Guest Reviews
Super freundliche Gastgeber
- Jean-charles (9/5): Tres bien - Tres bien. Safari en soirée super. Personnel sympathique.
- Brenda (6/5): Five Star Service from Dimitri. - Dimitri was an excellent host and really made our stay enjoyable. The chalets need upgrading, a fridge in each chalet would be a good idea.
Also air conditioning for the hot weather.

Ontbijt lekker

- Justin (9/5): -
- Guest (8/5): - Basically nice continental breakfats
- Huub (8/5): - Fantastisch onderkomen Je waant je echt in de bush bush Helaas veel.wind
- Kathrin (10/5): - Die Betreiber sind super nett. Wir haben gemeinsam gegessen und am Feuer gesessen.
Die Anlage ist super gepflegt und man kann sich wie zu Hause fühlen.
- Sosecure (10/5): Kudu Ridge welcome - The owners were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. We spent only one night but would have happily stayed longer. If you areinto luxury stays this is not it, it is simple and basic but everything you need and when you like to camp. My only issue was not having a little kitchenette to do your own meals if needed. Maybe the addition of a small sink and at least a microwave to warm up food would help.
- Julio (1/5): Stay away from Kudu Ridge - Nothing!! 1) The Hosts are too Inquisitive want to know ins and outs of their Guests. 2) Pictures on website are deceiving as the chalets are very badly maintained . 3) breakfast was two boiled eggs removed from shell, and two muffins, enough percolated coffee for two half cups, with a few strips oh ham and cheese The whole experience left a bitter taste. I honestly believe that premisses have not been inspected and should not be advertised!
- Malcolm (10/5): -
- Da-niel (7/5): -
- Lavery (5/5): Not happy for the price.... - The lodge has huge potential. The lodge needs some serious TLC. Linen, towels pillows are in need of replacement. There was a lot that could be changed and upgraded to add more comfort to the place. The viewing deck is pretty pointless to be honest. The breakfast is shocking.
- Modisha (3/5): The food were not nice beds were separated even though it was indicated that I am traveling with a s - The food were not nice .
- Smith (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pamela (10/5): Rustic and feel good homey stay! - Ginny and Brian are amazing hosts. Demitri is 2nd to none as the manager. Talk about knowing customer service. They all rock at it. So kind. Asking how our day was, suggesting things. Arranged an amazing sunset drive and braai cook out. And, then because Brian and Ginny knew I needed the full braai experience, they hosted one for our last night of dinner. 2 nights of a braai cookout. Yay! They also have it set up so you can meet people or be by yourself during cocktails/dinner. We met some great people and it was cool to learn about each other. The room was a bit rustic but then again, the feel of the lodge is just that. You are at one with nature.
- Dingiswayo (9/5): Awesome - The comfort of the stay. It was indeed value for money. If you're looking for a bushy escape with good views and a wholesome time, this is good. The breakfast could have been better
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Brian, Jenny, Dimitri, very welcoming, informative, helpful. 2 lovely dogs, and a zebra, good food...tents easy to use...close to addo. Nil
- Tania (8/5): Very good - It’s in the middle of the bush. Quiet. Pleasant.
- Hanru (10/5): Amazing “at home” experience. - Had such a great stay - from check-in we just felt at home. Demetri the manager was amazing, and is a very nice guy. We had dinner there the first night where you get to sit around the fire and chat with other guests and the owners Brian and Jenny.
The game-drive is a MUST, so good and get to see lions and giraffes.
- Tiaan (8/5): Very good -
- Charlie (10/5): Amazing home away from home cannot rate highly enough! :) - Amazing home away from home cannot rate highly enough! :)
- Guest (10/5): Brian and Jenny are very warm and welcoming owners of this lovely rustic bush camp They interacted with all of the gues - This is an authentic Rustic bush camp : the tents were spacious and very clean.
Comfy beds.
Owners and staff very interactive with all of the guests and very welcoming.
Their host Dimitri was such a pleasure to deal with and really went out of his way to be of assistance.
Game drive into Addo Wildlife Park was great : Ranger Brighton was very informative.
We spent 2 lovely days at Kudu Ridge. Nothing
- Isabel (1/5): I cannot recommend this establishment, and I sincerely hope the necessary improvements will be made! - The Entrance from the road - BUT only to find that reception was far from the entrance from the road! I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Kudu Ridge Guest House. Upon arrival, the owner/manager did not introduce himself—he simply asked how everything was. When I mentioned that nothing matched the descriptions or photos on Booking.com, his response was shockingly unprofessional: “Well, if you don’t like it, go!”
