 Acres - Had a wonderful stay at 98 Acres Resort. The views are absolutely stunning and the overall experience was fantastic. A special mention to Mangala and Niroshan from the restaurant team — they were incredibly warm, attentive, and made our stay even more memorable with their hospitality. The only small downside was that some of the materials and finishes used in the washroom didn’t quite feel value for money compared to the otherwise premium experience of the property. That said, the hospitality, location, and breathtaking views more than make up for it. Overall, a solid 5-star experience and I would definitely recommend staying here while visiting Ella.

- Footprints457459 (10/5): Real, simple, effortless luxury that must be experienced. - My wife and I have been touring Sri Lanka on a very long awaited holiday that we promised ourselves that we would definitely do. We booked our holiday via Rickshaw as they were able to turn our dream into reality and out of 12 great hotels, 98 Acres at Ella has been the absolute dream location. The views from our room/balcony was breathtaking and comfortably lying on a huge circular swing, you could experience the view and spend time just taking it all in. The staff were so polite, so professional and no request was too much trouble. The choice of food, whether breakfast or dinner was exceptional and was perfectly prepared, presented and tasted better than expected. This hotel is a ‘must-do’ if you visit Sri Lanka. We have stayed at many ‘luxury’ hotels around the world, but 98 Acres top of our list, by a mile!

- U1458CWians (10/5): Excellent Resort - We stayed here for 2 nights on a tour of Sri Lanka and this was the stand out hotel. Lovely peaceful and beautiful setting on a tea plantation just outside of Ella but walking distance to the 9 arch bridge. We were on half board and there was a very good choice of food for breakfast and evening meal and all of a very good quality. We were served several times by Sudarshan who was very attentive and friendly. All the staff without exception were excellent. The room was spacious and private with stunning views, even from the shower, and one of the biggest beds we've ever slept in! There was no air con but a big fan and you did not need any air con as Ella is cooler than every else we visited. We did a paid morning birdwatch with the on site naturalist (sorry forgot his name) and the sunrise walk to Little Adams Peak. On both occasions he was friendly knowledgeable and made both experiences enjoyable. Even had a spa treatment for the first time in years which was good and excellent value. We would highly recommend this hotel.

We were given a warm towel, a coconut roll and fruit tea, blessed and transported with our cases by buggy to our room. And what a room! It is the best and biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in! The huge balcony comes complete with viewing seats and two sun beds, our very own gecko, and a covered lit space for viewing the wildlife The restaurant offers a wide variety of foods and is supported by friendly and welcoming staff. We only arrived a few hours ago but this is already our favourite stay so far in Sri Lanka

My only complaint would be the spa. For a property of this standard (10/10), the spa would be a 7/10. Was kept waiting for 20 minutes (even though we made an appointment). The reception area was more like a doctors surgery- no ambience, no view- just sat staring at the reception desk. Massage was fine but not great. Given this property has views from everywhere, I thought this was a lost opportunity. Should have a place to wait and also relax in a peaceful area with a view.

Our only regret is that we did not have an extra couple of days to stay to enjoy more walks, the spa and time around the region. The room was quite spacious with a well equipped toilet. The bed was so comfy and super big! You can admire the views from the toilet when showering! :) Having a guided Little Adam's Peak tour was really nice. Highly suggested. We also had our dinners in the restaurant, the food was delicious. Pricey but for this service quality I think it deserves it. There were no coffee machines in the rooms. For a top quality hotel like this, I think coffee machine is a must. Also, in the breakfast buffet there could have been better bread and cheese options.

- HayesDuo (8/5): 2 Night stay in March 2026 - We had a lovely 2 night stay at this gorgeous resort in March 2026. The staff are lovely with especial shout outs for Supin, Sathees and Dhinesh. The location for us was excellent as it was a short Tuk Tuk ride into the local town of Ella which gives you the choice of liveliness in town or quietness at the hotel. The bar cost at the hotel is little on the pricey side, even for a 4/5 star hotel but with the town not far away this can be overcome if you like a drink or two!

Little Adam's peak in the walking distance, tea plantation on site, butler service, buggy commute, beautiful pool and rooms. Loved the infinity pool i our room and the area around it. You get options of traditional blessings and own-made tea on departure. Well within all main attractions of Ella and around like 9-arch bridge etc. Well worth the stay if you like nature and are willing to blend with it. The property is in the middle of the jungle and jungle comes to your room at night. You do have canopy above master bed so can potentially sleep peacefully, but the rest of the room feels like full of life - lizards, fireflies, bugs etc. They make noise and can move things. Bats bangs on the window and something substantial walks around in bushes. This is amazing if you are into it, but somehow we were not prepared for such action. Please be aware

We were greeted warmly and had a few minutes to take in the stunning views over the tea plantation and surrounding hills. The views are sensational and unforgettable. Our room was some distance from the facilities, but this was not an issue with a buggy service available at short notice. The room, with its vaulted ceiling was very spacious, with a massive bed, superb shower and balcony to enjoy the views. My wife and I enjoyed the spa which we thought was very good value.

