- Comfort (3/5): -
- Clive Bass (10/5): -
- Brandon Jason. (10/5): Retreat - Location N/A
- Philip (8/5): - Fantastic! Value for money One white lady were rude, when we ask for help.
- Bothman (10/5): We and my husband really enjoy our weekend there and the location is nice walk distance from waterfr - I dont like the idea that you have to walk out of the guesthouse to have breakfast and every morning you get the same breakfast. If you get breakfast at the geusthouse.
- Jerling (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mireldine (4/5): Over all for what we needed to get to & from stadium it was good situated but can be cleaner please - Breakfast place was a vibe
Location was perfect for where we needed to be Room wasnt clean, dust around the bed, pillows we stained and not washed in a while, walls not washed in a while. Shower and wash basin had used soap on from previous visitors.
Kitchen wasnt clean, dirty pots & pans on stove, fridge messy, dirty dishes in kitchen. We weren’t told its a communal kitchen. Says room facilities fridge, hairdryer, microwave coffee machine etc.
if place can be properly cleaned i will stay again because of its location for what we needed. I dont mind to pay a fair price but make it worth it.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Terrible - We stayed at the property for 5 nights and it was never cleaned…not even once! We used the same sheets and towels during our entire stay.
Also, the owner turns off the electricity everyday at 11-12pm which affects the internet as well. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room because the only window in the room couldn’t close fully. It makes sleeping in the room very unbearable
- Kristie (10/5): Wonderful place to stay! - I loved my stay with Gordon! It was clean, safe, comfortable, and in a convenient location. What I liked most was it was a much more authentic experience than staying in a big hotel. This way, you experience local living, which is really cool. My room and bathroom were regularly cleaned and stocked and the price was quite reasonable. Plus, even though there were several other guests there, the layout of the house affords excellent privacy. I never saw anyone else and barely heard them either! Gordon is very friendly, kind, and always available for questions and recommendations. He even saved me an Uber ride by driving me to the cruise terminal himself when it was time for me to leave, which was so generous of him. I highly recommend his guesthouse! Thank you, Gordon!
- Julia (8/5): - In a lovely quiet area, that was ideal for walking to the city, Green Point, and the Waterfront.
- Hattingh (1/5): Bad - On arrival the Owner/Manager phone was off, only to find out the next day he was submitted to hospital, we were forced to make other plan for accomdation.
We urgently await our refund
- Lynne (1/5): See above - Only thing good about this place is the location to the DHL stadium and that was the reason we booked it. When I phoned to confirm booking was told we had been relocated as they don’t take 1 night booking. Had to negotiate the reason as to why we booked there in the first place.
On arrival no one to check us in, had to phone to be let in.
Room was comfy but had to request coffee mugs as there were none. Fridge had something old frozen in ice tray part🫣
We were then told via what’s app that we couldn’t park and owner had to put his parking permit on windscreen to avoid a fine. This should have been told to us on arrival.
We were then told that breakfast was at a cycle shop a block away. On arrival at this place, which was not appealing at all. We said we were from the guesthouse and were told that breakfast was whatever. We didn’t even have a choice. So we did not have breakfast which was included in the price.
Worst of all was that at midnight the power went out until about 6 am so we could not use the air conditioner and the room was stuffy with no windows. So we opened the door and then got eaten up by mosquitos.
I would not recommend this place to anyone
- Thandi (1/5): Use it for only 1 day of my stay and booked somewhere else - Very Horrible didn't even be able to sleep there Everything was bad
- Johan (8/5): Very good -
- Jon (8/5): - Gordon var väldigt hjälpsam. Han gav bra tips och råd i området och skjutsade oss gärna så fort vi behövde.
- Jacques (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (3/5): Poor - Location 1) shared bathroom 2) cold shower 3) dirty kitchen
- Farhad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (4/5): Disappointing - Room mouldy, linen smelly
- Mxolisi (9/5): Superb - The host was so welcoming and warm. The property was clean and comfortable to stay in.
- Leonard (2/5): Well located but very poor accommodation - On entry to the room it was clear that the owner lived in an open plan area adjoining the room and seems to share the bathroom. There was dirty bed linen soaking in the bath. The room was dirty and musty. We turned the aircon on to provide fresh air. We could not leave the door open because another room looks into the room we were allocated. Hotel.com should not have this on their books until the ensure the owner has passed and electrical inspection. The electrics tripped out overnight and there were no lights in the morning and no hot water. We checked out immediately and found another venue for the Cape Town Mining Indaba.
- Elisma (5/5): Passable -
- Dot (5/5): Friendly host, not pet friendly, room too small. - The host was very helpful and friendly, however the room was a bit dirty, for the size of the room the bed was too big, not a lot of room to move about. It says pet friendly, but there is no garden and the staircase inside is spiral and a bit rickety, the back stairs are not very safe and difficult to use. There was no kettle or mugs and spoons, etc in the room to be able to make coffee, which the other guesthouses that we have stayed has. There is definitely room to improve. Room too small for the furniture utilized in the room, definitely not pet friendly and room could of been cleaner (not too bad but not also clean)
- Matthew (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eugene (6/5): - No address given, no phone number to contact, just not again.
- Terry (2/5): Very poor -
- Amir (8/5): - Alles ok. Parkmöglichkeit tagsüber nicht vorhanden und muss tickets gekauft werden. Sonst alles ok.