This is no way to treat a guest, especially a first-time visitor. Given that it was already 17:30 with heavy weather approaching, leaving wasn’t a reasonable option.
The entrance felt more like a backyard entrance, which immediately set a poor first impression. Seeing the 3-star tourism grading was baffling—having worked with grading for 25 years, I expected much better standards. I took photos as evidence of the shocking conditions:
• Exposed electrical cables above the shower
• Open wiring connections next to the basin
• A broken toilet seat cover
* Open Fan without protective cover
Furthermore, the brochures on display painted a completely false picture of the reality. In South Africa, we must ensure we don’t mislead international guests—but unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening here.
I cannot recommend this establishment, and I sincerely hope the necessary improvements are made to align with the expectations set by their advertised grading.
- Anton (9/5): Superb - Excellent base for visiting Addo. We enjoyed the guided drives in the Addo wildlife private reserve and the Addo elephant national park. Very friendly and helpful staff and guides. Running into a group of 7 lions as we left the lodge was amazing!
- Sebastian (6/5): Pleasant - The bar area was really cool with a huge braai, the bonfire in the middle and the viewing deck.
Was cool to stay in a game reserve, really got the safari feeling. Even had a zebra the garden some times.
Did a sunset game drive in the private reserve what was amazing! Great guide.
Brian was helpful and a good chat. Accommodation was very very basic. Bed, toilet and a shower. But everything very clean.
Breakfast was basic as well, like in a backpackers.
Thought it’s a bit pricy for what it is.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Janine (6/5): Dangerous area to get to . - The property needs a revamp We were totally confused with the correspondence prior to our stay.
No dinner was offered unless we went on a $100 safari in the pouring rain !
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - Wowowow. Excellent
- Karin (10/5): Perfect location for visiting Addo - It was my second stay at Kudu Ridge, it felt like visiting friends after a long time. Thanks Brian and Jenny for making it possible to change into a tent. Dimitri - you're the best, keep up the good humour! We had some chilled days there and it's the perfect location for going to Addo Elephant Park or going on a drive/night drive on the Addo Wildlife Reserve. Your fireplace is the best. And please give Pedro a kiss from me.
- Friedrich (10/5): Friendliest place near Addo -
- David (6/5): too hot no ac - the game drive was excellent and we saw a lot of wild life - it was very hot and there is no AC - hard to sleep too hot no ac
- Deborah (10/5): Genuine, warm and friendly bush experience near Addo Elephant Park. - Kudu Ridge is a wonderful place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by Brian and Jenny, their excellent manager Dmitri, 2 adorable dogs Rusty and Pedro and a zebra snoozing in the sun. The property is within the Addo Wildlife reserve which has much wildlife including lions, giraffes and buffalo. Brian kindly booked us game drives in both Addo Wildlife Reserve and Addo Elephant Park with an excellent ranger called Richard. We looked forward each day to the delicious braai evening meal and sitting round the campfire afterwards swapping stories with our fellow guests.
We stayed in a chalet - no frills but comfortable beds and huge showers and excellent value for the price paid. It was a real bush experience and we met so many interesting people during our stay. Brian and Jenny are genuinely friendly and Dmitri is absolutely excellent at looking after the guests, remembering everyone’s name from the time they arrive and making sure guests are always happy. Couldn’t recommend more highly! Absolutely nothing! We had an amazing time!
- Linda (8/5): Very good - The location to the park is great. Host Brian and Jenny and Dimitri were fantastic. Breakfast could have been more exciting, but they did say they were catering for the overseas market who just like continental.
- Christophe (8/5): Very nice place for the price - The team is awsome, it was a good moment around the fire / meal. Dimitry, Brian and his wife wete very adorable with us. The esuipement and bed are rustik but Nice for the place. Everything is cool except the morning safari, you have to go to another hotel and go back to kudu for logistic issues. So you lost 1h of your sleep :/ But for night safari it’s okay.
- Marcos (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (8/5): Very good - We did a guided game drive in the private reserve, which was amazing. The staff are absolutely delightful - a particular shout out to Richard (our safari guide) and Dimitri (who looked after us at the property) as they definitely elevated our stay. The check in experience is a little difficult if you don't have access to data on your phone, so make sure you get in contact with the property beforehand if you are looking for a smooth experience.
- Eileen (2/5): Very disappointing - Demetrius was awesome - works for hosts Cleanliness - everything was grubby. Kitchen in bar - OMG!!
Viewing platform had one narrow worn out bench!
Whole place very tired & run down.
Breakfast mediocre - cold meats & cheese processed.
No proper cover for flies - yuk!
Mugs chipped in bedrooms
Brought my family here for what I thought was going to be a luxurious glamping experience
- Marisca (8/5): Very good - Nature is the best medicine. Wonderful experience. So clean and safe.
