Guest Reviews
- Adam (10/5): Incredible experience - Incredible staff, hospitable, warm and welcoming. Highly comfortable accommodation, top notch facilities, gym and swimming pool were well maintained. The animals roaming through the camp were a magical experience, I’d recommend this camp to anyone travelling solo, or as a group through Zambia. If you’re looking for a more budget friendly immersive safari experience, this is it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loving so near Mfuwe park we have had the opportunity to enjoy several of the game lodges. Croc Valley has delightful and attentive staff, an beautiful pool and grounds. Plenty of seating along the river for game viewing while you rest or dine.
They have updated and upgraded many of their riverside self contained tents (more like a canvas chalet!) and are in the process of finishing the upgrades to the full amenity chalets. Their game drives are superb! We thoroughly enjoy our trips to Croc Valley!
- Bruce (8/5): Cost effective stay - Convenient place to stay close to the game reserve. Kitchenette allows for self catering, which can make it a cost effective stay. Staff are friendly and service is excellent.
- Mette (8/5): Beautiful location but grumpy staff/terrible food - The place has an amazing location and a wonderful bar/restaurant/swimming pool area. The partly negative review is due to some of the staff being impolite/rude/not service minded at all (some grumpy older men in the bar) and which destroyed some of the atmosphere. The daily manager tried his best, being extremely nice and helpful, but unfortunately he did not compensate for some of the less friendly staff. Another thing was the food- which was a total catastrophe. It took a long time to get the food and when it came it was most of the time cold (and tasteless). On a couple of occasions we asked the staff to warm it - but it came back still cold! We gave up and ate cold food most of the time. It’s a pity because the place has such a potential
- Kristen (8/5): - Beautiful spot on the river. They offer adorable self-catering prices which is refreshing. Showers were hot and food from the restaurant was good. The camp is a bit old and is currently under construction to update many parts of the camp.
- Mark (8/5): - Was great in terms of being right on the Luangwa River with lots of Hippos and crocs visible all day, close to the park entrance, elephants, giraffes and antelope walking in the field/bush in front of our Chalet (#3) during the day and night, was a great Zambian wildlife experience. Chalet was definitely a bit rough living (but we expected that), hard beds, ants and mice and even a baboon came inside and stole our bananas off the counter while we had our backs turned making tea, but that was part of the enjoyable experience. The chalet kitchen had all the basics so we cook most of our own meals. Mozi nets were in good condition, but did not need this time of year. Overall we loved the experience (my Dad and I) and it was a step up from tenting.
- FABIEN (10/5): The place to be!!!! - Our stay was lovely, we were in the eco tent which is perfect: comfortable beds and space. Common bathroom/toilet very clean and close to the tent (but not too close!). Very friendly staff and awesome location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing place to stay - I spent 16 nights at Croc valley and found the staff friendly and attentive. There was lots of wildlife in and around the camp which made the stay interesting if you can't get to the game reserve. They have a lovely swimming pool that I enjoyed using in the evenings after a hot days work.
- Sara (2/5): - Extremely unprofessional and lack of communication.. There are much better ludges and camp sites in the park that you can go to.
- MummaScotland (10/5): - Such a lovely place and staff couldn’t help enough. Always there to ansa questions or advice when required. Friendly management too who interacted with visitors esp in the evenings. Brill evening nightlife in camp. Defo worth a visit
- Jenny (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Croc Valley Camp. There was a good vibe around the camp, and staff were generally friendly and helpful.
- Jim (10/5): - Great location on banks of Luangwa River bordering the South Luangwa National Park; spacious a/c tent with river view. Viewing deck over the river.
- Patrick (4/5): - I think the service needs to be improved, we arrived at around 10.00 hours, no one was willing to attend to us, it took about 20 minutes before an individual was assigned to show us the rooms. Cleanness of the rooms left much to be desired so was the common toilets, I think they are cleaned just once a day, given that they are common toilets for all, they should be cleaned at least three times a day.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lovely place, but very very dirty and unkept, needs a lot of soap and water.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Perfect location for camping. We woke up at 6am with elefants, girafes, hippos and monkeys coming to the river (10-20m from us!). We were also happy with the self-catering kitchen and the different relaxing areas. We do recommend Croc valley camp !
- Limba (10/5): Very calm and relaxing place close to the river. - I spend a couple of days at the valley over the weekend starting 15 June 2018.
First of all, the croc valley team was very friendly and welcoming. The staff provided options on the services offered, delivery of services was timely and respectful.
Secondly, the calm environment near the river with a view/sound of hippos, as well as the view of crocodiles and picky monkeys whilst enjoying a cold drink made the moment so relaxing.
The afternoon and night game drives completed the memorable weekend. We saw two Lions on "Honey Moon" near the river, we also followed a leopard and other animal species. The drivers were patient and took us all around the park for close to 4 hours.
Thank you Croc Valley Camp staff. Hoping to visit again soon
- Dan (10/5): - We stayed in the riverfront tents which enable wildlife viewing on your doorstep. Croc Valley offers affordable accommodations, helpful and friendly staff, a nice pool, and a good restaurant and bar right on the Luangwa River. You have the flexibility to design your own schedule for drives and dining although you can opt for two drives a day and full room and board. This is not a luxury glamping resort; it is a pleasant place quite literally at the end of the road, right across the river from one of Africa's premier parks. You will get to meet local people from Mfuwe Village, and more than likely encounter elephants, monkeys, baboons, antelopes, and beautiful birds right in camp. There is a mix of people from overseas and nearby countries and locals. There is no extra charge for listening to hippos in the river as you fall asleep. And yes, there are really crocodiles in the river. You are in the real Africa!
- Angora (8/5): Great location right on the river - We experienced amazing service from the owner. Our booking had somehow gone wrong and they were not expecting us. The place was full but we were lodged at a neighbouring luxury lodge for the night and then upgraded to a luxury river tent for the duration of our stay. WOW!!!
The camp is older and it seems to be in the process of some needed upgrades. It has a lovely big swimming pool, large restaurant/bar area overlooking the river. We did not eat there as the prices were beyond our budget. Their coffee was the best in Zambia!
Lots of hippos in the river. Baboons and monkeys constantly in camp are fun but absolutely no food can be left anywhere. They were well mannered though and we had no hassles with the. Elephants walk through on their way to the river and the best is the resident bushbuck family.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent place for visiting south luangwa park - Very nice camp at the border or the national park. We stayed in a tent (with beds inside) for $15 per night & person, which is a great price considering the pleasant surroundings. Food and drinks are affordable and good. Morning and evening safaris are offered each day for $40 + $25 park fee. There were lots of baboons on the camp ground, and we were warned not to leave food in the tent as otherwise elephants might walk in. From the bar we could see hippos on the other side of the river.