- Bashir (9/5): Superb - Location was excellent. Quiet and convenient. Could walk to Sea front. No issues
- johan (6/5): - On check in , my bathroom hadn’t been serviced at all. Brake marks in the toilet, hair in the wash basin, no shampoo or body lotion in the bathroom, virtually no toilet paper. Most disappointing and the worst possible welcome any guest can receive.
- Betty (4/5): Disappointed on how the place was advertised and only to find out that was not the true reflection. - I didn't like anything about the place. i will not recommend anyone to book there. I have booked for breakfast of two people for all days but only to find out no breakfast available. i had an agreement with the owner that he must put it my room but it never happened. i was informed with an email that things has changed while i only sow the email two days later as i was thinking breakfast is cancelled and i will be refunded. I need my refund 5 breakfasts . I had to fix my bed myself all days. My room never being cleaned.
- Lumka (10/5): - Host very hospitable, clean and comfortable. beautiful artefacts, especially liked the stamp collection!
- Andriy (8/5): - Everything was fine
- Colette (10/5): Great Find - Fast Friendly shuttle service from the airport. Gordon was Very Accommodating and Helpful. Great place to be in walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Harbor.
- Ron (10/5): WILL RETURN - GORDON!!
- Fisher (5/5): Passable - Nothing Since day one our Room was never clean and dustbin never taken out
- Dreyer (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alan (10/5): Top value, top place, top value - Ease of booking. Being picked up by Gordon from the airport and the general atmosphere of the place. Gordon is s great host Nothing
- Ron (10/5): will go there again. recommended - Gordon.
Location.
Peaceful. Nothing
- Bob (6/5): Pleasant - location the lining. musty bed. pictures provide a false impression
- Bruce (1/5): Mislead backpackers, dirty, cluttered and poorly run. - There was nothing I liked. There was no one to book me in to identify which room i was allocated to, and the host never responded to my calls to explain why I didn't stay.
There were clothes and linen lying all around the house, and it was generally dirty.
Someone had been sleeping on a couch in the living room where a makeshift bed was made.
The booking was described as a guesthouse and not as a backpackers which is false advertising.
This was the worst accommodation I have paid for and eventually stayed at.
- Marvin (10/5): very homely, the perfect home away from home - would be better if a breakfast delivery to the guesthouse could be arranged
- ERIEL (10/5): - otimo quarto, propietario super solicito, nos ajudou bastante.
- Wilna (8/5): Very good - ihe shower
- Ayanda (9/5): Superb -
- Mervyn (1/5): NEVER AGAIN 😡😡 - 1. Not what we booked, we were then asked for additional fees to upgrade to a suitable room.
2. We were monitored by the owner on entry and exit.
3. We could not exit on the last day as the owner put the power off so the security gate was not operational which posed a health and safety risk.
4. We had to shower with cold water on numerous occasions.
5. We were not allowed to use the air conditioner in the extreme heat and the remote was hidden under the microwave outside the room.
6. No cleaning staff was seen on site.
7. On our last day the owner stood in our room to see what we departed with.
8. A-dead rat was in the koi pond during our stay unhealthy conditions.
9. Carpets need to be cleaned in a filthy condition.
9. I will NEVER reference a stay at the above guest house.
- Cedric (8/5): Very good -
- Freemantle (8/5): Very good -
- George (7/5): Good -
- Cedric (9/5): Superb -
- Abigail (7/5): Good -
- Busisiwe (5/5): Passable -
- Laranja (5/5): Passable -
- Ronay (7/5): Good - Nice and Quiet🙂
- David (10/5): Cape Town Guesthouse - Good location for walking to either the V&A Waterfront or downtown. Convenient to city bus routes. Breakfast is at a cafe about 2 blocks away. Nice start to the day. Gordon, the host, is very nice and accommodating.
- Mervyn (5/5): Below expectations stay - Not too much . Booking was chaotic. First someone canceled
It. Then we almost got double charged. Very stressful stay. Very musty rooms inside owners home sharing facilities with owner and other guests. Even had to purchase inhaler for bad chests from musty closed up rooms. Lights shining into room all night. Ensuite room extremely small . No privacy from shower/toilet section. Also no shampoo, body wash etc. A bar of soap was available. Pics not same as online.
- JEROME (8/5): Kudo to Mr Gordon - MrGordon is an elder gentleman but went out if his way to see that we were comfortable.
His location is very convenient to all the downtown hot spots Cape Town has to offer
- IRENE (8/5): Gordons Guesthouse De Waterkant - Small compact comfortable unit, within easy walking access to Waterfront. Very friendly and amenable host, who went out of his way to fetch us from the airport as car hire was booked out solid throughout Cape Town. Ideal for the short business trip.
- Hans-Jürgen (8/5): - Very friendly and helpfully.
- Andree (8/5): - GORDON was super helpful when our flight was delayed.
- Edward (8/5): - Nice and quiet and convenient for wanting to be near the waterfront. The walk back was uphill.
- naeem (10/5): Place away from home - Warm hospitality and fantastic location!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nothing special at all... Especially at that price... It's basically some guy's house and u rent a room in his house. Would not consider this a guest house. At your own risk... I was not satisfied at all