- David (10/5): Five Stars - Brian and Jenny were charming and very welcoming, knolagable hostes.
Very special praise, and thanks to the manager Dimitri. The most attentive manager I have ever come across. Service friendly and impeccable. And a master in anticipating the guests needs. He makes every day an easy joy. Nothing is too much trouble for him.
- Nathalie (8/5): Very good -
- Robertson (9/5): Lovely place to stay outside of Addo - Wonderful hosts, Brian and Helen, good staff, Dimitri, and good food. Slept like a log. I thought we could walk around a little, but it turns out they now have lions and buffalo so only game drives allowed. My mistake!
- Chrisr... (7/5): A fun tented camp experience with helpful staff - Right in the bush with a comfortable tent experience. We opted for a game drive with dinner as we thought it was self catering and brought our food with but you need to check the catering arrangements. Bar and fire pit area nice to chill out in the evenings Had some issues with hot water but got the gas changed and then could have a hot shower. Game drive was expensive for locals but we were rewarded with some great sightings and an enjoyable dinner
- Ian (7/5): Good - Needs a refresh.
- C (8/5): Basic accommodation with a warm welcome - The location was great with giraffe and buffelo often visible, we enjoyed the friendly zebra who visited the meeting area. Good hospitality and home cooked food catering for our dietary needs. Covered outdoor area for dining and socialising with a fire pit. Bar with reasonable prices. We stayed in a brick bricked built chalet which was adequate. The standard of accommodation missed some finishing touches.
- Nico (7/5): Good - Dimitri keeps you busy. Decent food. Nice fire Platform is not exactly facing the reserve. In case you want trip on private reserve, compare with Addo Wildlife and choose then.
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Pieter (10/5): Exciting place to stay, with a must in joining the private safari drive to appreciate the wild animals. Even got to seen - Really exciting place to stay, must join the private safari drives to appreciate the game. Loved seeing the Lions and the 5 little cubs eating their kill. The entrance key codes can be tricky as they are sent late via what’s app which you need to lookout for, but you can call the owner who is helpful.
- Graham (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff/owners. Mike and Demetri made us feel really welcome. Nothing
- Germien (9/5): Superb - We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! The rooms were comfortable, the location was perfect and the hospitality was warm and welcoming. We were impressed by the attentive service. Looking forward to our next visit!
- Johann (9/5): Superb - Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff
- Tumelo (1/5): The Stay was Ohk till the last day when my nightmare happened. - The sounding of the bushes was great It was outdated based on what I saw on their Ad
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Staff Dimitri is an excellent host
- Keevy (8/5): Very good -
- Gerhardus (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (9/5): Superb - Really friendly and helpful hosts.
Great location.
Friendly animals on site.
- Reitz (8/5): Very good -
- Gillian (8/5): Camping in comfort - It was lovely being out in the bush and having some comfort in a camping setting and having good family time. There wasnt much i didnt like. Perhaps just the cold showers.😄
- Irma (9/5): Superb - The location and proximity to the start of Addo Trail Run.
Hospitality family oriented.
- Janice (10/5): Addo adventure at its best! - We had a wonderful time at Kudu Ridge. Brian, Jenny and staff make sure your stay is comfortable and you are looked after. Breakfast is continental and more than enough to start the day off well. Catching up at the end of the day at the boma, enjoying a refreshing drink is a lovely way to end the day Would be nice to have a couple of chairs outside the chalet to be able to sit outside when hot and experience the night's sky.
- Jenna (9/5): Superb - The hosts and team were extremely friendly, helpful and supportive. They made you feel at home. Very comfy beds and space. It’s basic but more than comfortable. The shower could use some improvement as it was either super hot or cold and kept switching between the two. But other then that, it was a perfect place for us to stay
- Ramonarubach (8/5): Very good -
- Victoria (8/5): Warm hosts and beautiful location - The owners and staff were absolutely wonderful - really welcoming, kind and helpful. Absolutely loved the two dogs too, and the dinners were good! They also went over and above to let me out of the game reserve at 3:30am, thank you!
- Dougie (5/5): Passable -
- Izelle (8/5): Value for money - Quiet and tranquil environment, friendly staff and good food. Comfortable accommodation with all the basics.
- Leandre (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very friendly and the owners also. Nice and quiet, good advice. Worth stopping and staying for a night or more. Even saw some lions in the park. -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Brian and Jenny were terrific hosts and were very helpful. Rusty and Pedro their dogs are great company. Had some nice chats in the evening sat around the fire. Plans are in place to make the park on which they are based a big five one. Our safari tent was comfortable enough for us. Our stay was in 45 degrees of heat which is not too common.