- SaffyDog (10/5): Luxury property with spa, pool and easy access to Ella town - Check-in was smooth and efficient after a 5 hour drive from Panama on the East Coast. We stayed 2 nights in Villa 227, a Premium Deluxe Signature villa, 8 minute walk from the reception, 10 minutes from the restaurant and pool deck, 2 minutes from the spa. The balcony feautured a hanging bed lounger, and views across the tea plantation back to the main buildings. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, lacking only AC, although the ceiling fans were effective and quiet. WiFi was available. After 6 nights camping at Gal Oya and Kumana National Park, the laundry service was much needed and very efficient and good value for money. We did not have time to use the 98 Spa this time, but the treatment menu looked good. On our first night we dined in, enjoying the wide ranging cuisine and well thought out bar menu. Breakfast, a mix of buffet for fruit, cereals, pastries and delicatessen fare and a la carte for main dishes was good in terms of quantity and quality, and service was very friendly, but there seemed to be little coordination between front of house and the kitchen. This meant that dishes arrived randomly, and sometimes quite slowly, making for a drawn out affair. A little management required. The resort is a little hilly and a buggy service is offered, albeit with delays possible at busy times so book well in advance if in a hurry. Town and attractions like Llittle Adam's Peak and the 9 Arches railway bridge are easily accessible, count on a LKR1,000 fare for a tuktuk down to the main road. The resort is surrounded by a working tea plantation, and the pluckers and other workers are often in evidence, and willing to share a photograph. Please remember that pluckers typically earn just LKR2,000 (US$7/GBP5) a day, so offer them a little gift of thanks if you do share a pic. The hotel is very much is sat on a hill and therefore you need to be able to walk up the steps but there is however a useful buggy service that will come and collect you which is really helpful. Our room was beautiful overlooking the Adams peak and tea plantation . The restaurant has a very international cuisine. The swimming pool area was very nice, but the pool was cool. I was not actually impressed with the town of Ella itself. I was very glad that we had chosen a hotel that was outside of the town so that we could relax. You can get a tuk tuk very easily from the hotel into the centre. We used the spa and had very good massages which I would recommend. We also used the laundry service and that was very efficient and very reasonably priced. The welcome at the hotel was nice and we were given a blessing when we checked out which was very thoughtful

- Z1142URchristinem (10/5): Devine! - We stayed here for 10 days and each one of them was great! The resort itself is beautifully situated and with lots of attention to lovely details. Starting with a worm welcome you can feel the stress evaporating by the minute right from the beginning. The staff is exceptionally friendly with lots of smiling faces. People like Indika or Mangala next to Sudarsham at the restaurant or the charming Satheesh at the pool made our days. We participated three times at the yoga class with the wonderful Akhila which healed body and soul. The Spa offers a wide range of relaxing treatments with great views. We liked all three of the one we took, but the 98 Kusuma can only be called devine! There several great places to go to in Ella and nearby. We had our own car which we mostly used except for a trip to Udawalawa National Park. Gayasha helped us getting a very good driver as well as a good guide for the park. Travelling as a family of four across two rooms, it worked perfectly for us. The views are just incredible, with sweeping panoramas over the Ella Gap that you never get tired of. The whole property has a beautiful eco-luxury feel, set right in the middle of the tea plantations. We absolutely loved our rooms, which were stylish, spacious, and so comfortable. The balconies, especially with the swings, were perfect for relaxing and soaking in the scenery. The property is on a hill, but getting around was easy with the buggy service up and down. The location is fantastic. It is an easy walk to both Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak. One of our favourite moments was doing a family sunrise yoga session on the helipad with Akhil, such a peaceful and special experience. Breakfast each day was a highlight, enjoyed outdoors with stunning views. The pool area is also impressive, with plenty of loungers in the sun or shade. Sundowners on the trampoline lounges were unforgettable, watching the sunset over the valley. The biggest highlight was our time with the resort’s naturalist, Gayasha. He is incredibly passionate, genuinely enthusiastic, and full of insights about local wildlife and Sri Lankan traditions. We joined the complimentary sunrise hike to Little Adam’s Peak and did the Tea Trail with him, both unique, informative, and authentic experiences. He also showed us the best way to enjoy Nine Arches Bridge, guiding us down one route and back via another. Spending time with him truly enriched our stay and made our holiday even more special.

The serenity and unique Sri Lankan feel has suddenly been transformed to one of many “resort” experiences which could be anywhere in the world. Perhaps the pool club area could be changed into an environmental /eco experience more in keeping with what most the people come here to experience