- Lesley (10/5): Awesome experience differently a must - The hosts and staff member were awesome friendly from the start couldn't do enough for us, which was amazing food was excellent and plenty you didn't feel hungry thank you Brian jenny and perdro your friendless and polite manner went along way a different visit
- Isaacs (4/5): Close to Addo park but not up to standard. - Location , it's near to Addo park. Management needs lessons in Customer service and decorum.
General staff make up for their inadequate behaviour.
Breakfast was not pleasant and extremely cheap quality.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - No TV and basic necessities that was all that was required. The feeling of home. N/A
- Danya (8/5): Very good - Location was beautiful.
Service was amazing. Demetri will be hard to replace Only an afternoon game drive on offer. Cannot self drive through park.
- Bongolethu (4/5): No comment - Location The food was terrible. We told the establishment way in advance that we are vegetarians/vegan and no provision was made for us.
- Laureen (1/5): Morning Ma'am ... Yes I'm out .. the guy told me this morning morning that next time you should book me else whe - The lodge is so creepy and scary right in the middle of the bushes 😭 .. no very poor network, the room it's like a back yard room .. no tv, no fridge. It looks like an old room not being used in ages.. 5am I'm out of here I don't even want breakfast.. the guy is so rude ,his dogs are all over the place , when I tell him to lock them up , he said I will sleep in the car ..
- Girty (9/5): Superb - Its a great property. Owners and staff are great, felt like i was adoptive family. Note: you need to email or call when you think you will be at the game entrance gate, otherwise you will be waiting a long time. There is no phone or reception at gate.
- Jessica (8/5): It was a lovely safari experience for myself and my family. I can really recommend this place! - It's quiet and there's a good amount of space between each of the chalet's and tents. The bush camp allows the feeling of staying in the bush with lots of wildlife around, even a semi-tame zebra! I loved being able to birdwatch in the mornings and evenings. The main building has a nice set-up with big campfire space and a lookout deck as well as a bar and strong enough wifi. The owners are a wonderful couple who live nearby so always on hand, and their staff were super friendly and just lovely guys. We went on a lovely afternoon/evening safari drive with very knowledgeable ranger and great food! Honestly not much I can fault the place with. It's a bush camp not a luxury lodge, it's catching up after pandemic restrictions caused financial difficulties but there is no actual lack as long as you're there to be in the midst of nature and enjoy that experience. The bar and breakfast variety is limited but perfectly adequate. It's a way from the nearest restaurant and no self-catering facilities onsite so one sort of has to book in for the additional cost of dinner but this is also good food so not actually a real problem unless you're a very picky eater, and they do their best to cater for dietary restrictions/requirements if you let them know in good time.
- Alison (8/5): Great value, good fun - Breakfast as a continental was fine, staff exceptional, lovely place
- Celia (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (7/5): Good - Ver
y helpfull and sympathic
- Gunnar (9/5): Superb - The location in a privately owned game reserve is amazing. A shy but photogenic zebra is living right between the cottages and was welcoming us at arrival. The two trainees, George and Dimitri, have a super attentive manner providing excellent service for us. Dinner and breakfast were freshly cooked and served in buffet style, even though we were the only guests. The cottages are simple but comfortable. We've spent the evening together with the owners and their trainees at the fireplace.
A negative surprise was the dinner bill, as we were charged almost 800 ZAR in total, which was more than double a standard restaurant bill.
Nevertheless, it was a wonderful one night stay we really appreciated.
- Heidi (10/5): Wonderful bush experience with a zebra in the camp, so close I never got to a zebra. - We had a wonderful time with very friendly Service, two friendly dogs, delicious home made meals from Jenny. Was lovely to sit around the fire in the evening and watch the African, star-filled sky above us and talk together with the owners, the staff and guests. A little bit of dirt was in the room the next day, I guess it fell from the ceiling, but otherwise everything was good, so great to hear so many birds around one.
- Lorenzo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ivana (9/5): Superb - We stayed in the safari tents which was very cool, pity the weather was not so good. The owner cooked delicious dinner for us, we very much enjoyed our stay there. Thank you. Nothing.
- Georg (10/5): Exceptional - We are very thankful to the extremely caring and wonderful hosts Jeany and Brian who navigated us to the lodge even during night time. We spend further a nice time with them sharing a good wine and nice stories over South Africa and the life in this wonderful country.
- Brent (1/5): 4 hours of hell - Held up at gun point and robbed of possessions Being tied up in an armed robbery
- Amanda (5/5): Good rest not was not something to do for kids - Good location Very standard accomodation for the prize
